Soups have always been excellent and the varied menu has many good dinner options at reasonable prices. Waitstaff has always been friendly, attentive and knowledgeable if questions arise. If you like Southern Fried Catfish, RHR Is a must visit. Nearly every table and carry-out order was either the catfish dinner, catfish nuggets, or catfish & grits. This place was recommended to us by the ladies at the front desk of our hotel. The food was mediocre and not very hot. The beef on the French dip was tough and cold. The steak was tough and overdone with no seasoning. They automatically add 3.5% onto your bill when you pay with a credit card. There is a sign at the counter that tells you this when you're checking out. read more

Yum. We were in town for weekend and the weather was crappy. Rain rain rain. We had all kinds of plans but who wants to go out in the rain. So we were staying a few miles up the road from this spot. We came for breakfast and dinner in the same day despite the restaurant that was right in the hotel lobby. Breakfast: my guy n me too are pretty particular on eats. We asked ten thousand questions. Changed our order a few times. Staff was fast n friendly. We had the dollar size pancakes sausage, eggs, n the best homefries i have had in a while. I mean a good while. That food was hot seasoned n very darn good. I took my leftovers home n warmed up those home fries this morning trying to figure out how they got them so tender but crispy. Pancakes are the bomb. So failing at getting a reservation at Benihanas. Thank goodness I hate that place but babe loves it. We ordered from here again for dinner. Catfish n hushpuppies were delicious. Got a side of hummus. Yummy. Babe got lamb chops n he wasn't as pleased but loved his side salad n baked potato. I added on some brownies. Delicious also. Staff thanked us for coming back so soon. Spent $30 for dinner for 2 v $100 at Benihanas n got back early to enjoy our in room jacuzzi with no 2 hour wait. My guy did not mind missing Benihana. Recommended if your in the area. Hometown restaurants are always the best. This restaurant has been around for a long time. My family and I have eaten here many times. They gave great portions. Very flavorful food. Romulus House Restaurant has a very good menu. Their portion sizes are generous. The last time I was there I enjoyed the 'Southern Fried Catfish'. The fish was fresh and the breading was well formed. They arrived golden brown and delicious. There is plenty of parking and it is easy to get into the parking lot when heading south on Wayne Road. Use caution when heading north and crossing the road to get to the restaurant. The service was not what I would call snappy but it was adequate and businesslike. The coffee was hot and fresh. Had breakfast here one frigid, snowy morning. Ordered the Spinach and Swiss omelette - added mushrooms and onions to the omelette, plus a side of corned beef hash and coffee. Everything was pretty tasty. Hash had a nice crisp layer on top - just the way I like it. Coffee was pretty good. Service was friendly. I'd eat here again. Looking for a great place for breakfast and stumbled upon this restaurant. It was a great find. I enjoyed a delicious breakfast cooked to perfection and in large portions. The restaurant is situated on the main strip in a modest brick building. The owner greeted us and helped find a table. Perfectly sized restaurant. Not too big or too small. From the office, there are not many choices for real food. Stopped in to see how the food was and was glad to know it's a place to come back to. The broasted potatoes tasted like potatoes! The corn tasted like corn (although I added butter and salt). And the chicken was unique and yummy. My meal, including pop, came to $12. Probably worth it (especially since there's nothing else around) but I am use to spending less for lunch. read more

Always been a great place to visit, although I've only dined in here once. Of course, nowadays its carryout only and the hours have changed a lot but the food remains the same as it was before. Always keen on the catfish, grits and eggs, but their salads are great also and the staff has always been friendly and helpful. The Owner/Manager has a VERY bad attitude! I once received a salad that has brown lettuce. I took it back, and ask if they could remake it with fresh lettuce, and he got upset with me, started raising his voice, and tried to convince me that it was fine to eat. Since he wouldn't remake it for me. I asked him for a refund. The whole time I'm calm, but he was furious. He wouldn't refund me, but eventually got the salad remade, and no....... The lettuce was only slightly lighter then the first one. Keep in mind, when I discovered the lettuce browning on the first salad, I hadn't even left the parking lot yet his problem solving skills are non-existent, and I will not recommend this place to anyone. read more

If you are looking for a great breakfast place near DTW airport (probably not an accident), this is it. Wayne Road is just two exits (and a few minutes) away from the airport. The server (sorry, I did not catch her name) was very attentive and friendly. Judging by the number and diversity of people eating breakfast at 7:00 am, I would say the Romulus House has attracted a corps of local "regulars" along with out-of-area yahoos like me who are dropping friends and family off or picking up at DTW. The early breakfast menu is diverse and there is something for everyone. My server did a fantastic job of taking care of me and keeping my coffee from going empty. Decent but not spectacular breakfast spot. The meal began on an interesting note when we said "good morning" to the hostess who dropped off our menus. Instead of returning the greeting, she ignored us. Her response was so rude that we suspected she didn't understand English - perhaps not the best employee to be serving customers. We started the meal by ordering coffee, which arrived in tiny brown mugs. I love small mugs when refills are frequent, because the coffee stays hot - but it's no fun when the mugs run dry and your server is nowhere in sight. It was a constant battle to keep our mugs filled. I ordered the eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast special. It was just OK. The bacon was perfectly crispy, and the egg was fine, but the "hash browns" were actually sliced boiled potatoes that were barely browned at all. My step-mother ordered the veggie omelet, which was quite overcooked, even though the cheese, mysteriously, remained cold and unmelted. On the bright side, my dad loved the Belgian waffles with strawberries and whipped cream. My companion's BLT was excellent, despite a dose of mustard that was a bit too heavy. read more

