A bit disappointing. First time there, made reservations, arrived and seated quickly. Service was good in the beginning, bread was fresh and we ordered an appetizer (firecracker shrimp) which was delicious. We ordered dinner and things changed. Our server adopted a large table of 7 or 8 and we hardly saw her after that. With our drink glasses empty, our dinner arrived and I asked the young man that brought our food to refill our drinks and that never happened. A few minutes later a waiter from tables behind us asked if he could refill our drinks to which he did. Then there were the entree's. Mine was just ok, I shouldn't need to cut my fish with a knife, it was overcooked. My wife's lemon pepper Mahi mahi was very void of flavor. She was in need of some sauce or something just to give it flavor. The. Spinach had no seasoning at all, nothing. This place isn't cheap and I am afraid I expected more considering we drove 25 miles to get there and we were looking forward to a good dinner. Very underwhelmed. San Francisco clam chowder with sourdough bread, it was delicious, the best around, just what clam chowder should be. Even bought a quart to take home. The cod fish and chips was also very fresh and delicious, will definitely go again. The sweet salmon also delicious. Only reason didnt give it a 5 star is because it's super expensive for a no tablecloth high end restaurant. We paid $120 for soup, fish and chips and and the salmon dish, also took a quart home. For the first time visit..... 10 outta 10..... the HOSTEST was very attentive for the people that had our table was takin they precious's time to leave but she consistently checked on us and side eyed them lol....jk....the ambiance was very upscale and music was perfect... now let's get into the real stuff.... No the entree's.... Seafood Paella it is SHAREABLE... so packed of flavor lil spice and an abundance of seafood...rice cooked to perfection... The cedar plank salmon which is what I had was flaky not a second overcooked the glaze paired very well... this was the first time I had scallop potatoes and I will say I WILL have them again... the asparagus was eh but my aunt had the green beans and she said it was very good.. Beer Batter Alaskan Cod my sister had... she said it was ok... it was her first time for fish and chips she liked the fish itself just not the batter. Last is the Gemelli Pasta with shrimp and scallops.. they made SURE that sauce to pasta ratio was correct cause no one likes dried pasta. The scallops were buttery and the pasta was cooked perfectly... Lastly dessert.... Both bread pudding AND crème brule were a 10 outta 10 for the table... I could not partake for I was stuffed lol... We've dined at BWG many times but our most recent visit was disappointing to say the least. I ordered fish and chips and what arrived was a plate with what amounted to 3 fish sticks. The portion size was much smaller than in the past. Shrinkflation or just my bad luck? My wife's shrimp cocktail wad equally anemic with rubbery shrimp and her cup of clam chowder was ok but at $11.50 it should have been better. To be honest, the sourdough bread was the best thing on the table. The The service was good. No complaints there. BWG occupies an aesthetically pleasing space and hopefully our experience was not the rule going forward but we will hesitate returning any time soon. This is a great all-round local bar/restaurant. The bartenders Mark and Cliff are super friendly and the patrons are typically locals and friendly as well. The drinks are expertly mixed and the food is great. I've had many of the seafood dishes and they're fresh and tasty. I particularly like this place because I dine alone often and this bar is bright and cheery. Opposed to some nearby that are dark and dreary. Give this place a try. I went to celebrate a birthday and I had a coupon, which was really generous of them, but the food was so bad, it wasn't even worth it despite the discount. They start you with bread, which was tasty. I had the clam chowder, which was bland and sad. I also got the octopus on the waiter's recommendation, and it was inedible. I've had octopus many times, so it wasn't that I don't like octopus. This was chewy like rubber and tasted super fishy.... I actually couldn't eat it. The husband had fish and chips, which he said were ok. They were super nice and brought out a birthday dessert, which is much appreciated, but after this meal, I had to (try to) unsubscribe to their email list because I can't imagine going back again. (Also, their email list wouldn't let me unsubscribe, I tried several times and yet I still get their emails). I know this is just my one experience, so hopefully you have a better one! read more

I waited several months to evaluate my feelings before I wrote this review. I had lunch at Bluewater Grill almost weekly, and had always had very good experiences. So good, in fact that the last time, I simply gave the waitress my credit card when she handed me the bill. I signed and as I left, looked at the bill. The item I ordered which was a Tuscan Tuna Salad was priced $7.00 more on the bill than was on the menu. It was $17.00 on the menu and $22.00 on the bill. I went back and asked the waitress. She said that the price on the menu was wrong, and she charged me the correct price. I stated I ordered the menu item as priced on the menu, and that she did not inform me of the price difference. She said "no" the menu had the wrong price on it and the higher price was what the restaurant was charging me. That means I was charged 30% more than the menu price! An honorable or decent restaurant would have refunded the difference as it was their mistake. But, the waitress refused. I have not been back. AFTER I posted this review, the GM of Bluewater Grill contacted me and profusely apologized not only for the error, but the way it was handled. His explanation was sincere and his apology was immediate - and he offered to make it right. Good job Jeff. Because of your response, I will come back. read more

Had a great time with friends. Very loud atmosphere was nice because we are loud and sometimes feel the need to tone it down but not here. Drinks were good. My wife ordered a cucumber mint mojito however the bartender previously made a drink that muddles a serrano chile and it caused my wife's drink to be very spicy and unfortunately she can't do spicy. They remade it but that's careless and shouldn't happen. Crab cakes were delicious but very small portion. Same with my ahi tuna salad. Flavorful but very small portion. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their food and portion was better except my wife she got the seafood pesto and the scallops were way over cooked. Nothing to egregious to stop us from coming back but not up to par for what we paid but fish is very fresh and delicious. read more

