Service was great and the menu always has something fun! The inside was bright and had spacious seating.

This is our favorite breakfast spot in Baltimore! Seating is limited, so if you go at a busy (weekend morning) time you will wait. Gently open the door, walk to the front counter, add your name to the list. We usually go at an off-time (mid-morning during the week) and we often get right in. The staff is always friendly and helpful and the coffee is delicious. My husband likes their sweet options (his favorite is the Shut the Fluff Up French Toast) and I like the savory (Animal Style Hash is my go-to) and then we trade a few bites. I love the funky art work, and they always offer a cup of coffee to go.

Popular local spot with large portions of very decadent food options The place is first-come-first-serve (they do not take reservations), and you have to stand outside while you wait for a table (they don't write down phone numbers and there is no seating area). This said, I came here on a Saturday morning with my fiancé and the wait was only 10-15 min (which was worth it for the food) Have a few indoor tables, a small bar-counter, and 2 outdoor tables as well. We were seated at the outdoor tables even though we didn't specify that we wanted to sit outside. We decided to take this rather than wait longer for indoor tables (which also looked somewhat cramped). The sidewalk outside is kind of tilted though, and there are a bunch of people waiting for tables outside, so it is a bit of a strange vibe. This all being said, the service was incredibly fast. Our orders were taken right away, the food came out pretty quick, and we were brought our check (which is payable via phone) as soon as we finished eating. You can tell that they run a really tight ship/well executed operation. For food, this place is known for their "Captain Crunch French Toast" and "Sweet Baby Jesus" loaded tots, which have both been featured on the Food Network 3X, but the rest of their menu is also pretty fun and creative. My fiance and I each got an iced coffee, the French toast, and breakfast tacos and we really enjoyed everything. The portions we so big that we had to take the majority of the breakfast tacos home as well.

My friend suggested going here. When we arrived they said it was a 45 minute wait but they got us seated in about 25 minutes. They were turning tables over pretty quick. It is a very small restaurant but it works. I will be honest everything that I saw come out looked amazing. I order a chorizo with ham, pineapple, jalapeño and cheese quesadilla. Hear me out when I say it was delicious. The sweet balanced that heat. If you not a heat lover, please don't order. The hash was perfectly crispy on the outside but perfect baked potato vibe in the middle. Two snaps for that . I ordered the cinnamon crunch French toast as well and it was very good but not crispy enough for me. I like mine very crispy. It was good but would have been great cooked a little longer. (Personal preference tho). The server was very nice and made great recommendations for my friend's food. I would definitely visit here again.

i came here with a friend early on a monday morning and we were seated immediately. i have tried to come here on the weekends in the past, but the space is quite small and they are very popular. i recommend weekday visits if possible. i ordered the captain crunch french toast and a sin roll (at 9:30 we got one of the last ones, so they go fast). the captain crunch french toast was good but didn't blow me away like i was expecting it to. it just kind of tasted like french toast sticks. the sliced fruit was really nice though! i tried my friends hash brown which was cooked perfectly. i took the sin roll to go and had it the next day. the dough tasted like biscuit dough, so the roll itself wasn't very sweet. the frosting was VERY sweet, so it was important to balance that out. it was definitely enjoyable, but i prefer cream cheese frosting on cinnamon rolls. the highlight of my experience at blue moon was the service. our server (i believe her name was nicky? this was a while ago so not totally sure) was really personable and offered plenty of recommendations. she was joking around with us a lot as well. very pleasant experience with the staff. i will attempt to come back to try more things when im in the area but they are always so busy on weekends!

Our family enjoyed a pleasant experience at Blue Moon Cafe. Upon stepping inside we felt warmly welcomed by the staff and were informed of the freshly-baked cinnamon rolls and the infamous Cap'n Crunch French Toast and Sweet Baby Jesus hash browns. We tried a combination of items from turkey sausage to chocolate chip pancakes to French toast to Full Moon Breakfast. Each item was ample and delicious - we all left stuffed and satisfied. My choice was the Churro French toast; cinnamon-topped whipped cream, crispy/caramelized top and edges with fresh fruit on top was beautifully made. They fully deserve another feature on the Food Network! The restaurant is first-come, first-served so be prepared for a brief wait. Blue Moon Cafe is a definite must-try again.