I love a place that will let you pick between pancakes and hash browns as a side, it puts my husband in a fabu mood. If you are starving get the combo breakfast; two eggs (perfectly cooked to order, yay for real over easies), two bacon strips, two sausages, a slab of ham with grilled pineapple, toast and jelly and hash browns or pancakes. Yum but wow, yeah that's a lot. For dinner is probably a better bet than trying to tackle that at breakfast time. It's nothing fancy but its solid and made to order. My husband got his floppy as hell bacon without a blink but they did not overcook mine nor did they assume I wanted floppy. Coming back from the airport, the Bo and I were super hungry. I did a quick search on Yelp to see what breakfast restaurants are near the airport, and Romulus House Restaurant came up! I was hesitant to try it at first since there are only 9 reviews on Yelp, but all patrons who wrote a Yelp review seem to LOVE this place, and you know what? So do I! Right when you walk through the doors, you are greeted by a waitress and they tell you to sit wherever you want. There were only about 4 filled tables, so we had a lot of options. We glanced over their regular menu, but we really wanted the items on their "Breakfast Specials" menu (displayed on each table). Since everything is dirt cheap, we decided to order two items each to try a bit of everything. I was also a bit concerned that at these prices, there is no way they can produce yummy homemade food, but I was blown away by the quality and freshness of the breakfast items. What we got: Blueberry pancakes (comes with ham, bacon, or sausage links): My first bite and the subsequent bites after that one were amazing. Fresh and plump blueberries filled the soft pancakes. The Bo liked these pancakes a lot too. They definitely can give Northside Grill a run for their money. I choose the sausage links and they were wonderfully spiced and browned, soo yummy! Candied Pecan Waffle: This waffle was not overly sweet, and had candied pecans throughout the crispy outside and soft inside of the waffle, (this is how a waffle should be). The Bo liked the flavors, but he said he would prefer it to be a softer waffle, but I disagree with him. This was just f'ing delicious. Corned beef hash with 2 sunny side eggs: BEST CORNED BEEF HASH EVER! Generally, I am not a huge fan of corned beef hash from restaurants because most of them make it too damn salty. RHR makes this breakfast staple with finesse. The corned beef is perfectly seasoned and it's crisped so well on top that you get great textures,-yummy crunchy bits of corned beef, and velvety soft potatoes. 2 eggs over easy with ham, hash potatoes, & buttered wheat bread: Eggs were done perfectly that when I cut into the yolk it broke into the wheat bread, ham, and potatoes. It just needed a bit of salt and pepper. My only complaint about this meal was the potatoes weren't really a hash. Only the top portion was crispy and I wish more of the potatoes were crisped up a bit. I just wish RHR was closer to aa. I'm so used to paying $10+ for mediocre breakfast and brunch items in aa, and I'm jealous of Romulus residents being able to get this great food on the daily. Can't wait to go back! Inexpensive meals to be found here that are tasty and home-style, which was probably just what I needed the morning I had breakfast here. Simple foods consisting of eggs (over medium of course) and hashbrowns and rye toast (pass the jam please). Tasty overall, but it would delight me if they added Texas Pete to their hot sauce collection! That's the southerner in me. I've not yet tried anything other than breakfast but hope to - family diners like this one are so quaint and needed in a world of chain restaurants and hectic fast food so called "breakfast" offerings. I've heard that the soup/sandwich menu is decent so I will look at ordering one of those selections next time I visit, which I expect to soon. Recommended. Staff: 6/10 as my server looked stressed. ​I was here for a second time this past week and the first time I ordered the seafood platter which was all fried and delicious as well as filling. Since that first time a few months ago, I became vegan which means I don't eat anything from any animal including dairy, eggs, gelatin etc.. I made sure to look at the menu beforehand and I saw a few options that weren't just salad but had to ask the waitress to make sure how the food would be cooked. The nice young girl, Sammi, was super nice even though she didn't know what vegan meant and had to make several trips back to the kitchen to inquire on how the food was prepared, such as: are the fried zucchini and mushrooms cooked with dairy or egg in the batter? There is egg so they offered to sautee some mushrooms for me which were amazing! I also ordered the hummus with pita bread which was great. Then, a man, I believe the owner, came by and offered to make a Falafel sandwich, which tasted amazing and he was so nice. I also ordered an old standby: the Greek salad sans (without) cheese and when asked about their house made dressing they were unable to tell me whether or not there was dairy or other animal products because it's a "secret" so they instead offered oil and vinegar which I accepted. Overall this was a great experience and now I know that a vegan can successfully eat here and that they're accommodating and super friendly. Service was awful. I don't know our servers name since she never introduced herself but she was terrible. The breakfast was bland and had zero flavor. The gravy is ham gravy so be prepared. Since I don't care for ham I didn't really eat my biscuits and gravy. My boyfriend said his burger was great so that's a plus. He enjoyed his lunch. The flaming opa cheese was delicious though so if I'm ever craving it I'll come back but that's probably all I'll get. Side note, they have Pepsi products. read more
