I've had breakfast here twice now and both visits were excellent. The food is delicious! I've had biscuits and gravy, a veggie omelette with broccoli added, a veggie omelette with home fries and rye toast. Found Taylor's Kitchen on our way to a wedding out-of-town. It's a small diner with a lot of character. The best part of our experience was the service. Everyone was super-friendly and welcoming, and the business appears to be women-owned. We enjoyed chatting with our server and she gave us some great suggestions for Detroit activities. I enjoyed the coffee, Western omelette, and the toast. The bacon was a bit chewy and the home fries more resembled hash browns. If I were ever in the Detroit area I would return to Taylor's and maybe try something else. read more

Great spot for breakfast or lunch, I have not yet tried dinner there. This restaurant has been in this location for over 50 years, albeit under various owners. I actually worked there at 14 years old as my first "paycheck" job after three years doing a paper route. Prices seem a little high, however, the menu is extensive, with a number of creative takes on diner food. The owner and staff are very friendly, service is good, although if you catch a busy Sunday after church, you may have a bit of a wait for your meal to arrive. My favorite little breakfast spot (also lunch, but trust me order breakfast). They have amazing omelets with huge portion sizes and great skillets, but I always get the Monte Cristo, its not deep fired and greasy, its light an fluffy with slabs of ham. Keep an eye on the specials, they had an amazing spicy sausage gravy a couple of weeks ago and my son still talks about missing the stuffed French toast when he forgot to read the board. The staff is amazing and attentive; you definitely get the small town diner vibe here. This is a family run business and you will most likely see the owner at the grill. This is just a great diner! Had a fantastic Southern Omelette (stuffed with sausage, home fries, cheddar cheese, onion, and topped with their fantastic sausage gravy - btw, they have great homemade biscuits), along with more great home fries, fantastic rye toast, bacon and two huge fluffy pancakes. Great service and clean inside. Love the Smucker's jellies (grape, strawberry, mixed berry, and orange marmalade). read more

On my way to the airport and decided to stop here for breakfast...decided to sit at the bar and one major observation: the staff here are SUPER kind and attentive! The location is located in a small shopping center and is on the far end! We were greeted with smiles and a Big Welcome upon arrival and told to sit wherever we prefer! The ladies were very accommodating and friendly, made us feel comfortable and gave us time to look over the menu. The food is made fresh and came to the table hot and perfect! What a great find. We went here for breakfast 2 days in a row. Both days the food was excellent, the prices were fair, and the atmosphere was relaxed, and they grind their beans fresh before they brew the coffee.We had the same server both days and she was very personable, attentive and even remembered that we were in town for a hockey game. I'm happy to report that Taylor's Kitchen is now back open now after being closed for a week or so recently. Even though a little short-staffed at the moment they have lost nothing. I had a their Cajun Country Griddle and it was great. If you're looking for a breakfast that will generate a little heat for you, this is the one to pick! I had it with some raisin toast that was included. All very tasty and a generous in portion size. My wife had a cup of the Cheeseburger Soup and the Vegetable Pita. She raved about the soup and said she would order it again. And, she also had good things to say about the pita. We also experienced the usual friendly service. read more

This was the best meal I've had so far in 2024!!! the chicken fried steak is amazing and you can tell they put heart into it!! the wait staff is amazing!!!! Both ladies were impeccable with their service!!! I'm from San Diego,CA and please believe when I come back to see the Detroit Tigers, this will be my first stop off of the plane!!! My husband and I eat breakfast here every time we visit family. Great, solid breakfasts and super reasonable prices. We would be charged double for the same order in Seattle. food is over priced and cooked half ass. ordered a chicken pita no tomato. food came found tomato on it. waitress took it back to the kitchen to fix it and brought it back within 120 seconds. The plate wasn't fixed they just pulled off tomatos that were in the open end and brought it back out. The kitchen staff had the nerve to say "sorry I couldn't fix your pita" you could have fixed it but you just decided to try and pull a scumbag move by changing plates and pulling off the tomato's from the open end and doing nothing else. it should have been remade in whole. IF YOU MESS UP AND ORDER AND ARE GOING TO FIX IT THEN FIX IT. the only reason this place has 4 stars is because of all the old people that come eat breakfast. You come in here past 11am you'll be heavily disappointed. read more

