We enjoy stopping in here periodically for some yummy BBQ. I usually get the loaded spud, but today I opted for the Sloppy Sheldon. Tommy went with the ribs. We hit it between rushes so it was quiet. The ladies working today were spot on, friendly, and helpful. It is always clean when we have been. They keep the tables stocked with paper towels. I stopped by on a Friday afternoon. The dining areas were clean and spacious. Big picnic benches outdoors. The wonderful aromas hit when I opened the door. There were many choices of meats and sides. The flavor of everything was good but.......the biggest issue we had was trying to enjoy a HOT meal. I ordered first and my sandwich sat at the register waiting for my husband's order to be made. The sauces on the table were cold, the ceiling fans blasting didn't help. My husband had 2 meats and sides. By the time he got to the 2nd meat it was cold, the corn bread was cold (and he is ex-military and eats fast!). The staff was very pleasant and the food tasted good, just not hot. We got take out to eat at hotel. It was soooo amazing; we both (hubs) loved everything and everything was a little different from what we can get at home. He got the two item platter with chicken and brisket; sides were smoked mashed potatoes and gravy and smoked green beans. We couldn't decide on which of the four sauces we liked best. I got the slider and sarsaparilla special with pulled pork; smoked green beans side. I also got an Ala carte Mac n cheese side so that I could have porky Mac sliders with sauce. The only reason why you got 2 stars is because the blonde at the counter was friendly and the Cole slaw was decent. The brisket was dry, the sausage was dry and flavorless. The potato was cold as were all of the toppings. The green beans were mushy and had a weird flavor. Perfect!!!! Today was my 3rd visit and it was just as perfect as my first 2!! I ordered a pound of brisket, VERY lean. It is always tender and juicy without being fatty. This is our new BBQ shack in Prescott!!! The food was excellent even though we showed up 30-45mins before closing time. We literally just got the "scraps" left over from the day. Went for lunch, the service is great. Very friendly, attentive and caring staff. Selection of menu items is great, lots to choose from. Wow, where to start..?? Well, I've owned quite a few retail businesses in California and have employed many people before moving to Prescott 3 years ago. This was our first visit since the change of ownership to Jamaal and Rhona McCoy in the past months... We went with another couple. There was one family before us in line, so as we stood, waiting for 5 then 10 minutes to order, we heard the female employee, apologizing to the mother of the family for taking so long to get their order together. Apparently, the counter girl, in addition to taking the order, was also the chef responsible for expediting the food out of the kitchen too, while another employee just stood, helplessly watching this calamity... The female worker continued to ask the mother about the details of her order, until the mom, just shook her head, looking at us to apologize for the unnecessary delay... This went on for a few more minutes, and when she'd apparently finished, and we were finally at the counter to order, the employee started distractedly cleaning her station instead of offering to help us. So, I just jumped in and offered the most succinct order I could, and she said, "...and what other meat do you want..??" I'd described my order with the accompanying sides in detail and didn't understand what else she was looking for in addition, and she asked again...what other meats do you want..?? I repeated the entire order with all the necessary detail and she again asked ...what other meat do you want..?? She repeated these exact words at least 5 times without looking at me at any point in this exchange. This left me stunned... Is she on drugs..?? Anyway, I gave up and left the line as I was not having any success trying to place our order, and told my wife and friends who had already been sitting at a table, let's go, I can't seem to order anything here... This counter-girl had an attitude, and instead of being friendly and helping me order, she just argued with me during this exchange. We certainly won't be back, and as we're all 4 active in the town's many clubs and service organizations, we'll spread the word... read more

I took out dinner from this restaurant just before it closed. The meats seemed tired--my wife said her chicken was dry and overly salty. My pulled pork was ok but the brisket was dry and bland. Meat portions were smaller than at other BBQs in the area. The sides were much better: wife's cole slaw and potato salad very good, my mac 'n cheese good, collard greens excellent--smoky and rich. From the moment we arrived the service was impeccable. The cook explained all the questions we had ((with great patience)) and even cut into a new brisket giving us a requested piece with less fat.
