I am going to the trouble of writing this because I was so impressed with this pool company. I interviewed a lot of companies and private contractor guys. I finally chose Capstone to do a complete resurface and tile job as well as new plumbing and pump and heater. I am glad I did. While interviewing companies, my wife and I went to the tile store all pool companies use here in San Diego to pick out the new tile we were going to use, and that was my first clue these guys were the ones. The lady at NPT Tile said Capstone really has an organized company. So, I took a harder look at them and finally after talking to many companies pulled the trigger to work with them. Each one of their teams headed by a separate foreman were all great to work with as they came in to do first, demo on pool plaster and tile, then plumbing and electrical, then tile team did great job with tiling pool and spa, then plaster team, then they contract with another pool water service company to balance and clean the new plaster in the newly filled pool. When they are done in my case, I needed new mastic done around pool edge and they finished doing that. Each foreman of every team was great to work with. I want to point out Frankie, the plumber and Electrician, and his assistant. They were great and came up with some creative ideas to fix a complicated issue I had even though it meant a little extra work. Everything the company said they were going to do when they said it would happen they did. Amanda or Aubrey would call to explain a delay of a day or so because of weather. I felt they were on it the whole time. I have since learned that they are a family run business and I think that's why it feels so organized and smooth an operation. It is hard to find the right company when building or fixing your pool. It is a lot of money and big disruption, so for those of us that do our research before hiring, let me save you some trouble and recommend Capstone. BUYER BEWARE - We were initially happy with how our pool turned out, but the experience with Capstone was a complete disaster. Their contractors repeatedly poured grout and concrete down our cleanout and city sewer line--despite us explicitly telling them NOT to do so. This negligence caused massive damage, requiring our entire street to be ripped up and city lines to be redone. During the project (which took a year), we had to repair our line from our house to the street twice while Capstone was working. After the first repair, we caught them on camera continuing to pour waste into the cleanout the same week! As a result, we were left without water for a week and couldn't live in our own home. To make matters worse, Capstone completely ghosted us when we needed help. The owner showed up once, blamed us for the issue, and never followed up. No offer of assistance, no responsibility taken--just silence. If you care about your home, your sanity, and your wallet, DO NOT hire Capstone. Their disregard for customers and complete lack of accountability is beyond unacceptable. read more

My pool suffered fifteen cracks after the pool had been empty for a year. Long story that I won't bore you with. I called three companies for estimates. it was clear that Capstone was heads and tails above the others. There was no hard sale, the giant crack didn't seem to phase them, and they took the time to explain the process and timeframe. We scheduled the demo and to my surprise, they were able to actually start weeks earlier. They texted each day to let me know when they would arrive and the work they would accomplish. The supervisor made a point to meet with me and introduce me to the crew. He visited almost daily to check on the progress and came by after the crew left to plan for the next day. The office staff were amazing. They called to inform me of timing, planning, and walk me through decisions that had to be made. They communicated with me via phone, text, and email, so that no matter my schedule, we were able to keep progress moving forward. The crew were spectacular. They took care to cover my new concrete while they worked. When my skimmer needed replacing, the cut out some of the new concrete, then repoured it, matched the color, and recreated the decorative lines. Each day the cleaned up and left no trace that they were even there. Capstone installed a new Baja shelf and removed a wall between the pool and adjoining/non functioning spa. Now I have a larger swim area and use of the seating area. Family and friends can now swim into what use to be the spa, have a seat while still being in the water, and relax. My pool, which was an overwhelming project for me, was made easy and stress free. All work was completed as described and earlier than expected. I truly could not be happier. Thank you Capstone! I started with an old pool with plaster finish, broken electrical lines, and some non-functional plumbing lines. They were able to fix everything. On a project with a bunch of unknown variables, Capstone was easy to work with. They were reasonable with price on the additional work that needed to be done (new plumbing lines cut into the concrete, new pool light, etc). We were told the project would take 4-5 weeks, but they were finished in 3! They have different crews for the different phases, and their skills and expertise show. I had capstone refinish my pool five years ago. At the time, Russ owned the company. He was a descent guy. When they did the color wrong, Russ made them fix it. A year in I had a leak. It was under warranty and they sent someone to fix it. It was around the skimmer and they shot in foam to stop the leak. A couple years later. Same problem but getting worse. It's structural and of course now out of warranty. The new owner has blown me off for a week and now says he'll give me 1000 off on the 4500 needed to fix it. I would recommend not ever hiring Capstone. It's been nothing but issues and they don't take responsibility for their work. read more

Recommendations from our Pool Chemical service team, recommendations from a couple of the companies I had working on pool equipment, as well as the successful outcome of three quotes. No doubt about it, Capstone pool is the best there is. We had our very first estimate with Russ, and we liked him immediately. He knew that we were still in the research phase of a pool remodel, yet treated us with the utmost courtesy. He took his time, answered questions, measured meticulously, and provided insights that only someone with years and years of experience could do. Every single contractor and business we met with afterward (and there were at least 4 or 5) was compared to Russ, and he blew them all out of the water in every single way. Nice people, and they made an effort to correct several problems, including cracks in concrete and mastic that would not stick to the flagstone. Sadly, the mastic never got done properly (or with the proper material) so now it's all coming apart, the concrete deck is lifting away from the pool because water got in the cracks and is swelling the soil under it. A drain channel was poorly installed, so it flows in the wrong direction. I had to install a sump pump and basin to pump the rain and runoff water away from the house. read more