I visited the Blue Moon Cafe the first morning I spent in Fells Point and it was absolutely fantastic! I ordered 2 scrambled eggs, French toast, turkey sausages and an extra side of hash browns and it was amazing. The hash browns were to die for! I would absolutely come back next time I'm in the area. I highly recommend this place. If you come early enough there's no wait so I suggest coming before 9am.

Blue Moon Cafe was recommended to us by my sister while our family was in town for a graduation celebration, and it ended up being a great brunch spot. The restaurant itself is small and cozy, so we had about a 30 minute wait, but it was worth it. We ordered the G&G Country Scramble, Sweet Baby Jesus, Cap'n Crunch French Toast, and the spicy crab, tomato, and pepper jack dish. The menu definitely has a Southern-style Maryland feel with things like crab, biscuits and gravy, and grits throughout. Portions are huge, and the food was rich, comforting, and very filling. We absolutely needed a nap afterward. The Cap'n Crunch French Toast was perfect to share for the table. I recommend eating it first while it is still crispy on the outside. Our table favorite was the G&G Country Scramble, followed closely by the Sweet Baby Jesus. I also tried the homemade lemonade and it was delicious. Service was great and the whole place had a warm, family-style atmosphere. One helpful thing to note, a 20% gratuity is automatically included on bills over $50, and they do not split checks. There were signs posted, but mentioning it here in case it helps others planning to visit.

I see why this place has such a long line on the weekends! We initially came here on a Saturday for brunch but the wait time was ~1h so we didn't stay. Tried again for Friday late lunch and got seated immediately. Limited indoor seating in a small cozy space and even less outdoor seating. Friendly, standard service. We got the Captain Crunch French Toast and Chorizo & Eggs (comes with hashbrown, tortilla, salsa), which were both delicious and some of the best brunch food I've had in Baltimore. Hope to be back!

I have been hearing about this place for years and was so excited to finally experience it. It didn't disappoint. I had the captain crunch French toast and it was heavenly. Probably the best French toast I've ever eaten. Seating is limited but we got there early so thankfully we didn't have to wait to be seated. The staff were very friendly and the food came out quickly. The outside and inside was really pretty. I would love to go back.

My first time at the original. Just as great as the location in Federal Hill....maybe even better. Smaller location, but if you get there early, you can sit right down. The service here is excellent. I can't remember her name offhand now, but she was witty, knowledgeable, and attentive. The food? Like I said about their other location, no matter what else you get, getting a homemade cinnamon roll is a must.

Their space is smaller, but you don't need a lot of room to make great food! The pictures I've seen don't really do the menu justice. Great food from top to bottom! Everything was delicious, especially the Churro French toast! We were going to get some fresh baked cinnamon rolls, but the table beside us snagged the last few. Get them if you can! Our waitress held the restaurant down! She was the life of the morning! Because it's smaller inside, there was quite a wait, but they run like a well oiled machine getting parties in and out! They're definitely worth a visit!

Simple Breakfast, Silver Dollar Pancakes, and Texas toast
Tia J.

I had a great experience at Blue Moon Café! I ordered a simple breakfast, and everything was absolutely delicious. The silver dollar pancakes were especially amazing--definitely a highlight of the meal. The portion sizes are very generous. They give you more than enough food--I didn't even get a chance to touch the Texas toast because I was already full. Honestly, one meal could easily be shared between two people. Overall, a delicious experience and I'll definitely be back!

