Nice spot to grab a sandwich. Most hotel restaurants are not that great but this one lives up to the reviews. I arrived at the hotel 10 minutes till 10 and they close at 10. Ordered a French dip sandwich at the last minute. It was out in five minutes. Service was quick. They were very friendly, although I felt bad for getting in so late but I had no choice. Price was good. $17 for the sandwich which is what I normally expect. The sandwich itself was very good! I wasn't in love with the fries that came with it, but the sandwich was great. It's in the hotel lobby and the setting is very nice. Plenty of room. I will definitely return. read more

The Jackdaw is located in the lobby of the Doubletree by Hilton hotel in Aurora. Enjoyed a a meal a few times while staying at the hotel for a work conference. My first night after arriving , I met my team for happy hour and then dinner. The happy hour food and drink menu options were prettty good! We had the Irish Pub Pretzels, which we enjoyed. It was also accompanied by a nice serving of rice pilaf. My wife ordered fish and chips. Deliciously prepared with thinly slices of potatoes to make home fries and they were great. It also came with a homemade tartar sauce. But we found that combining the tartar sauce with ranch dressing was perfect. We added a side salad and we dine ourselves silly. The ambiance reminds you of a Gentlemen's club. Button tuffed leather seats, with faux butcher block top tables. Prices match the quality. We had a great time and will definitely dine again. I am staying at the Doubletree and wanted a place to have a good meal. I was warmly greeted at the bar and I ordered a local IPA. They have the beers listed on a board in the bar. They have a good selection of spirits too. I told my bartender, Valerie, that I had a garlic allergy and she brought over a book of every meal they make and their ingredients. Who does this? Then to top it off she gets the chef to come out and talk to me about my allergy. I hardly ever get this treatment. Then the steak, the ribeye and asparagus were delicious, done just right. I can't figure out how to edit my review so I'm gonna add that the breakfast did not feel like a complementary breakfast. I must've gotten a deal when I booked the hotel but it was included from a third-party. It definitely felt like a really nice breakfast spread. everything you can think of including glazed, walnuts in brown sugar and cranberries for your oatmeal or your yogurt. I expected better from a bison burger. The pretzel sticks were bland and didn't have the right texture. They were just breadsticks with salt on top. The provided sauces were bland. We stumbled on this place and I am SO glad we did. Located in the hotel lobby, this restaurant and bar is very inviting. We sat at the bar and were served immediately. Super fast service and helpful with suggestions. I tried a martini cocktail made with Guinness beer. Sounds weird right? It actually was truly amazing. While we were sitting at the bar we glanced over the food menu and couldn't get past the scotch eggs. I had never had scotch eggs and they sounded interesting. We had to order them. Once they arrived, I was breath taken. They looked so beautiful. On top of their beauty, they tasted fantastic. I have now fallen in love with scotch eggs and Jackdaw. We've recently tried this restaurant for the first time. We ordered several of the cocktails such as darkness, jackdaw, and whiskey lemon one, as well as scotch egg, social club, meatballs and soda bread plus profiteroles for dessert. Pros: Cocktails were well done, whiskey one was sweet but Jackdaw was overall favorite of three. Service staff is friendly and welcoming Menu is exciting, tons of food I want to try and conveniently in Aurora Cons: Atmosphere is very quiet and even Friday night was dead at 8pm compared to most places. If you are looking for upbeat and social, this isn't it. Service is slow as also helping with room service and just not enough customers for more staff. Food temp and execution was hit or miss on items. Price per portion is high especially if not executed well. We've been to Irish pub style restaurants elsewhere and did not feel this food was as good. It's a hotel restaurant inside of a Doubletree, so I expected it to be nice, and it was. The dining room is absolutely beautiful and open to the equally gorgeous hotel lobby. Service was very professional and friendly. We were promptly greeted and seated and the manager stopped by to check on us. The food was good, but was not, in my opinion, a good value for the price. I ordered the grilled wedge salad with a side of scotch eggs (these went to my partner because he wanted to try them and it was cheaper to add them to my salad than to order them as an appetizer). My partner got fish and chips and a soda. That was almost $50 after tax for the two of us. While my partner was happy with his dish, I wasn't very impressed with mine. I felt the portion was small for the price. The salad was also drowning in cheese and onion rings (it made up half the "salad") and I felt a little grossed out by that given that I thought I was choose a relatively healthy option. My expectation was a large plate of grilled salad with dressing and then some cheese and fried onions sprinkled on top. I ended up eating around most of the fried onions but ate most of the cheese because I was still hungry after eating my small portion of lettuce. Bottom line: A beautiful restaurant with good food but a little pricey for what you get. read more

