Never Again! Don't Go! I tried to mobile order at this blaze pizza. App says "order completed". I walk up to pick up counter. I politely ask the gentleman if my order is ready and give my name. Another worker who was slicing pizza says " yo, you ain't at domino's bro, you gotta wait" . Needless to say, things went downhill fast from there and we engaged in a heated verbal altercation in the pizzeria. I should mention there was about 10 other people waiting for their pies as well. I've worked in Newark for over 20 years, long before Blaze Pizza came to town. I think that the "pizza slicer" thought he could be rude and disrespectful to customers because we were in an urban environment and people don't care. Unfortunately for him, he was sorely mistaken. I got a full refund and left empty handed. I would never give my money to a business that does not value their customers and treat them with basic respect and dignity. It's definitely time for some customer service training here. What a shame! Downtown Newark is in the midst of an economic revitalization and customer experiences such as this undermine that progress. My advice, Don't Go! You will be disappointed. read more

Customize your fresh made brick oven pizza for $9....you can't ask for anything better in life. This chain is just amazing with fresh ingredients, large variety, customization - which basically means we are at fault to be GLUTTONS!! Each time I visit the pizza ingredients always change and it is absolutely delicious every single time. Great lunch spot but honestly this location gets SWAMPED at lunch time from all the local businesses like Prudential, Rutgers, etc.. So definitely come during off peak hours! Also when you are deciding the ingredients you won't be rushed. Highly highly recommend this chain!!! So fresh and delicious - you have to at least try it. It is perfect for vegetarians AND meat lovers. Additionally, Its great to share a pizza with someone especially if you have a lot of ingredients - the pizza ends up beings SOOO big and filling. Fast fired is damn right. If your ever in a pinch and want something really good but don't have much time, definitely come here. I love the way they had an assembly line of workers which was so efficient, they were all kind and helpful in what pizzas were good and weren't afraid to put a little extra topping ;) After about 7 minutes my pizza was already done! I had mixed 3 of their lemonades (red grapefruit, passion fruit, and lemon) for a heavenly mix- and ordered their White pie which was TO DIE FOR. my mom ordered the chicken caesar and my grandma got a pepperoni, and all of them had been crisped to perfection within minutes. The best fast pizza option in the Mar Vista/Culver City area as far as choice, taste, and speed goes. I love being able to choose my crust (and their gluten free crust is delicious, though there is cross-contamination, as all pizzas go into the same oven, so it's not recommended for those with Celiac disease!). They have vegan cheese (Daiya) and two of their sauces are dairy-free. Lots of toppings to choose from. There is an allergy card available in store and it's also online so check their website before ordering to make sure. They use a different spoon for the vegan cheese, but then cut your pizza with the same tool as the regular (non-vegan, gluten-containing) pizzas, so again, if cross contamination is an issue, beware. You can always ask and they will at least wipe the cutter/wheel. The gluten free crust takes longer to bake. Ordering online means your pizza may or may not be ready in 20 minutes, but it's usually faster than ordering in person. The regular pizza is ready in 10 minutes or so. Delicious pizza, staff is a little careless but they mean well and usually make it right... For example, they have accidentally given my GF pizza to someone else twice so far, and both times took half an hour to remake it. But once they gave me a free drink while I waited, the other time my pizza was free. Overall, I like it and I'm glad they have a good selection. read more

Came here on a Sunday night super pack. Def need more workers. I got the build your pizza $8.95 unlimited toppings. You can pick from a variety of ingredients which I thought was pretty interesting. Then they cook it for you. The pizza cook time wasn't long but they did burn my pizza. I won't bash them for that since I knew they were short staff. Service has fell off as of lately and I've been to other Blaze locations such as Staten Island and The type of service along with the preparation is completely two different experiences. Secondly I'm highly upset at the fact that I have been a Blaze customer for a very longtime now and I turned Vegan while still staying a loyal customer to you guys & yet sadly I was misinformed for several months at this location. I usually would put the pesto sauce on my crust when making my pizza but I wasn't told until recently that it has cheese in it, mind you I have been making Vegan Pies here for at least 7 months now and no employee had told me. This is a welcome addition to Newark! The personal pizza is plenty large enough and you can get as many topics as you desire. Sauce is delicious and the crust remains plenty soft enough despite being thin crust. No cracker crust here! This is a make-your-own pizza place so it is made right in front of you and takes about 10 minutes start to finish, which is less than most fresh baked pizza places. Come on down! It's right across from Military Park in the beautiful renovated Downtown. A pizza and a drink is $10.50 including tax so it is quite reasonable. read more

