I hired Sol Pacific to resurface our older pool with pebble tech. After we interviewed 3 very reputable companies, we chose Sol Pacific. I had worked closely with Kyle. He was very responsive and communicative during the entire process. Our new pool and tub looks great with the mini pebble surface even though it was done over a year ago. After receiving a recommendation for Sol Pacific Pools, we contracted with their company to completely rebuild our 34+ year old fiberglass pool. To say we are unhappy with the final results is an understatement and we would warn others to think twice before choosing them for any pool construction. After they came out and measured our pool (incorrectly) we signed a contract and went to their office to pick out our tile, coping and Pebble Sheen. We brought several samples of Travertine coping tiles to our home and realized, due to the coloring of our cement patio and walkways, they did not work. We went back to their office and one of the owners, Kyle Buettgenbach, brought out a coping material that looked perfect with the side tiles we had selected. Because it was a very dark gray, they warned us the coping would get hot in the sun and it would also require a sealer every one to two years. We chose the coping because it achieved the look we wanted and we thought we could deal with an annual or bi-annual sealer being applied. We trusted they were presenting us with good products that would would last for years. During their construction, we discovered our well water was leaving marks on the coping and the tiles were not suitable for bullnosed edges. Kyle came to our house and assured us when the sealer was applied, neither would be an issue. But after the sealer was applied, the problems continued. We were told they had used the wrong sealer and a rep came out to figure out what should have been used. He commented he had never seen their product used on a pool as coping but "thought it would probably work". When the coping was completed, they finished it with the "correct" sealer. They also applied polymeric sand around the coping and spa edges instead of using mastic. When I questioned that it wouldn't last, I was assured they would come back and replace it with another material if there was a problem. When the pool was completed we weren't overly happy with the final result but, with what we thought was the correct sealer, we agreed it was acceptable and made the final payment. About four months later, after receiving 3-4 inches of rain, we found one of the coping tiles chipped, the sealer they applied was completely washed off all of the coping, and the sand compound was washing away from the edges. We took photos of the damages and sent them to Kyle. His response has been that it looked like we or our pool cleaner had dropped something on the tile causing the damage and there was no warranty. He advised us the tile could be repaired but at our cost. He has ignored our requests for him to come to our home to see the overall condition of our pool. Even though he personally presented the coping at their office as an option for our pool, Kyle put the blame on us for selecting a coping that was not a good product without researching it first! He has completely ignored all of our complaints about the coping damages and the finishing materials they used. He has responded by putting the blame on us. We paid Sol Pacific Pools about $37,000 to refinish our pool and, without our ever using it, the pool looks worse than the old one we replaced. Since this started, we have consulted with two pool companies regarding the coping and finishing materials. They independently advised us we have three or four additional tiles that feel like they will probably start peeling away as the first one has. The tiles should never have been marketed as pool coping, and neither man had ever seen a pool finished with polymeric sand instead of mastic. Sol Pacific Pools couldn't be less concerned about the condition of our pool. They are a great company to begin with but when there is a problem with their work or the materials they use, they will treat you like crap. We recommend anyone looking for a reputable pool company to go elsewhere! read more

We had some weird Yellow streaks in our pool. Just random here and there.Called Kyle at Sol Pacific. His company had redone our pool about 4 years ago. With Pebble tech and we were worried we had some way damaged it. He came out said it was metal stain. We relized it was metal pieces from our gardener. His guys came the next day. You lied to me when I agreed to let you fix my pool in exchange for not suing. I held my end of the bargain and didn't go to court to easily beat you (huge regret I should have) then you tried to screw me with a bill for 5900 after you failed to repair anything. I might file it again, going over my next legal options against your criminally incompetent company These fools put an illegal/Invalid lien on my house that they had to remove and as such they owe me legal fees for that. Don't worry guy I've given up on you ever doing the right thing and I'm stuck with this ugly ass pool so there will be more to come. Anybody with at least 1 eye can see this pool is absolutely disgusting and you