Blue Moon Pools did exactly what they said they would do, when they said they would do it, for the price they quoted. How rare is that these days? The employees were professional and courteous. Each team (demolition, tile, plaster) had a lead that introduced himself before the work started and explained the process for his team. The office staff was also fabulous whenever I called. They even put up with my annoying little pug that barks at everyone :) If I could give them more than 5 stars I would. At our first meeting with John (who bids the jobs) I told him that I didn't want any surprises. I wanted to know up front how much completely redoing our pool was going to cost. He knew our pool was built in 1961 so the plumbing and electrical was old and they would have to reroute everything, but he didn't mention it. He knew the light was leaking and they would have to replace the housing, wiring and grounding but it wasn't included in our bid. It wasn't until contracts were signed and demolition had begun that he brought up those topics. Of course, every single thing was an ad on! We didn't realize that plumbing & electrical wasn't part of the original bid. Obviously you need those things to run a pool... Watch out! The price they quote you is no where near what it's going to actually cost! In the end, our pool turned out beautiful but I thought these guys were unprofessional. read more

Through each phase, the office and field workers communicated effectively as to the next steps. Finish upgrade information was provided, tile choices and costs were clearly explained. The execution of the work was flawless. The tile setters did a spectacular job of fit and finish and the plaster crew provided an excellent polished pebble finish. The price had gone up about 21%, but what service hasn't? They started the demo within 2weeks of signing the contact. The staff kept us informed daily as to when the crew would arrive. All crews from demo to tile, plaster & set-up arrived on time and cleaned up the job site daily. Each crew was professional and worked throughout the day. Payment was easy. We had BlueMoon re-plaster & tile our pool at the tail end of 2019. Before that the plaster was chipped and deteriorating. It originally had an old volcanic rock for tile that used to get cobwebs and nasty spiders in it. This was part of a larger backyard remodel, but we needed a pool company to resurface the pool, replace the side tile, edging around the pool, and an autofiller. When Richard originally came out, he discussed all the options with us and helped us understand the process. I appreciated the list of references and sample books he gave us. They were considerably more professional and cheaper that all other companies we contacted. BlueMoon coordinated well with the other contractors we had on the site and kept to their calendar dates and appointment times. The only issue I had was the electrician had difficulties with the wiring setup and I had to call them out several times to fix it. I don't really blame him though as our other contractors were wiring the landscape lighting and several other things into the same box so it probably complicated things. In any case they were happy to come out and work on the issue until it was fixed. I'm sure they probably spend more time on the electrical that was originally planned but I'm grateful they got everything working really well. We really love the tile work they did, and the overall end product was better than expected. The view from the inside of the pool is just as beautiful from above the deck. Blue Moon remodeled our pool in 2009 and did an amazing job. They were professional, on time and budget, and their workmanship excellent. They have helped us in the interim and just had them over after 12 years to acid wash and polish the pool. In one day they bought our pool back to the original luster after accumulated calcium that dulled the surface slightly. The finish we chose with them has held up extremely well. We wholeheartedly recommend their company. Richard was our salesperson and Lupe, the owner ,dropped by to make sure we were satisfied. This company did our pool renovation and it's been nothing but half ass work , work undone. They had the workers collect the checks from us. Never heard anything from the project manager Rick. He never contacted us or came to check the work done. We had to set up an appointment for him to come and go over the work done and hear our concerns. He blew a lot of smoke up our butt about why we still have 10 hollow copings out of 18 that were to be refitted. The tile job sucks. Long story short this company just wants your money they don't care about what you want if you are happy with their work. The are by far the worse business I ever had to deal with. But know this I will not just let them take my money and not do the job they promised. They will make it right to us................... read more

I received completely unprofessional harassing emails from Blue Moon Pools' salesperson Richard Patchett late at night. He strangely sent me a bid to do half the job. Apparently they are incapable of installing quartzite stone coping and glass tile. After I responded that I obviously wasn't going to hire them to do half the job, I received an extremely rude email from Mr. Patchett stating, "Thank you, great news ". Apparently, he was pleased that his company was not getting a $50,000 job.Then at 9:45 pm I received a bizarre email stating, "We know what your [sic] up to". I have no idea what that even is supposed to mean. I was just trying to find the best company to do my extensive pool remodel. Fortunately, I received other bids from professional companies that are capable of doing the job. And they didn't harass me. I definitely would not recommend even getting a bid from Blue Moon Pools! read more

