I had the build your own breakfast. My over medium eggs came out over easy. No big deal. I can still work with that. The pork sausage links were delicious because they just are. I paid extra for the bear claw french toast. The bear claw itself had been underbaked and was still raw dough in the middle so it kinda just tasted like yeasty jam with scrambled egg on the outside. I am always rather skeptical when something claims to be hot... like how hot (I am a fan of hot!) Goodness, it was amazingly hot!! Perfect! Exactly what I wanted!! My family and I had dinner at this Black Bear Diner, and I accidentally left my $700 Louis Vuitton sunglasses on the table. When I realized soon after leaving, I came back right away. I was treated with indifference and manager she told me that if the sunglasses weren't there, I must have left them somewhere else I can't help you. I explained where I left them, but felt dismissed. I left my name and number and was promised a call the next morning. That call never came. I had to follow up myself. When I finally spoke with the district manager, I was told they asked employees and checked the trash, but found nothing. I was left with the impression that there was no thorough investigation and no sense of urgency. Our server, Brianna, was beyond fantastic. It was our first time and she happily helped us navigate the menu. My husband got eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, fruit and a pancake and he ate every bit of it. Great chicken fried steak! Roberto was the kindest most handsome server ever!! He was super accommodating and a great server.

We tried this restaurant for supper last night. Very busy and somewhat loud. Our server admitted that she was new to her job. It was evident with the lack of bringing the salads out first and then the main course later. She forgot the salad until we reminded her. The food was not what we expected. The beef sandwich had too much garlic and it could not be finished. The prime rib plate was just OK but the baked potato was undercooked. We were not offered the opportunity for any dessert which I found unusual. The check was dropped too early. When we checked out, we asked them to split our check 50/50 onto two different credit cards. It was a $97 tab and they split it $64 and $33. The person that was the cashier seemed to be challenged with this math. Our server was actually helping the cashier to try and figure it out. We will not return. read more

I went here twice after checking the menu for gluten free breakfast. I can't eat gluten and the cross contamination isn't an issue for me-- I just can't have it. Both times I ordered two different meals and they couldn't make them because they didn't have oat milk or GF bread. No biggie but maybe don't have them on the menu if you're not going to have them available. I hodgepodged a meal together and it was fine but I could have made a scrambled egg and fruit salad at home. My spouse found his food underwhelming but I think he was more grumpy about my situation. My boyfriend and I came in on a Saturday morning for breakfast. We usually visit on Sundays, so we were not sure what to expect. We were seated immediately which was great because we had an event to attend after breakfast. After being seated we were greeted by Kelvin, our server. He was very welcoming and got our drink orders rather quickly. Coffee was piping hot and my boyfriend's sweet tea had plenty of ice, and he enjoyed the taste of it, perfect level of sweetness. We were able to order once our drinks arrived. I ordered a veggie omelette with grits and wheat toast. My boyfriend opted for a build your own breakfast plate. He ordered pancakes, eggs scrambled with cheese, and he upgraded to the homemade sausage patties. Our orders came out quickly and all of our items were hot. Unfortunately, my omelette came out incorrectly. I had requested no onions. However, it came out with onions and no cheese. Kelvin was quick to come check on us after the food arrived, so I was able to tell him my omelette was wrong. Five minutes later my new omelette arrived at my table. I even received additional wheat toast on my plate. This made my boyfriend happy because he loves toast with butter. Despite the restaurant becoming busier, Kelvin still managed to remain attentive to us which I enjoyed. All in all it was a wonderful experience. read more

Iliff Ave Aurora, Co 80014 My Brother and I went to the establishment on Friday 03/28/2025 at 7:16 pm we ordered the two fish dinners at $15.99 each mind you that's all the fish you can eat. Our order came to the table. The fish was badly overcooked so hard. You could pick up the fish and throw it through the window and break the glass window. So I ask for Manager of the dinner. I spoke to her very nice. Told her about the fish that was on our plate overcooked, and she looked at it and said it was overcooked. And she said she would redo our plates and bring us some more fresh fish cooked, but not overcooked. I also asked if they changed the fish in the last four months and of course, they did change the fish and now it's in breading and greasy. Compared to the other fish they used to carry that was fried and cornmeal that wasn't greasy and didn't have all that batter on it. I was extremely disappointed, and I probably will never go there again. Then she said she going to bring us more fresh french fries because we had been waiting at least 10 minutes or longer. And she never came back with the french fries. The Waitress was very nice even though she barely spoke English, she didn't understand what we were saying to her I even asked her where are you from? This is my first time back to Black Bear Diner in over a year. What a huge disappointment! While the service was fine, the food was literally horrible. Maybe it's because I've been eating clean for a year. But, I ordered the pot roast and I swear it came straight out of a bag. It was literally nothing but stringy meat and a few soggy vegetables thrown in. Essentially flavorless as were the watery mashed potatoes. The green beans with bacon were nothing but a broth with a few mushy beans thrown in. My companion ordered pancakes and they tasted like sweetened cardboard. Definitely not the pride of the fleet. Service was nice and the dining room was reasonably clean. But the food just didn't meet expectations. Club sandwich was uneven at best. Bacon was not crispy. Fries were stale. It's too easy to make fries fresh. Why serve fries out of a bin when you can cook them fresh for each customer? Black bear diners in general have become extremely inconsistent in food quality and service. The worst in the world is Emeryville California. Shasta Lake is one of the better ones. This one here in Aurora Colorado, definitely qualifies as not so good. read more
