Unfortunately, my experience at Blu was disappointing. For the price point, the portion sizes were surprisingly small -- it felt like we were paying more and getting less. What made the visit worse was the service. We were grossly ignored throughout our meal. Our server seemed to disappear for long stretches, making it hard to even get basic requests met. It felt like we were an afterthought rather than valued guests. Overall, you can find better food, bigger portions, and far better service elsewhere -- and likely at a lower price. Dinner for 8 is great! We were greeted with a starting soup with a tomato base seafood flavor which was good to warm up the body. The waiter said this is called jugo bichi which translates to worm juice where the juice has small bits. I tried a shrimp ceviche and fish ceviche (thanks to a fellow friend) where I liked the fish ceviche better. I think the texture of the raw shrimp caught me off guard. But both had diced tomatoes, red onion, cucumber, cilantro, lime and sliced avocado to top it off and fried tostada chip to go with it. Very colorful! My main dish was The President (which I realized I forgot to take a pic) is 2 soft corn tortilla tacos with shrimp, chipotle creme, red pickled onions, chihuahua cheese and cilantro. While it had a little kick to it I loved the flavors. It came with a sauce which was a bit spicy for my no-spicy -very little type of person. Ambience was nice and clean and spacious. We had a great experience here last night! Whitney was our server and she was so patient with us especially cause we did not realize they were closing so soon. We ordered the shrimp ceviche, shrimp tostada, shrimp and carne burrito, octopus risotto, and 2 cocktails. All SO delish although the shrimp ceviche and tostada could've spent more time in the citrus marination cause it was still gray and seemingly raw. Tempura shrimp and calamari was ok, but this tacos my wife and I got were terrible. My Shrimp and Belly taco was non distinguishable from any mystery meat, completely blowing out any of the pickled red onion flavor. Wife got the fish tacos, we are from California so know fish tacos. I've tried several different tacos here and never had one I didn't love. I did try the Unique and didn't love that, but that was mostly because of texture issues. The drinks here are great. The appetizers tasty. The Chilean Sea Bass was a slam dunk on our first visit. The staff here is super friendly. I literally have nothing bad to say about Blu. Our experience at this restaurant was extremely disappointing, largely due to the conduct of the staff member working at the time (Karina B.). From the moment we arrived, she was unfriendly and visibly irritated. The music was blaring to the point that it was uncomfortable. More concerning, we watched her drop our silverware directly on the floor. When she brought it to the table anyway and we asked (politely) for clean silverware, she rolled her eyes and dismissively said, "It was only this one," clearly annoyed that we even asked. After that interaction, she never once checked on us. We eventually had to walk up ourselves just to get our bill. This wasn't just poor customer service...it was a sanitation issue combined with an unprofessional attitude. Either customers should be warned, or management needs to be made aware and address this immediately. Based on this experience, I would not recommend dining here unless changes are made. read more

Our whole family consisting of 6 adults with a couple of toddlers went for our Xmas dinner here. We thought of going here thinking the food would be different from other restaurants. Food was mediocre compared to the amount charged. The sides that came with Sea Bass ($46) was cold and tasteless and same issue with Filet De Halibut ($40). Both were not worth the price charged. We were also told the they were understaffed which explained why the service was atrocious. There was a another review given by someone for the same reason. The restaurant got packed and it seemed the 3 girls as servers were running their tails off. The overall ambiance and appearance of the restaurant seemed to be alright. I am not quite sure if any of our family members will return back here. The owner needs to review the operation of this restaurant and offer good quality service and food. The food was amazing! We started off with the crab cakes. They were breaded with a perfectly crispy crust and very moist and delicious on the inside. The drinks were on point. I had a mescal drink from the refreshing part of the menu and then a michealada. We had the octopus risotto, shrimp and belly tacos and green shrimp aguachiles. First the music was super loud, the waitress had to bend down and basically yell to us. 90% of the menu was shrimp, 6 out of 7 kinds of tacos. Nothing against shrimp, but call it a shrimp place then, not seafood. We ended up sharing 3 appetizers because nothing on the menu sounded appealing for entrees. Tuna crudowas excellent. Fried shrimp and calamari were heavy and greasy. Several fried shrimp still had shells. Overall disappoint and it was not cheap. read more

He was so intentional and attentive and took his time to really talk to us and answer any questions that we had about the menu. My only suggestion might be to get some taller bar stools. They are about 2" too short. Staff was super friendly and appreciated Elmer (bartender and BLU ambassador) telling us the story of BLU. Drinks were excellent. I had a Paloma that took me back to my days in Ixtapa. Our food was nicely presented and flavorful. But as another reviewer mentioned, it's a little underwhelming to receive cafeteria silverware wrapped in a paper napkin to eat with. We came towards closing on a Sunday and there were only 4 tables seated. Service was prompt and water was always filled. Food came quickly and we shared the coastal burger and the unique with all 4 proteins. Coastal burger had large shrimp on top which was a surprisingly good combination with the super melty cheese (don't know what kind of shrewd but wasn't the typical cheddar or American) The Unique came with two tostadas and we ordered all 4 proteins. The sauce was really tasty. We were full after sharing these two entrees. Very delicious and we will be back again. Hope this location serves them well as it isn't very noticeable from the road. Went with my wife. Server was good. Tables are small but fine. We were seated quickly and the server was attentive. Ambiance is noisy--there was live music, which I wasn't expecting, so if you like that, then maybe that's a positive for you. It wasn't for me--just made a loud restaurant even louder. Wife had salmon, I had halibut. Tuna tartare for starter. Starter was okay--not great, but a lot of food and not bad at all. Just average. Wife liked her salmon. I tried hers and the salmon was a little overcooked, but okay. She certainly didn't mind and enjoyed it. She wouldn't eat the grilled (pretty burnt broccoli) but I didn't think it was "that" burnt. The halibut was a different story... the beurre blanc sauce was heavy, heavy salt. It touched everything and ruined the whole meal and I couldn't eat it. No way did they taste that before sending it out--I like beurre blanc sauces and this one was inedible. My wife couldn't eat it either. The server offered to remake / let me choose something else. But the wait was long enough and I just wanted to be done. The server was great. The food wasn't. For the price I certainly expect the restaurant to know how to make a beurre blanc sauce on a regular menu item. read more

We made a reservation for 5:30 although it probably wasn't needed not super busy at that time on a Friday, however shortly after we arrived, it did get pretty busy. The decor is an upscale beach vibe, a pretty decent size bar and I have to say for living in Arizona every place I go to during the summer is either too hot or too cold and it was absolutely perfect! Our waitress greeted us with a delicious fish broth that they use in their soups and I've been craving it ever since it's absolutely delicious! We decided to try the the Salmon En Nogada and it was wonderful. We did however, order a side of brussels sprouts and unfortunately, they really didn't live up to the hype, They were just steamed and the bacon wasn't crispy, they were still good, but I don't think I would order them again. The staff was very attentive and the prices were extremely reasonable. We will definitely visit again. read more

After being seated, it took quite a while for our server to take our drink order, and we felt overlooked. Once we received our drinks, the service remained minimal--we barely saw our server again except when the food and check were delivered. We ordered the surf and turf (steak and lobster) and six buffalo wings. The steak was just okay--thin and more like a skirt steak than the advertised 12oz ribeye. The lobster was bad. It was dry and rubbery, with no warm butter provided to help. The wings lacked texture and arrived soggy tasting like a Pizza Hut wing. Overall, the food quality and service did not match the premium pricing. Based on this experience, we're hesitant to come back. read more
