Skippy's has been my home bar ever since I moved to Denver nearly two years ago, and I honestly can't recommend it enough. Beyond the great food and drinks (and prices), what makes this place special is the people. As a woman who often comes in by herself, I've always felt safe, welcomed, and comfortable. The bartenders are attentive, friendly, and truly on top of their game. They remember their regulars and have created the kind of neighborhood bar where it's easy to feel like you belong. Shortly after moving to Denver, I experienced an unimaginable personal loss, and during that difficult time Skippy's became a place where I could get out of the house, watch a game, have a great meal, read a book and simply be around kind people. I'll always be grateful for that. I've also met some wonderful friends here--people I've gone to sporting events and concerts with--and that's something I never expected when I first walked through the door. The food is fantastic, especially the wings. If you haven't been on Thursdays for the $1 wing special, you're missing out! And with more than 30 TVs, it's the perfect place to catch a game. They never hesitate to switch one of the TVs so I can watch something that's not always popular in Colorado, like Nebraska football, Nebraska volleyball, or a WNBA game, which I really appreciate. Whenever family or friends visit me in Denver, Skippy's is always on the itinerary. I usually get the mini tacos, which is my favorite item on the menu, and now they have taken them off. We stopped in for dinner with some friends that had never been there before. We were hyping up the place and food. We arrived and we had sat next to the pool tables hoping to eventually get a game in ourselves. That part never happened because the same people that were playing when we arrived never left the tables so others can play. We waited a while before a server, Diana, walked over and took our drink order. She came back with our drinks and ordered the wrong thing for one of our friends. He said he would still drink it but asked for the correct one going forward. We then ordered an appetizer while sipping our drinks and chatting. Our drinks were empty and we had to flag her down to order a new round and to order our dinner. I asked about the mini tacos since I noticed they were no longer on the menu. She said they still had them available even though they were listed. Awesome! The food did take some time to come out and we asked about the appetizer that still hadn't arrived and my tacos hadn't either. She said the jalapeno poppers were just being cooked and said the tacos should be out shortly. Everyone else started eating. I waited. You could tell she was actively trying to avoid our table. We flagged her down again to a third round of drinks and check on the tacos and appetizer. She said she would go check on them. Everyone else finished their food. I waited. She brought out our drinks and we asked again about the tacos and appetizer. She apologized and said they actually cannot make the tacos and that she would check again on the app. We asked her to cancel the app and I order eggrolls. I figured something fast because at this point everyone is irritated and I was hungry. She said she would discount our bill and cancel the poppers. As she walked away the poppers arrived. I will say, they were amazing! The only good thing about this whole incident. My eggrolls arrived and they were gross. Honestly not good at all. We asked for our bill and there was no discount. I questioned it and she said she had to talk to her manager. When she came back she had taken 2 drinks off the tab. I felt like that was nothing for this whole issue, but whatever. A separate incident, we walked in the other night to just stop in and have a drink. We went to sit at the bar but there were no 2 seats together except two next to one lady who claimed the beer sitting in front of one seat was for someone who said he was coming back. We sat at the bar seating that faces the rest of the restaurant. We heard the bartender argue with a patron who asked about his beer and she snapped at him that she was getting it. We waited and waited. Then we saw the bartender take the shot glass away that was next to the almost done beer next to the original lady so we thought he was gone. Walked back up and the lady rudely said, I told you he said he will be back. We went back to the bar seating and waited. We never got contacted or even looked at by anyone on the staff so we left. This is literally 2 incidents in a row and the staff is looking pretty bad. read more

