Great mom and pop diner! The food reminds me of growing up here in Michigan. Service was great!

This place is great with reasonable prices. It's a true mom and pop diner. I miss places like this in Hawaii. It's my second time dining here. We ordered the mini breakfast with one egg, two slices of bacon and hash browns $4.95. We also got the corned beef hash with two eggs, toast & jelly $8.50. For the side orders we got a bowl of grits $3.50 and three piece pancakes $6.95. We washed it down with a coffee $3.50 and orange juice $3.95. Everything was good. Honestly, it's kind of hard to mess up breakfast items. The pancakes were huge and fluffy. It was my third time having grits and it's still meh to me. It's kind of like oatmeal, but more grainy. My hubby added butter and sugar to it. They also sell sandwiches, burgers, salads and a whole bunch of dinner entrees. read more

I wanted to take my nieces and nephews ojt to breakfast and decided to pay Sunnys a visit. When we walked in the door, the greeting wasn't very friendly. It was no hello, hi, how are you... just takeout or dining in and when I mentioned dining in, she wasn't too thrilled. So we chose our booth and sat down. The waitress attitude at the beginning was not welcoming at all. To the point where my nephew that is 6yrs old asked, whats wrong with her. We placed our order and when the food arrived, all of us where excited. The food looked and tasted great. Hats off to the chef. We had a table full of pancakes, French toast, eggs, bacon, sausage, and drinks. By time we were ready to go, the waitress seemed in a better mood. Maybe she was having a rough start to her day. I commented on her earrings to make her smile. Although the experience wasn't the best initially, we all have "off" days and i wont hold it against them. Solid breakfast spot right by the airport. Stopped here with my sister after my flight into the city. We got there fairly early, a little after 8 am and it wasn't busy at all. We could sit where we wanted and our waitress brought out the menus shortly after. They have an extensive menu with lots of breakfast staples. My sister and I both had the blueberry pancakes with a side of meat and we got a plate of their hash browns to share. The portions were huge!! I couldn't even finish my pancakes. They were fluffy and full of blueberries. The sausage and bacon we had was crisp and the hash browns were good. It was my first time eating them in the style they made them. They seemed more like scalloped potatoes. The only reason I knocked off a star was I used the bathroom and there was no soap in the dispenser. Good little old school coney diner close to the airport hotels and convenient to take out of town guests after landing or prior to a flight out. The service was great, friendly. The food was decent. No complaints at all. I enjoyed my cheese eggs with really tasty, well-cooked bacon. While my co-diner enjoyed corned beef hash. Wrong order. Argumentative staff. Zero accountability. Despite clearly explaining my order, it was made incorrectly. When I called, the waitress blamed me instead of owning the mistake. The owner then told me I would have to bring the food back for a remake or refund -- while I was already at work. That is lazy, unprofessional customer service. This restaurant is a pretty good breakfast joint very close to the airport. I flew into Detroit on a red eye flight and was starving. After waiting for my parents to arrive 2 hours after me, we agreed that we were all hungry and wanted to eat ASAP. I did a quick search on Yelp and found this place just outside of the airport. We parked, walked inside, and got seated immediately. After looking at the menu for a short period of time, we all decided to order the same thing -- the Big Breakfast. The deets: - Big Breakfast: It's actually a lot of food, hence the name Big Breakfast. It was 3 eggs, 2 pieces of bacon, 2 pieces of ham, 2 sausage links, hashbrowns, and 2 pieces of toast. Everything was good and tasted as it should. The hashbrowns were the biggest part of the meal. Service was alright, not bad but not amazing. Super friendly. Easy take out. I call it in, and once I arrive, I'm rung up in a flash and out the door. I like breakfasts best in here. The eggs ate always done right, and everything else is nicely browned, not burnt. My pet peeve is bad bacon, and this is not a floppy mess either. Just perfect. Lots of variety here, too. Stopped by here on the way to DTW and got the spaghetti with meat balls and it was delicious! Large portion with a meaty sauce and several large meatballs. Very affordable - an excellent value for what you get for the money. Our waitress was such a nice and wonderful lady. We witnessed her feeding what appeared to be a homeless man and giving him the contact information for help and resources. Ate here for the first time. Myself and my two friends all ordered food that included scrambled eggs. Two of us opted for American cheese. We received our food and immediately stated that the cheese smelled... different. I tried my eggs & the smell coming from the cheese was so nauseating that I didn't touch the eggs (I posted a picture and from that photo I had less than one bite). My friend complained that his cheese smelled weird, too. He figured maybe it was just what they cooked on and proceeded to finish his breakfast. Later on that evening he complained of stomach pain. Besides an iced tea, we hadn't had anything else to eat. He spent the next 5 hours in the bathroom throwing up/experiencing diarrhea. The next day was the same for me. My other friend who did not have cheese on her eggs has not experienced any ill effects. As I write this I'm literally sitting on my bathroom floor. If you have food in your establishment that's going bad, toss it out. Don't serve it to customers. I would recommend to anyone eating here in the future to ask for expiration dates. The food here is always quality. I like their salads with grilled chicken, their omelettes, and my guy likes their burgers and Greek salads. The service is always good, usually the same 3 waitresses with the owner on the grill. The decor is dated, but very,very clean. Prices are reasonable and I totally recommend this place instead of the chains by the airport. All the locals eat here, and everyone is welcome. read more

¡Muy bien! I have been here before, but today was my 1st check-in. After a long work day, I didn't feel like fighting traffic during rush hour, so I stopped for supper. A Mexican Omelette supper. So it looks pretty unassuming when you drive up, the parking lot is a little scary, but Im from detroit, and that just usually means the food is really good. We entered and sat down, waitresses saw us, but we waited about 10 minutes before someone approached us. It also smelled like old mop. But look- we had driven for awhile, I had a hungry baby, and We had already sat down- so we were gonna see this trip thru. Once we had our order taken ( by a very nice waitress) we felt more at ease, They must have just gotten over a rush and were getting things back in order ( or i hope). We got the food, and my husbands omelet looked delicious and was cooked very well. I had ordered a breakfast to share with the baby, and again, I was very pleased with the food. My eggs were scrambled nicely, the potatoes were cooked well, the bacon was crispy, and everything tasted fresh. The staff was actually very nice to us, complimented my daughter on her behavior and cuteness a ton too. Early morning breakfast in Detroit with my Relative. Pulled up at this spot because of the nice reviews and it was only a few blocks from the hotel. Awesome choice... Every time I go in there they're mopping the floor and cleaning. i've never had a problem here. I love their breakfast. I love their crispy bacon and they make one of the best club sandwiches around in my opinion. A hole-in-the-wall found on Yelp right off the plane @ DTW, and it was a legit stop-by. Found out that the diners in the MI regions were called "Coney Islands" - very intriguing. The hash brown was so good. Portion was humongous. The friendly waitstaff was a plus. Old-timer, nostalgic fell was another plus.
