The pop-up bar area itself is pretty small, but they have a huge heated tent with lots of seating right next to it.

There was a black bean option listed on their wall menu, but the waitress double-checked for me and we learned together that they use to offer that option, but no longer do. Damn. There was however a cheese (no meat) option on the menu, which I was surprised wasn't on the online menu. But I'll take it! Their sandwiches are interesting in that instead of sides of french fries and cole slaw, the sides are just stacked into the sandwich to make it a quick easy convenient meal! The draft beer selection was good, the sandwich was decent enough, and the service was great (weekday evening). In the end, I am not sure I'd run back for my one sandwich menu option, maybe I'd try their pizza, or go for some sides, or just stop in for a beer on my way to my next show. Local marinara & meatballs made with the same recipe of the old Main Hotel that was in Carnegie for nearly 100 years. That bowl of pasta was SCRUMPTIOUS and just what I was after. I even talked my lovely wife into doing up her salad 'Pittsburgh style', which means adorning the salad with fries. And yes, it's as good as it sounds. Thrown in a protein like grilled chicken and that is a banger of a meal. Great dining area with a square-shaped bar and TVs with sight-lines in any direction. I waited at the host stand to be acknowledged for 10 minutes (learning after the fact that it was because they pulled the host to serve). Once we sat down nobody came to check on us for another near 10 mins. He was very nice, told us that this was his first time serving, we ordered drinks, appetizers and entrees all at once to help expedite service and alleviate the pressure on him. Food came out fast and hot, but we watched our drinks sit on the bar for 20 mins while we ate our appetizers, while our server was stuck talking to the same table the entire time. Our entrees came out promptly and we had to ask the food runner to deliver our drinks, and he was very nice and did for us. We were not checked on by our server or anyone else the rest of the meal, despite having empty waters before our entrees were even out. Once we were done we had to watch our server talk to another table for at least 10 minutes without even so much as looking in our direction before we were finally able to get his attention to close out. Everyone we did get to talk to was very nice and the food was very good, portions were large, and hot, and prices were great for the quality. It's a shame the rest of the experience was not up to par. I love the idea of this place, and if they were to get a little more help in the way of experienced and reliable servers we would give it another try, but ultimately we were disappointed.

No one came by to provide any kind of explanation. When the food finally arrived, my fries were cold and we had to ask twice for refills on our beverages. We had to go to the bar to get utensils and napkins because the server never brought them. As we were leaving, a couple at another table had just gotten their food and had the same problem-- they needed utensils and napkins. This isn't the first time we've experienced very slow service at Patrick's Pub. I don't know what the issue is, but I'm sorry to say I probably won't ever go back to Patrick's for a meal.

The food was good although a bit overpriced compared to the food at other high end places in Pittsburgh. We also tried the straight forward sherry bisque (a few crumbled crackers from our small bread plate helped give the bisque body and texture). The dinner rolls/crackers have been the source of countless bursts of laughter over the past week.