Oh I had such high standards. After having this in Florida I was expecting something good. Came here after hockey practice at Prudential with my kids and some of there mates. Prep areas were gross. Mozz all over the prep station in the sauce containers just mass chaos. Just so below standard. I ordered a total of 6 pies. 2 simple, 2 one topping and 2 build your own. First of all the workers in there are slower than molasses ( no joking ). They fired the 2 simples and then it took them 15 minutes to just build the other four. WHY!? These people had no sense of urgency. To top it's off wouldn't it make sense for you to have sense to fire all 6 pies together? This way they are all hot and we can all enjoy as a group. The papers clearly state how many pies are with the order. (1 of 6 , 2 of 6 etc. ) Especially if you ALL are going to move like y'all don't have anything going on at least use your brain. The best part about Blaze is that you can create your own pizza! I mean, you can literally put as many toppings on a pizza for $8.95. How much better does it get than that? I am never disappointed. This place knows how to handle a rush but almost are rushing too much. They are fast and efficient. It's a little scrambled at times and you can't finish asking for toppings before they are throwing your pizza in the oven. I wish that they would take a little time to slow down and actually focus on the order instead of worrying about the next person. read more

I have returned a few times since then, and though still not my fave, it gets 4 stars because they do as advertised, customer oriented team members, and offer an array of toppings and three different kinds of crust. And because I love their blood orange lemonade. Budget yourself ten dollars for pizza or salad and a drink, 12 if you want a s'mores dessert that you can get toasted. I came here with a friend around 2pm on a Friday for lunch. There was no line and as a first time customer I was hoping there would be one, so I had more time to decide. Anyways, this place has a chipotle styled assembly line, but with pizza. I opted for the make your own pizza. I got the original crust (because ordering pizza without gluten is like ordering an Oreo without the cream.) Next, I had the spicy sauce, which was spicy! Then, ricotta cheese, mozzarella, cherry tomatoes and basil. I didn't trust the meat options because they did look like they were frozen. The timing of the making of the pizza was all of 3 minutes, AT MOST. It was super quick, crunchy and very good. I ate the whole thing- regretted it later, but that's ok. My friend got the pesto pizza which she said was very garlicy. Overall she thought it was very good too. She also got the lemonade which was very good (she let me have a sip.) The reason for the three stars (I would give it 3 1/2) was because the pizza did leave me with an upset stomach, I think because of the spicy sauce and over eating, but it shouldn't have that much of an affect on me. Also, the tables were dirty and greasy. I was wearing a white shirt, so I was prone to stains. Overall, I would go again, but not on a Friday, so I can leave it in the office fridge for the following day. read more

It was our first time and the server behind the counter was patient with us and helped explain our choices. We ended up ordering 2 meat lovers, 3 create your own, and a 1/2 pizza 1/2 salad. The personal pizzas are the perfect size and cook super quickly. We had a few garlic knots and they were AMAZING. Loved the fact that they had straws that weren't plastic but also didn't start disintegrating in your drink either. I confess, I am giving this a slightly lower rating than the 2.5-3 stars it deserves. However, it's a fast food pizza restaurant... in New Jersey. The consensus among my friends who went here said "this would be really good pizza, if we weren't in the New York area." Right now, if you look at Yelp, this is the best restaurant in the entire city. That is, without a doubt, false. It is good for what it is, it offers gluten-free options, which can be hard to find. As far as pizza goes? It is average to below average. Maybe there should be different categories for fast food. It compares favorably to other fast food. As far as pizza goes? Mercato, Queen, Edison Ale House, and others are all better. Yelp can be kind of disappointing sometimes. read more

Perfect new addition to the downtown Newark area. I've been to the Blaze in Paramus. It instantly became my favorite place. I was overjoyed when I saw that it was coming to Newark. I mostly come here during my lunch break. The line can get really long, but the workers do their best to speed the orders, although it can feel rushed. Only one occasion they did not add one of the toppings I requested. But with the amount of people they are trying to serve, it wasn't a big deal to me. The pizza was still delicious. I try to be adventurous with my toppings each time I go there. For $8.25 unlimited toppings, why not! The only negative thing is that sometimes they don't put enough meat on the pizza. I have to ask for more meat to be added. They don't give me a hard time about it so that's a plus. They are always friendly. I've been there 4 times for lunch and already some of staffs remember me!