doubling down and saying this is what a pool should look like is just further proof that nobody should ever use you. It doesn't take being any kind of pool expert for a judge to see this pool is total trash. After I figure out my next move fighting these frauds I'll update again. I have 1 of 3 options now, sue you in small claims again, file again against your lying ass to CSLB or a straight out lawsuit against you since you should pay me more than the 10k I can max out at small claims. We had Sol Pacific refinish our pool after ( The San Diego Pool Company,LLC ) screwed it up. They started on Feb,14 2023 and started to fill it with water April 14, 2023 it was a very stressful experience, all there different crews don't communicate very well. Kyle & Ray where helpful for the most part. For the most part they did a good job. We are just glad it's over. Videos of the job are on YouTube under 1923bob. BEWARE. I hired Sol Pacific Pool Plastering to replace the water line tile and resurface a 15,000-gallon pool. They quoted the estimated completion time to be one month from the start date, but it took them four months to complete after having been on a waitlist for three months. The demo team showed up randomly a day earlier than scheduled, when I had company coming over, so I had to cancel my plans to let them work or reschedule. For demo, the contract stated that the old plaster would be entirely jackhammered off or the surface would be prepared with a bonding agent, so the new plaster can form a strong bond to the pool surface, they did neither. All they did was pressure wash as much of the old plaster that would come off with a pressure washer which took two guys two hours to do and three guys a few hours to cleanup and billed me $6,000 for demo. After the demo, they took it upon themselves, without my consent or knowing, to perform repairs on some cracks in the concrete. These cracks were common shrinkage cracks that they performed structural crack repairs to. Kyle, the CEO claimed that they were structural and needed to be done for them to complete the job that is why they did the work without asking and billed me for $3,500. I asked Kyle to justify how the cracks were structural and he declined to respond. When I refused to pay for the crack repairs, he ghosted me and abandoned the job for 5 weeks until I threatened them with a lawsuit. They responded a day later and offered to take $2,000 dollars of the charges and said they would only complete the pool if I accepted - The materials for the repairs were only $600. When it came time to install the tiles, they had forgot to order the decorative tiles placed every 6th tile, so they did the tile job anyway with just the basic tiles. They also were drinking alcohol on the job and left empty beer cans in my pool. After weeks of waiting for the decorative tiles to arrive, the wrong tiles showed up and they claimed that it was a logistical error by the supplier. During this waiting period the company was extremely unresponsive and didn't respond to texts or emails I sent inquiring about the status of the tiles or when they would have people come out to complete the job. I had to drive out to the company location in Alpine to see what was going on. When I got there the tiles were sitting on a palate in the back and they said they had just come in a few days ago. While I was at their shop, I noticed the display sample of Pebble Fina Egyptian Sands was a completely different color that the one shown in the catalog they provided. The difference was night and day, so I was obligated to upgrade to Desert Gold Pebble Sheen for an additional $1,500 because it was the only plaster color available that didn't clash with the tiles already installed. They also mentioned while I was there that the plaster mixing compound hadn't arrived yet so I would have to wait longer if I wanted the Egyptian Sands - they started a job knowing they didn't have the materials to complete it. To top things off, after they finished applying the plaster, the acid wash crew came by to clean the finish. Billy the acid wash crew lead offered to align the pool light that was slightly off center because of a bent light retaining flange. Instead of correcting the bend, this guy grabs a hammer and a flat head and chips away at the new finish to try and get it to set, damaging the finish. This company lacks professionalism and promptness on a level I've never seen before. They tried to run up a bill to over $17,000 on a contract that was initial $12,000. After everything is said and done, I waited 7 months to have a pool swimmable and now I'm left with an unreliable finish of new plaster on top of old plaster with a guarantee to fix it when it fails from an unreliable company. I strongly recommend if you are on a waitlist for this company to get off it and find another company. I had Kiersten give me a quote in April 2021 to refinish my pool. The old plaster was on its last leg and I wanted a finish that would last a while. After it's all said & done, this remodeling job was about $23K, so no small sum. The job was scheduled to start at the end of October as I wanted to get as much of the 2021 swim season as I can. Demo started promptly, followed by tile