My Mother's Steak Frites
Sandra K.

Charming French spot with a surprisingly extensive brunch menu. One downside was the lack of a coffee menu or alternative milk options, which felt like a miss. The staff was very kind, though service was a bit slow--likely due to a large group dining at the same time, so we gave them the benefit of the doubt. That said, the food delivered where it mattered most. I ordered the steak frites and the flavor was fantastic.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at bistronomic we were welcomed to buy the owner, and she was very attentive to all of the guests throughout our time dining bear. She would constantly check on you along with all the weight staff. We went during brunch and so I had the brunch prefixed menu which included soup, du jour croque Monsieur and homemade portiferoles. All were lovely and for my beverage I had the Au Soleil. The restaurant was neat and clean. The bathrooms were neat and clean, and the vibe was completely cozy. I definitely will be back. This is a great dining option for friends who want to catch up and family dining.

So impressed by the cozy atmosphere of this place. A cute French restaurant that serves up a delicious brunch surrounded by lots of lights and soft music. Service was friendly and loved that they had a coat check as we came in winter. Service was excellent. Food came out at perfect temperature and tasted excellent. The carrot soup was TO DIE FOR. My water always stayed filled to the brim as well, which was a plus. 10/10 experience!

I met up with a friend (a local Chicagoan) on my very first trip to Chicago. Having travelled to Paris the previous summer, we decided to relive our experience by dining at a French Bistro - and Bistronomic was her restaurant of choice. I made a reservation a week in advance via OpenTable. When I arrived at the restaurant, I observed that Bistronomic seemed more upscale and refined than the neighborhood bistros we dined at in Paris - yet still inviting. While everything looked delicious on the menu, I decided to follow my friend's lead and order the prix fixe dinner, which includes a soup or salad, entree, and dessert. This turned out to be an excellent value - green bean salad with goat cheese and hazelnut was refreshing and decadent at the same time. The salmon was cooked perfectly - crispy on the outside and flaky + buttery on the inside - and served over a bed of quinoa with a sweet and tangy sauce. I devoured everything on the plate. Dessert was baked Alaska - while decent, the first two courses were the highlights of the meal. Overall, our meal at Bistronomic was a lovely way to begin my first trip to Chicago.

Always a wonderful dinner. One of my favorites is simple. The tuna tartare as the appetizer and the duck confit as my entree. Delightful!

My husband and I had a staycation in the area and decided to try Bistronomic for brunch. I booked the reservation the morning of, but you likely could easily do a walk in for brunch with limited/no wait. Immediately after stepping in, the host welcomed us with a smiling face and made us feel right at home. We both had a busy day ahead, so we didn't opt for the unlimited mimosas ($24.95 as of Jan 2025), but it is a good deal if there is any chance you may have more than 1 mimosa. We each ordered 1 mimosa. The mimosa was great and also more bubbly forward : ) The eggs benedict ended up being an ideal choice and I liked that it wasn't overly heavy. We decided to share the pancakes as a dessert to end the meal. The pancakes are so fluffy and addicting. I would get those again in a heartbeat. I heard they have jazz live music during dinnertime on some specific nights and their dinner menu in general looks fantastic. A future visit to Bistronomic is needed.

Everything about Bistronomic is amazing. What makes the experience so great... the people! From calling the restaurant to seeing if they had a dog friendly patio to every single person we met... so much kindness. Genuinely nice people. This is an intimate location so reservations highly recommended. It was pretty busy when we came. Easy to snag a reservation on OpenTable. My husband and I got there a little early. We didn't mind hanging out while we waited for our friends. They were so kind to us and sooooo kind to our pup. Once we were seated, we had a cozy patio table which was heated! So fabulous! We started off with cocktails. I got the bistronomic. So good! I love a sparkling wine cocktail! My husband got the Kentucky cousin which was similar to an old fashion. We started off with the French cheese plate. You can select one, three or four cheeses. We ordered four cheeses and shared with our friends. So delicious! For dinner, I ordered the salmon and my husband got the venison loin. Both were off of the specials menu. Highly recommend both. So tasty. On top of that, our plates were beautiful. Bistronomic did an amazing job with presentation. For dessert, we ordered the chocolate profiteroles. Our friends ordered the baked Alaska. Both came with ice cream which I love off of.

