Went in because my daughter's new bike frame had threaded holes too big for the screws that came with her new rack. The screw was definitely an odd shape, and I had no idea how big the thread needed to be to fit the bike, but Lynda took to the challenge and searched a long time until she had found several possible options in various sizes that might work. She sent me home without charging me anything and just asked to come me to come back with the parts that I didn't need, and to bring the bike back in case what she gave me didn't work (the ones she gave me did work). I finally stopped going and the only reason I've gone more than once is because it is very close to my house. This store is organized poorly, the help is not friendly, and the owners have bickered at each other every visit. Would not recommend. I was searching for "Woodlife Classic" a paintable, clear water repellant preservative (WPR) for a project. I called around to more than a dozen hardware, paint & big box stores, as well as the manufacturer listed on the Internet as RustOleum. When I finally called Blossom True Value Hardware store, the person answering the phone was very familiar with the product and corrected me: the manufacturer on the can is listed as Zinsser. Unfortunately, I did not get her name... To confuse matters further, Wolman.com appears as the contact web site on the can. Most stores I had called indicated that they only had spray paint RustOelum products. By being in contact with a person who was knowledgeable about the product, I drove many miles to this hardware store, past many paint stores, with the desired result. I stopped in after work to pick up a can of spray paint and had a great experience! They had a surprising number of choices, considering the relatively small size of the store, and the gentleman who helped me was super nice and helpful, even giving me a couple of tips for best spray painting practices. The store seems to have a pretty varied selection of things and it feels very cozy and neighborhood-y, so I'll definitely be back! read more

Great store, great people. I can always find what I need and the staff are always nice and helpful. In particular, I didn't have a receipt for something and I had gotten the wrong size so they let me exchange it for the correct size, I really appreciated that. My only request would be for them to stay open an hour later, I usually am not home from work until at least 7, if not later. read more

It's hard to find hardware stores where people can actually help you. There are very few that I know of in the valley and I'm going to rate all the ones that I know. This one is on El Camino Real near Shoreline/Miramonte. Their next door to Baskin Robbins on one side and the Army Surplus store on the other. Parking is in the back. The people working in the store can actually help you, unlike the people who work in Home Depot, Lowe's, and OSH. read more

I always give Blossom True Value first shot when I need something. 1. Great service. Knowledgable and I never have to search for a clerk. 2. Right around the corner (Los Altos) and parking in back is easy. 3. They carry items that Home Depot, Lowe's and OSH don't. (Kwikset 5" backset latch, Terro Ant Traps). 4. Stuff that the other guys do carry is way easier to find at True Value. 5, If they don't have it, they can tell you where to get it. 6. Right next to Baskin Robbins. 7. They are so helpful and give solid advice on projects, just like hardware stores used to be. The prices are reasonable. If they do not have an item in stock, they will order it for you no matter how little it costs. I go here first for my hardware needs. I hate going to the big box stores, but only do for plants and large ticket items which True Value does not have. read more

Came in here looking for wall shelves. When I walked in, no one welcomed us or asked if we needed help, so I just wandered around searching on my own. After not finding anything, I stopped to ask an employee sitting at a desk. He glared at me and grumbled "go ask the people in front." Rude. So I walked all the way to the front and a cashier. He said they didn't have shelves in stock but I could order online and pick up from the store - but he didn't know the exact process and had to ask the manager. He walks me back to where I was before, the guy at the desk. The cashier asks about online orders and then the manager starts randomly SCREAMING in rage at me about it! Once he's done yelling like a total psycho, the cashier says quietly to me: "it's been kind of a bad day" and ushers me toward the front again. Uh, that is NO excuse to treat a customer so horribly when I am just trying to buy from you. Godawful "service" here! read more

It's a real hardware store. They have 95% of what you need for household projects. Everyone is competent. Tell them what you want to do, and they will tell you what tools and supplies you need then walk you to the isles where they are. They all speak English. It's locally owned. The gal behind the counter is the gal that owns the place. read more

Mountain View's little piece of Middle America. The staff are always helpful although sometimes charmingly grumpy. The store layout is very functional and compact -- no room for frills when you have to fit all of those shelves of oddments. Selection includes hardware as well as gardening supplies and a surprisingly wide assortment of kitchen implements. When they were out of stock on the crock pot I was looking for, they told me where else to go look for it. They share an unpaved back parking lot with the military surplus store next door, separate from the parking for other neighboring businesses. read more

Excellent hardware store where the staff is really helpful, prices are reasonable and a really good selection. This is a store where people care about their customers. I came in with a lock that was broken and instead of trying to sell me a whole shrink-wrapped replacement (like at the big chain stores), they found just the bit of the mechanism that I needed and installed it for me -- at half the price! It's not as big as the chains but they have a great selection, because they tend to stock one good quality item instead of seven shrink wrapped variants of the same thing. Go to Blossom and you'll get good, personal service, and you'll find what you need at a reasonable price! read more

This store is really cool. The staff are always ready to help you. They also have stuff you might not see at every hardware store like kitchen stuff and wind chimes. The store is right next to Mountain View Surplus. I went to get some keys duplicated, 1 car key and one mailbox key. The duplicate keys were made quickly and they worked well. When I went to Home Depot, they didn't have a blank the right size for my mailbox key, and the car key that Home Depot made didn't work.The staff was friendly and helpful. Thumbs up. read more

Great hardware store, with a wide variety of products. They don't just have your typical hardware, electrical, plumbing, painting and gardening stuff, but a bunch of kitchen and household items. They are in a very convenient location near Downtown Mountain View. I always make a point to go there when I think they may have what I need, and only if they can't help me I go to one of the big stores. Most of the time, I end up saving time and money. read more
