I am picky when it comes to food at restaurants. I tried Uncle Bud's for the first time--and I am wowed! I ordered the 2 meat BBQ platter with pulled pork, chuck roast, potato salad, red beans and rice, and cornbread, to go. The service was fast! It was a little busy at lunch time, but I got my order in less than 5 minutes. The meat serving was GENEROUS! Both the pork and beef were tender and delicious (though the pulled pork was just a tad bit dry). The BBQ sauce on it was just the way I like it--just a little sweet. The potato salad had the flavor just the way my momma made it--mayo and mustardy. The cornbread was served as a mini cornbread loaf with butter. It was tender tasty cornbread that had just a touch of sweetness. The red beans and rice were okay. And the price was right--a great value for money spent. Will we be back? You betcha! read more

My husband and I went here for lunch last Saturday due to a high rating on Yelp. We both got pulled pork sandwiches. I was surprised that the pork seemed very dry. Especially for a place that all they do is barbecue. I would expect it to be juicier. I kept adding more and more barbecue sauce, but it just didn't make it juicier. The flavor was ok. We visited in the morning, ordered the 3 meat platter for $25. It comes with your choice of the three meats and your choice of sides. We ordered 1/4 rack rib, chuck roast, and jerk chicken with baked beans and Cajun greens as the sides. The jerk chicken was delicious with a hint of spice. The ribs were good , soft, not chewy. The chuck roast was soft and tender. The baked beans were sweet and soft. The Cajun greens were alright. Also, ordered the cream soda in the bottle. WOW - Very Happy after this feast! We got a 3 meat platter with smoked smashed potatoes & cajun greens and a jambalaya! The place is very small, but from the moment you walk in, you know you found something special. I had the chicken & shrimp etoufee, which was wonderful. It was one of those times that you take a bite & your head just starts to instinctively nod. Yep, thats it, thats what I wanted. Large portions, friendly people, lots of choices & the Who memorabilia on the wall are all reasons I will definitely be back. Food was great. Service was great. My experience overall was great! As soon as we walked in, we were immediately greeted! The staff was friendly & accommodating as we have a large party (7 people). There are several options to choose from. We decided to go with the Po Boy sandwich with pulled pork which was a really good sized sandwich! The flavor was really good & it was balanced! We got a pulled pork sandwich which is what you would expect! It was really good, I had to add a little bit extra bbq sauce, but I do LOVE sauce. We got two 3 meat platters to share & it was SO amazing! All of the meat was good & tender! Really good flavor & filling! Finally, we got the cajun mac n cheese which you can only get on Fridays & Saturdays, but it was SO good! The mac n cheese was very cheesy & had a great amount of cajun! Yelp led me to Uncle Bud's this week for dinner. It's hard to find being on the back corner of a large shopping center. Inside it's a small counter service restaurant that has about 5-6 small tables. I ordered the smoked cajun chuck roast platter for $15. I chose baked beans and smoked mashed potatoes with some brown gravy on top for the two sides given. The meal came with a piece of cornbread and was ready in less than 10 minutes. First of all the servings were quite generous size wise. The chuck roast came with some sweet bbq sauce drizzled on top which I wasn't expecting. The meat was good tasting and mostly tender. It was a good roast. The mashed potatoes did have a hint of smoke in their taste and with the gravy was very good tasting. Finally the baked beans had a thick sauce and were also tasty. I enjoyed this meal. Uncle Bud's is a family owned restaurant with reasonable prices. The owners story is on the menu and the interior has local area decor. I like this place and would return when back in town. read more

Great friendly service!! Mom & Pop's relaxed ambiance. We had lunch including 2 different soups which were excellent and we shared a muffuletta sandwich which was delicious. We wished the olive salad included more than the mixture of chopped olives (green and black). We were looking for the more complex ingredients we usually get on a muffuletta including pickled vegetables like celery, carrots, and cauliflower, and garlic. Still a great meal! Small restaurant with excellent food. They do BBQ really well. Everything is fall off the bone delicious and prices are very reasonable. Lots of take out customers on top of the 6 or so tables. Service is efficient and unpretentious. This is not silver spoon place. Wear your jeans or whatever. I could hear someone in the back loudly dropping the F-bomb and thought maybe they burnt something. I had a hankerin for BBQ ribs or something like that on 1 particular day.... what I ended up getting was a pot roast meal with mashed potatoes and beans. It was great ! Each of the food had their own spices and that made it worth the trip alone. It wasn't just something that someone threw together and called it good, no ! Someone took the tome and effort into each food dish and made it unique. That's what made it stand out as a place worth going to and as for me, I WANT to back there again to sample even more food options that the place offers ! While the place is on the small side, for now, I'm sure, until they find a bigger place because with the of attention that they bring to each food , it won't be long until they get a bigger place, it's that good ! I will say, the staff was nice, we had no wait, prices are decent. It's a small little place and they will be moving further into Prescott soon. The food was good. I will go again. I will say it's not my favorite though. Here are the things I liked and liked less. Things I like: portion size was great, Mac n cheese was great, mashed potatoes were great, my husband liked the jerk chicken Things I liked less: The pulled pork was ok, ribs were a little dry, the chicken and Tasso jambalaya ( I added shrimp) was good but the sauce was kinda thicker than I thought it should be. I would get it again but I still feel the sauce should be a little thinner. I didn't like the corn bread. My family did but I wasn't expecting it to have brown sugar on top and I thought it was a bit bland. I will give it another visit and try some other items. read more

The owner and his wife were super friendly even when a bunch of us walked through the door at the same time around 6:30pm on a Saturday. We had the following: - Chicken and Shrimp Etouffe - Bud's Big BBQ Platter with 3 meats (Ribs, Pulled Pork, Sausage) and 2 sides (Potato Salad, Mac and Cheese) It was all delicious!
