I typically stay at the Doubletree at Green tree that's 15 minutes away... The food there is so much better. I ordered the Pittsburgh salad tonight and the steak was frozen pre-cooked. The other location has. Steak that's amazing. I will not stay here again, although the remodel on the rooms is nice. So if you don't care about the food, it's a good choice. It's so close to the airport. But I would rather stay at Greentree or Robinson Mall area. Hilton properties they are much better. read more

The vegetable panini was just okay (red onions were undercooked and very sharp), but the corn chowder was good, and the braised short rib was EXCELLENT with mashed potatoes and carrots. While staying at the PIT Airport Doubletree I stopped in here one morning for breakfast. They offer a buffet for $18 (current price as of 6/28/23) and a regular a'la carte menu too. I opted for the breakfast quesadilla from the breakfast menu. They give a carafe of coffee on the table, which was just ok, but wasn't very bold (more watered-down) and was warm, not hot. The quesadillas came out within about 10 mins, which was good for my tight timeline. They tasted decent, nothing special, but definitely tasty. Service was decent... though I will say the ladies working here were very friendly. Not a bad option when staying at this hotel for breakfast. But Egg N'at is right next door and I've been there before, definitely a larger, more creative menu and better execution for breakfast. read more

I was skeptical about this place based on reading the reviews before I went, and I was correct in feeling that way. The food was fine, but way overpriced. You shouldn't be spending $45 on an entree that is just "ok" & service/ambiance that is worse. The wine list is super small, and the waitress took a really long time to return with our order (even though it was just a bottle of sparkling). I tried to order a different glass with dinner & I was brought the completely wrong drink (I ordered a pinot grigio but was brought a red wine). The food was the best part of the experience, although I think I just happened to order well. I got the lobster bisque (seafood forward & spicy) & the mussels (huge portion & tasty broth). Others at my table ordered the steak, however, & said it was extremely fatty & not cooked well. Further, the waitress completely forgot to enter my boyfriend's order so his food arrived WAY later than ours (the manager did comp him a soup, though, so that was at least handled decently). Ordered the burger with a salad in stead of fries ($4 up charge). Was pretty impressed with the burger given this is a bar at a hotel near an 'airport'. Cooked to temperature and had a nice char grill and taste to it. The salad was huge so well worth the additional money. It was a clean fresh salad and a good pairing to the burger. I would eat this burger over again, and again. Also ordered two reds to drink. Same reds both times but the second most of come from an older bottle so it was a bit off. I loath blue cheese so I opted for the vinaigrette, which was nice. It was topped off with loads of bacon... you know bacon makes everything taste better! The shrimp tacos I did not really like. They were batter fried. I prefer grilled, no batter. My mistake, I took waitress suggestion without reading the menu. Nonetheless, I left 2.25 tacos out of three. The sauce was not so special either. Solid reputation for a good business lunch. The service is attentive and the food is very good. I know it's a hotel restaurant, but it's well managed and very professional. Not too bad, but nothing over the top since they are supposed to have chefs; shrimp was nice sized. The calamari appeared to be frozen, not freshly breaded. They poured the chili glaze on it which then obviously made it soggy. The salad was kind of two rolled of sections of lettuce with very little dressing drizzled around the plate. This review is for the bar experience, and what an experience it was. I understand that this is in an area that is more college than not (especially since a dorm is within walking distance) and that it is attached to a hotel. But the standards should have been a little bit higher, especially since the bar manager was in the establishment the whole time I was there. Came here after attending a wedding just to continue on the buzz I already had going. Heck, I was staying within the hotel itself so I had no worries about transportation and when I was done could just go up to my room. It's a nice space inside and you can tell they put detail into the decoration. The bar itself is quite big, stretching for quite a distance and more than enough seating around it for a large group of friends that want just mingle. The bar manager was out and about greeting patrons. Stopping by every table and stool and having a good time. However, when some patrons got rowdy, he barely did anything about it (more on that later). Drink prices were the norm for any bar in Allegheny County and decent tasting as well. Now, back to the rowdy crowd. As I stated prior, this is kind of a gathering spot for some local college students. The old Holiday Inn that is now a dorm for Robert Morris is right across the parking lot. Other wedding guests and myself were having a good time and the somewhat entitled college kids decided we were having too good of a time. In fact, at one point a few of them attempted to pick a fight with some of the wedding guests. What did the bar manager do, nothing. He watched. After that little fiasco, I decided to finish my drink and retire for the night. Drove 40 min to Arrive at 5:20 for 5:30 reservation. Pretty much sat down the minute we arrived. Came there for Snack and cocktails before 7 PM show 4 minutes drive away. Informed our server we had a show to go to. I think (1 1/2 hour)should have been enough time to eat a snack and get to the show. Waited 15 to 30 min before we could even order a cocktail. 6:50 our salads (seriously salads?) finally show up, which gives us 10 min to eat, pay and get to the 7 pm show. So disappointed in this start to a special evening of which friends who drove over an hour to meet. I believe this place should expect more business when there is a show 4 min away and should be more prepared for their table service, bar, and kitchen. At the very least they should have offered us a complimentary cocktail or something for this ridiculous delay. At this point "sorry" just was not getting it. By the time these salads came we had to shove them down and run out of there. Salad was yuk! Was supposed to be "mixed greens" and arrived with iceberg lettuce. The texture was good and the vegtables were not overcoked but it lacked any real taste. I also had the chipotle shrimp tacos. They were larger than expected which was good but the shrimp seemed to be Sysco-style premade crunch-turd shrimp lumps and not whole shrimp, which, for $14, you should not be serving me. It was accompanied by a side of tortilla chips and salsa which were obviously prepackaged and bland. How hard is it to make some pico de gallo or homemade salsa? The only reasons you are not getting two stars is the waitress was very pleasent and deserves to be working at an establishment where they actually care about the ingredients and are not relying on premade staples. read more

