Went here for a dessert and it was ok nothing to really write about. They did not have a very big separation of desserts was not really impressed. Our waiter was a little on the strange side and it looked like he had not bathed in a few days and his clothes were not that clean. Another waitress was working in the table next to us and she was cussing a lot to her patrons about the restaurant and it seemed she new them. Seriously slow and rude service. 30 minute wait for a table when the place was half empty, speedy order taking by a fairly nice server. Food turned up an hour later (no exaggeration). A group of diners that were construction workers actually offered to help the cook. Diners seated at the bar were loudly comparing long wait times for their food. Carry out customers we're shaking their head and complaining about their incomplete order and wait time. This is really hard for me to rate for a few reasons. I truly believe the main reason my experience was bad was in part my fault because I was cranky in general from my really long trip, but partly because of my waitress. None of the other staff were bad. But here's my experience anyway. I had just driven 13 1/2 hours from Charleston, SC to pick my husband up from the airport in Detroit, and then drive another 2 hours to Midland. We were expecting a late night. I had 3 hours before his flight was schedule to arrive so I went to Bob Evans to sit down, check my email, have dinner. Not stay for 3 hours, but just kill some time before I maybe napped in the car. I got seated, and it was nearly 10 minutes before my waitress came over. She rushes past, stops, comes back and says, "Has anyone taken your order yet?" I told her no and she says, "Sorry, what can I get you" and I said, "I'd like a coke to drink" and she starts to walk away and since I'd been waiting all that time I already knew what I wanted. I said, "And I'd also like a regular cheeseburger, and a side salad with ranch." She brings me out my salad, no silverware. She finally brings silverware, and about 2 minutes later my burger comes out. I'm not complaining about that part, it's just not something I'm used to since I asked her for it first. But anyways - I get to my burger, and there's bacon on it. I probably on any other day wouldn't have cared, but this girl just struck me the wrong way. It was not busy, she never came to check on me or give me a refill. So I pulled the bacon off, scraped the cheese off the bacon, and ate my burger. The bun was really soggy, like it had been put on a wet plate, and the fries weren't very good - but that is my fault - it's what I ordered. She finally comes back when I have al my plates lined up at the end of the table. She asks if I want a refill. I said, "no, just the bill and a comment card." She brings me a comment card some kid scribbled all over. Then as I'm getting ready to leave, an older couple gets seated behind me. She walks up to them all perky and says, "HI. I'M JAE-LYNN. WHAT CAN I GET FOR YOU TODAY! :D" I was like, "really?!" Now I've had few problems before where because I'm alone and look young, I don't get treated as well. Not often, but there are times. I want those businesses to know to stop judging those of us who look young. I may be 21 years old, but I have the $$ to pay and tip will when I go out. when I don't have the cash, I don't go. So if I'm sitting in your restaurant and business, expect me to have the cash to give to you. I was pretty upset, and in between all of that my husband informed me they overbooked their flight, and then that the flight was delayed 4 hours. C'est la vie. So I told the manager about her, only because all the other servers were cheery and nice and polite, attentive to their guests. The manager was awesome. She said she was sorry, and offered banana bread. She offered me coffee or hot chocolate to keep me up, but I said no thank you. She was so nice and giving already, it was like I was visitor in her home! I wasn't expecting anything like that, and I can't stress how nice she was. The girl at the counter (who was also very sweet) still had my card and bill. The manager handed me back my hard and threw away my bill. I was seriously shocked. It was the nicest thing that had ever been done for me when I had a complaint, and WAY beyond what I ever would have expected! She asked me to come back next time we come through Detroit and let her know how things are going. So like I said, I don't want to rate this 1 or 2 stars because of my waitress, when I'm positive that any other night I probably would have rate it 4 or 5. However, for this visit, I'll keep it at 3, and next time I'm in Romulus, I will do a follow up. :) read more