Found this place on our travels cross country a week ago, inside of the Doubletree hotel. Cool little spot with a great bar and chill atmosphere . Comfortable seating, and although the menu was "Covid limited", enjoyed our experience. We were treated to some great salads, drinks and homemade desserts...wish this place was closer to home. We were greeted right away by an awesome soul, Heidi, who took care of us as if we were her closest friends coming in to dine. She really made the experience! This used to be one our our favorite places to eat in Aurora. Great food, great sauces, good cocktails. BUT we hadn't been here in a couple months... until tonight. I ordered bacon and brussels app, which looked like they cooked it 3 days ago and put it in the oven 10x. Brussels were dried out and hard. Then my favorite dish was the fish and chips which is usually served with an amazing aioli sauce for dipping.. which is no longer available and has been replaced by a cheap tartar sauce. My husband ordered the chicken bacon wrap.. which had lots of Spinach and NO bacon. Not sure if there is a new chef or what but this place used to be a diamond in Aurora. And now it's an overpriced turd. read more

We recently had family in town staying at the connecting hotel. One night after a long day we were starving and the only thing open was Jackdaw. Initially we assumed it would be the usual overpriced mediocre hotel restaurant food however we were pleasantly surprised!!!! So surprised in fact that we even suggested to our friends that came into town later that week to stay at the same hotel and eat at the restaurant again. In total we ate at the restaurant 4 times (2 dinner and 2 breakfast). Our first 3 experiences were amazing!!! Van was our server for the first 3 occasions and he was knowledgeable, welcoming, made great suggestions, and was efficient. If I were leaving a review based on Van and those 3 experiences alone it would be 5 stars. The dinners were so good we thought we would try breakfast with our friends. The potatoes for breakfast had this fantastic seasoning and crispy that we were left craving them later. So we decided to go back on our own for breakfast today. Our fourth and final experience today however was completely different and changed the entire vibe. We were greeted at the host stand by Ruben and immediately asked "what room?". When we said none he attempted to refuse to seat us. There was no explanation for asking about a room number instead just attitude which we were confused by considering this is a public restaurant with a door directly to the outside not, just to the hotel. There was approximately 6 tables in the restaurant mostly consisting of 2 tops yet the one server was completely overwhelmed. I can understand why though bc it seems his counterpart (the rude host gentleman - Ruben) appeared to be more of a hinderance than a help. There was absolutely NO sense of urgency at all in the restaurant. We waited 15 mins just for a glass of water. The server, unsure of his name, was taking all of the tables, running food, and bussing while Ruben pretended to make/take calls. In all the times we saw him on the phone we only actually heard it ring ONCE! Ruben did attempt to help the server by taking one other table and our orders but never put them in and it was clear he had no clue about the menu since the server had to come back to both tables and retake the orders as well as correct mistakes. Now on to the food; which was subpar and cold this time around. Our eggs which were supposed to be over medium were actually over hard which I can only assume is bc they sat in the window under a hot lamp continuing to cook. Our toast burnt and reheated. Last time there was a whole wheat option and today I was told they never had it. Bacon was all one giant mess of a piece instead of individual slices. The potatoes we were left craving the first time with the seasoning and crispy texture had zero seasoning and were mushy! There was an orange garnish on the plate under the eggs that was not there before which left our eggs tasting of orange - gross!! Zero consistency in this place!! When we went to pay our server with a credit card since we had already mentioned we did not have a room we were told the system was down and they could not accept them which is why they were asking for room numbers. Again, that should have been explained in the beginning. We really thought we found a new spot to eat but it seems we were mistaken. Sadly disappointed this last time and probably will not return. Really need to get some consistency in your restaurant and Rueben probably needs a new line of work. read more

Between working all day and lots of places being closed due to Coronavirus, I decided to just get dinner at the hotel. Heidi took my order and I have to say I think she is one of the sweetest human beings ever. They were out of the item I wanted (due to Coronavirus) and Heidi helped me choose another dish that sounded just as delicious. My food was ready quickly, and was just as I had ordered it. Heidi is so sweet and genuine and really made the experience. If you're staying at the hotel or close by, I definitely recommend this place!! read more

This place is a little bit of a hidden gem. The neighborhood area is sort of lacking for decent restaurant's if you want something more than a sandwich or carry out. Located inside the Doubletree Hotel, but accessible through a side door, there is plenty of parking and it's easy to get to right off the main street and near the highway. The decor is cool and modern and cozy. We were there on a Saturday evening and there was a wedding reception happening in an adjacent room and there was very minimal noise. We were not staying at the hotel but went over to try the restaurant because we didn't feel like driving across town and wanted more than a gyros :) The drink menu is large and diverse. There is a bar if you want to just drop in for a drink. They call the menu "Irish fusion" and everything looks amazing. I had the fish and chips and it was delicious, traditional style, well cooked.
