Me and The Hubs had a 'date night' here a few weeks ago one night mid-week. The night we went, they weren't very busy and plenty of tables were available both inside and on their beautiful patio. We started with indoor seating since we both thought it was a little too warm outside, but the a/c was blowing super hard on our heads and we moved outside. That turned out to be a great move! Their patio is so inviting - so many pots and hanging baskets of flowers! AND it turned out not to be too warm so we were very happy. We both ordered beers (duh) to start and an order of the Crispy Fried Brussel Sprouts (deep fried and drizzled with a balsamic vinegar glaze). These days every restaurant seems to feel the need to have B sprouts on their menu. Some are really good. Some just aren't. These were the really good ones as far as I'm concerned - they were just sprouts perfectly crispy fried and with none of the stuff I don't want (ie no bacon, cheese, croutons, etc). And the amount served was very generous! Delish! I already knew what I wanted before we arrived - FRIED CHICKEN! I've had this restaurant bookmarked for quite a while mostly to try this chicken. I was not disappointed! It was so so good - super crispy, not greasy, not too salty, moist. Needless to say, I managed to eat all of it myself (minus the SMALL piece I cut off for The Hubs to taste). It came with two blueberry cornbread muffins and some slaw (I also ordered a side of steamed broccoli). The Hubs ordered a burger (I think it was the burger of the week) with slaw. Both of us really enjoyed the food. I can't say enough about their patio. Beautiful! The day we went, it was practically empty so it was pretty quiet and pleasant. I did mention to our server when we were sitting indoors (and noticed it was barely audible outdoors) that some music would be nice, though. Maybe they don't notice when they're working that it's off, but any night (and especially a quiet night) there needs to be music for ambience and so people that are dining feel comfortable talking. I REALLY hate sitting in a restaurant that sounds dead... Anyway, rant over. Our server was great. The restaurant (including the restroom) was clean. Will definitely return. read more

Terrible. The waitress was rude, acted like she didn't want to be there and very inpatient and with the attitude would you please order now. We were there at 5:30, wanted prime rib, couldn't get it until after 6:00. The fried chicken was the same thing, couldn't get it. I ordered the chicken sandwich, grilled. Not so good, the portion was tiny and the bun was really small. I felt like I had ordered a child's meal. The side was mac and cheese, had to pay extra for, a little spicy, didn't know they put tabasco sauce in the mac and cheese, and not very creamy like mac and cheese should be. I don't eat fried food. That's why I ordered the mac and cheese. Not very many choices to choose from. My friend ordered the pinnie sandwich. Mostly bread or what ever they use to make a pinnie. The other person ordered I think the steak salad, it looked delicious. I will give credit to the salad. Note sure what the 4th person ordered. No ambience at all, too loud and noisy to carry on a conversation. Never had live music. Suppose to start at 6:00 My dissatisfaction started with the waitress. That makes all the difference in the world. It's all about a welcome smile, good attitude, and can I help you? That was not her. There were 4 of us, all of us were very disgusted with the entire process from the beginning to the end. I would not recommend this restaurant at all. I have been going to 2 Penguins over the past five years. Overall 2 Penguins has good food and service. I love that it can easily accommodate a large group and has a great large selection of local beers. They sort the beers by category on the menu so it is easy to pick what you want. The service too, has always been solid and the servers are friendly. The food selection has everything from appetizers to entrees depending on what you are in the mood for. I especially like the chicken bites, really crispy chicken with delicious dipping sauces. The burgers and green chile also are some of my favorites there. I feel like the prices of their beers though have gone up so much in the past few years, even the tasters are very expensive. Sat down with my soon-to-be-seven daughter for her birthday dinner. Plenty of staff were roaming about. Almost 10 minutes in and not one greeting or acknowledgment. We got up and headed over to Cornerstar where another restaurant treated us well and showed much better service and respect. I've noticed this the last two or three times while eating at 2P - that servers and staff just don't care very much and it shows in their actions. Even though this has been a favorite of ours in the past, there are plenty of other restaurants that have better service and value in the area. What a shame. read more

