Food served fresh and fast. Service was quick and friendly. Place was clean and well lit. Will definitely return to sample other menu items.

The service here is great - I was very happy that they had gluten free bread. But no butter and the potato's had been fried in the same oil as the fish on Friday or that is how they tasted. Good choices on menu

French Toast Sandwich

I've been to Glass Onion Griddle several times for lunch in the past, but my my first breakfast visit was recent. I've found the restaurant to be little fancier than a lot of the Coney Islands around and they serve dishes that are a bit more unique with more flair. While I've seen the place completely full on the weekends, breakfast on a weekday seems to be a more lax affair. Service is always friendly and prompt and the food is always good. For this visit, I got one item: French Toast Sandwich ($13) - The french toast is a nice, thick cut Texas toast with a delicious egg batter. As the name implies, this is constructed into a sandwich - the bottom slice is slathered with a slightly spiced maple butter, then an omelette with embedded moons of breakfast sausage is placed on top, and finally the other slice of french toast. Of course it's dusted with a layer of powdered sugar, giving additional sweetness. The sweet/savory combo works very nicely together. Two slices of orange are on the side to add some additional fruity sweetness. They also give a cup of fruit with mostly honeydew and some cantaloupe and grapes. I'm sure the fruit salad changes as different fruits go in and out of season. (4/5) The restaurant has traditional table service except for payment - you take your bill and pay at the counter. They do charge a 3.5% fee for using credit cards. Overall the food at Glass Onion Griddle is solid. I've been multiple times in the past and will continue visiting in the future.

Sorry, I gobbled down most of this special, Ropa Vieja, before I had a mind to take a pic and so a partial view.

I took my friend here today for breakfast. I was a little leery since I hadn't been here for a while, and I was given the task to find a good place to eat. She ordered the Eggs and Corned Beef and said it was the best breakfast she's ever had. She was even talking about returning before she'd finished her meal. That's saying something since it's a thirty minute drive for us to get here. I ordered the special, Eggs and Ropa Vieje. It was tender roasted beef with tomatoes, onions and green olives. It was served with roasted sweet potato tots, 2 eggs, and toast. The cook knocked it out of the park with this one. I'm so glad we stopped by the Glass Onion today. It's good to see this restaurant continue to grow and thrive.

Really nice breakfast joint with a rock and roll vibe. Everything we had was delicious and there were some little touches that demonstrate the quality of this restaurant. Thick cut bacon, fresh toast bread, home made sausage gravy. To me these are all signs of a great dining experience. The Carmel apple waffle was a special the day of our visit. But it was so good. I wouldn't hesitate to order any other waffle dish they offered. An added bonus was the fact that my coffee cup was never lower than half full. The staff was on top of their business and quick with the refills

Popped in for breakfast with our toddler one morning. It's seat yourself seating and we were able to sit away from the crowd to have a bit more space. Service was fast as was the delivery of the food! We enjoyed our meals. The sausage patty seemed as if it was made in house, potatoes were cooked very well, french toast was dense and flavorful, and the eggs were cooked perfectly. One thing that was off was that the prices of items were more on our receipt than they were online or on menu in front of us so that was a bit deceptive. Other than that, good spot for a quick bite.

My family and I ate at the Glass onion restaurant for the very first time on 8.7.24 BUT it will not be our last!! Starting with the warm and welcoming atmosphere to the exceptional customer service and food!! It was such a great change of pace to go to a restaurant and EVERYONE was happy to be there working!! Exceptional diner well worth going to over & over again!

so my experience with glass onion griddle well I was blown away the omelette was perfect. I asked them to make this big bad boy had eight eggs plus all the meats and inside of cucumbers. I love the service there amazing so friendly I like the ambience is really just down home friendly family friendly . I enjoyed the coffee the conversation super sweet. I would definitely be back. It's nice to have a good place in alan Park like this. I'd recommend this to people who are just trying to stroll through Yelp. I recommend this for either breakfast or lunch or whatever you're looking for. They have all kinds of things on the menu. I would be not disappointed because everything taste good on. I like the open kitchen like you can see what people are doing like that the seating I like the outdoor patio I enjoyed everything about Even. The bar was pretty cool. I just having free refills of coffee and commodity . So for me this is the first time great experience and definitely I'll be back again. I'll bring friends. I'll bring people from out of town. Definitely be a regular if I can but not all the time but it's nice to go out on Saturday afternoon and or Sunday morning or Saturday morning just to get breakfast and I wake up and smell the roses.

Chicken noodle soup.

A big thank you to whoever decided to stay open until 9:00 on Fridays! I have only ever ate breakfast here and it is delicious. Since they are now open late on Friday,we had to try some non breakfast food and it did not disappoint! The chicken noodle soup was clearly homemade and full of carrots and nice chunks of chicken. The bruschetta was so good and was served with the best baguette. The meals of fish and chips-big pieces that were not over-breaded were really good and the Cuban was perfection...thick pieces of pork and ham on that awesome baguette again ... Will definitely be back for dinner again!

