Pinot Noir and Blue Lacy
Shinta S.

We were looking for a casual and quick place to dine on a Friday night. Blue Lacy looked to be this place. That Friday, the place was empty, only 2 tables occupied. We were seated and served very quickly. Which is what we wanted. Food wise, it's really meh. I ordered a Blue Lacy cocktail, which immediately reminded me of Windex. And I guess I could not get passed that image. It didn't taste good to me. My turkey BLT was just okay. I am a fries girl, I was excited to try theirs. But the fries was underwhelming. It was really like one reviewer said, they know how to prep dishes from frozen. I supposed we got what we were looking for: casual and quick dinner.

spinach and mushroom omelette

Great Brunch place! I ordered the spinach mushroom omelette. It had the perfect ingredient amount, I was worried that there would be to much spinach but was so happy that it wasn't the case. The hubby enjoyed the pancakes as well. The service was just ok. We also enjoyed the vibe of the place!

Kids eat free, so there's that after a visit to the thinkery; otherwise, I really don't see any need to visit this place. When comparing to a Denny's or an IHOP, I would rank Blue Lacy just a grade below in terms of taste. Restaurant vibes are fine, the menu is just uninspired and the food was very average. Price was okay for the location. Would I Go Out of My Way to Try? No Would I Return? No Food Taste- 4/10 Ambiance - 7/10 Service - 6/10 Value- 6/10

Blue Lacy is part of a hotel called Origins, and though I have never stayed at the hotel, I did have breakfast here a couple of times. They have a breakfast bowl that is really great. You can get it with a few different meat options, including, of course, brisket. It has an avocado sauce, eggs, cheese, and hashbrowns. It's filling! The waffles are good too. They do a chocolate-covered strawberry espresso that is yum times ten. I haven't tried any of the breakfast cocktails, but I'm interested in trying a Bloody Mary next time.

This place was fine... The service was definitely good and they were attentive, but overall the food was just average. They also do not have a lot of variety on their menu. Easy to get in and out of though because they're not super busy when everyone else is.

Fantastic food!!!! Stopped here with kiddos for lunch and everyone was raving about the food!! The vibe is also soooo cute!!!

Coffee - cute mug but wasn't wild about what was inside.

The Good: My omelet was tasty and my hash brown crispy (the way I like them). The space was cute. The Not So Good: The coffee The Ugly: I think they were short staffed but our food didn't appear until we asked for it 45 minutes later. In fairness, they did take a percentage off our check (ergo the 3 stars).

Came from GA to visit and Stopped at this location after visiting Thinkery.. great idea. The restaurant is such a cute vibe. Restrooms look and smell great. There is even a little play area for kids while waiting on food. So we started off our orders with two bloody Mary's one with gin one with vodka, a pineapple mimosa and oj and apple juice. For entrees, we got: waffles, omelette, bacon, eggs and hasbrowns. Everything was absolutely delicious. No complaints.. the staff exhibited great customer service. And very hospitable. Would definitely recommend and return.

REVIEW FOR DOG MENU ONLY: I've been wanting to try Blue Lacy for a while, and the biggest selling point for me was their menu for dogs! I was excited to give it a shot, but after reading several reviews on multiple occasions, I could only muster ordering meals for my fur kids. Our waitress was super friendly & loved on our dogs! We ordered two dog meals (splitting one between our two small dogs and one for our husky), and they were obsessed. The meal had quinoa, rice, peas, carrots, blueberries, and chicken and devoured every last bite. Unfortunately, I was surprised to find the food cold and not fresh!! While I'm not sure how long Blue Lacy will be around, I really appreciated them taking care of our pups! More places in Austin should follow their lead--this is the only spot in Austin I found that serves food to dogs!

Happy hour
Francis C.

This place has happy hour every day. We had $7 margaritas and half off appetizers. The cauliflower bites, fries and mozzarella sticks were very good. The sliders and margs were good too. Service wasn't that great though and we sat outside so I never went inside to see the restaurant. Was great though and will come back!

Breakfast menu

I'd never heard of this place until I discovered it on a stroll around Mueller, and my friend and I decided to give it a try for our weekly Sunday brunch. They serve breakfast all day and the breakfast menu was small, and to my mind pretty run-of-the-mill. It all seemed a bit pricey to me, but I am cheap and still not fully resigned to the fact that even a basic breakfast tends to be $15 these days. I ordered a breakfast bagel. It cost a mere $12, but when my plate arrived, it felt pretty skimpy. It consisted of a plain egg bagel, an egg fried hard (which I dislike, but no one had asked), hashbrowns that were not brown (but they were cooked through and fairly tasty), some smoked Gouda, and two slices of very good bacon. But the kicker, and my friend, and I both laughed about it, was the side of fruit. it was basically a thimble of three blueberries, two small chunks of strawberry, and two very thin slices of pineapple. It seemed ridiculously tiny. My friend was happy with her Breakfast Bowl--perfectly soft-scrambled eggs, more of that good bacon, undercooked hash browns, and a little bit of avocado "crema." The service was friendly but quite slow, even though the place was the opposite of crowded. They validate parking for the nearby McBee parking garage, which was nice. Austin has so many places for brunch. Some of them have very good prices for good food. Some of them have higher prices for exquisite food. Some of them have menu items that are so unusual or so good, you just have to come back. But as my friend and I walked away from Blue Lacey, we agreed that we agreed that although it was pleasant enough, neither of us felt any desire to come back.