The Santorini steak salad was so good!! Claire was our server and she was great! Very attentive, friendly and personable. We loved the outdoor patio and Claire had set up corn hole for us which was fun. We will definitely be back!! Meh....I stopped in the other night to meet friends....around 7pm on a weeknight....No bartender at the bar..rather than waiting for their return...I decided to use the bathroom...returned...no bartender....saw another worker and asked if I could get a beer. Stopped in because of the live music (Gregg Green). Pleasantly surprised. Menu looks fantastic with lots of yummy choices. We sat by the kitchen and watched all the food coming out. It all looked so good. Started with the Spinach dip and the French onion soup. Not a drinker but over 30 beer taps and a full bar. Spinach dip very creamy with a hint of jalapeño. Served with Pita. Though this was filling, we had to order the fried chicken. Expect to wait 20-30 minutes. Good choice. Crispy, but juicy. Available in Nashville Hot (but we chose the regular). Served with coleslaw and blueberry-cornbread muffins. Yum!! We'll be back next time we're in the hood. Soup served piping hot. Lots of onion. I can see why people like it here. Chill atmosphere and an excellent tap list. Service is friendly and the food is pretty good. Hubs and I shared the wings with classic buffalo and the Chef Alan's Nacho burger with tots. Both were solid choices. I found the wings to be a bit chewy, but we certainly cleaned the plate! I didn't care for the ranch or bleu cheese dressings. Not much flavor there. The burger was sloppy and pretty tasty. The patty was a bit small and it was definitely difficult to share (not their fault, obviously!) but we managed. The burger certainly has a kick! I would have liked a little more avocado (hard to find it in there) but it had basically an entire roasted jalapeno on top and the queso was spicy. Overall, I'd order this burger again. 2 Penguins is good. They have indoor and outdoor seating and also boast a game room. I have seen parties or get together's there quite often. The game room is in a good place where the noise from that room does not detract from your area in the front. Their outside yard is very beautiful and has lots of room for multiple parties. I don't know if they allow pets in the yard, that is something you would have to ask.The restaurant. As for the food... I would say that they make some of the best hamburgers that I have had! I rarely finish an entire hamburger. But when I'm at Two Penguins, I do. Great seasoned fries, big onion rings, etc. I don't have much to add when it comes to food.Because I rarely eat anything other than a hamburger there. I guess I'll have to go back. And try some more things. It's got a nice story that you can read on the menu.And I like the rustic look and feel of the place. Seems good for families and young couples, but not so much for fancy or very important dinners. They do have a bar, and I believe they do good drinks. We come here quite often with our daughtersl's family and with our best friends when they visit. There is a wide selection of local beers. The kids' menu is nice and the regular menu has something for everyone. I really enjoy their salads- especially the Power Salad. I also enjoy the pulled pork sandwich and the fish and chips. The service is always great and the food is always well prepared. There is plenty of seating. Don't let a full parking lot fool you! They also have an event room. From the selection of beers to the selection of menu items, you can find something perfect for you. I had a side salad that was delicious , and a Mediterranean Panini that was absolutely amazing! There are deals everyday on menu items, which means you can become a regular with a deal that works best for you and return every week! The service was outstanding, our server was absolutely awesome! I hadn't been to Two Penguins in a while so we decided to give it another try. I had also been to a large wedding rehearsal dinner there and it was good. They have a great patio area as well as private venue areas. So we missed happy hour by a few minutes, but they do have specials each weekday. We ordered the fried chicken sandwich which was really good - juicy and flavorful. The barbecued pulled pork, on the other hand, was overcooked, tough and chewy. The sauce on it was good, as was the cole slaw, but I sent it back and ordered the steak sandwich. I'm so glad I did! The pieces of steak were tender and flavorful and I really enjoyed it. I also tried the Tangerine Whip Cider- which I'll be looking for to buy for home. The restaurant was very loud and could use some basic maintenance (peeling wall murals) but clean. Our server, Carly, was a standout. She was friendly and helpful and very sweet. She turned a tough situation (sending back food) into an ok moment and never made me feel bad. 5 stars for Carly! Food was Ok, service on the patio was subpar. Server was friendly, she seemed overwhelmed and maybe new, I don't blame her. I blame the management for not having enough servers outside. There are too many good places around for me to have to wait for 30 minutes for someone to check in on me. I saw other patrons practically begging to get refills and pay. Came here for a late lunch in the middle of the week with a co-worker-- both our first time trying this place. We were seated immediately and instantly greeted by our server (Dan). He was super friendly, courteous of timing and provided exceptional service. This place should be the example of all other restaurants. We were here pre-COVID and remembered today that they have a large patio so came in today for lunch. Husband and I each had the fried chicken sandwich. This was very good, I'm thinking it's probably what I got last time I came here. Amazing food options with fast service and lots of seating options-indoor or outdoor!