This place is ACES across the board!! First off Faith & Aura are the BEST Bartenders I've ever had, personable, entertaining, attentive & making sure everyone is having a great time! With the wall to wall TV's this is THE spot to watch all your NFL Action, which I'm glad football season is finally here! The Wings here are so delicious they are quite LITERALLY a lap dance for your taste buds, especially on Thursdays when they are $1 Dine-In Special! Plus the Southwestern Pot Stickers are so amazing that every other place that sells them has been ruined as they aren't even on the same level as Skippy's! Everyone needs their local sports bar, after one visit to Skippy's, it is my go to local sports bar now. Drinks were priced fairly, ice cold beers, service was great, and food was amazing. There are daily specials and so many TV's with every possible sports game possible. Even on a Sunday afternoon, it was lively but still inviting. I had a really disappointing experience at Skippy's Sports Bar (off Iliff Ave. & Quebec St.) recently, and I feel compelled to share it. I came in around 10 PM just to hang out with friends -- I don't even drink, I just ordered a water and some mac and cheese bites. Unfortunately, the bartender on duty, Aura, was extremely rude from the moment I interacted with her. When I told her the water tasted off and asked if I could get a new one, she told me flat-out that she didn't care and refused to replace it. That was already surprising, but it got worse. Aura then mocked me by imitating my laugh in a really negative and disrespectful way, all while giving me scathing looks. I was completely caught off guard -- I wasn't being rude or difficult, and I even asked her politely what I had done to upset her. Instead of explaining, she doubled down on the attitude and told me if I didn't like it, I could leave. This all happened in front of other patrons, and it was humiliating. I left feeling confused, embarrassed, and honestly pretty upset. I live nearby and was hoping this could be a regular hangout spot, but this experience makes me seriously reconsider coming back. I would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with management about what happened. No one deserves to be treated like that -- especially when they're just trying to enjoy a night out with friends. read more

What an amazing find in SE Denver! We were searching for a sports bar with food after a round of golf at Kennedy, and Skippy's popped up on our radar.. so glad it did! Located off Iliffe with a good size parking lot, Skippy's is convenient to Hampden/25 area too. The place is so clean, surprisingly spotless for a sports bar, so that's a huge plus! Joelle (bartender) and Laney (server) are so sweet & attentive. If only this spot was close to downtown, I'd be here too often ;) and they have NFL ticket so that's a huge plus! The drinks are great & food is on point. They have lots of daily specials for drinks & usually good specials during the week too. The green chili can be ordered mild, medium or spicy, and it's sooo good! The chips are housemade & the salsa or queso are great starters. The burgers are great & good value too. This place is nice, I've been a a few times now, and it hasn't disappointed. The food and drinks are very reasonably priced. They also have different deals every day. They have 4.5 deep eddy's, 3-5 dollar shots, 5-6 dollar margaritas, 3 dollars wells and domestic beers. Service is friendly and they do have table service. A few times we at these little booths and the severs were attentive but not overbearing. The bar is nice and they have a lot of tvs, so definitely come earlier on Sunday if you want to watch the games at the bar. read more

Not a bad local dive bar near work and home. Happy hour prices are pretty damn cheap which we like after a long day at work! Staff here are always very nice and accommodating. Pretty good location and not over priced! Try not to go to the bathroom.... I went to Skippy's for the first time for their Disney trivia night! It was pretty fun! The company they do trivia with (triviality: the live triva game) is very organized and I've done trivia with them before so I know how they ran it. The food at Skippy's was good! I got the build your own burger with fries. The fries were hot and fresh!!! The burger was a little dry. My friend got the chicken wings. You get 10 wings with bone in and it's by the pound for bone out. She got 10 bone in wings with BBQ sauce. She said they were delicious!!! She let me try a wing and it was so hot (temperature wise) and the wings were drowning in the sauce! I should have gotten the wings honestly. The drinks were good too! Not too shy on the alcohol but just the right amount! Now the bathrooms.... let's just say, if you have to go, try to wait... the bathrooms are located pasted the kitchen so you have to walk down a hallway where you see them place the food on the counter. The smell..... let's just say they need to clean it more frequently... the bathroom it's self was clean (for the most part, one toilet had toilet paper all over the floor) but the smell... I could do without. They did have a scentsy wax melts going but it just wasn't strong enough... unless the bad smell was the wax melt... Over all the burger was dry, the chicken was amazing, and try not to use the bathroom. read more

