I finally got the opportunity to go to Piper Inn last night! I ordered the fried rice combo, parm and garlic wings, crab and cream cheese wontons, and carne asada fries. My friend ordered this rice, egg and gravy dish, can't remember the name, but was killer!!! Everything we ate was absolutely delicious. The wings were crispy and flavorful. The wontons were not skimpy and had a lot of filling. Fried rice was perfectly flavored and I love that they put bean sprouts in it for a little crunch and texture. Asada fries also did not disappoint. They have a signature sauce that truly goes with everything and was a hit. Service was friendly and on point! Patrons were also very friendly. Well this place is something! It's definitely a spot to check out once or become a regular at. It's not a large bar and the regulars definitely have their spots and songs (they like to chant at high octaves...before 6pm) but it's all part of the atmosphere so it works! The carne asada fries were really good. The verde was spicy but the sour cream cut it and the toppings were good and not excessive so things didn't get soggy. My husband and I split a burger and an order of wings. The burger was good, cooked perfectly but too much bleu cheese for my taste. We got the Chinese and BBQ wings. I was so excited for the wings after that I heard/read but they were not crispy as I expected, the wings were too saucy and while the barbecue had good flavor, the Chinese were very salty. My daughter had a great time so that's cool but I don't know that I'd come back. I'm glad I checked it off my bucket list. read more

This unassuming biker bar is a hidden gem in Aurora! They have a nice selection of appetizers and entrees which are delicious! Been meaning to check out this place, and it's exactly what you would think it is. A nice place if you like a biker/dive bar vibe. The drinks aren't too bad, price wise. The food was decent. We ordered Buffalo Wings and Cantonese Chicken. The Buffalo wings were pretty good, it was 10 for $19. That is slightly pricey. The Cantonese Chicken was decent, but a little too salty. I've been reading about Piper Inn for years and finally got a chance to check it out! Absolutely loved the vibe and feel as soon as we walked in. Divey and authentic! Sat at the bar I believe the bartender helping us name was Tasha, she was attentive and had a fun personality. The food was spot on from everything I've heard and read! The pimento cheese burger was huge and had plenty of flavor with the bacon. Bacon could be cooked a more for crispness. The fried crab cheese rangoon and combo fried rice (only a $1 up charge for combo) were absolutely delicious! Stopped in because we heard the food was locally iconic. Tried the eggrolls that everyone talks about and wasn't super impressed, they were very greasy. The homemade sweet and sour sauce was fantastic though! The chicken egg foo young has bacon in the literal gravy and wasn't at all expected and not really a great addition IMO. I finally made it to The Piper Inn, with Carne Asada Fries on my mind since they've been one of the most recommended items along with the wings. What I ordered: Carne Asada Fries - Signature crinkle fries topped with aged cheddar beer cheese, sour cream, salsa verde, cilantro, and onions. Buffalo Wings - Classic East Coast-style wings with ranch, because I refuse to eat mold. Best bites: A guy I know suggested I order the orange chicken and use the sauce to enhance the fries. But first, I had to try them in their most natural form and they were delicious! I love a crinkle fry, so that made it even better. The wings? Solid. Perfectly fried with a great sauce. It boasts an interesting menu that is a mix of Cantonese food and American bar food. A Denver institution, dive biker bar where Parker Rd meets Evans Ave. Seriously some of the best wings in the Denver Metro, IMO. The Asian Hot is my go to fav, (I rarely order anything else). They are never really very spicy to me, but always great flavor. Love the crinkle cut fries, but they are like $10 for a plate, way overpriced for a dive bar. Beer is always cold, bathrooms are clean, staff is always friendly playing some good classic rock playlists. There are a lot of regulars of all ages so The Piper is usually pretty busy. read more

That beef noodle soup they got is the best I ever had took forever so if you order make sure it's before the rest of your party because they do all of it by hand. Totally love the dive bar vibe. Great selection of tap craft beers. Had to try the much touted wings. Went with the medium Chinese sauce as was told the mild is very salty. Medium sauce was tasty and not spicy. Loved the homemade egg roll. 5.00 might be a bit steep for one egg roll. Got to make an update...I have a prior review complaining a bit about the salt content in the Asian sauce. Well I'm not a quitter by any means so I kept going and ordering all their other great stuff...egg foo young, patty melt, even the grilled ham& cheese...in the mean time they made adjustments to the sauce or something because I was there last week and they were delightful! I've come here a few times and every time it's just as good. It's an real old school bar with the wood decor, low lighting, a few tvs and neon signs. They have both inside and covered outside seating which is nice cause they get busy. The menu is Chinese (which I've never had but heard great things) and America bar food. I always get the wings and they are the best in Colorado-- a MUST TRY. The staff is welcoming and seems like there are a ton of regulars which is always something I appreciate. Legendary spot that I wish I lived closer to. I have an infatuation for institutions like Piper Inn. Around since the late 60's, they're known for being a dive bar with above average bar food. Plus, Piper Inn is just a great name for a bar IMO! I came here after an event and it looked closed from the outside. I'm not sure if the lights were out or if it's typically this dark. But lo and behold, they were indeed open. And thank the lord, because I was STARVING. Pull up a bar stool and grab a beer. It's the first order of business at any dive. There's tons of old neon signage, a pool table, TV's and maybe one of the most surprising menus you'll find at a bar. Quality Asian pub fare at a dive bar? Say it ain't so?! The wings are iconic in their own right. They are heavily seasoned, honestly it might be too much of a good thing. However, the sticky Asian wings are my type of eating. The kicker are the traditional Chinese-style plates they serve them on. If I weren't alone, I would've ordered the egg rolls and fried rice, too. One thing I haven't tried (which aren't Asian) are the carne asada fries, which I've heard are phenomenal. Overall a solid spot with lots of history in Aurora. It might draw in a tough crowd, but I've always found the service extremely polite. Don't judge a book by its cover. Check it out! read more

We've been making our way around the state to try out different chicken wings. It's a chore, but someone's gotta do it. Piper Inn's Chinese Wings are currently at a strong #2 on our list! A very, very good wing with a really tasty sauce. They were a good size and fried up nicely. Very much worth the half hour drive. We also tried their house made egg rolls which (if they had peanut butter) would be the closest we've found in Colorado to the well-known and loved Chicago egg roll. The ratios of shrimp & pork to cabbage were really good. The flavor was nice and they were soooo fresh! Finally, we nibbled on the beef wontons and the crab cheese wontons. The beef was dense but very flavorful. Almost like an overworked meatball inside a crispy shell. The crab cheese wontons were fine, but there's so much more on the menu to try that I think we would skip both wontons next time. Our server was quick and attentive despite being busy. I visited Piper Inn after 10 years and all I can say is that the food is still the same. Tasteless fried rice and hard hot wings. The food is still disappointing but the ambiance was great, always mellow and with a good vibe. The waiter could have been more nicer but she was ok. I've been tempted to try this place several Times and just never got around to it. I finally did an order online and picked up. I've heard the term biker bar before about this and when I walked in it's DEFINITELY a biker bar. Everyone kind of turned and looked at me and I felt out of place. I got my order and left ASAP. I got the Chinese wings and fried rice. Both were - OK. The Chinese wings were neither sweet or spicy, kind of tasted like soy/hoisin sauce but BLAND. The fried rice was fresh but also tasted bland. Maybe I'll try the dry rub or Buffalo wings some time. I would probably never go sit here. Otherwise nothing overly impressive not really sure why they serve bar food and Asian I've never heard much of an explanation. read more
