I'm a sucker for anything cute, so when a photo of this place popped up in my feed, I knew I had to go, especially since it's so close to home. It's part of a shopping plaza so parking was free and plentiful. Just approaching the door I was already faced with so many cute signs. Inside it's just as cute. It's small, though, like in one corner there was a small table with 2 chairs around it, but the rest of the space is dominated by the huge counter. It's more of a takeout place. I'm glad that there was a digital tablet where you could place your order because I could take my time and not feel guilty for trying to decide. At one point I did need to ask one of the employees for help because I couldn't understand why it wasn't letting me add items to my cart. She explained that I had to scroll down and pick a sauce first. I hope that whoever designed the app puts a "Scroll down" or a down arrow symbol to make that clear. Also, on the tablet I saw items that weren't on the website and vice versa, like I saw fried tofu online, but there was no mention of the rice bowl version. I'm glad there were vegetarian options, so I ordered that and the vegetable rolls. The cafe opened at 11:30, so I had them for lunch. Everything tasted good and the portions were enough for me to have leftovers for dinner. The drink I ordered had the option of buying a special cup. I thought it meant the cup would have a special design, which it did. What I didn't know was that it has a secret compartment on the bottom that you tear open and there was a keychain inside. It kind of reminded me of when I was a kid and asked to go to McDonald's not because of the food, but because I wanted the toy in the Happy Meal. I knew that this is likely a place I'll want to keep coming back to, so I signed up for the membership beforehand. After a certain number of points, you get a free drink or snack. If you put in the credit card you'll be using, you get points for that as well. It is a little bit expensive with the 4 items I bought coming to $40 with tip, and the drinks are sweet even when you can control the amount of sugar (and ice) you want. I have been here a few times. My kid likes their taro shake with boba. We tried their ceylon tea, mango yogurt, oreo creme brule, uji boba matcha latte with ice cream. My son didn't like the oreo creme brule so he sticks to taro shake. Their prices are reasonable and they give a good amount of boba compared to some other places. Wow. Flavor bomb! Definitely more dessert than drink lol. I got the creme brulee cookie milk tea w/ boba and half of the cup was the yummy custard dessert. I would've liked a little more tea to off set the dessert. The large cup felt more like a regular at other boba places. But it was very good and 30% sweetness was more than enough. You self order on the screen and the drink is made to order and comes out on the side. The staff are nice, and I enjoy the vibe of the place. There is one table inside and two outside. My order total was $14 for two drinks with toppings. Strawberry Yogurt Slushy w/ Crystal Boba: I love the yogurt flavor, and it pairs so well with the strawberry. The balance is perfect. There are real strawberry chunks included in the drink, and it comes with crystal boba. It's my favorite drink from this place. I find that 70% sweetness is perfect. Peach Lychee Slushy w/ Lychee Jelly: Refreshing drink! It is inside a big shopping center and has plenty of parking. Walked in around 4pm and was greeted by a very nice young lady named Tracy. She had a very nice attitude and right away took my order. I went with their large Mochi & Boba Ceylon Milk Tea $(7.05) and that's all I got on this visit. It is a small yet cute, clean Boba place to indulge yourself and that's exactly what I did. I've been to Ume Tea way too often for one reason and one reason alone, their Matcha! There's not a lot of great boba option in NoHo, let alone finding a great Matcha drink that is enjoyable. The drink that has kept me coming back was their Tiramisu matcha. I love the thickness of the drink and the balanced taste of not so sweet drink. I always forget to add boba to my drinks, so this review is not reflective of their boba quality. You have the ability to pre-order if you want; however, since this was not planned I ordered at the register. The service was fast, prompt and efficient. It was not busy at the time; however, it was a cloudy, cool day and early on in the day. I ordered the Mango Green Tea w/ Lychee Jelly, and it was delicious. They always give you the opportunity for modifications and to also modify the sweetness level if you desire. Milk Tea. - - - - - - I'm so glad that a friend shared the grand opening of Ume Tea with me because WOW this is exactly what SFV needs more of: quality boba shops! On grand opening weekend, there were a ton of staff, all excited and ready to serve. For my order, I had their 3Q Milk Tea and White Peach Oolong Tea... and boy did it hit the spot! (Diet aside, how could I not sample boba from the new boba shop on the block?) Layered in their Ceylon milk tea was brown sugar boba, milk pudding, and red bean which culminated the experience of the 3Q Milk Tea. The boba was appropriately chewy, not too mushy and not too tough. The milk pudding was great, and the red bean was a gentle topping, adding subtle sweetness. My most anxious order was their recommend White Peach Oolong milk tea, mostly because I am not a fan of syrup or whipped cream - both of which were in this drink. Though it was on the watery end, I have to admit that I really enjoyed trying this drink. There was just enough white peach in there to provide support for and not overwhelm the oolong main character of the drink.
