I have been ruined for any other ice cream solely due to how AMAZING McConnell's is! If you are like me, ice cream is a pleasure enjoyed every once in a while. I would like it every day but my doctor would probably have some words for me if I did. So when I actually do get ice cream, I want the best. And let me tell you, McConnell's is the best in my opinion. I would describe the ice cream here as being made with the freshest ingredients you could imagine. They have an assortment of interesting flavors to choose from. The staff is more than happy to offer you samples so you can pick your favorite, but always stick to my go-to flavors, which never disappoint. First is one of their original flavors, Eureka Lemon and Marionberries. It tastes like Italy in your mouth. It's sweet and light from the ice cream base but also tart and flavorful from the lemon and marionberry notes. My second flavor, and probably my number one if I had to choose, is their coffee ice cream. When I tell you, I crave this stuff, I mean it! I've had plenty of coffee ice creams in my day but this one is perfection. It has a strong coffee flavor that isn't overpowered by the sweetness and it's got little specks of coffee grind in it which is like a surprise for the palate. You wouldn't think these two flavors go well together, but they really do! I always get myself a double scoop (which is actually four scoops). So if you order a double you can actually get four different flavors. I always get it in a cup with a sugar cone on top. It's the perfect treat. They also offer some baked goods like brownies where you make sundaes with them. And while I normally think a brownie would enhance the ice cream experience, here I believe the ice cream is the star and you shouldn't ruin it! Now on to the negatives, and there aren't many. It's on the more expensive side for ice cream. But again, you are getting a premium quality product and I personally don't mind paying a little more for something I feel reflects the value. And while the ice cream here is the best, the parking is not the best. You can get lucky and find metered street parking but because there are so many popular businesses on this strip, it's usually pretty crowded. If you are willing to walk a little bit, you can usually find parking in the neighborhood behind the businesses. Or, and I didn't tell you this, you can park in the large Von's parking lot on the other side of Laurel Canyon and take the short walk over. That's actually probably the best option to get that exercise in before devouring your ice cream anyway! read more

I have been buying McConnell's at Whole Foods every so often and it is excellent. So when I was saw the logo sign, I practically jumped out of the car I was driving. The ice cream in-vivo is even better than the store stuff. I hate admitting that LA has some of the best ice cream, but McConnell's is truly spectacular. I got a sundae with cookies and cream and sat outside and went into an ice cream tunnel and devoured it in probably 60 seconds. McConnell's is excellent. Just shy of a five star rating (one employee clearly didn't want to be working there or helping customers, while the other was very friendly and gave five star service). The ice cream quality here is excellent, I tried a couple different flavors and they were all as good as it gets for an American Ice Cream Parlor. Their ice cream is just so creamy, amazing variety of flavors, and it's not overly sweet. I got a scoop of early Grey tea & shortbread cookie, and strawberries & shortbread cookies - i love when the chunks of cookies soften up and becomes so chewy in the ice cream. Every McConnell's location I've visited seems to satisfy -- they always deliver unique, creative flavors and there's something new to try every time. This visit, I went for the Earl Grey ice cream. It might not sound like the most obvious choice, but they made it work perfectly with buttery shortbread chunks mixed in and that signature McConnell's creaminess. OMG, they have so many flavors! The shop is very clean, and we were helped by a charming young Lady, Alia! She was so knowledgeable and pointed out if we bought 4 ready packed pints we could get a insulated tote to take it home and since we live about 25 miles away and it is very hot, we welcomed her suggestions. Right now McConnells has paired with Sees Candy on many flavors. What a special treat. They take credit cards, but the parking is on Ventura Place and it could be daunting. I've been going to McConnell's ever since I was living in Santa Barbara and I make a point to come here if I'm passing by a location. Maybe it's the nostalgia or maybe the warmer months, but McConnell's has been my first choice for ice cream. I love their flavors, the seasonal things they come up with. I like that they do have delicious sorbet flavors as well. Their scoops can be split (so you can get 2 flavors without having to get a whole other scoop). Sometimes there is a line but it goes by pretty fast. This location doesn't really have a lot of seating. There's a few seats inside but most people take their scoops and sit outside. Depending on how busy it is, you can find a bench. I like to go at night time, post dinner, and there's usually less people then. Parking is street parking and it can get hard to find (another reason why I prefer going at night). But don't let that discourage you, it's worth a try! read more

This place was super busy but it was night and i believe a weekend when we went. I only went to try the collaboration flavors with Sees Candies. Customer service was great, they were pretty fast and had patience dealing with me sonce my form of payment was acting up. Eventually i got it and no one was mad, upset or said any rude comments. Absolutely love this ice cream, and I always find myself coming back. Today I tried something new, not sure if it was a limited time flavor or just in general a new flavor. But, I got the "Baby you're a firework: Blue Raspberry" mixed with Oreos for an ice cream shake. The blue raspberry was sweet and creamy, and I thought it would be paired well with the Oreos. OMG!! There aren't enough adjectives to describe this amazing place! So, I flew to LA to spend time with my sister, who is going through a rough time right now. Kathy decided to give this place a try, saying she'd been waiting to try it for a while. Jayden greeted us and began by saying, "welcome to the best ice cream in the world!" He went on to say we can try every ice cream you see, and you don't have to buy anything!" Then, he proudly talked about the ingredients and offered us some of his favorites!