My husband had tuna tartare. It was good but he has had better at Venues. Our New Orleans bread pudding was close to excellent . First time at Bluewater Grill. We arrived at 6:00 for a 6:30 reservation on a Friday night and were told it would likely be 6:30. There were about 20 people waiting for a table. We were seated at 6:20, so a good start there. The decor inside was very cool. Several pieces of glossy, nautical artwork, several 'trophy' fish and cloth sails here and there. Nice ambiance. Our server, Edward, did a good job of greeting us, serving our needs and keeping our glasses full. The menu was a reflection of the seafood restaurant that it was designed to be. They had over a dozen appetizers, from oysters to fried calamari to salads, several 'daily'' fish options and numerous other fish and shellfish dishes, along with a couple of red meat options. My wife ordered the French bouillabaisse, which had mussels, shrimp, scallops, clams and fish, all in a savory and hearty saffron seafood broth. It was accompanied by a rouille (toast with red pepper smear). She also got a side of sautéed spinach. I got the sautéed sand dabs, scalloped potatoes and sautéed spinach. Our drinks arrived in less than five minutes, along with a decadent sourdough loaf. Both dinners came 12 mins later and were exactly as we expected. I can't speak much for the bouillabaisse but my sand dabs, which I hadn't had in years, were succulent, with a perfect lemon caper beurre blanc. The scalloped potatoes had a wonderful Parmesan crust and creamy sauce. In all, our meal, including drinks, was $81.18 plus tip. I would've paid much more for that excellent meal. read more

My first time here for lunch. I'm a seafood fan. I especially do like sushi but today I decided to try the special walnut crusted hell of it with scallop potatoes and grilled asparagus and I couldn't have made a better choice. Our server was absolutely phenomenal and on top of things always wanted to make sure everything was great. Between the three of us one had a chicken Caesar salad, which she said was quite good. The other had an avocado crab salad, which was also extremely good. I opted for the walnut crusted hell of it. The halibut was buttery and moist with a crispy, walnut crust and micro greens. The grilled asparagus was spot on and the scallop potatoes had just the right amount of crunch And flavor. There was a lemon caper sauce for drizzling over the fish and asparagus. That was also very good. Had absolutely no room for desserts but sure wish I did. Server did tell us about their happy hour specials in the sushi bar, which would prompt me to possibly go back at some point It wasn't super busy on this afternoon, but it was quiet and you could actually hear and have a decent conversation with your table mates. read more

Great place for group gathering. We had reservations for eight people to celebrate my mini me graduating from college. Our seating was immediately available once we checked in and our server was a great guy. He was so nice and attentive and gave great recommendations throughout our time there. The cocktails are great and I got the Napa gin & tonic and it was very refreshing and light. Mini me ordered the jalapeño artichoke dip for the table. We all agreed it was delicious with the chips it came with as well as the warm bread served to our table with butter. I didn't capture everyone's orders but here are some of what was ordered that I got to taste and liked everything. Barramundi, Bluewater roll, Fisherman's platter, Scallops and Macadamia crusted mahi mahi. The scallops were so good we ordered it twice for the table. This review is long overdue. We don't live close to here but love coming here. And even bonus that the new location is even better and JUST off the highway. We found them through Arizona Restaurant Week and since then have always loved them. The seafood is always fresh, the staff so friendly and attentive and I absolutely LOVE the variety of food that they have to choose from. WHAT WE LOVE: Oysters, Clam Chowder, Seared Scallops with/Roasted Jalapeno Aioli, Wedge Salad with Bacon, Bluewater Roll, Senorita Roll, Gemelli Pasta with Shrimp & Scallops CLAM CHOWDER: Their Clam Chowder is one of the best I've had locally in Arizona. So creamy and thick with a good amount of clams SEARED SCALLOPS: If you have been following my reviews, I am a sucker for scallops because they are SOOO difficult to cook perfectly. These are SOO delicious and the jalapeno aioli just puts them over the top. They are not chewy and perfectly cooked. RAINBOW TROUT AMANDINE: My husband ordered this the last time we were there and although the flavor was good, there were an AWFUL lot of bones that he had to pick through for his dinner. This week the Bluewater Grill had a special evening with a half order of each Cioppino and Bouillabaisse with two glasses red wine. First let me say the service was great and service fast. My favorite - hands down, was the Bouillabaisse. OMG!! - it was so incredible in how the flavors came together - not over the top but such wonderful warm mixture of spice and herbs and seafood and broth. I dipped my bread to make sure I scrapped every drop from the bowl. The red pepper toast served on the side was incredibly good as well. The Cioppiino - in my estimation - left a little to be desired ... it just didn't grab me and make me say it was incredible. It was ok, but had I never had Cioppino before, I would probably never order again based on this. It wasn't bad, but just lacked a kick to make me love it. Both were loaded with generous amounts of seafood. Only complaint - both bowls were brought out at the same time - and with two of the three diners having the special, the table was quite crowded and the soup that sat on the side cooled quite a bit before we were ready to eat it. I would have preferred they come out one at a time. The Chianti served was very good. Overall - a great evening with great food. read more
