Her adult daughter is a chef there and works the line making sure all the food is perfect. You won't go hungry. The food is priced reasonably and the atmosphere is awesome. Seasoning bistro is just so beautiful. The moment you walk in, it feels like you're stepping into the city. I was greeted by a friendly hostess. Server was super sweet and did a great job. I ordered fried mushrooms to start with which were delicious and came out fairly quickly. I had their special for Friday night which was barramundi fish over couscous. It was tasty. For dessert I had the s'mores. I can't even describe how delicious this dessert was. I did not expect the toasted marshmallow on top to have ice cream inside. Sadly, I was so disappointed in this meal that I can barely give it three stars. We had heard mixed reviews since they opened at the new location in Marion, so we decided to give them some time to work out the kinks. I like to make my own judgments and didn't want bad experiences of others to sway me. Since they have been open a while now, we decided to finally give them a try. We called ahead and I was told by the girl who answered the phone that they didn't take reservations for the patio, and that they also wouldn't be offering service on the patio that evening. If we wanted to sit on the patio, we would need to order at the bar and take our food outside. We chose to make an inside reservation instead. Once we arrived and were seated, I watched multiple parties seated on the patio, and they were receiving full service. Later that evening, I noticed a post on their Facebook page that they were offering full service on the patio that evening starting at 4pm. It was posted hours before I had called to enquire. It would have been nice to have the person answering the phone for reservations to have the correct information to share. Not a huge deal, but was still frustrating given the beautiful weather that evening. On to the meal. We started with bread. It was served with cinnamon butter and garlic and herb butter. It was served warm and it was very good. Next up was the bacon spinach side salad. It comes with a warm bacon vinaigrette dressing which is also very good. The salad and bread were the best part of the meal and the only reason I'm leaving three stars. For the main entrees: I had the filet with baked potato and brussel sprouts. My husband had the ribeye with baked potato and brussel sprouts. Both steaks were ordered medium. My filet was well done. No pink at all. I used A1 to help add some flavor, but typically prefer no steak sauce when a filet is seasoned and cooked correctly. The ribeye was cooked to the correct specifications, but according to my husband it lacked any flavor or seasoning. It was very bland as well. The brussel sprouts are described as bacon roasted, but they were not very good at all and lacked any bacon flavor, we both declined to eat them. The baked potatoes were not cooked all of the way and were kind of hard, making it difficult to mix in butter or sour cream. For a $175 meal (after tip), this was not at all what we expected. What a fantastic dining experience! Our server, Megan, deserves an A+! She was friendly, knowledgeable, and even shared the history of the restaurant with us. The filet was hands down one of the best I've ever eaten, and the Halloween themed cocktails were as creative as they were delicious. The restaurant itself is beautiful, overlooking Marion's gorgeous downtown square. It's the perfect spot for a celebration or a night out on the town. We have enjoyed the Seasoning Bistro for several years at their original location in Benton, IL. The new location in Marion is very nice and can handle many more patrons. Looks great. The food has always been great and we had excellent wait staff. I had the teriyaki salmon this time and it was great. Great cocktail list and wine list as well. Very pleasant dining experience. The hostess was pleasant and friendly and showed our party to a table. I immediately noticed how clean the dining room was. Our waitress was top notch, knowledgeable about the menu and friendly but didn't "hover". The food was delicious - salad and burger and fried mushrooms, crab cakes and the soup. We traveled to IL to meet friends at an airbnb on the lake in Creal Springs, and no one wanted to cook that night. So, decided to head to the Seasoning Bistro for dinner. We couldn't believe how busy the restaurant was on a Thursday night! Friends enjoyed burgers, street (sweet potato) tacos, and cheese curds. I wanted something light and ordered the small Bistro salad. Wish I would have ordered the entree size--it was so refreshing and delicious! If we're ever in Marion again, we'll definitely go back to the Seasoning Bistro. read more

Had dinner tonight with my husband and we had the Cajun chicken pasta and the shrimp scampi. It was wonderful!!!! Our waiter (Eric P) was amazing, made sure we had everything we needed and drinks filled & he was so nice & kind. Wine was great! Loved the atmosphere.
