Terrible experience, for both service and food. We will not be back. The young guy host/server seemed annoyed when we arrived. He marched to the table, dropped our menus, and walked off while we were still way behind him. (I paid my way through college as a hostess in a restaurant and that type of attitude towards customers would NEVER have been tolerated.) We were never offered the famous rolls that come with meals (the main reason we went), so we had to ask for them twice. The people around us (three tables in the whole place) didn't get any either. My mashed potatoes and green beans were both cold, so they took them to the back and apparently microwaved them. No-one ever asked if we wanted more water so I had to take my husband's empty glass to where the employees were standing around visiting with each other to ask. My husband's chicken sandwich had a hole in the top bun and was incomplete, missing five of the toppings(!) - the cheese, bacon, onion, pickles, and the honey mustard! All it had was chicken, lettuce, and tomatoes. At that point we just scarfed our food and left. It costs way too much to eat out these days (we are on a long roadtrip so didn't have many options) but experiences like this make ya wanna just always pack your own sandwiches. I LOVED Bob Evans when I lived in Ohio in the 90's but boy have times changed. Or maybe it's just this one. read more

This specific Bob Evans in Marion good. They stay on top of your drinks and check on you often. The service here is fantastic. I would recommend anybody and Marion are just passing through this place out. They're very good and they're not expensive ambience is quiet give it a try!! read more

We've been stopping a Bob Evans for brunch , usually just biscuits and gravy, for several years. There was a downturn after COVID...they couldn't hire enough staff and that affected all aspects of the business. New wait staff was hired and some things started improving - unfortunately it wasn't the food. We noticed that the biscuits were getting smaller. Today the biscuits were lopsided, like they failed to rise completely and the gravy was luke warm and no spiciness to it at all. Was that really sausage or was it plant based? I think we're going to take a break from Bob's brunch. read more

It must be a South thing, well, I know it is - service was warm and impeccable. We sat right away, got our coffees right away and our food in record time. I had a slight issue with some mushrooms and the manager handled it (you guessed it) right away! We got: -Country fried steak with hashbrowns, biscuits and a side of pancakes - he loved it all -Veggie omelet with peppers, mushroom, American cheese and onion, side of potatoes and grits - everything was great. It's a shame that in 2024, we need to have a "Green Book". I would skip this place. Unfortunately, we did not take a picture of what we were served. Our eggs looked like they had been scrapped off the bottom of an old cast iron skillet (from maybe the day before) and hash browns were soaked in something (maybe grease AND water?!). Disgusting. You would not serve this to your pet. A different server (maybe the manager) came over and noticed our plates and our frustration and apologized telling us that we should not have been served that at all - and would talk to her chef. She bought actual 'food' to us and did remove one of the meals from the bill. The damage was done. Never again will we visit a Bob Evans - and never again will we stop in Marion, IL. MACARONI IS NOT COOKED!!!! I got a bunch of noodles that tasted absolutely horrific. The cheese tasted so artificial it was like if Barbie was a cheese. It was like eating moist rocks... how do you expect me to feed this to my siblings when it's not even edible for me. When I went to go get it, everyone was nice for the most part... Only one person had a bad attitude which made the whole experience of picking up my food in the restaurant unpleasant. I wanted to give this place the benefit of the doubt from last time I had the mash potatoes. If you want more about that look at my other review. This chain of restaurants is catered towards the geriatric population. When we ate here, we were probably the youngest people in the place. The restaurant reminds me of a Marie Callender's but it's a lot more dated. The rolls they are famous for totally sucked. Dry, not too appealing. I order their famous Chicken soup, which was really bland and not cooked very well. The pot pie was a little bit better. My favorite part of the meal was the Chocolate silk pie. Best I've tried so far in these parts. The service was fine, I just thought the tables could have been cleaned a little better. read more

Have ordered take home Thanksgiving dinner from this location for past 2 years. My sister ordered an 8 person family meal 1 week ago. The restaurant had lost the order when she went to pick it up. Manager and staff gave her a hard time. Gave her a turkey breast that she has to cook herself and charged her again, even though she had the paid receipt from when she ordered it. I wouldn't give them even 1 star, if I did not have to, to write this review. Will not be ordering from them again. read more

I've been coming to Bob Evans Restaurants around the country since 1974. many of them are high quality restaurants, perfect for comfort food and family dining. Some of them are less so. However the Marion Bob Evans is definitely in the first category. I came in here after a long day on the road, and in serious need of a Homestead breakfast and an overdose of the signature sausage gravy and biscuits. When I walked in at 3 p.m. on a Saturday, the staff were working hard to serve a 30 top table, and the manager told me that it would be a while before I could be served. However, a young man named Michael, who evidently majored in multitasking, managed to get my order in and out in amazing time, plying me with buckets of coffee until my order was delivered ( which was much sooner than I had been led to believe). Michael's level of service took me all the way back for the first time I walked into Bob Evans all those years ago. Thanks for delivering a top-shelf experience! Me an my husband went to bob Evan's for lunch. And our meals were great. Excellent service. The only complaint I have about the restaurant is it looked like they didn't try to clean the bathroom stalls they both smelled like raw sewage. We both wanted to go wash our hands before eating our meals and the smell of the womens bathroom just about knocked me down and my husband said the same thing about the men's bathroom. What a mess. When I arrived, I was seated promptly and the waitress was prompt. The booth was clean, and the sugar was stocked. The positives stop there. Food was greasy, salty, and bland all at the same time. Coffee was so burned it almost tasted like a cigarette. I wasn't asked if the food was good- the waitress simply plopped the check on the table and walked off. To make matters worse, the waitstaff were audibly berating the kitchen staff for being behind, and making something incorrectly. After a long morning on a motorcycle, my dad I stopped at bob Evans for breakfast. The food was good but the real reason for this review is for our great waiter Michael. He was extremely personable and went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. When we left, we thanked him for being a great waiter and he thanked us for the tip we left. Classic diner. Wisecracking waitresses, classic comfort food, breakfast all day. The restaurant and bathrooms were clean and well maintained. My grits (girl raised in the south) wife had never been to a Bob Evans so when one was right in front of us we stopped for dinner. We were the only patrons that still had jobs, the others all seem to have retired during the last century. We enjoyed our dinner, the portions were too large to finish. The waitress was extra helpful. All in all a pleasant stop at a chain restaurant that doesn't pretend to be anything more. They seem to accommodate medical implements well. read more

