Wanted to spice it up and try something a little different then what I'm used to. We came in on a Sunday at 1pm for lunch and we walked in the bar was full, we ordered a bunch of appetizers for the table. My husband and I came here for dinner and we were glad we did. The atmosphere was very relaxed, music on the jukebox, people playing pool, and although the tv's were on, the sound was off and you could carry on a conversation. We both ordered burgers and fries and although my burger was missing two main elements (mushrooms and onions), the burgers were juicy and flavorful and the bun was fresh and held up to the burger. Only giving 2 stars because staff was pleasant. Otherwise, TERRIBLE food, and I do mean terrible. "Potato skins" are basically baked potatoes with gross refrigerator flavored chicken that tasted like tofu, zero flavor added salt and pepper still didn't help. "Jalapeño poppers" were literally awful, some weird think oil flavored crust on them, bacons underneath was not cooked just raw. Bloody marry was straight vodka with zero flavor or spice, "house made ranch" was awful, tasted like dollar tree salad dressing ranch. I will never go back ever. I've eaten at thousands of sports bars and restaurants in 35+ states and this was the worst so far. The positive reviews were left by friends and family. This is a hidden gem. Yes, it has been remodeled and looks fantastic. Yes, it has two sections of outdoor seating. Yes, the place has fantastic food...Yes, yes, yes. I have been to the Backstreet Tavern a couple of times. I have always had great service, food, and a laid back experience. Granted I have never seen the place full, but the waitstaff is attentive, and I never waited for a drink. The food is pure bar fare, but is well made and executed. I had the wings, which were pretty good, and the cheese filled, bacon wrapped, jalapenos (real jalapeno poppers)...they were exceptional. The bar has live music some nights, but the night I showed up for live music, the band didn't. The bar is very clean, and the crowd is friendly. The only problem I have with this bar is that it is off the main street, and doesn't have a large enough sign for passerby's to know it is there. If you can find it, stop in, you wont be disappointed. read more

I went on Yelp and searched for "Dive Bars in Aurora" in search for some local eats. This place came up as a best recommendation, it literally is on the road right behind my local Costco. I am glad I found this place, from the outside I could tell it was a "dive bar" but that did not stop me on a mission for bar food! It is open seating and there was music going, I could totally tell this place had a good vibe. Overall the place was super clean and everyone was getting along there, seemed like this place had a ton of regulars which is awesome!. Within 1-2 minutes of sitting down we were greeted by a very friendly server/bartender and asked what we were drinking. I saw on the menu that they had some wings and you can never go wrong with wings, I ordered them traditional buffalo and then for my main dish was the patty melt. Everything game out hot and fresh, now the wings had VERY nice crisp outside to them and super juicy on the inside. The wings were very meaty as well, the buffalo had a slight kick but not too much of a kick where it was burning my mouth. They also make their own homemade ranch which tasted great. Now the patty melt I could tell that they use Angus beef (and they did advertise that they did), I ordered mine about a medium well and was cooked to perfection! The patty melt was nice and juicy and tasted awesome, each bite was packed full of flavor and they put a homemade sauce on it as well. The french fries were nice and crispy and packed with flavor with the season they use, everything was AMAZING. I am glad I found this place. Hidden gem dive bar located behind king soopers. You have to be a local to find this place there's no way you can see it just by driving on Mississippi. Happy hour is 3-7pm and Poker is on Thursday nights starting at 7:30pm #RowdyPoker. Lots of parking with a wrap around patio, great for a summer get together. Inside has a open feel with lots of TVs. We asked for his recommendation which was dry rubbed chicken wings with sauce on the side. The wings were so good, no sauce was needed or used. We also got an order of chicken tenders with fresh cut fries. Everything was delicious! Will talked with us for a while. He's from New Orleans and is a very personable and friendly gentleman. He's very dedicated to the business owner which shines brilliantly through his customer service attitude, friendliness and willingness to work late to serve patrons. I wish I lived in the Denver area so I could become a regular here. I'll just have to stop by anytime I return to town. read more

Very impressed with Casey's ability to work this neighborhood bar and grill, when we've stopped in for lunch the last 3 weeks. She had told my son and I the Monte Cristo special was really good. Today we each had one with the generous side offered and a beer for lunch! Both of us were pleased. The only drawback is the sandwich is no longer on the menu but having it as a specialty when Casey (who works Wednesdays) can convince them too cook. Casey is such a personable and capable bar tender/waiter we will return on Wednesdays for more. This place was surprisingly great, the bartender was really friendly and helped my boyfriend and I pick out something from the menu. We sat at the bar and got our drinks and food in a timely manor. I ordered the fish and chips since it was that days special. The fries were probably my favorite part, I absolutely love love love hand cut fries. These were cooked till crispy and golden and not at all oily or flimsy. The side coleslaw was also super delicious and had a sweet and creamy flavor. The fried fish was a little on the oily side but the meat was tender and not over cooked. My boyfriend ordered the Cuban sandwich which I didn't think was anything special but it was good. We also ordered there hand battered onion rings, they were good but also a little oily. Overall everything was pretty good and would recommend going here for a chill place to drink and eat. I've been to this place many times over the past 10 years and have always enjoyed it. I went there on 9/28/17 and I think that it was probably the last time. The server was very nice. But the food was horrible and I'm pretty sure the fryer is broken. We had to send the fries back because they were ice cold when they came out. We even had the waitress try them and she agreed. She quickly corrected it and got us another order. I didn't realize until after I had eaten some of them that the wings were also not cooked. We found this place on yelp really just trying to avoid all of the fast food places on our first trip to the area. Doesn't look like much from the outside, but everything we ate was AMAZING. I had the backstreet burger with jalapeño cream cheese and bacon, and my parents had the monte Cristo and chicken fingers. Everything was absolutely delicious!
