The place is small, clean and the staff are very friendly. I tried the beef stew with some fufu and papaya juice. All were great , the beef stew was flavorful but didn't deviate too far from regular beef stew I have had in other places, I wish it was more unique or had more spices , it was still good. The fufu was good but tends to stay hot longer because of how it's packed so be careful burning your mouth. I like to dip the fufu in the beef stew and eat both together . The papaya juice was light and refreshing, a unique drink option compared to typical sodas. Give this place a try if you haven't had traditional African food before. They also gave me a samosa on the house which was nice and a bit spicy , it tends to be oily but was flavorful. Hoping to come back and try other menu items, especially the goat stew. I was a bit surprised that the price for the meal was higher than expected , especially for the amount of food you get and the other options in the area but it's worth it given the authentic food you get.

What a hidden gem! This place has definitely been on my list since it opened. I've tried to come…read moretwo times before. First time it was closed (reason unknown, during hours of operation) and the last time about an hour before closing and they were sold out for the day. The woman who helped us was very nice. Unfortunately they had sold out of most of their foods this day too! Luckily we were able to try the chicken over white rice, samosas and fried donut type of dessert. Inexpensive and huge portions. The chicken was flavorful and the samosas were packed with heat! The "donut" was a heavier batter, a hint of sweetness and just the right size. It didn't give you that "I ate too much" feeling. The only reason this place isn't getting five stars is because chicken was the only food she had left. She said that steak, goat and lamb frequent the menu, but that it changes everyday. Tip - based on my three attempts, I suggest arriving for lunch or early dinner, like 4-5 p.m.

I say skip the make at home version, because this restaurant will make it for you for a very fair price, and with no fuss whatsoever. We ordered a range of stews along with jollof rice. I asked for everything to be mildly spiced (other than the designer stew, which is largely habanero peppers and so can not be mild!) Everything was well seasoned, freshly prepared, and filling. We ate outside with a friend and the warmth of the pepper stew helped keep us distracted from the cold. Our favorite thing was actually the meat pies. They are homemade with a sweet dough and a delicious meat and potato filling. They are also a bargain at $5 for two hand sized pies. They would make an amazing lunch on their own and were just as delicious at room temperature as they were fresh from the oven. I do have to warn you about ordering the chin chin dessert. It is delicious, and you will wish you had more once it's gone. Order it early in the weekend in case you need to run back for more by Sunday night, or you'll have to wait almost a week for the restaurant to reopen. Go get yourself some fufu!
