A true hidden gem of the Allentown food scene. Went here the other night and was blown away. My…read moreexperience with African food is pretty limited and I've been meaning to fix that. This was the perfect place to explore the cuisine from the continent. I had the pilau which consisted of rice, beef and veggies. The beef was so tender and the seasoning on the dish was perfect. I also had the chickpea samosas which were wonderful and the freshly made mango pineapple juice was delicious and super refreshing. The restaurant itself is so intimate and the African art all over the wall was fun to look at as we dined. Chef Tina is not only a brilliant cook but a warm and welcoming host too. They could tell it was our first time so they talked us through the menu and made spot-on recommendations. She even saved my meal by stopping me from dumping on her special hot sauce without trying it first. I tested and it was a bit too intense for me but if you love super spicy food then you will be in heaven. A great meal and worth the price I think. Just be sure to bring cash for tip or tell them to add it on before swiping your card. They definitely earn a big one here. Can't wait to go back!!

All dishes were fresh and delicious. As far as ambiance, lower your expectations and embrace the cultural experience. You will enter a hole in the wall that authentically reproduces a local joint in Kenya (minus the Tusker). Both fish dishes are recommended, wet and dry. Their chili is very hot and a must. The wings are excellent, I love the crunchy skin. The homemade juices are a must. You will leave feeling like you were with Kenyan friends that you didn't know you had. 10 stars for hospitality.

Authentic African restaurant with flavorful stews and traditional fufu. They have a limited menu…read morethat is made fresh daily and they are only open on the weekend. The place is small, clean and the staff are very friendly. I tried the beef stew with some fufu and papaya juice. All were great , the beef stew was flavorful but didn't deviate too far from regular beef stew I have had in other places, I wish it was more unique or had more spices , it was still good. The fufu was good but tends to stay hot longer because of how it's packed so be careful burning your mouth. I like to dip the fufu in the beef stew and eat both together . The papaya juice was light and refreshing, a unique drink option compared to typical sodas. Give this place a try if you haven't had traditional African food before. They also gave me a samosa on the house which was nice and a bit spicy , it tends to be oily but was flavorful. Hoping to come back and try other menu items, especially the goat stew. I was a bit surprised that the price for the meal was higher than expected , especially for the amount of food you get and the other options in the area but it's worth it given the authentic food you get.

First time it was closed (reason unknown, during hours of operation) and the last time about an hour before closing and they were sold out for the day. The woman who helped us was very nice. Unfortunately they had sold out of most of their foods this day too! Luckily we were able to try the chicken over white rice, samosas and fried donut type of dessert. Inexpensive and huge portions. The chicken was flavorful and the samosas were packed with heat! The "donut" was a heavier batter, a hint of sweetness and just the right size. It didn't give you that "I ate too much" feeling. The only reason this place isn't getting five stars is because chicken was the only food she had left. She said that steak, goat and lamb frequent the menu, but that it changes everyday. Tip - based on my three attempts, I suggest arriving for lunch or early dinner, like 4-5 p.m.

That would have been acceptable, except when I returned at the exact time given, I was told to wait an additional five minutes. What is the purpose of scheduling a pickup time if the order is not ready at that time? Customers' time should be respected. This is not an isolated incident. I consistently experience this issue with the same server. The attitude is dismissive and unprofessional. It often feels as though I am inconveniencing her by simply picking up food I have already paid for. The treatment toward women in particular is noticeably unpleasant and uncomfortable. If you arrive with a partner, the energy shifts in a way that feels intentional and inappropriate. Customer service is a choice. The repeated lack of professionalism, courtesy, and respect is unacceptable. Even when the food is decent, the experience overshadows it completely. I did not enjoy my meal because of how I was treated. I will not be returning and cannot recommend this establishment to anyone. Respecting customers' time and providing basic courtesy should not be optional.
