Stopped here for boba on recommendations of my brothers coworker. I tried the lavender milk tea with boba. The tea itself was really good. I've never had lavender anything before but somehow knew that's exactly how it taste. Definitely would go back for that. The boba itself was a little strange. Almost too slimy. Not really sure how I felt about it. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't good. If that makes sense. The building was pretty warm inside which is strange because they had a million fans on. Been coming to Boba Loca for many many years. Always consistent with their drinks. My personal favorite is the Thai Tea with boba, but I also like their Taro Slush with Boba. Super friendly staff. Miguel is one of the coolest dudes you'll ever meet. He's been there for a long time and I always enjoy interacting with him and he rest of the crew. If you're in downtown Burbank, you guys gotta make a pit stop here for a drink. You'll definitely quench your thirst. read more

There's certainly something to be said about receiving a drink with a fresh plastic wrapping on the top that you have to break open violently with a pointy straw. It reminds me of my days back in high school when I discovered stabbing for the first time. They have a great selection of smoothies and boba teas here! But if you couldn't figure that out after seeing the name, then you might want to skip reading this review and hone in on your basic communication skills instead. Speaking of communication skills this guy on a date nearby me just said, "uh I'm business manager... so I like do random, stuff." Hey wow! What a keeper! If you're worried about the consistency of the boba here, I'd say they do a very good job, it's a soft and pleasantly mushy ball type feeling. This place was so great! I went with a guest and we were helped by a guy that seemed to be the owner. He was SUPER nice, friendly, helpful. Overall he was very welcoming. He told us about some items on the menu he recommended that we hadn't heard of before. There were also a few milk teas that were already made and he graciously offered us samples of all of them which really impressed me. I settled on the regular earl grey boba (I think here it was called boba milk tea). This was one of the milk teas already made and it was really good! At every other boba place I've gone to they are a bit stingy on the boba but at this place, the boba amount was NO JOKE! He filled our cup HALF way with boba alone. I was in boba heaven. It's located in such a cute, little area. There were other little things nearby; restaurants and shops. It was a nice area to take a walk in. There are many parking spots, however, it seems to be a rather crowded area (vehicle-wise). I did notice that people were frequently leaving so I was able to find parking right away. This place is ridiculous. I've been trying to hit all the boba shops in the valley to determine which one is worth it. And this place ain't it. Sorry not sorry First of all the place looks like it's a mess and it's really messed up all the table have carvings in them and are all messed up. I would like one person to tell me that they enjoy salvadorean horchata because most people don't even like it. Got the large lavender milk tea with pudding and didn't finish half of it - there goes $6.35... Should have gotten the small but didn't think it would be so bad. The drink was super shaken up and had a weird foamy consistency and did not taste like tea at all, wasn't really that cold, the pudding was straight up mush and didn't properly harden into pudding?? Do not get the pudding!! This is the only place that I've gotten a bad pudding and it doesn't make any sense. I don't get it. Parking around this area is a pain. It's usually super crowded, but I can not fault them for that. I came in on a Sunday afternoon when it was maybe 95 degrees outside. Luckily, I somehow was the second person in line and when I turned around, the line was out the door! They literally had 2 people working, one to take orders/money, and the other to make the drinks. I waited about 10 minutes for the couple in front of me to finish ordering, and then after I ordered my drink, I literally waiting in the store for an additional 15-20 minutes for a milk tea with boba! The milk tea is literally already prepared and sitting behind the counter, but because they were so understaffed, it took me 25 in and out of the store for one drink. The boba is fine, nothing special, but I was floored that they were so understaffed on such a hot day. They have lots of options of milk teas, smoothies, and slushies. I would have given more stars for the drinks if the service wasn't so sub -par. read more

I've had better boba for sure. The cashier was friendly but kinda clueless. He kept calling me "ma'am" and when I said he didn't have to call me ma'am (it is just a boba shop...and I don't look that much older than him) he looked personally affronted lol. Anyways, I ordered a taro milk tea with boba and a churro. The boba came out and it was very syrupy tasting. There was hardly any ice and the boba pearls was very soft and small as if they'd been left in the boiler too long. I had to wait for the churro which was fine cause they let me know beforehand there would be a wait. It was a decent churro, nothing spectacular. HOT HOT HOT! Maybe there's no air conditioning? I mean there was 5 massive industrial sized fans blowing inside. Loud, and they charge you for using plastic if your total is under $10. Everything is under $5 so if you are ordering more than at least 3 drinks/food items be prepared to be charge the $0.35. I didn't care, but that's just me. My friend and I's drinks were amazing, which made up for the no air-conditioning-anxiety-driven-heat, and the poor parking of the Burbank in general. I had the Mango Peach smoothie without boba and it was AMAZING! Perfect amount of sweetness and tasted like it was freshly blended mango and peaches. They dont believe in AC so a giant Fan in the middle of the room is all you get.. The Ugly.. Cute little place on San Fernando, I found this place on yelp so was excited to try the boba. The girl working was very helpful in helping me decide which tea I wanted as there is a HUGE selection, I was offered a sample to try which was nice before I made my decision. There are so many good things to be said about Boba Loca. The staff is so friendly. The manager always manages to put a smile on my face and the guy at the front always has the best recommendations. If you aren't in the mood for boba, they also have some bakery goods like cookies, warm pretzels, and churros. I personally recommend the Thai Tea. I have no idea how this place has higher than 3 stars. And this isn't just based off of one visit, I always give boba houses the benefit of the doubt in case they had an off day where their boba just happened to be inconsistent. Nope. Every time I give this place another chance, I become more disappointed. Their drinks taste way too sugary and artifical [Lollipop and TapX uses syrup/powders for their drinks too but at least those taste edible]. The boba isn't soft/chewy either, it tastes like you're biting into a tasteless hard substance. I would expect this type of quality maybe in a restaurant that serves boba on the side, but for a place that has Boba as part of it's name, they really need to up their boba game. read more