Everything about this place is amazing ! It's clean it's friendly it's airy and has many tvs the patio is cute too they have video games and amazing food I have tried many things there and it's always good ! But to top it all off I'd the staff ! They are the nicest most efficient and beautiful servers ever I have compassion for my handicap group. I bring in there unannounced and huge groups, and they handle us with ease and kindness. They are very accurate with their checks and refilling drinks. I have a special place for Lindsey the sweetest little waitress that was not concerned about her tip as much as she was helping my special needs group, I adore her and today while I was there, I got the pleasure of meeting Brigette who is also amazing. I've been living in this neighborhood for nearly 6 years but had never been to Skippy's til today! I thought I'd check it out to watch the Rockies home opener. They had a special on hot dogs: 1 for $4 or 2 for $5. What a deal--and they were delicious! They serve Shock Top instead of Blue Moon so I had an Avalanche Amber Ale, one of my favorites. Bartender was very friendly, didn't catch her name. Fun ambiance despite the underwhelming Rockies win. I'll have to come back soon and try their burgers! read more

Good little near-dive bar. Multiple pool tables that looked to be in solid shape, and they were readying for poker night as we were leaving. Great service from our server. Our drinks were simple so not much that can be "great" about just mixing whiskey and soda water but they certainly weren't bad. Not weak or super strong, just about perfect. The wife and I dove into some wings with a few different sauces. Some sweet and spicy style with some mango hot and some Thai chili. Pretty standard mix for us. Wings were a Great size, sauce was good, the ranch was good, and we were happy campers. I thought I'd stop in this cool looking little place to see if they had any Mexican food for lunch. The atmosphere is pretty low-key when you walk in and there was maybe 15 people in the place. Ordered an iced tea and a chimichanga. They give you the option of mild medium or hot green chili and I of course chose the hot! The bartender was efficient but didn't go out of her way to be very friendly. A smile would've been nice and a little mindless conversation goes along way. The food came out and as promised was smothered in green chili with a dollop of guacamole and sour cream on the side And the first bite I thought I was going to be disappointed because it was very very crispy. But after I got into it it was delicious. I opted for the ground beef chimichanga and enjoyed every bite of it. Love this place, but I just got turned downed tonight for a beer. I was told I had too much after 2 beers and denied another? I was hanging with gentlemen that said they had three or more. I'm more disappointed in the bar staff not treating me the same, offering a glass of water, at least of telling me why I was cut off considering I told them I was taking a Lyft. Skippy's is that perfect watering hole to "skip" away from work, reality, life, significant others, kids, etc and enjoy a drink in a no-judgement drama free atmosphere. Not to mention the staff is the number one reason to visit because it's that kind of place where everyone knows your name and what your drink of choice is. I live near this spot and occasionally drop in for a drink with friends and always enjoy each visit. Ainsley works behind the bar most weekends and some week nights before you can even sit down, she already is making your favorite drink and delivers with a smile asking how you've been. She is genuine and one of the hardest working bartenders I've ever met who loves her job and interacting with those around her, and makes you feel welcome regardless of she knows you or not. Their pickle shots are legendary. Their drinks are stiff and priced just right allowing you to enjoy a few without breaking the bank. They have several pool tables and regulars who always enjoy a friendly game. Several big screens all over ensuring you are entertained while enjoying a sports game or hustling your friends. And a bar food menu that has some great food and small bites after drinking up an appetite. I can always skip over to skippy's solo or with friends and know I'm in good company and will be taken care of. If going solo, you are bound to make some new friends and won't regret stopping in to check them out. Recently visited Skippy's for the first time since moving to Denver. They have one of the best French dip sandwiches I have ever had!! Their cocktails were also very good! The reason I am not giving 5 stars is because their ranch definitely doesn't taste like normal ranch which was disappointing as someone who loves dipping French fries in ranch.