Great breakfast place everything about this place is great. Try their breakfast burrito cut it half it will fill 2 of you. The service lets you know the specials of day. The other thing is that outdoor seating has that little Italy feel and vibe to it . You pick where you want to seat. Try to eat everything in the menu if you keep coming back. Yes it's one those places where got to try everything. That is all. Chief Listening without conversation is more powerful.

Does this place offer any gluten free options, for example if I wanted a breakfast sandwich or French toast/pancake on gluten free bread or using gluten free mix?

From my experience and seeing the menu, I don't think so unfortunately. But perhaps call ahead, and maybe they just don't advertise it. (313) 558-9618. I have many colleagues with dietary needs, I know how tough it can be finding places sometimes!

Do they serve mimosas?

Yes! Now they do!

This was an awful table to be at in here. We hardly had elbow room or table space, especially after the giant platter sized bread was out with all of the breakfast/ brunch items for half of the table. I ordered the Fazolia. Everyone else got omelets, burgers or wrap items. Yes, a couple of team members weren't keen on ordering Fasolia with scrambled eggs, large Greek salad, 2 lahm sighar (one with potato and one quit eggs), 2 smashed burger, Yemeni scrambled eggs, chicken fajita, Greek skillet, southwest skillet, chicken wrap, coffee, tea without milk, Turkish coffee, mint lemonade refresher. Every team member said their food was good. The scrambled eggs are a tad runny and looked a bit puréed. The fasolia has good flavor and even better with some heat. It came out piping hot. Without the added eggs, this dish would be woefully lacking in substance for me. I would likely still be left hungry with the beans alone, since I don't eat the bread, generally. I tried the bread to give it a go, it's good. The Greek salad is nicely plated or bowled rather. The ingredients are in separate piles and looks like a pinwheel. The red onions were crudely cut. The tomatoes looked wrinkled and not so appealing. The Greek salad was underwhelming for me. The tea doesn't taste good, definitely need some honey, sugar or the milk here, although I favor nothing in my tea.

This place is definitely worth a visit if you are ever in the Detroit area. First things first,…read morethey do not take reservations and they are always on a wait, that should tell you that they are good. We arrived in the middle of a snowstorm on a weekday. It was a Friday though around 11am and, predictably, they had a wait. We had to wait about 30 minutes for a table. It was totally worth the wait. Their ambiance is cute- the hallway is clean, they have bench seating and they put you on the list to get a text, so you could sit in the car if you really wanted to; we did not. They could use a foyer though. It was 22 degrees and snowing so every time the door opened we were instantly freezing. The menu is massive so if you're trying this for the first time and you're from out of town, honey bring as many friends as you can so that you guys can order everything!! Theeeee must have that I tried were the smoked wings. I have never had wings that were smoked and then fried baby they were crispy. They were seasoned to the bone and were delicious. I almost ate them all and had no room for anything else. We also did the berry pancakes which could feed 3-5 people alone; second of all, they're not overly sweet, which is why I did berries and not the peaches or anything like that; and, third of all, the pancakes are the size of your face, but they are fluffy and melt in your mouth! These were easily top two pancakes I've had in my life. We also tried the shrimp and grits, also a 10/10. A generous portion of shrimp, not overcooked and the sauce was bomb. They do put bacon on it if you're not a bacon eater pay attention. I tasted around it anyways but yes, we also tried a vegetarian omelette with home fries. This was just a 7/10 but probably because we only ever tasted it reheated because we were too full to touch it. It was 3 entrees and an appetizer and was definitely enough food to feed a family of seven. This is a must visit place, so if you are in the area and have never been: make time!!!! And take some friends. Each plate is a day's worth of calories!

If you enter through front door, walk to back. We were immediately seated. Waitress was super friendly and fast service. I ordered the Za'atar avocado toast and they allowed me to sub in scrambled eggs instead of sunny side up. It was listed a starter and so I appreciated the smaller size. It was served with a side salad with yummy picked onions. I LOVED it. Although I would have taken even a little more Za'atar in the cream cheese. My cousin ordered the chicken and waffles. She thought the chicken had a little too much seasoning and didn't love it. But the portion was huge and could have just been a personal preference. Her son orders the huevos rancheros and he enjoyed it! Also ordered but no photos were the standard breakfast with beef bacon. I tried it and was quite delicious. Tasted more like pastrami than traditional pork bacon. Very unique. Would definitely come back if in the area. Super great vibe to walk around downtown.

The food was great but didn't have a phenomenal taste for the price point it's at. I ordered the Makanek Sausage Hash and a hot matcha latte. The matcha latte was great and had the right ratio of milk to matcha (also wasn't too sweet). The hash was delicious and the presentation was incredible but unfortunately, it was over spiced for my liking. I could taste freshly crushed black pepper in every bite and it over powered the other flavors of the dish. At a higher price point, I'd expect the dish to have a better combo of flavors. Definitely still recommend this spot but it's not the same as I remember it!