work. Due to supply issues with my turtles from NPT, it took a little time for tiling to be done. There was a lull in the works in December due to the holidays and rains, but things picked up again in the new year. Once plastering started, the job went quickly. Right now I'm in my 2nd week of start-up and things look great. Not all was perfect of course, as it does with any remodeling job, but I trust Sol Pacific to take care of things. A long story ... with a happy ending! I first contacted Sol Pacific almost a year ago to have my pool re-plastered. They offered the best price, and we selected them to redo the pool in PebbleTec PebbleFina in the Steel Gray color. Since I didn't want to have the job done over the summer, I picked early November 2022 to begin work. They showed up as promised and with a large crew made short work of the demo and re-plastering and acid wash. I was delighted with how well the pool came out ...until I refilled it with water and saw it was covered white residue! Over the next 5 months Sol Pacific came out acid washed the pool multiple times (including a weeklong acid bath) until they finally got it solved ... and I ended up with a beautiful pool! All in all, it was a long process ... I'm not sure what caused all the residue in the first place ... and I did end up having to refill the pool two extra times and re-condition the water once at my expense ... but in the end, Sol Pacific stood by their product and their work ... the manager and owner came out to address the problem and they kept coming back [even after I had already paid the bill] to make it right! read more

I spoke to Marcus, who immediately offered to stop by to see my pool. After the inspection, he said that the issues I'm seeing are chemical issues as well as normal " Wear and tear". We have Pebble Fina and the smooth over-layer is fading away and the actual "pebble mix" is starting to show. He said this is normal and should expect this to spread over time. That would've been nice to know before spending all that money. Although I was hoping for a way to fix the issue, I'm glad that someone at least reached out to me, stopped by to see my issue, and explained what was happening. I purchased a house in July 2020. One thing I've come to notice is any home improvement business reviews are purely based off customer service and not really the work performed. An example is the insulation company I had used, had all 50+ 5 star reviews, but I can guarantee you very few if any of those reviewers crawled in their attic to see if the work that was performed. Mine was a mess. From the many projects needed around the house, many of the businesses that I've worked with since July, came up short and/or didn't perform to contract. It's very disappointing. I now know any one that's been in business for some time will have a bad review or two, when they are all perfect, I'm very suspicious. Now SOL pacific wasn't a company I picked. The house I bought had work done on by SOL pacific in the past. When I bought the house, there was some work that required to be fixed per the previous owner. After some back and forth with Kyle, and some patience, Kyle sent one of his guys out to fix the issue. Kyle wasn't the best at communicating, as you'll see some of the reviews mentioned, but don't let that take away from the quality work they do perform. In my case, some concrete needed to be busted up and replaced. The work performed and quality taken on a go-back project is amazing. I like to think that my scenario really captured SOL pacific as a whole, and they perform some quality work and stand behind it. For this reason, I'll only been sourcing my pool work out to them. For anyone on the fence about some negative reviews about sol pacific, don't be. Their work on the pool was the reason I bought a house from the '60s. Beware of this company, false promises, and unprofessionalism! I waited to post this review as I was hoping Kyle at Sol Pacific would fulfill the promises he made, to date he has not. This project started, with wanting our pool to be resurfaced and new tiles. Simple enough or so we thought! Kiersten came and gave us a quote and she was lovely; she promised our pool would look amazing when they were all done. The demo crew began the process of our nightmare. The guys on the demo crew were nice but the whole process was extremely loud and messy. Once they were done, we noticed several spots that were not fully demolished on the shallow end of the pool. Those spots sounded hollow, like they needed more of the old concrete removed. When it was addressed with Kyle, we were told it would be taken care of and not to worry. The crew supervisor (Joe, we never got his name) made himself at home under the shade and rarely looked up from his phone to see his crew of guys in our pool. I happened to take photos during the process just for my own sake. I'm glad I did because they came in handy later when more issues arose. The next step was masonry, again nice guys but the tiles were not all ordered, and we had to wait for the bullnose tiles to come in. The next crew arrived for the concrete, 5-10 guys at a time working together and quite fascinating to watch. Joe never looked up! Then the