Stayed at the Ambiente Hotel and of course we had to stop here since it's on the property. Visited here late night and it's was very quiet and calm. Bartender was nice and the food was ok. Also, received a complimentary drink for my friend's birthday. I'm sure it's even better during the day with the heated pool being pretty much connected to the restaurant.

Exquisite special occasion dining with an inventive fresh-ingredient Asian-fusion menu that was much-needed in Sedona! My mom treated my husband and me to dinner to celebrate the holidays, and we all absolutely loved everything. The restaurant is part of Ambiente resort. We arrived and valeted the car at Ambiente lobby. You can either walk down the path to the restaurant (which is near the lit-up pool area) or, if it's a cold night or you don't want to walk--the valets will drive you down the path in a golf cart. Our server was excellent. She explained that many things on the menu are modular, so they can be made gluten-free, pescatarian, and vegetarian. My husband and I are pescatarians, and so we loved hearing that the ramen with crab and red miso broth can be made pescatarian if you choose to leave out the pork belly. So many great things on the menu. We had: * Artichoke hearts appetizer - 5 stars (flavorful and delicate) * Seaweed salad with yuzu-apple vinaigrette- - 5 stars (tasty & different) * Halibut entree - 5 stars (perfect: moist, buttery & flaky) * Alaskan king crab with gnocchi and asparagus tips - 5 stars + my favorite entree of 2024! The crab was exceptional and bountiful across the top of TJ sautéed gnocchi. * Churros desert with sliced apples and yuzu ice cream - 5 stars (yummy combination of flavors) COCKTAILS WE HAD: * The Gamble, an excellent cocktail with jalapeño-infused mezcal and watermelon juice, garnished with a spicy shishito pepper * Paper Plane (perfectly balanced) * Tootsie Roll Espresso Martini (nice flavor and not too sweet which we appreciated) The menu and quality and execution of all the dishes we had impressed us. We all said it was one of our favorite meals of 2024--if not THE #1. Local singer and songwriter Sylvia Grape played during dinner, and she adds to the cool vibe. She plays her own original songs and excellent covers of bands from The Cranberries and The Cure's "Love Song" to Mazzy Star. We enjoyed her entire set! Excellent 5-star experience from start to finish.

Tried this new restaurant while in town for the weekend. They valet your car and they take you to the restaurant in a little golf cart. We made reservations for 7.15. Please note if you're going to cancel the reservation, do it on time, otherwise it's $50 per person. The restaurant isn't very large so I get that they can't have too many no-shows. We were seated at a table right next to the guitar player/musician and I was worried it was going to be too loud to carry on a conversation but it actually wasn't. The musician was actually pretty good. We ordered some cocktails. I had to return the sweet lips because I really didn't like it. I think it's a spin on the New York sour which I've had before. I just didn't like this one. I got a chocolate banana old fashioned. It was strong. I liked this cocktail, though I wish it had more of a banana flavor. I felt $25 was a little expensive for this cocktail. The sweet lips had more going on artistically. They served a beef based amuse bouche. The rest of my party like it. Complex flavors and tasty. Since I don't eat beef they served something with ceviche. Not good at all. Too much cumin. To start, we got the elk strip and the butterfish (black cod) I didn't care for the elk. I felt the elk was too rubbery but the base with mushrooms and polenta in yellow curry was actually better. It was delicious! The black cod was pretty good but I don't think it compared to the black cod from Nobu. For entrees my friend and I got the Diver scallops- oh my. This dish was the star of the show. The pork belly dumplings were to die for. The scallops were just perfect. The butternut squash purée - just wow. I would definitely recommend getting this dish. my husband got the filet mignon. He said it was perfectly cooked and very flavorful. The brussel sprouts were just okay. Felt it was undercooked and not as much flavor as he was hoping. He thought the potato purée and relish was underwhelming. But A generous portion of meat. My other friend got the spiny lobster and said was good. For dessert we got the churro donut and the snickers elevated. Both were very good. If I had to choose between them I would go with the churro donut. The pairing with the ube gelato and apples were genius. And I typically don't like churros. Our server Scott was attentive and knew the menu well.

After staying at other 5 star hotels and often disappointed by the food, Forty1 has been really good. Setting is beautiful and staff are so friendly.

