I stopped by here this past Saturday with my wife and kids for dinner. This was actually our second visit to Curry Mouth. Our first visit was right after they opened and with the long lines we ended up going elsewhere, so I was excited that this time we were able to walk right in and order. Curry Mouth sits in a strip mall in Moon Township. The inside is somewhat small with seating for about 10 to 20 people. They have a fun beach mural on the wall which my kids loved and you can also watch them grab food from their hot foods area. For dinner on this evening I started out with the doubles and then also ordered the curry chicken and roti while my wife went with the stew chicken meal. The menu described the doubles as flattened deep fried dough, eaten like a taco, garnished with curry chickpeas, cucumber and tamarind sauce. My curry chicken was described as boneless or bone-in curry chicken with curry chickpeas, potatoes and roti. My wife's was described as boneless or bone-in brown stew chicken with white rice, red beans and macaroni pie. After a short wait we had our food and were on our way. As soon as we got to the car we both tried the doubles and it was excellent. The curry chickpeas had great flavor, the dough was soft and satisfying, and I especially loved the sweetness from the tamarind sauce. Everything came together really well. Once we got home I was able to try my entrée and enjoyed that as well. The chicken was cooked nicely and the potatoes were soft. The star for me though was the roti which I think was brushed with butter or ghee and had a flavor that I really liked. My wife also especially enjoyed her macaroni pie and said this is a place she would happily go back to. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. We enjoyed everything we ordered, especially the doubles, and I am looking forward to trying more of the menu.
Absolutely loved the food and the service was amazing. My only issue is not their fault its the distance I have to travel to get there. I live East so it's a bit of a ride. The food and music had me grooving. I love soca and dancehall. They were playing dancehall during my visit. I had Roti and since I couldn't choose between curry and stew chicken they allowed me to get a combination of both. Full of flavor and very hearty. I'm looking forward to going back to try other menu items.
Nice little place tucked into a strip mall in Coraopolis. They have a few different vegetarian items on their menu and offer a nice little side salad with a little more thought put into it than I would have expected. We ordered takeout, which worked very well. There's no online ordering page, but the menu on their web site is up-to-date and it was easy enough to call and place an order. Everything was very well packaged, and pickup was very easy. In terms of food, everything was nicely presented, but could have used a touch more flavor. I don't know if that means adding some hot sauce on the side or boosting the seasoning in each dish, but most of the dishes could have used a bit of something. It's possible that's entirely an issue with the vegetarian options. Beyond needing a touch more seasoning, the ingredients were fresh and the food was very nicely done. The salad was a nicely sized serving of something fresh to go with the curry. The roti was a single piece of a fairly large flakey flatbread that seemed perfect for scooping up curry. The vegetarian curry was good, with a variety of flavors and textures all in one bowl. The vegetarian stew with macaroni pie was a very Trini combination, but there was quite a bit more rice than stew. All told, this seemed like a well-run business delivering a nice variation on fast casual. It's a business I am happy to support and will definitely check out again.
I stopped in today to Curry Mouth for the first time for lunch. I have never had food from Trinidad before, so I tried the Curry Mouth Sampler. It comes with Roti, Curry Chicken, Doubles (Fried Dough with Chana (Chick Peas)), and Pholourie (Deep Fried Dough Balls served with a Tamarind Sauce). To drink, I had the Sorrel. I thought the drink was a little too sweet for my liking. I love the Sorrel at Kaya down in the Strip, and was hoping this would be similar, but it was just too sweet for my taste. The food was great. I loved the Curry Chicken (very flavorful but not spicy) and Roti (would have liked to have more of the chicken). The Doubles and Pholourie were good too, but I think overall, the sampler plate is a little bit too carb heavy. I would definitely come back and try Curry Mouth again if I was in the area . . . Cheers!
Enjoyed the concept of counter service Trinidadian food. Staff member was super friendly and passionate about the menu. I appreciated the side options that allowed me to try multiple things. The main courses were nicely priced but on the smaller side portion-wise. But after adding the additional sides, I left full. Their spicy sauce was fantastic and really enjoyed the doubles fried dough with Channa. I'd like to try the pelau next time instead of the curry. I'll definitely be back!
We tried Curry Mouth twice since it opened October 15th and it has been consistently welcoming, flavorful, and offers generous portions. The owners are so great at explaining the menu items and you can see and taste the love that is put into their recipes. We've ordered to-go twice. Our first visit Kate was amazing educating on what to order and when I met Kern and Wynston on our second visit they were equally as kind and helpful! What a joy it is to visit Curry Mouth. Highly recommend the All Inclusive Sampler to get to try a nice variety of the menu. Also, don't sleep on the beverage options. We've tried the Sorrel and Trini Lemonade as well as some amazing bottled beverages. They all pair amazingly with the eats. We are so grateful Curry Mouth is in our community and look forward to future visits!
Food was absolutely delicious! We shared the sampler which was enough for two of us. We especially loved the Pholourie. It is counter service, the counter server was very friendly and answered all of our questions. We will definitely be back.
We found Curry Mouth thanks to yelp. So glad we did! Kern and Kate run it. So friendly and willing to explain all of the menu items. I can't eat gluten and they have a separate gf menu. Also vegan menu. Food was great and the special drinks they make are so delicious. We had the hibiscus drink and the taste was out of this world. It was sweet, so Kern mixed water into it to make it less sweet for our taste. It actually complemented the food. Amazing.
If you are in Pittsburgh you need to stop at this place and get some fresh healthy food. Seriously you will be very happy with the food and prices. We are so grateful for this restaurant ! Great customer service fresh food plenty parking and very clean!