Yeah, yeah, I know this is a chain along the line of Coco's, Carrow's, Village Inn, or Waffle House. But Bob Evans is breakfast heaven. Breakfast all day, spanning over pages. I think they have lunch and dinner buried in there, but who cares! There's nothing special about the preparation, but the super-friendly service from the host to the server to the manager and the vast options have made me a converted fan. I flew into Detroit Tuesday afternoon. I was staying at a motel very close to Bob Evens. I was starving. A friend, I traveled with also was hungry. So we both walked over to the restaurant. I ordered the turkey dinner, just like my friend did. It showed up on my table piled high. Turkey, celery dressing. Mashed potatoes and gray. I started to dig in. First thing I noticed is how dirty everything was. Silverware was awful. Drinking glasses looked old and stained. Same with the coffee cups. Back to this pile of food. Very bland. They don't slow roast with any seasoning. No salt either. The stuffing was wet and sticky , it also had a funny taste to it also. The only good thing was the mashed potato's with this bland gravy that I pushed to the side. Now, right about now I'm telling myself there breakfast has to be better than this. Next morning I met my friend there again, to try to figure out this place. Once again, dirty everything. Coffee cups were so bad I asked for a plastic cup. I asked for the manager. Waitress said she is the manager. I couldn't believe it. I explained to her the situation with all this dirty silverware and dishes. That I'm not happy nor I'm I going to give this place a good review Breakfast came. How do you mess up scramble eggs? Simple use powder instead of fresh eggs. The only good thing this round was the bacon. Toast was even bad. Not toasted all the way a way to much butter. Hash browns were over cooked and greasy. Over all I would never visit this place again. Between the bad tasting food and dirty silverware. I just couldn't take the abuse again. I hope Bob Evens reads these Yelp post and act on this. Awful. read more

Do not come here if you're in a hurry. The restaurant isn't busy and it's taking forever for me to get my food. As I'm writing this review the food comes...after 30 minutes. Biscuits are hard. Review is for dinner/carry out. I went in to place a simple carry out order. They weren't busy at all when I entered. I stood at the counter, while 3, yes 3 waitresses stood there and chatted. I was hoping one of them would acknowledge my presence. No such luck. One girl did make eye contact for a second then went right back to talking. A few moments later they dispersed and went about other things. I AM STILL STANDING AT THE COUNTER. I made the mistake of asking for a carry out menu ( to look at until I was helped). No one could get me one. I was given one eventually by one the waitresses previously mentioned in the first paragraph. She then says "I saw you standing there, but wasn't sure what you wanted." REALLY?! Is this a restaurant??? Then she says " I don't work that area." Finally someone came and took my order. She wasn't friendly, and looked extremely miserable to be there. I was given my order, and went home. I wasn't expecting THE WRONG ORDER since I was the only person in line for carry out. So I called just to have the front cashier say " so what...you want to come back? Or... I then said just give me the manager. The manager is actually very nice, I feel bad that he is unable to find decent people who give GOOD customer service. I am sick of spending my money just to be treated like that. Standard Bob Evans fare, diners tend to be travelers, and the food is middle of the road. Our orders were exactly as described and the waitress was very pleasant. We went for breakfast on Easter Sunday with our 1 year old. Always better then Denny's and Ihop, but not quite the greasy spoon place most of us love. read more

Went there after 9pm on a Sunday night. The two of us each ordered a big meal and being so late in the day the waitress apologized to us for not having one of the things in our meal that we wanted. This review is for Dinner only. Simply put the food is one of the tastiest in the area. I had the Chicken Noodle Deep Dish and my boyfriend had the Steak with green beans, Cesar salad, banana nut bread, and fruit cup. The serving size is a good size, the food is well seasoned and inexpensive. Spent a Lil over $20 for 2 people. Everything taste good, matter of fact the Steak taste better the second time around, it was juicier and seasoning was just right (first steak was a tad salty), than the first day he ordered the steak. On top of that, the location was very convenient. Right next to our hotel. You can't beat that! According to my boyfriend service was great, waitress was polite. Takeout was also quick. absolutely horrible!!!! I've eaten bob Evans before and its nothing special but at this location the seats had an overwhelming smell of bleach or ammonia. I had French toast one side was burnt the other side looked raw. after finishing we were driving down the highway when the food poisoning set in and I had to puke out of a moving car. (quite a site for those behind me I'm sure) but yeah beyond that the service sucked food took forever (despite being the only people in the store) and I'm still not sure if I was poisoned by raw eggs or cleaning products. ..... shut this store down! read more

Megan made a beautiful big house salad with romaine, cucumber, tomatoes and shredded cheddar. Salad was nicely presented but could have used some croutons. But for $3.09 I can't complain much.
