Oh boy, where to start. I guess I'll begin with the positive things about this place; the bartenders/servers (they're the same people) are friendly...and that's pretty much it. There are QR codes on the bar for the beer menu. It isn't accurate, they're out of several. I was told by a staff member (again, it's hard to tell who fills what role so I'll just call them staff members from here on) that they are "locked out" of that account so I should check the board behind the bar. The board lists the flavor and usually the type of beer. It does not list the manufacturer or really any other details. At this point I ordered a beer and the chicken nachos. I received the beer promptly. I finished that one, then another. Still no nachos. After an hour+ and 3 beers, I cashed out and left. At least they never tried to charge me for the nachos. I witnessed numerous dishes returned to the kitchen. There were 2, sometimes 3 staff members for the entire bar and dining room. All were friendly but seemed inexperienced. I witnessed at least 2 on their phones at some point. Last but not least, the atmosphere. The place could be really amazing. When I was there, the bar was sticky. 3 of the lights above the bar were burned out and the fixtures, obviously intended for old looking filament bulbs had bright LEDs installed giving the ambiance of a hospital waiting room. The recessed can style lighting in the rest of the establishment wasn't much better. The stools at the bar are seriously worn. It's almost worth visiting for the spectacle...almost. Update: they did charge me for the nachos. I misread the receipt that night. read more

Service was extremely slow it took almost an hour just to order a couple of burgers and finally receive them, however the beer was decent while we waited. The staff doesn't seem to care too much about providing information or interaction and instead I suppose we're all just a transaction. Not my favorite experience at a craft House brewery with food. The staff here simply ignore your presence and if you're lucky enough to get an order in you have to wait an unbelievable amount of time to get it. Great drinks, good service, but food is always slow to come out. We are used to it and know when we visit that we will enjoy a couple of drinks before the food arrives. Multiple TVs in the bar area, or you can sit outside and enjoy fresh air and a nice patio. As long as you aren't in a hurry, the food is usually worth the wait! This particular day we had lunch, but weekend brunch is a fav as well! Bloody Mary & Mimosa specials on the weekends... Walked in to a "seat yourself" sign. Sat down at a table in the bar area and sat there for 10 minutes before a server came to cash us out. Lol! Said she'd be back to take our order and we walked out after another 15 minutes of multiple severs bypassing us and our original server gabbing with her friends at another table. Not good. Sorry, not sorry. We started with the cauliflower buffalo wings and those were good. I had the steak quesadilla and it was not good. Steak had no seasoning. The Cajun fries were also not very good. My friend had the Nashville hot chicken and it was not a typical Nashville hot sauce. We visited the 618 Taphouse recently to watch a football game. It was close to our hotel and it offered us another option besides the usual chain restaurants that surround hotels off of interstate exits. The wife and I bellied-up at the bar, in front of a television, and took at look at the 3 page beer menu. They had a very nice selection of local, micro-brewed beers, plus a full bar, so our visit started strong. The place was super-clean, and despite other reviews on Yelp!, they had plenty of staff on hand to make sure we had everything we needed. We weren't super hungry so we asked our bartender for a recommendation. She suggested the loaded steak nachos. Pretty safe bet for a sports bar, so why not?!? They weren't bad, however they also weren't very good?!?! It was a strange dish, to say the least. They featured their signature beer cheese sauce, which was good. Not very Latin inspired, but good. It was the only thing on the plate that was warm, which was strange?!? They were supposed to come with steak, pico de gallo, corn salsa, lettuce, beer cheese, salsa and house made southwest ranch. Ours didn't end up having the pico or the corn salsa. Also, the chunks of lettuce and steak were huge!! They didn't really fit on the tortilla chip?!? The steak was tender, but almost tasted as if it was boiled, and had NO seasoning on it whatsoever?!? Why not just season the meat a bit and chop it up so you could eat it - bite size?!? Again, it didn't taste bad, but it wasn't really good either. There was an overall lack of "Mexican", or Latino flavors, which just kind of confused the wife and I. Now my daughter ended up joining us a little later in the evening and she ordered their Cajun fried pickles and their Buffalo fried cauliflower - which came with crumbled blue