Wow, wow, wow. My husband is West Indian and I'm Balkan so we don't always see eye to eye when it comes to curry/spice level. I do love Trini food but as I get older I can tolerate less spice and I can surprisingly say that I was able to eat every single thing that we got without my mouth burning lol. My husband got the TRINI sampler and I got the all inclusive sampler-I also shared my meal with our 2 year old daughter and she loved it all! The doubles were perfect, the pholourie was so yummy-fried to perfection and the curry chicken was flavorful without a kick as was the stew chicken. Everything was wow! My husband and I both REALLY enjoyed our meals and will be back! read more
Good food at a reasonable price. This is a small Trinidadian restaurant in a strip mall. There are 5 tables, but it looks like they do a lot of takeout business. I absolutely love the Sorrel (Hibiscus drink). It's beautifully spiced and refreshing. You order at the counter when you arrive. The owners are passionate about the food and they warmly welcomed me. The Jamaican Reggae music makes an inviting space. read more

The smells that hit you when you walk in the door are divine! I love having Curry Mouth in the neighborhood. I refer to Moon as big box suburbia so Curry Mouth is a fantastic addition to our restaurant options. Last time I was in I got a curry mouth sampler for lunch to go. It's a great way to try a few different menu items and for only $10! Everything is so flavorful and made with so much love. Their houses are house made as well as a couple delicious drink options. The restaurant itself and area behind the counter is sparkling clean which shows how much love is going into their space and their dishes. If you live in another area of town Curry Mouth is worth the drive!! read more

The food is always piping hot, and fresh. If you've never tried Trinidadian food, this is the place to go! don't be fooled by the name, the curry is a spice rather than a heat level that people may think. It's not too spicy, but just right to get the flavors! At least give her a try and see what you think, can't knock it till you try it! read more

What a fantastic place - owners are so nice and explained all items in the sampler, how it is traditionally eaten and an eating strategy. I can't believe I didn't know about this sooner thank goodness I saw it on Pittsburgh Today Live. Not sure I can pick a favorite but the Doubles are fantastic. No worries about things being too hot or spicy - it isn't -- and you can add sauces that will make it so if that's what you desire. Met two of the owners' four children - what fine young men so polite and helpful! Don't hesitate please go to Curry Mouth!! read more

I had the utmost pleasure of dining in a True Trinidadian owned restaurant. I cannot fully express the delight of walking into the establishment and being greeted with the warm echo of the Trini accent. This newly opened establishment is called Curry Mouth and is located in Coraopolis at 1136 Thorn run road in the plaza near the police station. Hours 11-9. You will not be disappointed! The pepper sauce on point, the tamarind sauce splendid, the mango chutney the best. Think bussup shot, curry chicken, doubles , pelau. The curry accompanies the roti skin like perfection. We finally have a place to get good Trini food Pittsburgh! read more