Lovely service, scrumptious breakfast, cute decor however they did play the same synth pop song on a loop the entire time we were there which made me feel a little crazy but was a nice experience nonetheless.

Ribeye steak and frites, medium rare, perfectly cooked and lightly battered fries with a side salad
Yunny D.

We had such a good dinner last night at Blue Lacy. I'm so surprised at their low rating. They are not a high end restaurant but their food is good and they have a rotating happy hour that's Mon-Fri 5-7pm. My dirty martini was $7 and we had half off appetizers and our ribeye steak frites was only $18. It was a great deal for decent food and the service was fantastic. I was sad to see that it's not as busy as it should be for the location they're at but there were people we could tell from the hotel and a lot of single people having dinner. It's such a nice place in a great location.

Unfortunately, the kitchen just wasn't on their game this day. We went for brunch and it is a lovely restaurant with some amazing looking pastries. My ratings of the food we got are below. Overall, everything was just okay and not something I would order again. Our order: Salami and cheese - 1/10, not even edible with how much olive oil they dumped on it. Hard cheese and meat. None of us touched it. Frites - 9/10, hard to go wrong here. Nice and crispy French cruller - 7/10, I think this is just personal presence here I wished it was warmed up. Flavor was good but it was a little dry. Burger - 5/10, the flavor is there and definitely has potential but it was so bloody and rare which is not what we asked for. My friend has a gluten allergy and she asked for the burger lettuce wrapped and it just came on top of a huge chunk of iceberg so wouldn't recommend that if you want it lettuce wrapped. Chicken sandwich - 8/10, this was good with a nice crispy chicken. It could have used something sweet to balance the spice though it was a little one dimensional.

Upon entry was greeted by Melissa and sat in her section. The decor is very diner type with low, cozy booths and few tables and chairs. Ample amount of food and def had take away box. Everything was tasty and the buttermilk pancake was amazing with just syrup. Melissa was kind enough to provide little cups to take syrup home along with the tael away container. They had a daily special and a board above the kitchen with other items. I drove by it for 20 years on the way to Avenue Barber Shop. I wanted shredded beef tacos but couldn't get them without cilantro so I chose shredded beef enchiladas (with an $8!) side of chips and salsa. My wife ordered scrambled eggs, bacon and home fries. She requested soft eggs, as she always does because too many places overcook them. The chips and salsa arrived. I was immediately disappointed. The menu said "we make our own chips." They were thick and yellow and appeared to be run-of-the-mill, out-of-a-bag chips. I prefer the thin white ones. I took one bite of salsa, and that was one bite too many. Cumin. I pushed it all aside. Cumin doesn't belong in salsa. (Sorry. I grew up in the Rio Grande Valley.) My enchiladas came with black beans, and there was cumin in them. Cumin is overused and abused in most restaurants. I couldn't eat them. The rice was good but the chipotle sauce on the enchiladas was not. I scraped most of the sauce off and ate one enchilada, mainly because I just needed something in my stomach. We were still 45 miles from home. I pushed my plate away. I also ordered coffee. One sip of that was all I could stand. Too weak for me. It gets worse, much worse. My wife's eggs were barely cooked. She asked the waiter for some cooked eggs. He took her plate and returned about four minutes later. The eggs were still not cooked. She tried another bite but couldn't eat them. Her bacon was tough as a boot and not chewable. The home fries were average, but by the time her plate arrived at our table for the second time, they were cold. I pulled my card out waiting for our excellent server to return. He asked how everything was (he had to notice two plates still covered with food) and we politely told him. I ate one enchilada and some rice. My wife had two bites of egg and two bites of potato. He apologized and handed me the check. $65. Nothing comped and nothing adjusted. A manager should've been summoned. How does a place like this have any customers? It was our first and last visit.

It's a small space, with only around eight tables and a tiny kitchen behind the counter. It's a bit hard to locate from outside. When I got there, four of the eight tables were empty but the dirty dishes had not yet been cleared. It took close to 10 minutes for the tables to be bused. Because the kitchen is so small, I'd recommend going up to the counter to order as soon as you get there.