I had discovered some rust stains at the bottom of my pool and called 8 different pool companies back in June. Of the 8 companies I researched only two were responsive (had a person that answered the phone and could do the job before November). BlueMoon sent out an estimator named Richard who was on-time (surprisingly as most contractors I have dealt with in the past were ALWAYS late), professional (came prepared with booklets/forms), and personable. I had another pool company come to bid as well and the estimator ran out of booklets for 2021 and did not provide close to the same amount of information as Richard. The difference between the two companies although they were comparable in price was that Richard did not try to oversell on services I didn't ask for but instead pointed out aspects of repair and provided me with options. The other pool estimator was actually more personable and more charismatic but I recognized and valued experience that was more evident with Richard. After signing the contract in July work started soon thereafter and for the most part the contractors for chipping, tiling, and pool maintenance were timely and professional. The receptionist for BlueMoon were always pleasant as well. I specifically appreciate and want to thank Alberto. Alberto (chino) spent the time to explain and show me the proper pool maintenance. It was a thorough school lesson. The reason I didn't give BlueMoon five stars was the scheduling was a bit last minute. It was my preference to be home to allow the contractors to enter my yard and thus I asked for some lead time (a day) so that I can plan my work schedule. I highly recommend this company. They came out to look at our pool when they were asked to provide a bid to plaster the pool by a different pool company that we'd hired to build it. We met Lupe, the owner of Blue Moon Pools when he was at our place preparing an estimate to plaster the pool for the other pool builder. That was on the Wednesday just before Father's Day. We expressed our hope to have the pool ready to use within a few weeks, which our original contractor said was not possible, but Lupe made it happen, and plastering started that Friday! We asked for a Primera Stone plaster in a specific color and Lupe found the materials, and his plaster crew, all 11 of them were happy and friendly workers that made pretty quick work of the plaster job. Lupe was there to oversee their work and took the time to explain to us the process they were doing. It was fun to watch and you could see that the entire Blue Moon crew was excited to see how pleased we were with their effort. The following day, which happened to be the Saturday before Father's Day, Lupe and his crew were back to sand and polish the pool surface. They stayed until the job was finished and cleaned the entire area up, hauled away the trash, and before he left, Lupe walked us through the next steps that we should expect from the original pool contractor for our pool start up. He also talked about the importance of pool maintenance and showed us how to make sure the chemicals were in balance. The Monday after Father's Day, Lupe and a smaller crew were back to check on the pool, and ask if we had any questions. We found Lupe and his entire crew to be professional, well-trained, and courteous. Not only did they deliver a completed project well in advance of when we had been told it would be finished, but the end result is beautiful and we couldn't be more thankful for what their company did for our family. Absolutely terrible customer service. They never returned your phone calls, or emails. We got our Pool and Spa replastered a little over 5 years ago and it was already starting to delaminate and Chip Away. So I drained the pool and fixed the spots myself. Then it got worse in other spots but it was fine where I repaired it. They came out and said that they would not warranty it because we drained the pool without them being there and observing it being drained. Which is absolute horseshit. I will never recommend this company to anybody like I said in the beginning they have the worst customer service I have ever dealt with in my entire life. I found them to be the most unprofessional group of people I have ever worked with. They never return your calls, They ignore your emails. They send the crew out without letting you know they are coming. They hopped the fence to do work one day instead of coming and asking me to let them in. The next time they came they cut the chain off the fence to get in so they could do what they needed to do. They refinished the spa and left with no instructions, no follow up, nothing. I had to email them and ask for information and got an email back that said 'I recommend you don't use it for 2 weeks". I would never use them again and anyone that is planning on using them good luck because you are going to need it. read more

1 star for the product they delivered 0 stars for customer service We decided to go with this company based on several sources recommending. We should have trusted previous reviews here. We did not get the pool we asked for. When Richard came out, we had a conversation about pool colors, which was written on our proposal. Well, that was not properly transcribed to our contract. Because of this, I specifically verified with the crew that it was going to be a certain color, pointing to our proposal in hand ( Before they poured the plaster). The exact answer was, "it's going to be great." We ended up getting a totally different pool color than agreed upon. Going into further detail of poor workmanship: The tear-town process resulted in large chunks to small bits of plaster landing everywhere, I found some six months later in our yard. In addition, a portion of our garden is now dead thanks to the workers washing all their plaster supplies in one particular area despite me preemptively asking them to do so elsewhere. Once the pool was finished, there were major leaks which we had to pay for out of pocket, a thousand dollars later. Also, our weekly pool person spotted several areas where the plaster was uneven. It took six months for Blue moon to finally "fix" the uneven surface. To make the experience even worse, Blue Moon's response to all of this was that they were defensive and offered no apologies or service remediation. They made it clear that they have bigger jobs and they've already established their reputation. Clearly, they are not trying to keep it. read more

We had Blue Moon Pools out to give a bid on resurfacing our pool, coping, tile, add a baja shelf, and a few other things. Joey came out and seemed thorough enough when he was here. He said he would have a bid ready in a couple of days. I received the bid about a week later, but he said he would still "need some more time" to figure out the additional numbers. Already the bid was way higher than the other estimates we received, even without the missing costs. I have no idea why it would possibly take so long to come up with the full estimate. One company we had out (who we ended up choosing), measured and calculated the numbers on the spot and went over them with us, all in less time than it took Joey just to do his initial measuring. I asked Joey to please send the additional costs when they were ready, as I did want a full comparison. That was a month ago and I still haven't heard back. At this point we're already 90% through the remodel with another company. Maybe he's still busy crunching the numbers? read more

