It's Chipotle. So, it's Chipotle. Same. Same. If you've been to one, you've been to all. Difference is in the service, cleanliness, and the ingredients (while it should I taste the same, but sometimes... the rice is undercooked.. and over salted). This location is conveniently near the Prudential Center, just 5 mins. Got myself a chicken bowl - there was a 10 min wait for honey chicken. The rice was cooked - chicken wasn't tough, tomato & corn salsa has good flavors... sadly the guac was kind of bland... still a good bowl. I needed a little substance for the next 5 hours to endure a concert and a potential long commute back to the city at night. Tables needed cleaning, but overall, good enough. read more

Chipotle Mexican Grill - Chicken bowl, lime rice, no beans, both salsa and medium heat. Nothing crazy. - Mexican Near Me - Newark, New Jersey

I was disappointed the first time I went to this spot because I ordered ahead and all the food was cold by the time I ate it! Also, the beans were on the bottom and nearly leaking through the bowl. Would I order again? Probably because of the prices compared to the spots inside Gateway. Update: I went back three more times and it's been a lot better. I guess the key is not to order ahead? lol The trick is to get here before the 12:00 rush, it'll cut time in half! It's super close to Prudential so you can have a quick bite before heading to an event. Parking is none existent so good luck if you drive in, however it's a close walk from Pru. read more

What has changed? OFTEN, they run out of ingredients. This week, people were waiting in a long line for....proteins. The only thing that came out was steak, and the staffer asked..."WHO IS WAITING ON STEAK?" Come to the front of the line if you want steak. This after waiting about 20 minutes. Meanwhile, I wanted a veggie salad...so I said...may I order please I just want a veggie salad (there were 2 ladies in front of me waiting on chicken) so I was able to then, after waiting while I didn't know what was the reason, get my salad. Let me state - many of the trays were empty, not just protein. I got the last of the pinto beans - dried up pinto beans. White rice was empty. Often, they are either cash only, or credit/debit card only. You learn to bring both with you, or you're leaving without ordering. The employee turnover is still often, but I will state that everyone working there is pleasant~! Lastly, there's a new cilantro lime sauce. I thought it'd be bright and citrus-y. NO, it burned my mouth and lips. It was inedible. Such a disappointment, and it was placed on top of everything. In trying to scrape it off, the casualties were the corn, the chunky tomato salsa, and some of the guac. I wound up throwing out about 80% of the salad b/c of this horrible sauce. Lesson learned. This, no fault of the staff, fault of Chipotle for not cautioning that it's hot. So that's that. If you're in the area, expect a delay/line and empty food trays during peak hours. I think they are more busy filling the app orders, which takes food away from the people there in person. read more

Recently visited here on a work trip at the prudential center. Typically I wouldn't comment on chain locations but due to an incident, I feel like I should mention it here. Located in downtown Newark near the prudential center, this Chipotle location draws lots of different kinds of people. While there, we had some crazy people come through yelling and screaming. The staff was professional and calmed the situation down, making the general dining experience less tense than before. For that, I have to give a nod to this location and their staff. read more

Idk why reviews are bad. Staffs were kind and I had no issue ordering what I wanted. The bowl taste so fresh and good. The place is clean as well (including restroom). Maybe because I came early as they open? Only thing is the sketchy street parking but not a big issue. $2/hr read more

Pretty good. They were running about a half hour behind on mobile orders when I was there but the employees were working hard. Seems like management needs to hire more people because the staff is overwhelmed. They forgot my chips which i paid extra for. I ordered the quesadillas which tasted great. Overall, pretty standard Chipotle food but staff is clearly overwhelmed and the store was chaos. read more

AVOID AVOID AVOID.... AT ALL COST! The only GREAT thing about this place was the nice homeless guy that was opening the door for people coming and going in and out of this place. I tipped him nicely as I left. Thank you nice homeless guy! Okay, the place was a pigsty, plan and simple, truly a nasty, stinky place. Service. Nasty. Most employees here do not speak English, so if you're just an average American Lithuanian, like me, you might have trouble ordering your simple bowl of meat and vegetables. Pointing didn't even seem to help at all. Eventually the short young tatted-out manager came up to me with attitude asking what the issue was. She basically told me that maybe I should learn how to speak Spanish. How's that for service here in the good old United States. The food is your typical Chipotle stuff, but the filth and nasty service is good reason to avoid this place. Two thumbs down. read more

LOCKDOWN REVIEW: Pickup orders can be placed through the chipotle.com website. After you order and get to the location, go inside and walk up to the cash register where online orders will be handed to you. It's been a while since I've ordered from Chipotle in general, let alone this location in Downtown Newark. I discovered Chipotle has a new menu section - Lifestyle Bowls. I like that there are options for people following different dietary plans, such as Keto, Whole30, Paleo, Vegan, and Vegetarian. I've tried the two Keto bowls - there's a steak one and a chicken one - and I like them both. My dude is also a fan of the vegetarian bowl. Nice to have options. Just appreciating the little things and silver linings in these tough times. read more

Worst chipotle I've EVER ate at. The beans are always dry and the rice is always hard. I tried the Garlic steak and it was so over cooked it tasted like liver. Guac always taste like mashed avocados, no lime, no cilantro or salt flavors. The chips are never salted...its just a horrible chipotle. I'll rather drive to Bloomfield ave from now on. read more

I walked into Chipotle at 8:58pm tonight (Saturday). When it was my time to order the crew member does not greet me he says, "We don't have chicken, beef or vegetables". I left without saying a word feeling sad that this is the state service these days. The restaurant is open for another hour, is everyone going to get that statement as they walk in? read more

