We came here for our first date night out since having our baby six months ago! Everything about this place made this a great experience: the food, the service, the atmosphere, etc. our server Donta was amazing!! He was so intentional and attentive and took his time to really talk to us and answer any questions that we had about the menu. I had the Chilean sea bass as my entree and split the fish ceviche as an app. Both were incredible ! And I can't wait to try the salmon next time we come. read more

Our whole family consisting of 6 adults with a couple of toddlers went for our Xmas dinner here. We thought of going here thinking the food would be different from other restaurants. Food was mediocre compared to the amount charged. The sides that came with Sea Bass ($46) was cold and tasteless and same issue with Filet De Halibut ($40). Both were not worth the price charged. We were also told the they were understaffed which explained why the service was atrocious. There was a another review given by someone for the same reason. The restaurant got packed and it seemed the 3 girls as servers were running their tails off. The overall ambiance and appearance of the restaurant seemed to be alright. I am not quite sure if any of our family members will return back here. The owner needs to review the operation of this restaurant and offer good quality service and food. Our experience at this restaurant was extremely disappointing, largely due to the conduct of the staff member working at the time (Karina B.). From the moment we arrived, she was unfriendly and visibly irritated. The music was blaring to the point that it was uncomfortable. More concerning, we watched her drop our silverware directly on the floor. When she brought it to the table anyway and we asked (politely) for clean silverware, she rolled her eyes and dismissively said, "It was only this one," clearly annoyed that we even asked. After that interaction, she never once checked on us. We eventually had to walk up ourselves just to get our bill. This wasn't just poor customer service...it was a sanitation issue combined with an unprofessional attitude. Either customers should be warned, or management needs to be made aware and address this immediately. Based on this experience, I would not recommend dining here unless changes are made. read more

Great food, great drinks and lovely decor/layout of the dining area. My husband and I tried multiple things on the menu and all were great (especially the shrimp/calamari). Only lost one star with me since I noticed everyone was receiving little cups of something that our server never gave us. I finally asked what it was, and she told me it was shrimp broth & asked if we wanted one. She brought us one to share (& it was delicious). Server wasn't too friendly and didn't seem to be able to answer our questions very well on the menu. When it was time to pay, she blurted out the total out loud and asked for payment (she pushed right to the payment screen past the check rundown). She stood over my husband as he paid. So happy to have this place in the Verde neighborhood! Had a great Friday experience just a few days after their opening. Love the interior ambiance. Very cool vibe. My only suggestion might be to get some taller bar stools. They are about 2" too short. Staff was super friendly and appreciated Elmer (bartender and BLU ambassador) telling us the story of BLU. Drinks were excellent. I had a Paloma that took me back to my days in Ixtapa. Our food was nicely presented and flavorful. But as another reviewer mentioned, it's a little underwhelming to receive cafeteria silverware wrapped in a paper napkin to eat with. I'm looking forward to spending more time at BLU and wish them all the success. read more

We came towards closing on a Sunday and there were only 4 tables seated. Service was prompt and water was always filled. Food came quickly and we shared the coastal burger and the unique with all 4 proteins. Coastal burger had large shrimp on top which was a surprisingly good combination with the super melty cheese (don't know what kind of shrewd but wasn't the typical cheddar or American) The Unique came with two tostadas and we ordered all 4 proteins. The sauce was really tasty. We were full after sharing these two entrees. Very delicious and we will be back again. Hope this location serves them well as it isn't very noticeable from the road. We would have ordered one or two more rounds of drinks if given the opportunity. The first round took over 25 minutes to arrive after sitting down. We visited Blu for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed our evening. We made a reservation for 5:30 although it probably wasn't needed not super busy at that time on a Friday, however shortly after we arrived, it did get pretty busy. The decor is an upscale beach vibe, a pretty decent size bar and I have to say for living in Arizona every place I go to during the summer is either too hot or too cold and it was absolutely perfect! Our waitress greeted us with a delicious fish broth that they use in their soups and I've been craving it ever since it's absolutely delicious! We decided to try the the Salmon En Nogada and it was wonderful. We did however, order a side of brussels sprouts and unfortunately, they really didn't live up to the hype, They were just steamed and the bacon wasn't crispy, they were still good, but I don't think I would order them again. My fiancée and I visited BLU-Seafood in Gilbert for a date night and unfortunately left disappointed. After being seated, it took quite a while for our server to take our drink order, and we felt overlooked. Once we received our drinks, the service remained minimal--we barely saw our server again except when the food and check were delivered. We ordered the surf and turf (steak and lobster) and six buffalo wings. The steak was just okay--thin and more like a skirt steak than the advertised 12oz ribeye. The lobster was bad. It was dry and rubbery, with no warm butter provided to help. The wings lacked texture and arrived soggy tasting like a Pizza Hut wing. Overall, the food quality and service did not match the premium pricing. Based on this experience, we're hesitant to come back. read more

First time in last night and had the best experience dining at the bar! The ambiance is perfection and we were welcomed with a warm cup of complementary soup! Everyone was so nice and helpful with our menu questions and giving us recommendations. The drinks were SO GOOD! My favorite drink was the pistachio paradise. The crab cakes were large and 4 of them in one order, they were delicious (ignore the older review here of the crab cakes, we were told they've redone the recipe since then). We tried the Blu Tacos and shrimp ajillo pasta, both were amazing and very flavorful (FYI the pasta is spicy and it's amazing - also the shrimps were big and juicy cooked perfectly)! I had high hopes for this restaurant. The menu looked very good and the food at the restaurant next door was very good (although the service was not), so when I booked this for me and my wife's anniversary I felt pretty good. The restaurant if very nice looking. They really put a lot of thought into the space. This made me feel even better about going there. Unfortunately it was downhill from there. Drinks were fine and priced accordingly. Then came the appetizer. We shared a Tuna Tartare. The flavor was ok but the quality of tuna was not great compared to what you would get at other seafood restaurants for the same price. As we just finished our appetizer, and before the server even removed the dishes, our entrees arrived. No chance to get a breath or enjoy our drinks. Things went from not great to worse. I had the Cod al Limon. The fish was ok but a little too salty. The pesto pasta was ok but had almost no salt. The brussels sprouts were awful. They were steamed and had pieces of bacon that looked like it was steamed along with the sprouts. I ate the sprouts because I was hungry but come on, steamed and no flavor or seasoning? My wife got the Mahi Mahi that was supposed to have a mango sauce. The fish was really bland and the sauce was under it and honestly tasted like apple sauce straight from the jar. We didn't complain, we still tipped the server 20% even though there was not even a Happy Anniversary or a thank you for celebrating with us (I double checked that I put that information on my open table reservation). We went straight to a different seafood restaurant just down the street to finish with cocktails and desert and as usual, they were amazing. Sorry Blu Seafood, you need to do better. read more