Pebbletech crew started the final phase of surfacing. Our pool was looking pretty, and we were happy. Billy the project manager assigned to our job was a nice guy and seemed to have all the right answers. Once the surface was acid washed, they started filling the pool. I noticed immediately that there were draining stripes from the acid wash on the bottom of the pool. The surface looked dusty, I sent pictures to Kyle and Billy and was told the water needed to balance and the pool needed to "cure" for 28 days and those imperfections would go away. It was normal for the surface to look lighter in some spots and to wait to see how it would look once the balancing process was done. We waited and the pool continued to look foggy and milky and not clean. Even after the balancing guy was just there. Not what we thought it would look like and we were very disappointed. After 28 days of the concrete curing, we again called and told SP that we were not happy with how the pool surface looked. Finally, Kyle sent David out to look at the pool. He was very nice and did say "oh yeah that doesn't look right". Dave showed me a demo of putting acid on the bottom of the odd-looking spots, saying "see it looks better" at that point I was not believing anything they were telling me. David asked me if I had any pictures to send to Kyle...luckily, I took some! Kyle and Dave talked, and they decided that the pool that was just filled 30 days ago needed to be emptied and re-acid washed. Kyle promised he would pay our water bill to fill it again. The only other option was to acid wash without draining the pool but that would take another month and it would probably not look better. We reluctantly opted to drain the pool to fix the issue that was pointed out to them as the pool was filling the first time...could have been an easy fix if the owner came to see the jobs. We were told Kyle was on vacation and not available. Once the pool was drained Dave personally came to do the acid wash and the pool did look much better. We still have weird stripes from the first acid wash but now we are just living with them. When the pool was drained again, we noticed the light that worked perfectly fine before now had water inside it. We were told that it was not SP that didn't put the light back correctly and to make sure there was not a kink in the light wiring! That's whole other issue. Now our pool still is not right the water is green, the surface has stripes, the light is not fixed, the jets don't work, and no payment for the water bill. I have emailed and texted Kyle, and no response. Perhaps he's on vacation again. Long review but I wish I had seen the similar experiences other customers had with this company. Look for a different company before hiring Sol Pacific! Mind you each phase needed to be fully paid before the next steps were taken, we paid in full every step of the way. In San Diego you have 2 choices of installers if you want Pebble Tec plaster Gardner and Sol Pacific. Sol Pacific had marginally better reviews than Gardner and came in cheaper so we went with Sol Pacific. Unfortunately this was a terrible mistake . Kristen the initial contact was awesome. Very responsive and knowledgeable she gave us the initial quote. There was a delay in starting due to Covid The initial quote was to start May it's approx 5 week install estimate finish @ June 18th. We had surrounding concrete and plaster/ tile demo with new concreting, coping. tile and Pebble Tec sheen planned . Demo occurred very quickly. Clean up excellent workers were polite. Our issues came with the new install. Tiling and plastering was done while we were out of town on vacation When we returned, on initial inspection looked beautiful we were very pleased. The concrete was laid and we began to see out back yard come together. Then the nightmare started, Kyle is frequently unavailable doesn't answer his phone or email and claims he was on vacation where cell service is limited....this occurred many many times.We developed a leak under the concrete Kyle insisted it was our old pipes, however when they pulled up the new concrete to look the new pipes they had just repaired were cracked. Fast forward repair and relay that portion of the concrete. Kyle finally turned up and I pointed out that the edge of the spa spillway tile that was exposed did not have color like the rest of the tile. He said not all tiles had the paint on the sides and he could sent someone out to "dust" the tile with paint. Mind you I have 100s of waterline tile with no edges exposed. You would think that among all of them they would have been at least a sorted the best tile edges and save them for the spillway. (I will attach a photo) A second leak occurred in a different area Again it was difficult to contact Kyle, finally he sent his leak guy out that said he found a leak " under the spa " we refused to believe this and said we would get our own leak assessment. Kyle sent another guy who found the leak under the newly laid concrete in the other side of the spa Again once the concrete was pulled up the leak was in the new pipes that were cracked. This was repaired and new concrete relaid. The concrete was orange! Multiple calls / emails again to Kyle who continued