First time here for a late breakfast. We are visiting for the UM graduation. It was a little busy but not crazy. Service was slow. Pleasant but slow. Big Egg breakfast was good. Sausage was kind of dry and no spice. Toast was very meh. Blues Brothers "dry white toast" comes to mind. Hot cakes (pancakes if you from the south) were made with cake mix. I am on a small 2-day trip to Detroit staying at the 4 Points Hotel nearby. We had passed by this place in our Uber this morning on our way to the Michigan v. Colorado State game. It's a convenient & short walk, just about 10 minutes or so if you choose to J-walk like we did. We weren't expecting much, but to our surprise, the food was very tasty! The salad was extremely fresh, the gravy was spot on, and their slow cooked turkey & pot roast were unbelievably good! The mac & cheese was a bit underwhelming as we felt there was a bad cheese to noodle ratio, but it was still pretty good. We made sure to purchase a loaf of banana bread before we had left. Their bread is amazing as well!! Our server Yasmine made our experience even better. Kudos to her for having such a positive & sweet attitude. Solid breakfast place. Had southwest omelet. They were out of the corn salsa, but the omelet was still good. Waitress was attentive, even though she had a lot of tables. I returned to this location a second time the next day. I had the farmhand biscuit sandwich platter. I especially liked the sausage gravy that came with the meal. 3 reviews in one! Be careful on takeout! Tuesday myself and 3 coworkers order lunch from here. We all ordered soups, chicken noodle was good beef veggie was good. The Cheddar potatoes soup taste like cheese wiz. Two of the girls got it and was disappointed. Today Friday we were gonna give it another shot. My coworker has moldy Broccoli! That went right in the trash! I ordered a chicken sandwich with fries. The chicken was burnt so bad on one side the other side wasn't to bad. I took a few bites to see if it was chewable or even edible. It wasn't. Lunch was a complete waste. So now our office has hungry upset women who are lunchless. Bad combo here! I don't understand why, however, every time I try to order from this location they are always out of something. They were out of chicken a few months back so I decided to order soup so I didn't waste my break coming up here but they were out of that too. Normally I wouldn't mind because I can understand being short staffed or just running out of popular dishes but it's every time. Not only that they don't tell you until you walk in there to get your order. I've ordered on DoorDash and they confirmed the order and waited 25 minutes for the dasher to get to the restaurant to tell them they didn't have whatever item. I am not sure who said there was vegetarian options, you'll be disappointed it's a basic salad. There aren't many vegetarian options excluding cheese or dairy if you're that type of eater. My food came out quick while on layover, so that was very shocking and a happy surprise, it's like a Cracker Barrel decore wise, but I was happy to explore what they offered. The decore gives a home type feeling and relaxing . Tina/Tia my server was extremely pleasant and nice, it was my first time to a Bob Evan's, but her presence was gentle, kind and soft. She truly didn't want to interject, almost like if she could serve and not interrupt she would, when she spoke it was very kind, she looked at you and spoke to you. I went around 10:30am because I could not check in to my hotel and hadn't eaten yet after trying to figure out a cancelled flight. I got a table for one and the person that sat me brought me coffee. Multiple tables got sat and had orders taken. I could not get the servers attention long enough to take my order and sat for close to 45 minutes. After I decided to leave I waited about 5 minutes to pay for the coffee which the cashier told me not to worry about it. Wow! I was very impressed with this place, my first meal in the area and the waitress was excellent ! Kayla was friendly, attentive and informative. I ordered the biscuits and gravy and the biscuits were freshly baked, warm and just delicious. The gravy was flavorful and complimented the biscuits perfectly. Good restaurant with perfect service. For no alcohol drink, I order the strawberry lemonade, it is 2.76$ and sweat and favorite drink. Cool and enjoyable. For entrees, I like the Great Alaskan Cod. You know what I love Bob Evans? Their biscuits drizzled with honey. Scrumptious and finger licking good. We don't have a Bob Evans in Phoenix since they are predominantly located in the Midwest and Eastern states, so having one near my hotel in Romulus was a treat. Breakfast items here are cheap and I usually order just a typical breakfast