If you're thinking of coming here the time I post this review, think twice. The crew is going to be stingy with their portions. I'd usually go to this place whenever I have the time, but now's not a good time unless you don't mind getting scammed. I paid $20 dollars for a meal that could've lasted me longer if their portions were bigger read more

Would not recommend this location. I ordered a burrito on the app for pickup around 6pm. As I entered this location I noticed that the dining room was pretty dirty, there was trash and food everywhere, including the seats, tables, and floor. After waiting several minutes by the pick-up shelves, I realized that you had to get the attention of a worker in order to get my food. I did so, and my order was given to me. The order was correct. However, after seeing the mess in the lobby, I don't feel as though I will return. read more

I placed an order through the mobile app for this location ($70 worth of food) & they didn't even pack everything. How do I place 3 separate order of tacos (9 tacos in total) & 5 tacos are sent? I never have a problem when I go to this chipotle. Staff is always friendly and it's very welcoming inside. The good of course is always good never had an issue with their food. I come here often because I live close by to it. If trying for the first time I suggest a chicken bowl with whatever else you decide to add in it. I'm a chipotle lover. I normally get a salad bowl with chicken , white rice, tomatoes, and the hot sauce. also ask for the salad dressing (it's orange) i love putting that dressing on my salads can't have it with out it. As many pictures as i take of my food I could only find this one read more

The food is good. Bad service . It's alwayssss dirty too. When you walk in you immediately see food in the floor. I came to apply to work at chipotle and it took them 2 hours to get to me because the manager forgot about me. Seems she didn't care also interview took literally 30 seconds. read more

The customer service was terrible the lady at the counter didn't even wanna help me when I asked questions as to what the items were. From the initial encounter, their customer service was absolutely poor. They refused to give me the amount equivalent to "double" when I requested a double veggie bowl. The place was not packed at the moment either, in fact, no one was behind me. Then, they gave half-full cups of on the side sour cream. If that weren't enough, I purchased guacamole... and they did not put in my bag. I am so disappointed with the behavior of this store. It does not uphold the normal chipotle standards and I will not be a customer at this store again. Please, never go to this chipotle. read more

Much improved chipotle location. I've been ordering from this place again for the past 2 weeks off and on and the orders are made accurately. Before the rice was sometimes undercooked but it's but now it's perfect. Also the tables are cleaner now despite the busy restaurant. Meat quantity has improved and not easily countable on 10 fingers. I received 9 cubes of meat before plus some scraps.. read more

I was so happy to see Chipotle opening up in Newark. But what the fudge! I am a big fan of Chipotle but this place disappoint in terms of quality. I ordered steak burrito two different occasions, and both time, the steak was chewy and lack flavor. I don't mind the lack of flavor but the steak should never be chewy. The chicken also lack some flavor. Both times I came here after 7pm, so that might play a factor as to why the meat is not up to par. Unlike some restaurants in the downtown area, this place is open late. And the prices are fair. But unfortunately I have to be desperate to get Chipotle here. I don't like being disappointed by Chipotle. This place needs to get it together. read more

Worst chipotle ever Meat is always served cold and the chips and guacamole are stale The line for the bathroom HAS A HORRIBLE WAIT TIME One room/stall. for both genders. The women are using the MENS room for god sake Workers have no gusto no energy and definitely don't want to be there . They throw unabashedly throw ingredients into the bowl way too damn fast. Slow down its not a race. For a place being on the east coast there is no air conditioning and that pissed me off. It's summer time in jersey and you're warming up the place cooking. Fix the AC IN HERE . My Nantucket orange was warm before I sat down. That's how hot inside the restaurant was. This place may want to check the temperature of the beverage refrigerator before serving room temperature to customers. That's a health hazard. Furthermore the holding container for the cooker chicken should be checked too. Never have I see so much food dropped in the steaming trays Hire more professional cooks here to handle a crowd not teenagers. My recent experiences with Chipotle were disasters, so it was a welcome change to get good, polite people and good food. We stay in Harrison and have very bad experiences with the Chipotle at Kearny Avenue, to a point where we got chicken in vegetarian dishes. So we were skeptical to order again from another Chipotle. My wife went to pick up the food, the staff who didn't want get to enter the store sure to Covid safety were nice, helpful and polite. Since she we had parked across the street, the lady at the door even guided her on the safe way to get across. So thanks to the staff for making us to trust Chipotle again. so far I been coming to thia location for bout awhile now , and for the pass 3 visits I been coming in and most of the employees are on one side of the place, while theres only one person over the counter that's serving food onky one , while a whole line of people waiting to order , and no body els jump in to help except the asian guy , the management need to pay a very close attention to this point of view , food is great , the only this that is not fear is lazy employees and that should change and build a team a team work , I'm in restaurants industry Please manage address the iss ASAP read more

Love ,Love ,Love the food. Great service and nice staff. Jessica is my goo too, she makes me feel comfortable even when im alone. Love her.

3 incorrect to go orders is absolutely ridiculous. I don't understand how incompetent you have to be to not be able to follow directions on a ticket. A chicken burrito with chips and a drink is a pretty easy order. how the hell do you forget both the chips and drink. Its a waste of my time and money. All I get in return is a free voucher for two bags of chips. When I order them I'm sure they'll somehow manage to get that wrong too. I don't want a voucher, I want my money back. read more

I wish I could give it a 0 I waited for over 1 hour which I timed myself for the meat to be cooked. The worker had no urgency and kept stepping away from the grill and coming back leaving some of the meat to burn. He was perhaps the laziest worker I have seen in a very long time.