to avoid any contact what do ever. Finally he responded and said you had to wait 28 days for it to fully cure. Fast forward to 28 days... nope still Orange concrete ... sent another crew, pull up orange concrete lay new concrete .... Still looks orange or probably more of a rust color. Again tried to contact Kyle no response, yet we got a bill for the final amount owing . This is 6 months after the initial start date in May. I would not have paid him but my husband did I wanted to withhold the final payment I order to get a private contractor to fix the concrete . We have yet to have a final walk through, no punch list no nothing no contact. I would not recommend Sol Pacific Pools to anyone. Kyle is very unprofessional and unresponsive. For a $35,000 pool remodel you would expect perfection. The 2 stars I gave are for the almost perfect tile and his pleasant workers. read more

UPDATED: GOOD PEOPLE, POOR PROJECT MANAGEMENT Update 2022-06-30: After I posted the original one-star review, the owner, Marcus, finally put some attention on our project and resolved things to our satisfaction. A "no-drain acid wash" took care of the white residue, and the water quality has since been balanced by the owner's brother, Justin. I also learned our original "project manager" has left the company. Upping from one star to three. Would I recommend Sol Pacific? Only with reservations: Get contract dates in writing, with penalties stated, and require two-party sign-off of written change orders for any and all deviation from the contracted schedule. ------------------------------------- Our saga with Sol Pacific started a year ago, when we met with a sales person in June 2021. We executed a signed a contract to have our pool's tile cleaned and surface replastered on 2021-08-29. We were told the work would start in December. .On 2022-01-04, the sales person called to tell us work was delayed; on 2022-01-24, she emailed to verify the selected color "PebbleFina Black Galaxy". Actual demolition started on 2022-01-27; the machine they brought to do the work broke, so rough demolition couldn't be finished until the next day. Final demolition was completed 2022-02-01. Masonary cleaning didn't start until the end of February, a gap of more than three weeks, and didn't finish until early March. Despite repeated calls, we could not get a firm date on plastering. The plastering crew did not arrive until 2022-03-31. The plaster did not cure properly. While it's (supposedly) normal for plaster to release white material as it cures, in our case the black plaster never completely released the white, leaving an uneven, blotchy, mottled surface. We repeatedly contacted Sol Pacific, and got visits in April from the owner. In May 2022, they added some granules that cause even more streaking. We were told not to use the pool because they had added acid to the water to try to remove the chalky residue. The owner visited again in early June and assured us they would have it corrected "by the end of the week". We're nearly two weeks later, and no one has come again. We've been running the pump, but pool is now growing algae and looks far worse than it did before we started. Through the entire process, their customer communication has been non-existent. We only got updates when we called and texted repeatedly. We are now ONE FULL YEAR past our original contact with Sol Pacific. Our pool is unusable and they still have not corrected the issue. I just visited the BBB web site and found a complaint that is nearly identical to what I've written here - truly depressing. If I could give a negative number of stars, I would. I am still in contact with the owner, Marcus, and I truly hope I can amend this review with a positive outcome. For now, one year in, this is where we stand. read more

zero stars - wish there was a -100 star rating This company is horrible. We would request work to be done, and it would be done half way. They had all the ground dug up, new pipes laid, and when it came to installing the light, they couldn't get it to work. They basically drained and refilled the pool 3 times trying to sort this out - at our expense. They were hired because they are supposedly pool experts. Months after they were supposedly done, we learned that one could install a place to hook up a hose when you need to drain water out of the pool. When we asked why they didn't put one in, they said it was because we didn't ask for one. Weird, I thought they were the experts. So now we get to manually syphon water - a continual reminder of this horrible and very expensive job. read more

