I really wish I could give this the full five stars. Don't get me wrong - the food, the drink? Phenomenonal. Service started off great. Then it fell off a cliff. We ended up not seeing our server for over a half hour. We'd been clearly done dining for awhile - silverware crossed on our plates, plates pushed to the middle, napkins on the table, phones out. All the social cues were there! Still, no one. Other staff passed us so quickly, we barely had a chance to flag them down or make eye contact. We finally flagged down another server and asked if he could send our server to us. It still took another solid five minutes before we saw him again and another five after that to return with our receipt. No apology for the delay, even a half-hearted one. Oof. :( All in all, the food was top notch. The prickly pear mule was fantastic. The service was inconsistent. Your mileage may vary, so give it a shot. read more

Let me start by saying, I've worked in the food and beverage industry, so I know unexpected things happen and balls get dropped. However, not knowing about the issues is a blindspot that can kill a business. My intention is to shed light on a blindspot. Having said that, I walked in at 8:15 last night. I was promptly seated by the hostess. I left at 8:40 having not been assigned a server. If you've been to Sedona, you know that most things close by 9. Finding an alternative dining experience was a hassle. The food looked and smelled good and people looked like they were having a good time. I will never know. Mole Mexican was a nice restaurant with a stunning view of the mountains. I went in late March, so it was too cold to sit outside but they have huge glass windows so people inside can still enjoy the view. I enjoyed their street corn and tacos ! This place is one of the nicer restaurant options, but I know there are probably a ton more similar vibe-like options in Sedona. I only stayed half a day in Sedona and wish I was able to see/eat more...but this is a solid place for quality food and calm, nice vibes. read more

Food: Good! Ambiance: lovely with a view! Service: could be better :/ I was so excited to try Mole after seeing other reviews and instagram reels. For the most part, everything was great, we enjoyed outdoor seating and our plates were yummy. However, upon being served glasses of water, my partner received a dirty glass with tajin inside and residue of floating particles from improperly washing dishes... but we get it mistakes happen. We asked our waitress, Shannon, to replace it. She did- but no apology, no "sorry about that", which I expected from a customer service standpoint. We tried not to let this sour the rest of our dining experience, and we did enjoy our food. Would I recommend? Yes, food is good and solid. Mole is located at the Arebella resort in Sedona. They have a very limited menu. Short but mighty. They offer about 10 dishes, including chicken Mole enchiladas, excellent Pazole, salads, and a few other options. Everything is stand alone. Beans and rice are extra. Chips and salsa are extra. The Mole enchiladas were excellent. I may even say it was one of the best mole dishes I've had. The enchiladas were overstuffed with chicken. In addition I ordered black beans and rice. I cleared my entire plate. My dad had the Pazolle. He said it was delicious. My mon said her food was good too. Now you ask, where did it go wrong? Sadly we had a reservation. We found out the hard way that even if you have a reservation, it does not mean they have a table for you. We arrived on time. Our table was not ready. Our option was a very high table facing a wall or outside. We opted to eat outside. Although we had heaters nearby, the wind was very cold. My mole plate got cold fast as did my fathers Pazole. We came to Mole Mexican Kitchen after a hike and really appreciated the balance they strike here. There is a clear embracing of beauty and culture with a sense of elegance from the creator, but at the same time they are very welcoming of families and people coming in casually dressed, which made it feel comfortable and not at all pretentious. The space itself is beautiful. The chandeliers add a nice touch, and the large windows open up to stunning views of the red rock mountains, which makes the whole dining experience feel very "Sedona." If you can time it around sunset, it's especially worth it. There wasn't a children's menu, but I was able to order sides of rice, chicken, and avocado, and my daughter kept saying "mommy this is delicious!" over and over. I couldn't have agreed more. The food feels thoughtful and elevated, with a more refined palate and interesting pops of flavor that you don't always find at a typical Mexican restaurant. It's worth noting that because this is more of an elevated dining experience, prices are higher than your standard spot. They also don't automatically bring chips and salsa, which may surprise some people. When you order items like guacamole, expect a more creative twist. Ours included additions like queso fresco and pomegranate, which isn't something you typically see and adds a unique flavor profile. Service was on the slower side, although it did seem like they may have been understaffed, so that likely contributed. A few other things to keep in mind that others have pointed out as well: portions can feel a bit smaller for the price, and parking in the area can take a little patience, especially during peak times. We stayed at Arabella and apparently breakfast is included with our rooms. The breakfast was a great start to our day the bacon was bomb. Thank you to the staff who kept everything clean and presentable. The layout was great. Simple easy efficent. The property sits overlooking bell rock. I'm not a YELPER - is that a thing? But I had to express my frustration. We read the reviews, which are predominantly positive. However, we saw the recent ones about staffing by Kate G. and Jill K. but rolled the dice anyway. What a mistake. We waited unnecessarily to get a table, the place was a ghost town last night. Then once we were seated, we were completely ignored. We got waters - no chips, no salsa. Then we noticed that nobody seemed to have chips and salsa. Turns out they aren't free ($4.60) like every other Mexican place on the planet. Hmm. Anyway, after waiting what seemed to be an eternity, we were lukewarmly greeted and asked for our orders. When the food finally came, it was meh. Nothing really stood out and I think the bitterness in our mouths about the wait influenced our opinions about the food. The cocktails my husband and I had were the bright spot and we kinda needed them. That said, we would have had probably two more each, but the server neglected us. This place could be making so much more money if the staff just were present, not even exceptional, just present. Where do they go when they disappear? We won't be coming back, even if we were offered a free meal. We just don't have the time to waste. Very poor. Very sad. We just read the review from Alex who appears to have been there the same night and may even be referencing US, which is wild. But sadly, the sentiments are identical. We are reading the responses from the Mole spokesperson to each of the reviews and they seem sadly the same rhetoric, an acknowledgment of our collective disappointment but offering no real solution of consolation, yet the bad reviews over service keep piling up. We noticed that Kate G. didn't get any reply at all, deliberately avoided. The food was the best I had in my week long trip. The lamb shank was perfectly tender, the red chili sauce was flavorful and paired perfectly with that signature gamey-lamb flavor. The minted cream could have been a little more abundant but that's splitting hairs. Standard rice and beans on the side. Good pairing as expected. The pork chicharron app was good, but I think it was a little expensive for what you got. Very well put together, good flavor and presentation though. The cap and one of the stars of the show, the prickly pair flan. It was like a well structured airy-mousse cloud of bliss. Absolutely amazing, it had this creme Brule undertone that transitioned into a carnelized marshmallow flavor. I didn't want it to end. Service left quite a bit to be desired. We were watching another server run laps around the one we had, so I suppose it just depends on who you get. Tough to get water, took a long time to get our drinks, and a longer time to get our entree order taken. Food was 11/10. Service was like a 5/10. read more