    Forty 1's Tiramisu

Beside Ambiente's shimmering pool, Chef Kyle Rhode crafts an unforgettable dining experience. Our evening began with blistered shishito peppers, followed by yuzu-poached Jumbo Prawn Cocktail and the standout Blue Crab Cakes in lemongrass kaffir lime broth -- possibly the best I've ever tasted. Mains dazzled: Mary's Farm Chicken with mushroom risotto and leek velouté, Market Fish (red snapper) with Mexican adobo, and Wild Fungi Cacio e Pepe with seasonal mushrooms topped with peppery parmesan. Dessert brought airy Tiramisu and bright Key Lime Tart, but the showstopper was the Smoked Lychee Martini, infused tableside in a swirl of aromatic mist. Floral, smoky, and unforgettable -- much like the night itself. The service was stellar, and Chef Rhode's instinct for layering flavors made each plate a story. Together, a meal that will linger long after the last sip.

By far the best restaurant in Sedona, the food and ambience were unmatched! Executive Chef David Duncan brings his many years of experience to this restaurant, located at the Ambiente resort. Beautiful presentation and absolutely amazing flavors! The service was impeccable, the chef himself comes out to present your meals and ensure everything is delicious. I cannot recommend Forty1 enough, it's a must try!

    Wild Caught Blue Shrim Aquachile

This restaurant is a hidden gem in Sedona inside Ambiente Landscape Resort. Stayed here for 3 days and experienced some of the best chef curated dishes. Let's start from the server, Abram. He knows every single item in the menu and recommended what we can try. Dinner Day 1, we ordered a few glasses of Barrio Blonde which is a local brew. Had the wild caught blue shrimp aquachileand charcuterie for appetizers. Main course were blue crab ramen and elk steak which were both delicious! Dessert was pistachio. Ordered the same thing the next day for dinner. Breakfast was also delicious! The stay comes with a $40 credit per person for breakfast. Chef David's a great chef

Our first time in Sedona, we're celebrating our anniversary, staying at the exquisite Ambiente landscape hotel. It's a special treat, staying and dining poolside amidst the red rock Sedona cliffs all around. I feel extra lucky, being able to be the first Yelper to review Forty1 (Oops! Almost! Well played Elizabeth A!), which is one of the finest restaurants we've been to, in all of our travels. I understand they have changed chefs since originally opening, but whomever they have now is doing amazing things. Service has also been polished and professional. Emma, Mary, and especially Lana all took great care of us. Our first night at Ambiente we stayed for dinner and they set the stage for a phenomenal vacation. We haven't been to a restaurant that serves an amuse bouche and refolds our napkins for us since forever, and it was such a treat. The amuse bouche introduced us to the skillful chef, we both loved the perfectly balanced spoonful of pickled daikon and creamy flavorful puree. Our first dish was the wild caught blue shrimp aguachile, prepared like a ceviche, with delicious jugo verde, pickled Serrano, mango, yuzu pearls, roasted pepitas, pomegranate, and micro cilantro. The shrimp were perfect, and we drank the juice up with a spoon before allowing the dish to leave our table. Next was my wife's favorite dish of our whole vacation, Forty1's version of Surf and Turf, with a delicious and crispy hoisin marinated pork belly, two *perfectly* cooked seared scallops, cantaloupe melon, honeydew gastrique, and a little ube sorbet as a palette cleanser. Perfection. And lastly, our most indulgent dish, we shared a delicious chef special, not on the menu. Our server raved about how good it was when the staff got to taste it, and they were right. Chef created a perfectly cooked tender filet of beef, topped with pulled king crab meat. It was rich and indulgent and again cooked perfectly. We stayed for dessert as well, eager to taste a little more of that ube gelato, and I ordered chocolate and pistachio gelatos as well. Just like everything else that night, they were perfect. We've also now had opportunity to try the breakfasts and lunch offerings. Everything is delicious and perfect, but expensive. We're on vacation and celebrating a special occasion, we're feeling fortunate to be able to indulge a little more than we normally would or could.

    Pistachio Bliss dessert

This restaurant at the Ambiente A Landscape Hotel was absolutely phenomenal. My husband and I arrived as it was down pouring as it is AZ's monsoon season. The valet at the front of the hotel quickly attended to us and got us into a golf cart to be escorted down to the restaurant which is poolside. Although it was raining, it was evident that this property is absolutely stunning! When we arrived, we were sat immediately and Daniel was our server. Daniel was attentive and hospitable. My husband and I opted to split the Bulgogi Skirt steak which was brought to us split on two plates & was cooked to absolute perfection. Our cocktails, food & dessert were absolutely delicious. Also,l had the best cappuccino I've ever had alongside my pistachio bliss dessert - a must try if you love pistachio & dark chocolate. I could not have been happier with our dining experience! Thank you so much! We will definitely be back next time we visit AZ!