I would highly recommend Marcus and his team of awesome guys! From day one, everybody was professional and personable, and knew exactly what they were doing. Our pool was 30 years old with the original plaster and needed to be redone. We decided to get an ocean blue color with pebble like sand and are absolutely in love with our new pool. The whole process from start to finish took about two weeks and we were just amazed at how efficient this whole team was! Any time we had any questions (and I asked a lot :) Marcus or one of his guys would be more than happy to answer it. We also had a railing installed, so it would be easier for my dad to get in and out of the pool. We also replaced our old lights with brand new lights and covers in the pool so the pool and Jacuzzi would be brighter in the evening. Each crew of guys that would show up each day for the next stage, would be friendly and clean up their messes at the end of the day. I never found trash or leftover pieces of unused materials left behind. They protected my deck with plastic and cleaned up after themselves completely. The also returned for the startup service and I'm very impressed. My wife and I hired Sol Pacific to plaster our new pool in Borrego Springs. We wanted a pebble finish and were interested in the PebbleTec and StoneScape brands. Sol Pacific is a certified installer for both. It can be a challenge getting workers to come to the desert, but Marcus, the owner, was willing to take on the job. He spent time with both my wife and I in the Spring and answered all of our questions. There were numerous delays getting the pool ready for inspection (the step immediately before plaster) but it was finally ready for plaster in July. During this waiting period we were in contact with Marcus and kept him apprised of our progress, or lack thereof. It is hot in Borrego in July. Cori scheduled the job almost immediately after we passed inspection and was all over the nuts and bolts of every detail to make sure the crew had everything they needed and we got what we wanted. The crew arrived at 6AM to beat the heat and was done by about 10AM. They were very careful and covered the flagstone deck before starting to plaster. When finished they did an excellent job of cleaning up. David came out the next day to acid wash. He arrived early to beat the heat, answered all of our final questions, and started filling the pool. We are very pleased with the finish, it looks wonderful. We chose the PebbleTec Pebble Sheen finish. Everyone we worked with at Sol Pacific was professional, knowledgeable, and just plain nice. Two words: "Nailed it"! These guys did a fantastic job with my Pebblesheen pool walls/floor. They showed up on time. Were polite and professional. Answered my questions. Worked quickly. Clean up thoroughly. AND, most importantly, they were able to make the texture smoother (by far) than I had felt with other Pebblesheen pools installed by their competitors. I hate to leave a bad review for any business, but I want other homeowners to hear about my experience so that they don't end up in the same situation. I've never had to leave a negative review on Yelp because I always do my research before hiring any contractors. I am not new to the construction industry and have done numerous big remodeling projects in the past years. Unfortunately, this time I made a big mistake hiring Sol Pacific for my pool remodeling project. This was a big pool remodeling project including new plastering. Sol Pacific over promised and under delivered! In early 2021 I decided to do a complete backyard remodeling including the pool, pavers, retaining walls, BBQ Island, and new patio decks. I had no issues with my other contractors except for Sol Pacific! Sol Pacific caused extensive delays and inconvenience to other contractors who were working in my backyard. For example, I had to send my concrete contractor home 3 days straight because Sol Pacific refused to send his crew out to fix the defected spa wall. Sol Pacific demanded the next payment when the job was not fully completed and threatened to suspend the job. The project was supposed to start on August 5, 2021. I requested a week off work for this project to take off. On August 4th Kyle (co-owner) called me and said he could still start the project as scheduled but wouldn't have a crew to do the masonry work until a month later. He asked if I wanted to hold off on the demo. At this point I had already placed a $1,000 deposit and signed the contract. I once again asked about the completion date and he reassured me that it would be completed by late September. I decided to go ahead with the demo and wait for the masonry crew. This was a big mistake and only the beginning of what I called "inconvenience". Demo of the plastering and tiles took place on August 5th as scheduled. The next day I discovered a deep long scratch on the bottom of my driveway and a few scattered scratches and tire marks on the driveway. I immediately notified Kyle and he said his company would take care of the repair. Pass forward, the project did not finish until December 24, 2021 (that was only the first day of the 28 days new plaster chemistry start up). The day Sol Pacific plastered the pool, Kyle demanded the full final payment. By that time it had been over four months since they had damaged my driveway with no active plan on how they would repair my driveway. We made an agreement that if I paid Kyle in full I could have my original paver installer restore the driveway to its original condition and that Kyle would take care of the repair costs. Kyle said he would pay the installer directly and that I didn't need to retain any money from the final payment. I hired the original installer of my paver driveway to do the repair and they sent Kyle an invoice which he refused to pay. I sent an email to Kyle on March 14, 2022 requesting