They did not disappoint. They are a boneless beef rib that was as tender as any fillet. The hash, asparagus, and mushroom that came with the dish were very good as well. The only thing I would change is the sauce reduction. It was a tad too sweet and the dish could have done with less so you could taste the amazing meat and sides. I think that's the advantage, not TOO many choices......focus on really good dishes !!!! Past, Fish, Seafood and Steaks. Only 2-3 selections per category, but all are top notch. We had a Filet, NY Strip, Salmon and Chicken Breast. All we're prepared perfectly. Service was prompt, courteous and attentive. Not overly attentive, but just right. Waiter also knew the menu.......such a plus. Wine list is same as the menu, not overbearing with a bunch of $000's bottles. Names you know at prices you'll like. So so doubletree bar. Bar maid does too much talking and not paying attention to customers. #1 rule in bartending NEVER leave the bar unattended. She did it 4 x in 2 hours. I'm here on business, two nights. Jackson's is located inside the Hilton Double Tree hotel. I stayed next door at the Hampton Inn. The first night I ordered the NY Strip with grilled asparagus and a wedge of Romain Ceasar salad. Cindy was the chef last night and my steak was perfectly cooked medium rare. Cindy prepared a very tasty sauce with the strip and the asparagus was perfectly grilled and tender. I asked for melted butter to dip my asparagus... no problem. Tonight Joe was the chef and I ordered the Sea Bass and shrimp. Everything was delicious with two generous cuts of fish with three large butterflied shrimp, in a cream sauce to die for. Service was prompt and courteous both nights. I sat at the bar both nights and watched the bowl games on Monday. read more

No wonder the place was empty on a Saturday night at 7:00. The salad of fire/hydrant greens had 4 cherry tomatoes, one slice of a red onion and a teaspoon of goat's cheese. Not enough dressing to hydrate the greens. The kid's mac and cheese had a good taste but no accompaniments. Totally wasted on the kid's menu. No refill on our soft drinks. I am not sure where the negative review came from. I just had an excellent NY Strip dinner with cheddar bacon grits and broccolini. It was very good. Contrary to a prior review, there was no pizza on the menu. Yes, there is a TV on the inside end of the booth. However, you are free to adjust the volume, change the station, or just shut it off. I was traveling and dining alone so I actually liked it. I got caught up on the days events while I waited. My steak was ready very quickly. The waitstaff was attentive but not overbearing.
