Recently not so good as they I believe were understaffed. This time the 2 guys seemed to work well together to assist quite a few customers. I was in for a water test and unless someone develops an automatic testing machine - you might have to wait 10-20 minutes. I'm sure the guy could tell I'm familiar with the test readings as I was just verifying my results from my Taylor DPD test kit I have at home. What I found out I need to replace my chemicals as my TA tests were way off. Good thing for test strips! All is good and I never leave without spending more money as I do appreciate the free water tests. read more

Absolutely rude service. I was waiting for 30 minutes patiently and he totally skipped me to help this man out who walked into the door. I was clearly right in front of him at the register. When I asked him why he was refusing to help me as if I was invisible, his actual response was, "that's just how things go sometimes." That is when I realized this tall skinny white male with ice snowy white hair is possible a prejudice piece of shit or even a racist. I went to the other Leslie's in La mesa originally and then decided to try this one and the younger gentlemen reran my test bur checked the box I had originally went in for which was cloudiness, and it changed the reading and the supplies he gave me to fix this worked. A month or so later I had another cloudiness issue and went to the la mesa one again and explain please check cloudiness, I get in the car after I bought a few supplies and got home tried everything out didn't worm and was extremely frustrated so I looked at paperwork she never checked the box for cloudiness just went into the santee store he checked the right box and retest a new batch of water and even more things were out of range after buying his suggested supplies it literally cleared up the cloudiness in less than 30 mins. Unreal. But I am happy with the santee Leslie's and will now just go there instead even though it's a few more minutes out of the way. Thank you guys! read more

Brought in my pool vac because it was not working right. Think it was Mike who helped me out. He called and said it was debris causing the trouble. He took it apart cleaned it up. No charge for his work , he said they only charge for parts! We will be buying our pool and spa equipment from them from now on. Thank you for great service. read more

Not trying to negative about this feedback but I'm seriously frustrated with this store and the store manager Jim in particular. Whenever he tests my water it's odd that there is always something wrong and always products that "I need to buy." Not only is that frustrating he is extremely difficult to understand and communicate with. He speaks very fast while mumbling under his breath and CANNOT answer a question directly. Example: Me: My FAC is low what should I add to raise this? Jim: Yea, FAC should be between 1-4ppm (smiles) Me: (pause) ok so what do you recommend to raise it? Jim: Yea you're sitting at a .5 and that's low (smile) Me: I understand that my question is what product do you recommend? If you see him testing the water the best thing is just leave and wait for someone else. read more

Went in on 4th of July. Told Carlene our pool was getting green and we needed to get in front of it. Carlene walked me through the process and I got everything she recommended. My pool is now beautiful. Came the next day to get our Hayward serviced and a new O ring for our filter. Jim did not know what he was talking about and he, apparently, had been there for a long time. Left frustrated. Love Carlene. Dislike Jim. He can't hear and doesn't pay attention. I won't deal with him again. If you go here, speak with Carlene. She knows her stuff!!!! read more

Besides the horrific customer service, I priced a barracuda Duralife diaphragm for my pool cleaner. Without batting an eyelash, I was told, " That will be $63.00 plus tax". I left the store and ordered the same one on Amazon for $18.00 and free shipping. Got it today. By the way, don't ask for a military disabled veteran discount unless you want to get the "Leslie Clerk Stink-eye" and maybe 5% off. Unless you really want to be oversold and be treated like you are stupid, Save the trip. Maybe the ever-present Chlorine chemical vapors have adversely affected the employees. read more

Sabrina helped my husband and me with products we needed for our spa and our pool. She had a great personality, and did not try to upscale us. This made us trust her even more and as a result, we ended up purchasing about $600 in product. The first time I went to that location about a year ago, I had horrible service from an older male, so I was skeptical about going to that location. This business is the worst. I am a new home owner/pool owner. Got my water tested and they sold me all kinds of crap to get to where they said it should be that I now know I didn't need. Also my pool wasn't holding chlorine so I went in and asked what I should do... They ended up selling me conditioner and told me to add the whole bag. after adding HALF the bag my pool still wouldn't hold chlorine and now my cya levels were 130!!! A guy named Jim told me the lady should of never sold me the bag of conditioner and ended up selling me a bag of Bio-Active cya reduced that cost $50 and did absolutely nothing. I ended up having to partially drain and refill my pool. After tons of research I found the BBB method... Bleach (same thing as chlorine and you can buy 3 gallons at Costco for $10 and it has 8% sodium hydrochloride as opposed to Leslie's 10% sodium hydrochloride that costs $15+ for 2 gallons), borax (to raise PH) and baking soda to raise total alkalinity. Everything else is just junk. Get your self a good test kit and just use those 3 things. Also I went in to purchase a three way valve and they wanted $110 for it at Leslie's... Amazon had the exact same valve for $40. NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS STORE! RIP OFF CENTRAL. I'd give this place no stars if I could. read more