that he resolve the driveway repair issue but to date I have not gotten a response from Kyle. When I started the pool remodeling in August 2021 I was working full-time , but after seeing the defected work, lack of communication, and the damages on my property I started working part-time, and towards the end of the project I made sure either myself or my husband was home every day that Sol Pacific's employees were working on my pool. I was babysitting this job from start to finish and yet still encountered so many issues. Other issues I encountered with this company during the five months construction: - Deviation from contract - Wrong coping - Reduced the coping size without my consent - Demands for payment before project completion - Negligence and lack of supervision - Refusal to repair property damages caused during construction - Defected workmanship - The replacement of four spa jets: Sol Pacific was supposed to replace four new spa jets. I constantly reminded Kyle (co-owner) and Bill (project manager )to remember to order the proper size jets for the spa. Unfortunately, the jets did NOT fit and they ended up having to drain out the water inside the spa to install the new jets. This caused an overwhelming frustration. They wasted 1,300 gallons of water when the spa had to be emptied for the jets installation. - Delays of project completion by 3 months This delays is not due to materials availability. Project started on August 5th, 2021 and completed on December 24th, 2021 (not including the 28 days new plaster chemistry start up). The 28 days new plaster chemistry start up completed January 17th 2021. This project supposed to be completed end of September 2021 (I was told 6-8 weeks)! - Delays of the 28 days new plaster start-up per National Plasterers Council Guidelines. I submitted my complaint against this company to the Contractors State License Board for review. I paid them in full, fair and square, and I expect to be treated fairly! read more

Sol Pacific is unequivocally a 5-star company! We recently had our pool redone.....the plaster was starting to fade and chip, the coping was looking worn, and the rock facade was a little dated. My husband obsessively researched companies, interviewed and got quotes from several, and selected Kyle and Sol Pacific. They have a lot of experience, great reviews, and incredible customer service. And on top of that, they were able to do the work at a price that was better than the competition. Kyle and team were incredibly responsive and patient with us as we thought through design options, tile selection, etc. They even suggested options for us to save money where possible (e.g., they said we didn't need to replace our coping, only the mastic). We appreciated the honesty and collaboration throughout the project. We had another contractor doing the rock work, and Kyle coordinated directly with him to ensure the work was done efficiently. The entire team was very respectful of our property and our neighbors. The project was done on time, on budget, and our pool looks beyond AMAZING. Here are a few highlights: From project timelines to project completion, there was extremely poor communication (usually if there was communication it was initiated by me, not by Sol Pacific) and a ton of frustration. Timelines were inaccurate. The project was originally quoted at 2-3 weeks (we have this in writing from their sales rep) and took 4 months. Materials were not ordered on time and because of that they became unavailable. Issues were brushed off when I brought them up. I was even told at one point that I was told that I was "seeing an optical illusion" when the completed coping was not level, that's just "how it was supposed to be". I was told this several times until the owner of the company finally came and took a look and agreed that it needed to be fixed. They finally fixed it after telling me several times that there was nothing wrong. It was made very clear that Sol Pacific had plenty of business and we could take ours elsewhere if we weren't happy with timelines or anything else. They definitely go for quantity over quality and are not concerned with customer statisfaction. The final straw of frustration is that I was told not to turn on the new saltwater equipment for 60-90 days. Sol Pacific's "30 day startup" is BS - this $20,000 brand new pool is already green. Sol Pacific was incredibly unhelpful with any info on how to use the new salt equipment, other than giving me inaccurate info. I finally caved and hired a cleaning company to help me at least get the thing functioning and their guy told me that everything Sol Pacific said (i.e. salt water not needing to be plugged in yet, not needing to add salt yet, the system not working in under 60 degree water temps), was totally false. All in all, a headache of a process that I am extremely glad to be done with. I really hope other pool companies are better than this because I feel like I spent a ton of time and money on a company that could have cared less. read more

