I've already moved on, but I really appreciated how their customer support has changed since I was using them last, and I'm updating my rating accordingly. Initial Review: I hired them for pool service. They started out as a 4 or 5 star, but they turned a corner after about 6 months (and after they had sold me all the equipment I was willing to buy). Suddenly, and with no explanation, I started getting pool reports from La Jolla Pool Service instead of McKinney's. That was weird, but I was busy and didn't do anything right away. Then I had a question about the pool, so I went out to talk to the guy when he came - it wasn't the same guy as usual. In fact, it was a new company! They apparently sold my account to another provider. They eventually notified me after the fact. So here I had done all this research to pick a pool cleaner and finally settled on McKinney's and 6 months later I'm stuck with someone I didn't pick who ended up being a real problem. Also they sold me a leaf catcher for my pool cleaner when there already was one, so that was annoying.

After receiving 4 bids for pool & spa resurfacing & renovations, we chose Capstone. We resurfaced, re-tiled, reset the coping, split the drains, changed out the lights in both the pool & spa, & shallowed the deep end from 9ft to 5 1/2 ft, & created a longer bench in the deeper end of the pool. For the resurfacing we used Tropics Blue Mini Pebble, recommended by Shelby, our amazing Project Coordinator, & we love it! It actually looks a little different throughout the day depending on the amount of sunlight. The entire Capstone team is impressive! They make you feel like you are their only client. Travis came out to give us our estimate & was great at suggestions to help us reach our vision & stay within budget. Aubrey & Shelby were incredible at communication regarding scheduling, responding to the many questions we had about the details, & when any issues arose, communicating to the team. Cameron always made time to stop by for finishing touches & made sure we were happy. Issues are similar to other complaints I have…read moreread on here. 1 - Surface is inconsistent and rough. 2 - No guidance on what to do when the pool was finished. Created additional issues with the finish that aren't reasonably fixable. 3 - They poked fun at the existing spa control location, half under water. Said they would resolve that so it would be above water, then apparently forgot and installed it in the same spot. It shorts, blows the breaker, so is unusable. They said they would come out and fix it each time it has an issue and did so once. Now they don't respond. 4 - Spa light doesn't work, not sealed properly. About $25k for a pretty second rate job. I guess it was during Covid and these pool companies were swamped, but they don't even bother responding to requests to fix the spa controls and have nothing to say about the finish issues. It's bad enough work that whenever we sell the house, it will certainly count against the value of the home.

The icing on the cake was when my pool turned green after runoff from a big rainstorm flowed into it, he was straight out the next day to get it crystal clear again - no questions asked. The pool is always in great shape, and Justin also checks and tweaks the equipment settings to keep everything running smoothly. He has headsets but only drives listening with one ear, the other reserved for safety, nice. Nextly, proessional, organized and conduct becoming. Lastly and greatest ovservation... he parks right drives slowly and pays attention tk detail. 5 stars to me as I did say to him your in my neighborhood.