We waited an hour & a half for our food, our server only had 3 other tables when we came in. Now it's 7pm and the dinner rush has started. Everyone around us has gotten their food, and we can easily see that it's the same thing that we ordered. Turkey & dressing, and pot roast dinner should not have taken an hour & a half. Our waitress only checked on us 1 time after bringing our drinks & bread. We had to stop her to ask how much longer it would be since we were here far before the rush had began, she then began to tell us that our order would be out next. So we've waited another 30 minutes and still nothing. It is obvious that she is avoiding us as she keeps looking at us from a distance & hasn't checked on us again nor did she give us an update on our food. She then came to our table to tell us that it won't be much longer, and that they have a new cook in the kitchen and it is very hectic. Our food finally came to the table & my plate was missing the side of broccoli so she took it back. A few moments later she returned with my place, with food that wasn't even lukewarm. Our waitress came to our table & apologized with gift cards that had $5 for each of us that she said was from the manager, yet the manager never visited our table. This was not a good experience whatsoever ever. Bob Evan's is usually a great place to eat as I've been many times with my family. but this will make me rethink my decision before coming back. Both times I have been here have been terribly slow. There was nearly an hour between the time we ordered and time we got the food. Pancakes and eggs do NOT take that long to make. The manager asked us if we had any concerns at the end of the meal, not how the service was. That is a very telling question... The food we eventually received was wrong. I ordered breakfast. The sausage links were grey. The pancakes had the texture of a kitchen sponge. The hash browns were an oily glob of mucky white mush. The hostess seemed very unhappy, took a long time to seat us or even notice us. I think the general attitude of this place is just to put out crap as fast as they can and get rid of people. Sausage should be golden brown, and hot. Hash browns are supposed to be crisp and golden in color. If they don't come out that way, it's clear nobody cares about the product they are putting on the table. I would put this place about 5 notches down from MacDonald's quality. The food is gross. Stopped in for some breakfast and had to wait for 45 minutes to get our food because the staff could not get on the same page. My husband and I were just about to leave when the waitress finally brought our food, then when my husband questioned about his meal the waitress wanted to act like it was his mistake. So, to the owner, manager and whoever else that is running the Bob Evans in Marion, Illinois, you can bet your career that my family will never step foot into your establishment ever again. We've visited this location several times, and while the food is usually a 3, the service is awful. Upon entering the restaurant, you're lucky if anyone thinks to speak to you or acknowledge your arrival. Just today, we watched a manager and two employees man cash registers not 5 feet from where we stood. When they finished with their customers, they each walked away, as though we were invisible. Several minutes passed before a very curt young lady escorted us to a table. The wait staff is rarely polite, rarely remembers to refill drinks, and rarely remembers to request your entire order from the kitchen the first time. My husband and I had dinner here tonight. After waiting over 5 minutes for anyone to greet us the manager got our drink order (it wasn't real busy) Our server was Kyle I believe, and he was terrible. He finally took our order and proceeds to take care of his other tables. Over 15 minutes go by, my husband without a drink for over 10 minutes and he says "oh I guess you guys want some rolls or somethin?" and then walked off. Just incredibly unprofessional. Well 5 minutes goes by still no rolls, he brings our food then brings rolls afterwards. That wasn't even the worst part. My husband's chicken wasn't cooked all the way. The manager finally comes to check on us 10 minutes later and took the food back but when the server finally came to check he clearly had no idea what was going on nor did he even care. This server was a joke. Our dining experience was terrible but the food was decent. Every single time my husband and I have been here the service is awful. We won't return. I ust to work at the bob evans in marion il. I was a dishwasher and a back up cook. I've seen a lot of disgusting things. The tea containers have black mold in the spouts they re- heat and re-reat foods such as the dressing and potatoes the grey and brown gravy due to save on there food cost. The management team is a crock there I've seen managers come out of the bathroom and make foods for the customers . There team work there is terrible so that's is why there so slow. There liars and thefs NEVER EVER!!!! tip a waiter or waitress on your credit card there. I got fired from there because my wife was in a very bad accident I called in to the manager and he excused me but they still counted it as a no call no show. I've eaten here 5 or 6 times, only for breakfast. Their food is very good, always cooked exactly as requested. It has always been served pretty quickly, even when they were very busy. I've never had the same server twice and they've all been great. I'm a coffee drinker and they have never failed to keep my cup full. They are quick to pick up your empty plates. When they drop of the check, they always tell me to enjoy my coffee and or newspaper and to take my time. My favorite is the biscuits and gravy. read more
