Had a couple pool/spa issues. My dedicated vac line wasn't sucking as it should. I attempted a few tries doing this n that. Joe recommended high pressure air from a CO2 bottle, he had one, problem solved, a wad of leaves. Issue 2, spa booster pump wouldn't start, we tried a new start capacitor, boom!, problem solved. Wanted to trust this place but after an inappropriate remark, we will not be back. My Mom and I went in because we were having an issue with cloudy water in an above ground pool. Joe tested our water with the strips and told us our levels were unsafe and not to swim in it. He sold my mom some powders and told us to come back the next day to test our water again. We came back the next day and it was a different gentleman. He tested our water in a machine, took a picture of it with my phone so we would have record of the numbers and gave us more advice and told us to bring another sample tomorrow. Once again we came back with a water sample and he tested it in the machine again. He told us that the water needed liquid chlorine, but since we had been such troopers, he gave us a gallon of chlorine for free. We asked when it would be safe to go swimming again and he told us within two hours of pouring the chlorine but we could go now "If we wanted the carpet to match the drapes". I was appalled and had to explain to my mom what that meant when we got in the car. I told her we would NOT be going back. We took our water sample the next day to a different pool supply place which tested our water and we showed them the pictures of the machine at Sun Pool and Spa and he noticed that their machine wasn't working correctly because it had a orange triangle at the top in the picture. We had to drain the pool and we are starting over fresh. Women, beware.... read more

Joe presented as very knowledgeable and took care of our pool for a year or so. Because the rains were so heavy last year, they ended up letting our pool get away from them. He goes to the pool and spa convention every Spring, right when he should be concentrating his efforts on getting his customers pools ready for swim season. When he came back from the convention, he took another vacation. At that point my pool was a green fuzzy mess. After several visits by the actual pool technician (who is a very nice person), two filer cleans later ($600) he sent me a very nasty text about my pool being a nightmare. He quit during peak pool season. No fore-warning, no hint he was even frustrated. It proved impossible to find another pool company, he left us in a very bad way. The whole situation was unprofessional and to add insult to injury the text he sent to me was mind boggling! He delineated what equipment and what chemicals I would need to purchase to do his job. After days of troubleshooting a problem, 2 Minutes of advise from Sun Pool and Spa Supply fixed my problem in under 5 minutes with DIY tools at home. Joe is amazing at what he does. I have only been living with my pool for a month and have probably made 20 trips so far. Always helpful, always professional. I bought a skimmer basket with a vacuum connection and the owner was super helpful and friendly. I also got some good advice about pool covers and ways to extend my swim season. When I got home the part didn't fit (Sloppy concrete from whoever did my pool). When I brought it back to make a return, the employee told me only the owner could process returns which I found a bit unusual. I was instructed to call the owner and he offered to install the basket for me, which required a slight chipping away of excess concrete under the lid. Overall, I was satisfied with the service and it was above and beyond to come out to my pool and ensure a good fit. read more

My pool turned brown after a recent heavy storm that let a mudslide enter the pool. For weeks I wrestled with draining, acid washing, refilling and each time I added chlorine the pool turned rusty brown and stained everything. After weeks of failing, I found Joe. I call him the pool whisperer. It turns out the iron on the water was reacting with chlorine. To boot, my pool was leaking water from a valve. So after weeks of working with companies to fix, Joe with his infinite wisdom helped me buy the right chemicals, walked me though each day what chemicals to add, how to add them. and finally made my water clear. It took some work and Joe was there every step of the way. He did this FOR FREE. He communicated with me multiple times per day over phone calls and text and answered my endless questions. My below ground pool has been out of commission for a couple months due to my pool service guy telling me the pump and or pump motor is malfunctioning. I ordered and replaced the pump motor. Didn't fix it. He then said the pump volute (housing) is probably expanded and needs replaced. Ordered one, which I didn't replace and am sending back. I decided to go into Sun Pool & Spa Supply and I talked to the owner Joe. He was amazingly helpful and courteous. He suggested I replace the o-rings and seals in the valve going to pump. He had just sold his last one before I arrived so he called around to his competitors and found one for me. Most businesses would have asked for my info and called when it arrived in stock. But they went the extra mile to make a happy customer! And that's what ended up fixing my issue! Not the couple hundred my pool service recommended but a less than $5 part. We retained them for weekly pool service yet they showed up only once in a month. This, despite that we called multiple times and were assured they would be "out there tomorrow." When I called to cancel the service, the owner tried to argue with me. I told him I wasn't interested in arguing so he said, tersely, "fine...I will send you a bill" and hung up on me. Worst customer service I have ever received. I was referred to them by Pentair for a warranty issue. They were obviously not happy when they found that I had ordered my part online rather than going to a physical pool store. They said they could not perform the warranty repair then proceeded to tell Pentair that I asked them to lie to Pentair about the repair and that I had tried to repair the valve myself with non-factory parts, neither of which was true. He took the time to listen and at no charge, gave me advice that I needed to resolve an issue with our pool, one that has stressed me out for over weeks now. Arrived too late (4:45 PM) to finish the job before dark/end of shift. Said he'd come back Monday 9 AM to service the equipment. Called at 8:30 AM to reschedule for 7 AM Tuesday. Now, while they have everything you need, they will also be honest with you and direct you on what to do, even if that means you will not buy anything.