    Clearly a short rib
    Adam C.

Something to really disappointing. Very beautiful property. The food was blah... Drinks were delicious and I ordered the bison ossoboco was served a short rib. I called the server over to bring it to their attention and was told oh sorry our supplier was only able to get short rib. This should have been addressed prior to ordering and at this point in dinner my wife was almost finished with her food and did not want to sit around for a whole new entree to be made as we had already been there 45 minutes between drinks and appetizers. This soured the meal. The server was very friendly and nice but overall overpriced for what it is

    Lobster pasta .

The service was great but the food was not good . I ordered the lobster pasta and the lobster was over cooked and the pasta had too much turmeric . I didn't even eat the pasta . My companion had the black rice and it was bland. I was so disappointed. A meal for almost 400 bucks for two people should be better.

    Salmon & King crab gnocchi

Everything about this place was amazing. Abram made sure we had a 10/10 experience. The restaurant was beautiful and we had great views of the sun setting. I was a little intimidated by the menu because they had some dishes I was not the most familiar with but they did not disappoint. Everything that we tried was amazing all the way down to the drinks and appetizers but the entrees were very unique and flavorful. We had the king crab gnocchi and the salmon. We were not disappointed. We will be coming back. And if we're being honest here, this has been the best food we have had in Sedona.

    Sea bass
    Rachel V.

Amazing food & service for our mini-moon dinner. Had the sea bass and the filet for entrees, which were both cooked perfectly. Appreciated the amuse-bouche & amazing cocktails! Definitely a good place to indulge. Pistachio tart for dessert was good but slightly dry.

We sat outside on the patio, absolutely beautiful weather and the tables are gently shaded by beautiful Brazilian Pepper trees. My only issue, I had bits of the tree in my hair, my water, my drink and my dinner. Our waiter Joshua was fantastic, a warm, gracious pro. PERFECT!! We started with the bone marrow appetizer. Maybe the best I've had at a restaurant. Came topped with a piping of mashed potatoes and bread crumbs. Perfectly cooked and served with toasted brioche bread, smoked sea salt and a bacon marmalade. It was delicious and huge. My only thoughts on making it perfect...Go ahead and salt your marrow in the kitchen and add another slice of toast. You are serving two big marrow bones, so don't be stingy with a piece of toast. All that said, this app was highlight of dinner. My daughter opted for another appetizer as her entree. She had the Spanish style garlic chili shrimp in butter. Looked huge and she said it was over the top fabulous. (I'm allergic to shellfish so I just took her word) She added some duck fat fries which were fine, but not great. I had the mushroom strudel and it was okay but frankly pretty underwhelming. Think it had been pre-made, filling was blah, flakey pastry was not, and highlight was a plucky little pepper sauce that was delicious but didn't really go with the main dish. It screamed for a nice cream sauce, and some butter in the filling. I love mushrooms as a main and this poor little pastry looked and tasted like a hot pocket. Now back to the positives. The dark chocolate soufflé with homemade crème anglaise is lovely and well worth it . My daughter also loved the prickly pear margaritas. All in all, really nice experience and meal. The kitchen obviously functions well and service is perfect. A few tweaks on the menu and this place is stellar. Even now, a Great special occasion restaurant and the location and lovely service made it special for us.

But the ambiance overall was nice and it was a beautiful day. Bruschetta trio was good. I liked the jamon one the best. The Tuna Nicoise was fine. Presentation was lovely. My bf would have liked some other veggies and don't feel it lived up to his standards. I had the Monte Cristo which was enormous and tasty. The ham had been fried and it really added to the flavor. The soufflé was incredible- although we were not advised it was a $5 upcharge for a minuscule scoop of ice cream. Speaking of prices. We were charged $30 for my sandwich which was listed as $24 on the menu. We didn't notice until I looked at the receipt that he next day. It's only $6 but it didn't leave me feeling positively.

Cool evening temps nearly discouraged us from dining outdoors, but with plenty of heaters, fire pits, and (perhaps the nicest touch) being offered a warm blanket to stave off any chill, we were not only comfortable but also very glad we remained on the patio for our nearly 2 hour food extravaganza. Live music from a very talented guitarist/vocalist elevated the experience further. Service was highly attentive but not at all intrusive. Everyone's food tastes being different, I'll refrain from suggesting what you might order. I can say my meal of short ribs was good to the last bite, served with small potatoes and grilled carrots.
