Difference is in the service, cleanliness, and the ingredients (while it should I taste the same, but sometimes... the rice is undercooked.. and over salted). This location is conveniently near the Prudential Center, just 5 mins. Got myself a chicken bowl - there was a 10 min wait for honey chicken. The rice was cooked - chicken wasn't tough, tomato & corn salsa has good flavors... sadly the guac was kind of bland... still a good bowl. What has changed? OFTEN, they run out of ingredients. This week, people were waiting in a long line for....proteins. The only thing that came out was steak, and the staffer asked..."WHO IS WAITING ON STEAK?" Come to the front of the line if you want steak. This after waiting about 20 minutes. Meanwhile, I wanted a veggie salad...so I said...may I order please I just want a veggie salad (there were 2 ladies in front of me waiting on chicken) so I was able to then, after waiting while I didn't know what was the reason, get my salad. Let me state - many of the trays were empty, not just protein. I got the last of the pinto beans - dried up pinto beans. White rice was empty. Often, they are either cash only, or credit/debit card only. You learn to bring both with you, or you're leaving without ordering. The employee turnover is still often, but I will state that everyone working there is pleasant~! Lastly, there's a new cilantro lime sauce. I thought it'd be bright and citrus-y. NO, it burned my mouth and lips. It was inedible. Such a disappointment, and it was placed on top of everything. In trying to scrape it off, the casualties were the corn, the chunky tomato salsa, and some of the guac. I wound up throwing out about 80% of the salad b/c of this horrible sauce. Lesson learned. This, no fault of the staff, fault of Chipotle for not cautioning that it's hot. So that's that. If you're in the area, expect a delay/line and empty food trays during peak hours. I was disappointed the first time I went to this spot because I ordered ahead and all the food was cold by the time I ate it! Also, the beans were on the bottom and nearly leaking through the bowl. Would I order again? Probably because of the prices compared to the spots inside Gateway. Update: I went back three more times and it's been a lot better. I guess the key is not to order ahead? lol The trick is to get here before the 12:00 rush, it'll cut time in half! It's super close to Prudential so you can have a quick bite before heading to an event. Parking is none existent so good luck if you drive in, however it's a close walk from Pru. read more

Recently visited here on a work trip at the prudential center. Typically I wouldn't comment on chain locations but due to an incident, I feel like I should mention it here. Located in downtown Newark near the prudential center, this Chipotle location draws lots of different kinds of people. While there, we had some crazy people come through yelling and screaming. The staff was professional and calmed the situation down, making the general dining experience less tense than before. For that, I have to give a nod to this location and their staff. read more

Pretty good. They were running about a half hour behind on mobile orders when I was there but the employees were working hard. Seems like management needs to hire more people because the staff is overwhelmed. They forgot my chips which i paid extra for. I ordered the quesadillas which tasted great. After you order and get to the location, go inside and walk up to the cash register where online orders will be handed to you. It's been a while since I've ordered from Chipotle in general, let alone this location in Downtown Newark. I discovered Chipotle has a new menu section - Lifestyle Bowls. I like that there are options for people following different dietary plans, such as Keto, Whole30, Paleo, Vegan, and Vegetarian. I've tried the two Keto bowls - there's a steak one and a chicken one - and I like them both. My dude is also a fan of the vegetarian bowl. Nice to have options. As I entered this location I noticed that the dining room was pretty dirty, there was trash and food everywhere, including the seats, tables, and floor. I ordered steak burrito two different occasions, and both time, the steak was chewy and lack flavor. I don't mind the lack of flavor but the steak should never be chewy. The chicken also lack some flavor. Both times I came here after 7pm, so that might play a factor as to why the meat is not up to par.