We had hired Sol Pacific Plastering based on pricing and their ability to self perform the pebble sheen application, we didn't look at reviews and should have from the beginning. Now I understand COVID had an impact on all businesses during this time, whether good or bad, but the companies need to get it figured out 2 years into COVID. Kiersten was great at getting out to our home and getting us the quote and answering any questions. My husband and I both work in construction and understand the delays in receiving items, and understand scheduling. We had received our quote in July, planned a start date in November. During the demo process, they did an amazing job of covering the pool like a circus tent to prevent all the dust and dirt from getting all over the place. When it came to demo the coping, we had a guy who was walking around barefoot, i immediately texted billy, he then called Kyle and the gentleman was removed from the jobsite. In August we had looked and placed our tile order because we didn't want to hear an excuse "oh, they're going to be here in 3 months" ... when it came time to start the tile, the tile we had chosen was discontinued, then we had to order another tile, that one was out of stock/discontinued as well and luckily Billy was able to find the "exact" same tile but it took a week or so to get it here putting the pool behind another week. The work for the coping, tile, plaster, etc. was great workmanship, don't get me wrong, the project management side of this was a NIGHTMARE! From the beginning of the project i asked for a schedule timeline of events for the pool so we could plan around it with our animals and made sure that one of us was home incase they had any questions or concerns, not once did i receive a schedule, i would receive a call that someone would be there in an hour, but guess what the people had shown up 30 minutes before that phone call, i would have people show up on the weekend, without warning or notice. I had to schedule with the clean up crew and mastic company, because they knew their schedule better than Sol Pacific... We never received a start up crew, three weeks into it and not touching our pool, we finally had our pool company come out to do the work, now let's hope that we don't have issues with the curing process as the "start up process is critical" and it didn't get done properly. After sending Kyle, Billy and INFO at Sol Pacific an email concerned about the process and cost and lack there of communication, we only received the final bill with a credit requested for the lack of start up. No communication back as to why, what, who, or sorry. I didn't feel as if i was a difficult customer to deal with, just wanted a schedule and the right products installed ... i hope they can hire some competent project managers to keep up with their demand so other customer's don't get the short end of the stick. read more

I had Sol Pacific came out to do a repair on my pool. Developed a small rust spot on a round edge around the hot tub. It's happens. David came out and was able to remove the rust and patch it before it really spread. He did a great job! David was very friendly and informative and answered all sorts of questions I had around maintenance of my pool. Being a pool owner, it's always super exciting when you find a company that can service an integral component and you can turn too in the future when issues arise. I'm going to start by saying, Sol Pacific did an OUTSTANDING job completely remodeling my pool in Fallbrook (Feb '17). Like many, I was a bit skeptical entering into the process as I've heard numerous horror stories about pool builders/remodelers over the years. This was absolutely NOT the case with Sol Pacific as they were terrific throughout the process. Marcus was my point of contact throughout the project and he took great care in explaining the process from start to finish. He was quick to respond to any of my texts and/or calls and was also timely in notifying me of any schedule changes or delays in the arrival of his daily crews. When I was unsure as to the tile and stone I would use, Marcus suggested we meet me at both facilities to help with the selection of the various various materials. This was extremely helpful. I believe all their workers are employed by Sol Pacific, and they were all clean, hard-working and respectful. In my opinion the craftsmanship utilized in all phases of the remodel was Grade A. From the demo crew, to the tile setter and stone mason, to the plastering crew they all appeared experienced and well versed in their craft. From a price standpoint, Sol Pacific was extremely competitive with the three other pool contractors that reviewed my project. I was not surprised by any "hidden costs," but when I did have a couple of minor changes Marcus incorporated such changes easily and informed me of any additional costs that applied. As for the 2-3 of poor reviews identifying early morning start times -- that is partially the responsibility of the homeowner to communicate the early start times with family and neighbors. Marcus nearly always told me the times his crews would show up, and when he didn't I asked. My family knew would arrive and so did my neighbors ... it was a non issue. I've recommended Sol Pacific several times based on my experience with them. It's been a couple of months since they've completed my pool and I continue to be extremely happy with the end result.