The Asst. Manager lady is a liabilty for this company. When I got there she was in front of the door smoking. That's fine by me except I had to wait for her finish her cigarette a few minutes. I chose to be civil and stayed outside for a quit chit chat so she does not feel rushed :). I was there to shop for a pool vacuum. She pointed out a "Hayvard pool critter" vacuum. It was a bit pricy ($194) so I asked if there is a sale. She was good on this point and offered a coupon she had a for a $30 off. So I will be fair and give her credit for a sale well done. However after I went home I wanted to check the reviews on this product so I looked up on Amazon.com. The product is ok with 4 stars....and way cheaper, priced at $124.99. I have Amazon prime so I would not pay shipping. Hmmm I said, I should return this and buy it from Amazon. So I called the Leslie's and she (Jodie) picked up the phone. I reminded her myself and told her the story. I also told her that I just purchased the product an hour ago and the box is completely sealed in its original condition unopened . She told me that I should come back tomorrow and ask Jim the "Manager" as there would be a restocking charge of 15%. I was disappointed but I said "ok" and hung up. After all I don't like to hold this against an employee if she is stating the company policy. After a few minutes I found my receipt and started reading the "return policy" on the back. It clearly states that there is a 14 day full refund for items that are unopened and unused and purchased at the store. 15% restocking fee is ONLY for products that are special order or if they are used. My purchase was in its original sealed packaging and she knew that. I called the store again. She picked up the phone again I explained her what is written on their return policy. And told her that I was disappointed about the run around she was giving me. I said I am coming back now to return this product and she must take the return and issue a full refund. She replied in a yelling tone "ok then !! Bring it back. I got in my truck and got there exactly at 6pm...it's the store closing time :) She was locking the doors while I was parking right in front of the door. She clearly saw me at that point but did not care (as if this is a government office or the DMV). I got out of the truck and came to the door just in case...and hollered "hey I just called you." She did not care...she made a "we are closed gesture." I hollered "you can read this on Yelp tonight". Some uniformed guy was standing in front of the store mumbling things to me while this was happening. I asked him "what" he is. He replied "I am a security guard". That was kind of a strange experience as well. I am a paying customer and a security guard is playing the "intimidation game". As a business owner myself and a regular customer of Leslie's I felt violated this evening. read more

Not once did I, nor anyone else waiting, get a 'Sorry for the wait, I'll be with you as soon as I can' from the employee. Also they are completely overpriced and not that knowledgeable. Horrific customer service. Upon purchasing 2k worth of supplies and equipment we were handed the telephone (at the counter) and asked to WAIT on hold to schedule the installation of the pool cover we just paid for. It was bad. I was ready to get refund but we had guests coming and needed the supplies and cover by that weekend. It gets worse. The install guy comes with wrong size cover and tells us we need to CALL the store and drive there ourselves to pick up correct size. After assuring them we wanted refund they stepped up and made it happen the next day. But I will NEVER go back NOT for any reason ever! read more

What horrendous service!!! The Manager Jim is extremely rude, condescending and obviously not there to provide an even mediocre level of service. Service I'd expect from a first week high school kid, not an employee that's been with the company for over 20 years. This must show the values and expectation of standards by the company. Why else would you have such a rude and unhelpful person running a location after 20 years of showing character. I went in to the Santee location once in the morning when I was rudely greeted and was obvious he was too busy to help with an empty store. Then when returning later in the day for some chemicals to correct my problem, I was addressed extremely rudely again and said he would not do a water test because he had already done one that day. You could barely even understand what the guy was saying. Even though I had made major water adjustments and needed some other chemicals to finalize adjustments. He said he'd only print my previous water report. He wouldn't do another because I already had one that day. I told him the water had been adjusted, he leaned over the counter and asked "Did you have your water tested today or not!". Wow. Not a way to build sales as I won't be back to this location even though I'm a mile away. I'd rather go to a location or company that treats customers with respect and I suggest you do too!!! I would bother to post this except the only other review is 1 star and my experience with these guys was the exact opposite. I was having my pool re-plastered and the contractor said my pool lights are obsolete and you cannot get gaskets for them anymore, badda-bing that'll be an extra $1000, wrong! I couldn't find the gaskets in a day of searching online, so I called around locally as a last resort and finally the guy at Leslie's knew exactly which light i had and cross reference it to another gasket, which he had 2 of in stock and i picketed them up after work and had them in the lights the next day before the contractor was ready to plaster. These guys are good and know how to solve problems! read more

Leslies stores apparently cannot go to distributors outside of who they deal with. They told me a part was no longer available and what they tried to seel would work. It did not and basically inferred I did not know what I was doing. I went to Crystal Pool in El Cajon and they had it on the shelf and had my filter up and running in no time. I will no longer use Leslies because of they seemed to more want to sell me a new filter rather than assist me finding the part I needed. Pool was done 2 weeks waiting on Leslies and at Crystal they had thepart and I was back up and running in no time. Good by Leslies and hello Crystal Pool and Spa in El Cajon. read more

This store is a joke. I went in trying to purchase some supplies to keep my 12' pool in shape. He tried to get me to purchase $300 worth of crap I don't need. I asked many questions only to be have them all spun around with big words and fancy formulas. Help your customers get what they need but gouging is a reason for never coming back.