I love this place. Most of their drinks are vegan since they make their drinks with rice milk (which is the way all boba drinks should be made) instead of dairy milk. They have A LOT of different flavors, and even some you can ask them to make. I usually get a strawberry coconut smoothie with boba. It's not on the menu, but if they have the flavors there they cab do whatever you want! This one is located in the cute downtown shopping area of Burbank, so you can get your lunch, dinner, shoes, what-have you everywhere else within walking distance, then come here top it all off with a Boba! Not too sweet and good tasting tapioca. One of my favs--Honeydew Milk Tea. I'm the Milk Tea Crazy Nut! I was killing some time before my Book Club, however, on one of the hottest freaking days in early Sept and the air in there was rather close. The ceiling fans were on full blast, and their positioning underneath the lighting was giving me a strobe headache while I was trying to read my book. Not a fan of the boba but the drink flavors are good. I get a little less sweet since taro and Thai are sweet ! I had a lengthy discussion with the owner today about how they prepare the boba. If you're looking for honey boba, it's apparently the copious amounts of brown sugar that's added that penetrates to boba and makes it sweet, and not the honey itself. As you go to different boba loca locations, this sugar content in the preparation will vary. The owner mentioned he's thinking of offering two versions : one honey boba and one regular . Side note: apparently ABC news did a piece on them and the health department dropped by (the topic which was unbeknownst to him) inquiring about their boba preparation because some places use so much sugar that it's a health hazard! Safe to say that this location is healthy in that respect :) so if you're looking for that "honey" boba, it's not here - yet. read more

I never used to like boba - they werid little black chewy balls that had no flavor. But, after giving it another shot again here, I'm in love with the stuff! Boba Loca has a very extensive list of flavors and types of drinks to try, as well as yogurt and food if you're hungry. They also have a frequent buyer card, and after buying 9 drinks, your 10th is free which is awesome! I usually always opt to order a slush because it usually lasts me longer (I can't drink it as fast or - brainfreeze!) I have tried so many different flavors (my goal is to try them all), but I must say that the traditional Milk Tea is by far my favorite with Taro Tea a close second (for now). If you've never had boba before, you should definitely give it a try, you might be surprised. read more

If I could give zero stars I most definitely would. Burbank is so devoid of good boba that it really saddens me whenever I give them a shot because it's like a game of "I told you so". The store wasn't really busy yet even while standing on the register with someone clearly there I wasn't even given a nod to say I'll be right with you. I ordered a staple Passion Fruit Green Tea and it came out as if I got more syrup than I did tea. Eugh. I literally dumped out half of the tea and poured in water and it was still too sweet. Yes, I know I can ask for less syrup but as this was my first time here I would not have known they were trying to give me diabetes!! read more

I live in Burbank, and this place is convenient, but definitely not the best. With that said, I come here at least 1-2x a month since it is close. The Boba itself has been inconsistent. Sometimes warm and soft, other times hard and undercooked it seems. Not sure why there is such a varying degree of difference, especially when I come in the evening and the place has 6-7 people in line and a relatively fast turnover. The drinks themselves are okay. My go to beverage is the Thai Tea. Good flavor, not too sweet for my liking. The milk tea is also okay. I got the peach juicy drink once and it was full of flavor, but tasted very very sugary. Be aware that if you use a credit card and have not met the minimum (I think it is $10), then there is a service charge of something like 50cents on top of the drink. Making a large drink at $4.75 more than a $5 drink. And yes, there is no AC in here, just really large and loud fans blowing around the stuffy air. Overall, it is fair if you want a Boba drink in the Burbank village, but I have definitely had better, but unfortunately, it is located either in Arcadia or on the West side. read more

I think the only reason why they are still in business is because they are theee only boba spot in downtown Burbank.