We initially came across as they participate with the inkind app. To round out our experience, a huge shoutout to Cassidy!! She was an amazing waitress and so friendly! She also made the recommendation to go with the green beans which surprisingly took us by surprise!! The overall food selection was great, and we thoroughly enjoyed all the items we ordered. Starting with the drink, we got the rosemary Szechuan and the cocktail was super balanced and tasted great! The Baltimore coddie was pretty spot on with the homemade ones I have had! The heirloom tomato and caviar sandwich was delicious . However, I do think the caviar just gets lost so it could taste just as good without. The crabonara, I highly recommend!! Like being in a cool aunt's living room. We got some truffle fries to share and got the little cup of beets for an app. The fries were delicious but sometimes I wonder if too much truffles is a thing... I got the Korean tacos with the confit duck. I'll be honest I wasn't a huge fan of it. It was dry thin/crepe like, and greasy as shells go, and hard to pick up and eat it like a taco. The rest of the table also got tacos and I have to say I enjoyed my bf's veggie taco more when I sampled it. The dessert was a play on banana split with using a fried plantain instead of a banana. It was nice but I am not sure I got the satisfaction I was craving and would have gotten from a regular banana split. This was gonna be a three star for me but in the end the service bumped it to a 4 star. I bit into a very seeded slice of jalapeño and was seeing stars- steam was blowing out of my ears probably (comically so). Our server was just going by and saw my sorry state and immediately asked if I wanted a glass of milk. She could not have been kinder or faster with bringing that over and man that saved me. Thankful for her quick thinking.

The drink menu did not tickle my fancy so I ended up just having water. The restaurant week menu was a good selection of their regular menu items so it was an opportunity to try something that I could get again. I opted for the tuna as an appetizer, the whole branzino as my entree, and the zalabia for dessert. Everything was delicious! I would have liked the tuna to be more chilled; it came out closer to room temp. I have no notes for the bronzino. It was perfectly cooked, I really love the time and orange, the olive tapenade was the right amount of salty and briny, and the accompanying roasted harissa potatoes were fantastic. I guess if I had any critique it would be of the too skinny and woody asparagus. The dessert was something I'd never heard of, something like Mediterranean donuts. I really love the pistachios and the I think pomegranate sauce (it wasn't described on the menu so Im guessing), but the addition of chocolate was completely unnecessary and I'm not just saying that because I don't like chocolate lol. After dinner me and my dining companion went upstairs to the speakeasy for a cocktail. I was hoping they had a different drink menu and they did! This menu was much more interesting to me and I ended up getting a a well-balanced gin cocktail. I just read that they are closing to relocate so I'm hoping that I'll be able to go again soon.

And this led to me discovering just how much of a certifiable beer haven Max's is! For a Philly comparison I'd put Max's on the same caliber as Glory Beer Bar and Kitchen but with a beer bible on the same scale as Monk's. It's been a beer haven for going on four decades and it shows with their 100+ rotating taps, 1000+ bottles & cans, a 4 casks that feature plenty of local Baltimore brews alongside the finest from Belgium, Germany, and then some! They even have seasonal special events like a Sour Beer Fest in June, and a Rare & Obscure Beer Weekend in October. The bar interior was classic wood, with a huge main bar that showcased the many brew and spirit options. The bartenders were also spot on with their service and spot on beer suggestions. For food being so close to the waterfront had me craving some seafood, and the rockfish sandwich delivered with its Chesapeake seasoning and remoulade dressing. Each day of the week has a beer special at Max's, and Thursday meant that I was enjoying a discount on full pint cask pours. I liked that Max's had transparent pricing available for 4 oz to large pours and growlers to go on their menu for each and every draft beer, and the 4 oz pours made it easier to enjoy the 11% abv barleywine beer from a Baltimore brewery that I was curious about without feeling some extra inebriated repercussions during my ghost tour. It was extra details like that which had me really enjoying Max's and dubbing it a must visit for any beer lover visiting Baltimore.

And numerous other people were doing the same thing. How hard is it to make a sign and/or update your website/menu? On top of that, even if you have a table, you still have to go up to the bar to order. When the place is busy, it's a complete shitshow. You're fighting through a crowd just to get a drink while your table sits empty. Whoever came up with this ordering system clearly doesn't care about being easy to do business with. Terrible setup, and the male bartender Roberts's attitude made it even worse. Our group consisted of two bank CEO's, a law enforcement officer and a senior executive in investment banking.