We had a fantastic time at Mole, so make sure you get your reservations in when you can!! We had a great server who offered some recommendations, and one of her recommendations became our favorite dish- the guaca crab! We ended up mostly ordering appetizers because there were so many apps that looked amazing, and then we shared our entree. We got the cabo white fish ceviche, the corn bread, the charred esquites, iron skillet corn bread, and the guaca-crab dip appetizers, and they were ALL AMAZING! In fact, they were so good they completely outshined our entree, the mole chicken enchilada. The guaca-crab dip had such a unique flavor profile with the lump crab and guac cooked with butter and miso(?) that just made this dish pop with so much flavor! The cabo white fish ceviche was also really good with tons of bright citrus notes. We loved the charred esquites which was warm and comforting. Lastly, the cornbread really blew us away and was definitely the best cornbread we've had. The texture was so fluffy and light and almost felt more like a dessert! The mole chicken enchilada was great, too, but we are still hung up on how delicious all the apps were. We ended our meal with a prickly pear flan, which didn't seem to have too much prickly pear flavor from what we could tell, but it was a solid flan overall, and I would recommend if it you're a lover of flan! read more

Went to try Mole Mexican Kitchen at 5:15 pm today. Walked up the ramp which I noticed had a 4-6" step up so not ADA compliant and entered the restaurant. The waiting area was full and I walked up to the host area and waited for 6 minutes while staff members walked around no one offered to assist. I saw a couple of ladies walk to sit at the bar and the bartender stated that they could not sit until the host or in this case no host gave them a menu. They left as well. On minutes 7 I signaled my wife to leave and we went to Javelinas. I was in the restaurant business back in my college days and you must have a host or hostess up front to greet patrons. read more

It was not a bad experience, but for a place trying to be "ingenuous" as they say on their sign, a lot of the details are lacking. For starters, their restrooms are in need of a total re-do. It was giving off construction site, porta potty vibes. The leather chairs in the dining room are also very dated and the leather exterior is pealing off all over the place. The plates we were given were not entirely clean and had bits of old food caked on in parts. Our white fish ceviche was tasty and I admit I ate all of it. However, it felt like the sauce was just poured from a Tropicana orange juice bottle, and lacked sophistication. The mole enchiladas also were tasty, and I also finished the whole thing, but the chicken tasted of slightly poor quality, and needed better marinade or seasoning. Our server was great but just talked a bit too fast. This place has potential for sure, but needs to clean up the details for a higher rating. read more

The views from the rooftop patio were amazing, great margaritas while we waited for food too. The crab Guacamole was delicious!! They brought our food out and the skirt Steak that my wife ordered was delicious. I ordered the Pork Tenderloin and they brought my a chicken dish, I told the waitress and she quickly brought me the Pork Tenderloin I ordered. No issues at all, great service with that. Lets start from the begining, We were party of 4, We ordered our drinks and couple appetizers to this point all good. then we finished our waitress bring the main course without first cleaning the empty plates of the appetizers (We had a fairly small table without much space available) We finally received the main course and settled in. after that, only once We saw our waitress, We didn't get drinks refills, or she checking our table if everything was fine or if we wanted something else, We finished our meals and there we were waiting for the waitress, after I don't know how long it took she showed up to clear the table and at same time give Us the bill, without first making sure if everything had been fine or offering us dessert or coffee, she just only handed over the bill. I want to clarify that the restaurant was not full or busy, literally 5 tables in the whole restaurant (2 waitresses) I noticed the table next to us (table of two) they were waiting for long time for their check, those customers looked a little uncomfortable. Had no availability as tried to make online reservation for Sunday evening so called on Saturday early afternoon & left a message for them asking for call back - no one bothered to return my call. I kept on checking open table and was able to get a 7:45 pm reservation for 2 of us. We arrived at 7:15 and they were able to sit us down right away - there were plenty of empty tables. We waited at least 15 munutes for server to come over to the table, it took excessive time to get a bottle of Pellegrino water & food took a while... but when it finally made it to our table it was delicious, hot and worth the wait! The beef enchiladas with mole sauce had a really unique flavor that was so delicious. My mom loved the guacamole and the flan for dessert. I took my wife to Molé for her birthday, (which is on Cinco de Mayo coincidentally). The food and service were superb. This is not your typical, nicely decorated Mexican restaurant serving fast food quality meals. Molé is a gourmet restaurant with meals that are not only beautifully presented but, delicious. Nothing is spared in quality. True to it's name, Molé has the most outstanding molé sauce I have ever tasted. Whether you are visiting Sedona or a local, Molé is a must go! read more
