If you order wings always ask for extra sauce, the wet flavor wings come out too dry. They're too skimpy on the sauce for some reason ? Also, not sure why...but the wing basket of celery and carrots comes out like 10min before the wings. Pictured: Patrick's hot - It's got some heat... but very edible. Catches up after a few. Blu cheese is ok. It's got nice chunks but the dressing side is very lite Cheers!

Not sure why I expected anything different when we went there today. Today's experience: Our server took our order in a very reasonable timeframe, but we waited close to 50 minutes for our food to arrive. And this was on a weekday; they were busy but not packed. No one came by to provide any kind of explanation. When the food finally arrived, my fries were cold and we had to ask twice for refills on our beverages. We had to go to the bar to get utensils and napkins because the server never brought them. As we were leaving, a couple at another table had just gotten their food and had the same problem-- they needed utensils and napkins. This isn't the first time we've experienced very slow service at Patrick's Pub. I don't know what the issue is, but I'm sorry to say I probably won't ever go back to Patrick's for a meal.

They also have a big menu for drinks at a pretty reasonable price. I was surprised about how many people were there for an early dinner on a Thursday, must be a popular local spot! We had the smashed fingerling potatoes, it was pretty delicious and I liked the ranch that came with it. There was a lot of toppings on top too! For my main, I got the seafood risotto. It had shrimps and bay scallops. It had a generous amount of seafood in it. By then I was full but they had good sounding desert, including a GF Bundt cake! I wish I had saved some space for it. For my drinks, I had one of their speciality mules: Maggie's mule. It was kind of too sweet for me.

Food was good. Prices are good. Wine is bad. Service was even worse…read more Our "server" was the host covering for their lack of servers so he had no idea what he was doing. I waited at the host stand to be acknowledged for 10 minutes (learning after the fact that it was because they pulled the host to serve). Once we sat down nobody came to check on us for another near 10 mins. He was very nice, told us that this was his first time serving, we ordered drinks, appetizers and entrees all at once to help expedite service and alleviate the pressure on him. Food came out fast and hot, but we watched our drinks sit on the bar for 20 mins while we ate our appetizers, while our server was stuck talking to the same table the entire time. Our entrees came out promptly and we had to ask the food runner to deliver our drinks, and he was very nice and did for us. We were not checked on by our server or anyone else the rest of the meal, despite having empty waters before our entrees were even out. Once we were done we had to watch our server talk to another table for at least 10 minutes without even so much as looking in our direction before we were finally able to get his attention to close out. Everyone we did get to talk to was very nice and the food was very good, portions were large, and hot, and prices were great for the quality. It's a shame the rest of the experience was not up to par. I love the idea of this place, and if they were to get a little more help in the way of experienced and reliable servers we would give it another try, but ultimately we were disappointed.

We were thrilled when they reopened. Our waitress was phenomenal and so very attentive and personable all evening. We were seated in a tucked away alcove that was simultaneously intimate/charming and somewhat off putting. The table was small and underneath some ceiling pipes next to the widows with a wooden artsy room screen to hide whatever door was behind it. The food was good although a bit overpriced compared to the food at other high end places in Pittsburgh. We started with the tuna tartare that was very tasty and the cold mushroom app that was just okay, nothing too special. We also tried the straight forward sherry bisque (a few crumbled crackers from our small bread plate helped give the bisque body and texture). The dinner rolls/crackers have been the source of countless bursts of laughter over the past week. They were comically small and you can't ask for more because they only bake enough for one per customer. The homemade applesauce accompaniment was really good. Seriously though, kick up the bread plate at the meal price point. Entrees we tried were the short rib and halibut. The short rib was nicely cooked and a big portion. The halibut was not seasoned much and the white beans underneath were a little too al dente. The pumpkin cheesecake was very delicious as were the espresso martini's. This is such a charming romantic place. Hoping they can bring their pricing back in line with the quality of food they are presenting.

Downey's House provided the local spot I needed. Local marinara & meatballs made with the same recipe of the old Main Hotel that was in Carnegie for nearly 100 years. That bowl of pasta was SCRUMPTIOUS and just what I was after. I even talked my lovely wife into doing up her salad 'Pittsburgh style', which means adorning the salad with fries. And yes, it's as good as it sounds. Thrown in a protein like grilled chicken and that is a banger of a meal. Great dining area with a square-shaped bar and TVs with sight-lines in any direction. The service is friendly and helpful, and prices are probably lower than at some chain-y eatery that just makes your food via assembly line. It's local and sensational!

But then again, I am vegetarian, so I didn't think they offered anything for me. I've looked at the menu online more than once, and didn't see any sandwiches designated vegetarian each time. But I was meeting a friend before a concert on the RMU campus, and this was conveniently located 1 mile away, and it had food and beer. I kept an open mind and figured, I'll just modify one of their sandwiches. When I arrived, I learned they also have a pizza option. But I still thought... when in Rome... There was a black bean option listed on their wall menu, but the waitress double-checked for me and we learned together that they use to offer that option, but no longer do. Damn. There was however a cheese (no meat) option on the menu, which I was surprised wasn't on the online menu. But I'll take it! Their sandwiches are interesting in that instead of sides of french fries and cole slaw, the sides are just stacked into the sandwich to make it a quick easy convenient meal! The draft beer selection was good, the sandwich was decent enough, and the service was great (weekday evening). In the end, I am not sure I'd run back for my one sandwich menu option, maybe I'd try their pizza, or go for some sides, or just stop in for a beer on my way to my next show.