which consist of eggs and hash. Another thing I love about Bob Evans is they have free refills on hot chocolate. They also have complimentary wi-fi internet connection. The honey biscuits that came with my breakfast was fabulous. I'm going to have to work out twice as hard in the gym now that I had two! Oink! Food: I came here to eat a simple dinner before running a marathon the next day. I ordered a Smokehouse Burger with green beans and a baked potato. I had an iced tea to go with the meal. The burger was pretty good and so was everything else. The green beans tasted good with the added ham. Service: I was promptly seated when I came here for dinner. Service was nice and courteous, however was a bit slow. I didn't mind since I wasn't in a hurry anywhere. My waiter did eventually stop by and refilled my iced tea several times. It's a bland chain, but you know what you're getting. My very first impression of our server was not very positive and I was wrong. (I improperly judged a book by its cover and I am ashamed of myself that I did) She was extremely friendly and sweet. She took very good care of us and I would sit in her section anytime. I ate molded bread from Bob Evan's 41190 Ford Rd in Canton today. When I spoke to Alex, the manager about it, he became very angry with me and continued shouting at me instead of simply saying "sorry this happened". That was all I wanted. I asked him kindly, why he was so upset since I'm the one who ate the mold? He stated he didn't care that I ate the mold and he didn't care if I told anyone. Tell Corprate, tell Yelp, I DON'T CARE! So here's my first ever Yelp review. It's Saturday, so I left a msg with his corporate office as well. He should not be a manager! He made the situation much worse by being hostile, and obnoxious, and embarrassing me in front of his staff and other customers. This is probably the best Bob Evans I've ever been to! First off the staff was great. My waitress was Brittany and she was really accommodating and super sweet. Also the hospitality manager checked on me during my meal. I was eating by myself and he stayed and chatted with me a little which was great after the long trip I just had. I didn't realize the menu had gotten so diverse since I've been here last. I got the $10 three course meal, which is a steal! It came with your choice of bread, an appetizer of soup or salad, I chose the entree with two pieces of dark chicken with two sides and a dessert of a cookie but you'll have the choice of other cookies or ice cream Sunday. The cookie was huge and I took it home. The food was definitely above average. I put hot sauce, butter and honey on my fried chicken and the skin was super crispy but the meat was juicy! I mean I just wouldn't have expected this time of service or quality of food here. I'll definitely be coming back next time I'm staying in this area for work. Promotions included an all you can eat pancake breakfast ($4.99 and up), $6 weekday breakfasts, $5 soups, and $5 salads. They also have burgers, sandwiches, etc. It's a friendly, warm place with soft elevator music playing and a bright, contemporary look reminiscent of Panera Bread. They have various freshly baked cookies, muffins, and desserts at the register along with mixes, candy, syrup, etc. * Biscuit bowl ($6): The base was a giant rounded buttermilk biscuit (looked like a pizza crust bowl). It was topped with cheddar cheese, fresh spinach, tomatoes, scrambled eggs, chopped bacon, scallions and cheddar cheese. The eggs were tender. The bacon wasn't crispy and the abundance of bacon made the dish too salty. The worst part was the biscuit bowl. It wasn't fluffy but was unpleasantly dense and very dry. Every visit here has been kind of a disaster. They have a friendly but rather inefficient staff. Our recent visit had both orders totally messed up. My husband got the wrong type of steak (again), they forgot one of my side dishes, both our other sides had missing or wrong items on them. When my forgotten side was brought mid meal it had the wrong gravy on it. My husband's correct type of steak was then brought out, grossly undercooked (he asked for medium and it was under rare), I then waited until the very end of the meal to get the correct mashed potato side with chicken gravy, a not so fun *dessert*. I am kind of funny. I like to eat my meals all at once. The food here is reasonably tasty but I swear every.single.Bob.Evans we attempt to dine at in the greater metro Detroit area Fs up our orders consistently. Breakfast or dinner orders, always at least two things wrong.Trust me, we are fairly basic people, serving us at a casual dining restaurant is hardly brain surgery. If not for extremely frequent buy one get one free coupons we would probably never dine at any Bob Evans.
