As a bar to watch a game, or hang out after one, Bob Dobbs's is 3-star. They have friendly, efficient staff, a small but good selection of beer on tap, and enough big-screen TVs to be able to watch from anywhere inside. Great bar for all ages, owner sometimes will either offer you free jaeger bombs, or just simply call you a pansy and take one right in your face. Great burgers as well. I love Bob Dobbs. It's anything but fancy but the service is excellent, the beer is cold, and the greasy bar food is delicious. It's the perfect place for my softball team to hang out after a game. You'll find all kinds of people there, which is really great. I never feel out of place. read more

Convenient midtown bar close to the university. 4-5 stars for location and 1 star for service. I've been coming here for 18 years, though less often lately. What amazes me is how consistently poor the service is year after year, which seems to be a point of pride for this place. Slow to greet you, slow to refill, sloppy and careless delivery. A sleazy bar in a college town should earn at least six stars. Not here, however, they can't even be good at being bad. So this is a joke because there can be no other explanation - on a recent week day evening this writer tried to order two pints of beer and was told that there were no more clean glasses. The suggestion to wash then to the incompetent begin the bar was greeted with amazed indifference. As if it was unreasonable to ask for clean glasses and how about a plastic glass instead he offered? Gone downhill in the last few months. Web site is not only inaccurate, but is false advertising. I E... they advertise prime rib on Thursdays....it is generally a sandwich "special". they don't have prime rib Ever. Steak night ( Tuesdays) is advertised as $11.95...get there and it's $13.95.. Last night with two beers (specials which are advertised incorrectly) and two steaks (both cooked incorrectly by an 18 yr old apprentice without supervision) was $48.oo w/ tax and tip. Bob Dobbs is one of the best neighborhood bars and grills in Tucson. It is a true staple in the heart of Tucson. I come here every Saturday night and honestly feel like family whenever I walk in. I've dealt with many obnoxious bartenders in the past and I can honestly say that this bar, by far has the best bartenders in town. Be sure to ask for Travis or Ryan if you want the best service. They are the most polite, stand-up employees and they'll make sure that your drinks are made correctly every time. I've never had less than superb service. If you don't mind scribbling on the walls and peanut shells on the floor then this is your place. If the Cats are playing you can watch them here. They don't have the largest beer selection or the greatest menu in town but what they have is good and it's affordable. This is a bar where you often see families with kids in the middle of the day on the weekend. They even have a children's menu. If you go often enough the bar tender and waitresses will learn your name and what you like to drink. Order a glass of whiskey on the rocks to earn instant respect. read more

Bob Dobbs will always be my favorite place in Tucson. The wings, the burgers and the memories of watching every UofA sport success since I can remember. It was the place to go when the Wildcats were playing and you always knew there would be a house full of Wildcats cheering louder than everyone at the stadium. They have the best wings ever! They are smokey, not too much sauce and their ranch is literally finger licking good. The Bob's Burger is my favorite and my husbands is the Porcupine. It's place that no matter if it is your first or 500th visit someone will always greet you with a smile. I will never forget coming here right after a wedding that served terrible food wearing my wedding garb and having a patron jokingly say sorry, its reservations only. The barkeep laughed and goes, the usual? Oh! Before I forget, the chili. The Chili! How could I forget, when its cold and rainy or on the rare occasion it snows, I order a giant bowl of chili - which is extra hot (temperature, not spicy), carefully transport it home and devour it in front of my fireplace. read more

I'd give zero stars if I could. My friend and I just walked out after being ignored for a full ten minutes at the bar. Waitress and bartender both saw us, looked at us and continued to talk to the young men at the bar a few feet away from where we were standing at the bar. We had money out and waved to them twice and continued to be ignored. We are bummed because it seemed like a great place and we had cash to $pend!!!! Unfortunately, we will not go back and will not be recommending this place to anyone. It was clear that we were the wrong gender and not a regular to receive attention. Disappointing. Had dinner with a couple of friends tonight at Bob Dobbs. As always the burgers were cooked as ordered! One medium-rare, 1 medium and 1 well done. How often does that happen at most burger places? Great pale ale pitcher for $7.00 as well. I'm going to miss my neighborhood bar! Moving to CA. My friends will be back and they will bring their friends. I've been in there a couple times now in the experience that I've had him we're not too great. Every time I walk in the waitresses always talking to somebody else, they never greet me. Seems super unfriendly. I ordered food, the food was phenomenal. I'm just confused how the service can suck so bad but yet the food be so good. read more

Servers were friendly with the "locals" and served them first. I sat staring at them for about five minutes and they even looked at me and past me up. When my cohorts arrived we sat outside and then they served us. The waitress with the big tits in your face and ring on her finger was all flirty to get a better tip; we all saw right through that. First visit, probably my last. No one checked on our table for an extensive period of time. Then when I approached the bar the process for payment and getting a drink lasted an eternity. BTW the regulation head on a Guinness is 1/2 inch, mine consistently had one full inch. There was a U of A game on TV but it was no where close to full. Went in around 5-6pm, first time going. I was stuck doing something next door, and was starving. I walked in and waited around for a minute or two, and didn't notice any hostess stand or hostess so I sat at an empty seat. It wasn't busy, some people at the bar, one table with like 5 people already eating, and one other table with 2 people already eating. ANYWAY, I sat around for about 15 minutes(I checked my phone)and not a single person came to my table. No hello, no "have you been helped?", no menu.. 2 waiters walked by me to go back and check on the people already eating. Another waiter walked around for awhile. It was such a joke. I wasn't trying to move around too much due to an ankle injury but after waiting for 15 minutes I left because I was starving. I've been to soooo many different restaurants, cafes, bars, food trucks etc in Tucson, Phoenix, California, Philly, Seattle, and this was my worst experience ever. I made a Yelp account just to write this review. Staff 0/5, Service 0/5, Atmosphere 0/5, Food...I'll never know haha. Local neighborhood bar vibe with friendly staff and good food and drink. This is a nice local pub that your teens can go eat with you and feel comfortable. Prices are reasonable, location is good, parking is ample in the area. Worth a visit! read more
