    Biscuits & Gravy
    Ron R.

When you walk in you see all the older generation here and I have always said that if the older people are coming to an establishment that it HAS to be good because they do not put up with mid grade food and the colors in the restaurant are fabulous, it had a beach theme which was quite relaxing to see. So we sat right away and ordered coffee. The coffee is always good and fresh anywhere you go so we decided to order, the waitress was running around getting everyone's order, she was fast, friendly and a great server for every table. I ordered the Country Omelette & a half order of Biscuits & Gravy. The food came out exceptionally fast which is somewhat suspect but I have to say that the Country Omelette was VERY good, the cheese was very cheesy, the egg itself had a very good taste and the Gravy.... Oh my word, this gravy was off the chain, it did not taste canned it DEFINITELY tasted homemade, the biscuits did taste like they sat out a little too long and were a little hard but the taste of the gravy definitely did it some justice. Overall I have to say this is well worth it and maybe today just wasn't the best day for the biscuit but the gravy was AMAZING!! All the food was great, service was great and the ambience was awesome! To know that this is literally 5 blocks away from my house and I have never been here shows how much I pay attention to restaurants near me. Lol. Come here if you like Omelettes and gravy.

Stuffed Cabbage is delicious and on special.

I love this ma & pa spot. The Owners are absolutely amazing and treats his staff wonderfully. They close around the holidays so the staff can "be with their families". That was refreshing, they actually care. Not to mention being regulars I've seen them run the register, seat patrons, cook and deliver food to tables. Hardworkers! Total respect. My Husband loves their fish and seasoned fries, I'm partial to their dumplings and stuffed cabbage myself and Turkey Noodle Soup. Their Omelets are also out of this world. You really can't get a bad meal here. The prices are reasonable, the food is plenty and delicious. The service is always top notch. What more could you ask for?

Aww... The Flamingo I have some history here. I haven't been to this wonderful, little family owned gem in a while, not because of any negative reasons. I used to go almost weekly. This was my Grandma's favorite place. Our spot and weekly ritual. It is your typical diner with really good food. Breakfast being the star. Excellent omelettes, crispy hashbrows and fluffy golden pancakes. What's not to like. The lunch is also good. Great salads, l love the greek, plus some great homemade soups served with a nice bread basket. Service has always been good. The owner often there to check on guest. The decor is very cute, I love it. Tropical and beachy with you guessed it all kinds of flamingos everywhere which I love. Like I said I hadn't been here in a while. The main reason being it reminds me so much of my Gram. It makes me a little emotional. I however threw all caution to the wind Sunday morning and had a delightful breakfast, even if I did cry a little on my mushroom swiss omelette and hashbrowns. Here's to you Gram, I sure do love and miss you; )

Since the new owners took over the place, the hours are ridiculous. Go to caselli's or Leon's instead

This was an awful table to be at in here. We hardly had elbow room or table space, especially after the giant platter sized bread was out with all of the breakfast/ brunch items for half of the table. I ordered the Fazolia. Everyone else got omelets, burgers or wrap items. Yes, a couple of team members weren't keen on ordering Fasolia with scrambled eggs, large Greek salad, 2 lahm sighar (one with potato and one quit eggs), 2 smashed burger, Yemeni scrambled eggs, chicken fajita, Greek skillet, southwest skillet, chicken wrap, coffee, tea without milk, Turkish coffee, mint lemonade refresher. Every team member said their food was good. The scrambled eggs are a tad runny and looked a bit puréed. The fasolia has good flavor and even better with some heat. It came out piping hot. Without the added eggs, this dish would be woefully lacking in substance for me. I would likely still be left hungry with the beans alone, since I don't eat the bread, generally. I tried the bread to give it a go, it's good. The Greek salad is nicely plated or bowled rather. The ingredients are in separate piles and looks like a pinwheel. The red onions were crudely cut. The tomatoes looked wrinkled and not so appealing. The Greek salad was underwhelming for me. The tea doesn't taste good, definitely need some honey, sugar or the milk here, although I favor nothing in my tea.

This place is definitely worth a visit if you are ever in the Detroit area. First things first,…read morethey do not take reservations and they are always on a wait, that should tell you that they are good. We arrived in the middle of a snowstorm on a weekday. It was a Friday though around 11am and, predictably, they had a wait. We had to wait about 30 minutes for a table. It was totally worth the wait. Their ambiance is cute- the hallway is clean, they have bench seating and they put you on the list to get a text, so you could sit in the car if you really wanted to; we did not. They could use a foyer though. It was 22 degrees and snowing so every time the door opened we were instantly freezing. The menu is massive so if you're trying this for the first time and you're from out of town, honey bring as many friends as you can so that you guys can order everything!! Theeeee must have that I tried were the smoked wings. I have never had wings that were smoked and then fried baby they were crispy. They were seasoned to the bone and were delicious. I almost ate them all and had no room for anything else. We also did the berry pancakes which could feed 3-5 people alone; second of all, they're not overly sweet, which is why I did berries and not the peaches or anything like that; and, third of all, the pancakes are the size of your face, but they are fluffy and melt in your mouth! These were easily top two pancakes I've had in my life. We also tried the shrimp and grits, also a 10/10. A generous portion of shrimp, not overcooked and the sauce was bomb. They do put bacon on it if you're not a bacon eater pay attention. I tasted around it anyways but yes, we also tried a vegetarian omelette with home fries. This was just a 7/10 but probably because we only ever tasted it reheated because we were too full to touch it. It was 3 entrees and an appetizer and was definitely enough food to feed a family of seven. This is a must visit place, so if you are in the area and have never been: make time!!!! And take some friends. Each plate is a day's worth of calories!

I usually don't like to bring a group somewhere that doesn't take reservations but I took a chance on this place and happy I did. I ordered the berry pancakes and they were amazing. I don't like things to be too sweet first thing in am so I ordered without the cream cheese frosting and just added syrup which was perfect amount of sweetness. The portion was so huge I could only eat 1/4 of it. Everything else that was ordered around the table looked amazing and also had very generous portions.

The food was great but didn't have a phenomenal taste for the price point it's at. I ordered the Makanek Sausage Hash and a hot matcha latte. The matcha latte was great and had the right ratio of milk to matcha (also wasn't too sweet). The hash was delicious and the presentation was incredible but unfortunately, it was over spiced for my liking. I could taste freshly crushed black pepper in every bite and it over powered the other flavors of the dish. At a higher price point, I'd expect the dish to have a better combo of flavors.