BMP has recently remodeled my pool: new plaster, new tiles & they partially rebuilt my spa. One month after the job was completed we noticed water seeping through the tiles in my raised spa .There was water stains on the button too. ( where the raised spa wall meets the concrete patio ). The silicon filling didn't work and the tiles on the bottom started popping up because of water damage. Blue Moon Pools warranty departmet started replacing pop up tiles with new ones. Replacing several popped up tiles is only temporal solution, cosmetic one. New tiles will pop up again and that is exactly what happened. *****Update1: One year after the remodeling , my spa is still seeping, all wet grout lines are now covered with calcium deposits and drip stains . I will keep posting updates. ****Update 2*** After the last inspection Blue Moon pools decides to redo their spa work from scratch. We agreed to do it off season ... *****Update 3**** Blue Moon honored their warranty . They stripped entire old plaster and interior tiles , sealed and waterproofed gunite ,then retiled and re-plastered my entire spa . Blue Moon pools stood behind their work 100% and it was a pleasure to deal with them . The whole crew members were very professional and knowledgeable. I am thankful that they took time to investigate the issue and even did research on new products. And what matters most to me , they did really care and worked hard to make things right. Look no further. We just had our 37 y/o pool redone by Blue Moon Pools and we couldn't be more satisfied. I had three other companies give us estimates and suggestions. First of all, my pool is behind my house and down a steep hill, about 3 levels of house. It also had a crack and I was using an unsightly automatic pool filler and sweeps. Richard our salesperson, extremely knowledgable and low keyed, wasn't fazed by our situation. Three of the four, including Blue Moon, only deals with the pool and not the deck. All recommended Life Deck, who I have used in the past, and I suggest calling Scott, their salesperson. (Great job.) Cynthia, in Blue Moon's office, coordinates each step of the job with the wonderful help of Evonna at the switchboard. Rick is the next supervisor behind Lupe. Both were out on the job getting dirty themselves. Mine was a complicated job with some minor issues. Rick was out making sure the problems were professionally and correctly resolved. Nobody wants problems but in my mind how those are handled speaks a lot about a company. From demo to startup Blue Moon Pools was A CLASS ACT. Shoutouts for Alberto and Dino who were especially great. I highly recommend Blue Moon Pools. I ended up with a quality remodle of my pool with all the latest gadgets at no hidden cost. Our pool needed to be replastered. There were half a dozen rust spots and the texture was getting rough in some areas. Blue moon office personnel was very professional, the estimator came in a day or two. Demo was done in one day. The plaster and repair crew is made up of employees of Blue Moon, not temporary help. They were meticulous and did a great job. They also recommended a guy to clean the tiles - Jim Evans - and he addressed the white calcium deposits, both on the tile and on the rock face of the spa. This company is working on my neighbor's pool this week; this morning, their plaster truck came through the alley and destroyed my back gate, never stopping to tell me. The entire door is torn open and must now be replaced. "Joey", the manager came out when "Juan" took responsibility but then kept changing his story in order to take no responsibility. Turns out Joey is really more of a professional claims adjuster and insisted it was the City garbage truck, which I'd already contacted, and found, they were traveling in a direction that could not have caused this damage. Bottom line, they won't take responsibility, I'm out hundreds of dollars to have my door replaced and painted, and this company is clearly in the habit of avoiding being honest. Don't let these people near your pool. They are totally incompetent. Last Fall we had an intractable problem with brown algae in our 25k gallon pool that no amount of chemicals could cure. The pool is about 16 years old and several pool people I had out said the only cure was to re-plaster it. I unfortunately hired Blue Moon for the job. In about 2 weeks after they finished the algae started to reappear and now it is as bad as it was before the re-plaster. IIt is obvious that they didn't take off enough of the old plaster for this to happen. In addition, They forgot tiles that were supposed to go on the steps until they had done the plastering and they clogged our spa jets with the plaster they took off. Terrible job all around and I don't know what to do about it short of having the job redone! read more

Right from the get go, the two workers assigned to the job greeted me and were very pleasant and respectful throughout the two days they were working on our skimmer replacements, tile, and crack repair. A third worker (tile setter) joined the crew on day two and he was equally pleasant and respectful. We had used this company for a complete resurfacing of the pool about 4 years ago and were very satisfied with their work, their price and reliability. A recent unrelated problem reminded us to give them another try, and once again they were great. They responded promptly, diagnosed the problem, and recommended the fix. The work was performed as promised and we are once again delighted. This involved removing some tiles which they did without breaking one, cutting a spillway into the spa, and replacing the tiles. Their employees were great, did the job in a workmanlike manner, and cleaned up thoroughly. Very good company to work with. Very happy with the company and the quality of work. We redid the whole pool (coping, tile and plaster). They had different teams that did each phase, which meant that they had "specialists" doing each part. They build a new baja step and changed the shape of our spa. We chose primera stone tahoe coast for the plaster, which is beautiful. One of the best things about our experience was that the foreman Jupe was around often and easy to communicate with. He did a great job with quality control. We have had other projects at our house, and being able to easily reach and communicate issues is HUGE. I had my pool redone and they had told me it was guaranteed for five years. The plaster started pealing off within four years. I made several attempts to call them and I never received any call back.