We went here for a happy hour event and it was great. We had one of the back rooms and there were tons of appetizers and some games (foosball, pingpong, and shuffleboard). The food was good, especially the french fry bar and the wings. The environment was very welcoming and the staff was super friendly. Their beer selection is large and there were several wheat beers and hefeweizen on tap. I pass this place often driving on Arapahoe. It doesn't look like much from the back (the side that faces Arapahoe) by from the front it's got a nice big private parking lot and huge patio. Inside it's very comfortable but the patio, with the strings of party lights and cool evening breezes filtered through the trees makes it even more inviting than inside. I was in the mood to get out so we went here tonight for a late dinner. The Mac & Cheese was calling my name. They have toppings you can pick with it. I mixed it up and asked for it to be topped with pulled pork (not one of the standard offerings) Our server Alvin ("like the chipmunk") was accommodating. It came with a side so I got fresh cut vegetables. I have been here for many events, so decided to give the restaurant a try. We went for happy hour and we're very pleasantly surprised! They had a wonderful musician and we sat in a booth in the back of the restaurant and were able to have a discussion while listening to the music. Great atmosphere, wonderful service, and the food and drinks we very tasty. I had the hummus platter, which came with their homemade Roasted Red Pepper Hummus, veggies and pita. The hummus was very good and had just the right amount of red pepper flavor to not be overpowering. My friend had a steak salad, which she loved. The steak was perfectly cooked medium rare, came with a side of the hummus (so I didn't have to share mine :)) and was a portion big enough that she had enough left over for lunch the next day. I have to admit the only reason we ended up here was because I randomly saw "Penguin" for the name of a restaurant on Google Maps. I went in with a lot of excitement around the penguin part of it and had lower expectations for the rest, but I was pleasantly surprised! It was early for dinner, but there were a couple of people eating inside and a few tables full outside. We grabbed a spot outside a bit before their live music started. My fiancé got a beer and the fish and chips and said both were delicious. I got the crispy thai chicken salad and a side of tots and the salad was AMAZING. It came with this siracha peanut dressing on the side that had a kick at the very end. The tots were perfectly crispy and went well dipped in the salad dressing. The owner was kind and cared to respond, so I am updating the rating. And this was the first experience we have had here since moving to the area a few years ago. I ordered a grilled avocado and chicken salad and the lettuce was incredibly wilted. I picked out half of the lettuce and then I finally said something. I offered to use the same chicken and just asked for new lettuce. When it came back out there was grilled avocados - which made me realize that first salad didn't even have the avocados. The waitress said, 'there is a lot of green on the salad so sometimes they forget.' My lettuce on the second salad was just as bad. They didn't open a new bag of lettuce, forgot the avocados entirely on the first one and the waitress never offered to make the situation better. We paid full price and tipped her. That will be my last time at 2 Penguins and we are local regulars. The server seemed inconvenienced by their poor quality food and my husband's burger bun was stale, which he only told me afterwards. This is a solid place to grab a beer and food in the area! I can't believe I've driven past this place so many times before actually stopping in. We came on a Friday and they had live music. We were in the room with music so it was a little loud and we had to yell to hear each other, but I think it's a lot more quiet in the main dining room. The musician playing was so good, and really made it a cool experience. I was driving, so no drinking for me, but their beer list is expansive with several sour options. I had the Nashville hot chicken sliders and these babies were spicy. The chicken was super crispy and I love the spice level! We also go the Brussels which were a bit greasy for me, but not bad. This place was an event center changed to a tap house with a restaurant. Totally works for me! I've been here many times during the summer and love, love, love the outdoor patio. It's dog friendly and they usually have cornhole or other games to play, but I come for the atmosphere, brews and good food. My daughter is checking it out for a low-key wedding venue in the fall and has determined this place as a great option. The staff is attentive and really personable so coming here is a pleasure. I do wish they were more attentive to the dirty windows and doors as it detracts from the experience. Makes me think what other things aren't cleaned well!! Eek! read more

Tried here today. A wonderful place of quiet ambience (@3pm on a Wed) to enjoy great food and beers galore. Enjoyed a fried chicken sandwich (recipe being a strong point for them) and my wife had the BBQ sandwich which was very good (but be careful if you don't like the heat of the sauce). We will be back as the waitress was exceptional in her service and friendliness. Reason I dropped a star is because the chicken breast was over fried. Didn't send it back but recommend you are specific that the freshly fried breast be golden brown. read more

Oh my goodness. This place has a Mediterranean panini that could make me cry it is so delicious. The bartender recommended adding chicken to it as it is a veggie item. But its really unnecessary. It's so delightful on its own. Comes with a stack of sliced pickles which is fabulous. Comes with a side, I get the streamed broccoli which is out of this works in its simplicity. Great French fries. Thick and crispy. Truly my favorite style of fry. But I always get the broccoli insured as its so outstanding. Nice beer selection. Enjoyable atmosphere. Easy to get right in to. Delicious Brussel sprouts. Average and ho hum nachos. But that is just fine. Once you try the panini you'll never eat anything else besides that again. Nice wait staff. Very mild speed in this facility. Wouldn't come here if I were in a hurry. Nice place to just sit down and enjoy without a hurry. It is closed on Sundays which I find to be a huge bummer for me as I work nearby and am always craving on Sunday. Great for the staff to get a nice day off. 2 penguins used to be an absolute favorite of mine. The food and drinks have always been good. I loved the live music on the patio when the weather is nice. Staff can use a little improvement but nothing that can't be worked on. However, on three separate occasions now, my girlfriends and I have been asked to leave well before the posted hours. For reference, Monday hours say open until 9 pm. We arrived at 7 pm, ordered drinks, appetizers, dinner and desserts. Around 8, we were told that the bar and kitchen were going to be closing down. Then, at about 8:15, the staff started to shut off the music and televisions. When approached by what I assume was the owner this time at 8:30 (again, posted closing hours are 9 pm) he was pretty rude to us. We will find some where else to have our child free ladies night if we will continue to be shoved out well before closing. read more