It is hard to say anything favorable about this restaurant as I have never been inside. Last Friday, my family were intending to have breakfast there as my niece and her family were preparing to return home to Pennsylvania. My niece had seen a favorable review and thought we all might enjoy gathering there. I arrived first at 8:45 a.m. The sign over the door said "open." The sign on the door said they open at "7 a.m. until...," we likely would not be eating breakfast that long. A natty looking sign beside the door said: "closed." The door was very much locked, the lights were off, and when I called the phone number, nobody was home. I've tried calling several times to see if they changed their hours, if they moved down the street, if they have gone out of business. No answer. Does anybody know? read more

We ordered carryout I ordered a country omelet the portion was pretty skimpy it was good though my fiance ordered a western omelet and received a pretty skimpy portion as well normally there is much more it's pretty sad when you're still hungry after eating it all also I always have leftovers for next day not this time We're pretty disappointed hopefully next time will be better. read more

Doesn't look like much but looks are Deceiving. This little diner is so homey and cozy It makes me feel like I'm on vacation in the south. The old country decor and the atmosphere itself is so warm and inviting. Don't be fooled though.,that's no greasy short order cook in the back that's chef Jeff..... and a chef he is.... First of all this little diner smokes their own meats, which is pretty surprising. Seems like everything on the menu was pretty much scratch made. Country fried steak breakfast was so good ..my daughter had breakfast roll up and added fresh mushrooms..the cowboy burger was huge it had that house smoked pulled pork on top a big onion ring and barbecue sauce it's pretty amazing. Hubs go to club sandwich was big and good. The sausage gravy is really good. The only thing that I didn't care for was the biscuit. They said they are home made, but it wasn't crusty like it was fresh, it was soft like it had been warmed up in a microwave. That was the only disappointment. I'll keep going back, just won't get a biscuit. I know that I had a mushroom Swiss burger ( fresh mushrooms, I do not like canned mushrooms so I ask before I order anywhere) but apparently I gobbled it before I took a pic which is strange since I took a pic of everyone else's? Recently reopened with new owners, they did a refresh on the restaurant, but it still has the charm of a classic diner. The food is fresh and homemade, with huge portions for breakfast. They still have the huge pieces of country ham and great omelets. Service can be a little slow when they are packed, but it is worth the wait. Great little corner restaurant. They now take credit cards with a service fee. read more

History

Established in 2010.

Taylor's Market has been a Sacramento institution since 1962. The neighborhood market had the opportunity to create it's own kitchen in an adjacent space in order to broaden the "grab and go" and deli selections. In the process, owner's Danny and Kathy Johnson decided to open Taylor's Kitchen at night for dinner service. Since then the restaurant has been praised locally and been involved in "Taste of Land Park", the "Tower Bridge Dinner" as well as several other local charities.

My go to was one of the breakfast bowls and it was always enough for two meals. I've dined in here and done take out and the quality of food was on point both times. My hubby added butter and sugar to it. They also sell sandwiches, burgers, salads and a whole bunch of dinner entrees.

I selected the cream of broccoli and can tell you that it was amazingly delicious. The flavoring was perfect and it was appropriately thick with lots of broccoli (of course) and delicate bits of carrots. A buffet was set up in our private room. There were salad makings available, with a large bowl of lettuce and separate bowls of fresh tomatoes and cucumbers. I passed on salad because I hadn't eaten breakfast and felt I needed to save myself for the entree portion of the buffet. I had chicken breast with mashed potatoes and vegetables. Salisbury steak was also an option. I was very happy with my food selections and the food was very hot. If this restaurant was anywhere near where I live, I can imagine being a frequent customer. It was the perfect choice, however, for the occasion as it was very close to the church and provided a comfortable venue for family members to offer condolences, share happy memories and enjoy a delicious meal. While I love to share photos, I didn't want to be inappropriate or obnoxious given the circumstances. Finally, I must say that there were many delectable desserts that I refrained from trying because I spent too much time in my car and was trying to limit my calories.