cheese and the southwest ranch dressing. Both of her apps were good. Exactly what you would expect from a place like this. I like good long bars at beer spots but when I walked in it had to be 55 degrees in there. Grabbed a beer n went to the patio. Holy smoke batman. There were so many folk smoking my eyes immediately started watering. Small patio. No circulation. What to do? Freeze or choke on smoke. I kept going back n forth. So I end up ordering my food to go because I can't stand this. I ordered a buffalo chicken pizza and it was okay. Their whole menu is bar food but overpriced. The single IPA I got was $8 and most of their food is $10 regardless if it's an app or entree. This beer was made right there in nearby Chicago. $8 is high. The bartenders were nice and friendly to me so I don't have any complaints on that but they got to get the temperature controlled and get some more fans out on that patio. I ordered the Blueberry Blonde from Big Muddy Brewing (a local craft beer from IL), and honestly I was quite skeptical of the fruity beer. But I was quite pleased by it! the Blueberry Blonde had a nice malty after taste with a slight hint of blueberry. I can see why it's very popular. The food was average as my burger tasted like a regular burger. Couldn't really taste the horseradish mayo. The sweet potato waffle fries are battered in some kind of corn meal, which didn't really work together. Every bite I took of the waffle fry, I was chewing something gritty. I'd recommend 618 for beers/drinks, and probably pass on the food. read more

Went here while visiting a friend who recently moved into the area. I was pleased about their beer selection on tap for starters. It was cold this day so we opted to sit inside to keep warm instead of hang out on the walled off patio. We were seated and drink orders taken. Sad they had no real sours on tap, but I guess that isn't an IL thing. My friend and I ordered fried pickles for apps and then more drinks. We finally decided on what to eat and I got a Ruben and she ordered a hot brown. Now being from KY and knowing what a hot brown is....I didn't believe this was a hot brown. Oh well. I will have to get my friend to have one when she visits me. The waitress wasn't very friendly or busy for that matter, but we had a good time none the less. This place is so slow sloths look like speed-skaters!! There is no hostess so sit wherever you dare. We sat at a table that had just been vacant. After 15 minutes we cleaned up the table ourselves and put the dirty dishes on the bar. We watched one of the servers have a melt down because of the dishes at the bar (she watched us do it). After another 10 minutes I asked a server if she could see us...I wanted to make sure I hadn't left my invisibility cloak on by mistake... and she said oh no, let me get some menus. Just finished eating here. Wait staff was generally unfriendly. Food was standard bar food and met expectations. Upon receiving the tab we felt ripped off. A single beer (we were drinking Bud Light and Busch Light) cost $3.42/ea. After the first round we decided to switch to a bucket of beers. Each bucket came with 5 beers and we had two buckets. Upon receiving the bill we were shocked to find that the bucket of 5 beers cost us $20 ($4/beer). I've never once been to an establishment where buying a bucket costs more than individual beers. When we asked the waitress she claimed it's because tax brings the individual cost to $3.74/beer (Still cheaper than a bucket). She then states "She just rings them up she doesn't set the price. My wife and I both ordered 618 hamburgers the sweet potato fries were the best part of the meal. We both ordered medium rare hamburgers and both came out well done and somewhat dried out. The cheese on the burger was thick but not heated or melted at all. The potato buns had a chewy crust that was difficult to bite through. Covid issues: All of the tables were full and not all of the tables were 6' apart. Servers were wearing masks but most of them had them around their chins not over their mouth and nose. This was our first time coming to 618 Taphouse. We called ahead to make sure they had outdoor seating. Sandy said they had plenty of room. I asked if I could order ahead. She said they do not ordinarily do so, but since they were not too busy, they would take our order. When we arrived, Sandy brought out or order the moment we sat down. The food was terrific, Asian shrimp salad and chicken Caesar salad. We got our pick of outdoor seating, and they turned on the fire pit for us. We will definitely be back! Had lunch. It was ok. Ordered the Nashville hot Chicken sandwich and was surprised it was a chicken thigh and not a breast. I wasn't disappointed but kinda surprised since it was not noted in the menu. It made for a much smaller piece of chicken than I've had on similar sandwiches. Overall flavor was good just felt kinda mislead. Had the house chips for a side and was disappointed in them.