Having walked by Bistronomic 300+ times on my daily four mile walks through the Gold Coast, I finally said to my wife, "We've gotta try this place, their doing some interesting things here"! So, with one of our sons in tow, we took the plunge and we were not disappointed; we just had a remarkable dinner for three at this lovely restaurant. First and foremost, this place is VERY French - in a good way: The menu The art on the walls The flag of France front and center The Chef The Maitre D and last but certainly not least - The Cuisine We ordered: * Two Raclette Bugers that had so much good "Stuff" packed into this gem it made our eyes roll * A rather large Salade Nicoise which was a complete meal in itself * A rich bowl of French onion soup that had the onions so caramelized it was delectable * A tall Stein of 1664 Beer that want perfect with my burger Everything was excellent! Their service was built on the theme that your time with them was going to be a meaningful and delightful experience; and it was, exactly that. Bistronomic is exactly 6 short blocks from where we live, so we can definitely count on many dinners here in the future!

Beside items pictured. There was a salmon tartare...not a fan as too much onion. Shared Baked Alaska was delicious. Great service and wonderful waiter. Expensive across the board. A surcharge was added that we had not realized. Many Chicago restaurants do this and can be removed if you are aware. The prize fix menu is the way to go if items appeal. We did not but next time!

I came for brunch last Sunday and had a great time. The hostess made an effort to pronounce my full name, which gave me a great first impression. She recommended that we enjoy the weather, so we decided to sit outside. The staff is very courteous, ensuring a delightful experience and great food. I indulged in their affordable and delicious bottomless mimosa. Excellent option for spending quality time with friends, celebrating special occasions, or enjoying a delightful brunch.

Espresso martini, add Baileys

We went for lunch, as our first meal in Chicago. Man, they set the bar HIGH! Our first round of drinks were a wine and cocktail. My Riesling was good, a little on the sweet side. We started with the charcuterie, with 3 meats as well as the 2 options of cheese. I described what types I like and don't, and our server chose for us. Thank you so much for doing that! Your selections were delicious and perfect. My husband ordered the French Onion soup and said that it was unlike anything he's ever had - amazing! The charcuterie and cheese was quite filling, so we shared the steak & frites. It was out of this world! The steak and sauce were sooooo yum. The fries are the best that I've ever had. I overheard another table order an espresso so I finished with an espresso martini, add baileys for some creaminess. If you get the chance ro eat here, do it! The food and service were of a different level.

KELLY M.

Will come back to try their regular menu and recommend to family and friend to come to try this place.

Delightful bar area.
Bonnie S.

The food, as always, was perfect. I had the salmon special for the evening and the sauce with truffles and spring green peas was succulent. I started with a soft cheese from French and warm artisanal bread...accompanied by a delightfully light French wine. Ambience and music sheer perfection.

Unfortunately Machine was not open, which is downstairs from this place, so we went here. Usually there is a bouncer outside, covering both places, but no one was at the door so me and The Queen walked upstairs. The bouncer was upstairs and saw us come in, so he asked for ID. He explained that everyone gets card before they come in, which is not a issue for me. The overall vibe, for me, was definitely a frat hangout vibe. There are arcade games all over the place and cutesy names for beers and cocktails, like the Froot Loops (vodka, coriander honey, oat milk, shochu, saline, milk carton, and froot loops). Man I do not do cocktails and this is the reason why. There is too much going on in that glass for me to deal with. Prices for cocktails range from $14-$15. BFF #1 got a vodka soda for $13, but looking at the size of the glass, it was on the small side. BFF #1 said it was on the weak side. I was happy to hear that there was prosecco, so I got that. The Doctor showed up and got a beer. The selection of beers was limited from what I could see on the wall, maybe there was a list someone else behind the bar. The bartender was a really sweet, she was all smiles and kept calling me baby, which was so funny to me. I tipped her well because she was great on them pours of prosecco. We did not do food as we were heading to Club Lago for dinner and I didn't realize that they had food until I checked into Yelp and saw the online menu. The Queen actually went to a DJ set here with Roosevelt, I believe, and said it was a good event. Not a place I would normally hang out in, but I can see the appeal for folks in their 20s as I would definitely say outside of The Queen, the three of us were the oldest folks in there. Lots of people taking Instagram photos and posing or making short videos with those ring lights. I imagine it can get super loud when it is busy, but that is a vibe for some folks. I would say if that is your thing, this is the place for you.

I loved the subtle yet not overpowering smokiness of the mezcal in the Oaxaca. Neither were too sweet and you could really taste the high quality bourbon. This year I was so excited to bring my family and Ema was the only restaurant in Chicago I couldn't wait for them to try. I booked it as our final meal in Chicago and lay awake at 4am being so disappointed in my choice. Our server's greeting was monotone and emotionless, which I realize now, would be foreshadowing the meal to come. Ordered the following 1) Smoky eggplant- arrived appearing as an unappetizing curdled purple grey mush. This was the worst tasting baba ghanouj I have ever eaten. It was acidic and had the texture of cottage cheese. The only redeeming thing about this appetizer was the warm naan. 2) house made stratciatella with side of green falafels- The stratciatella was bland and stringy. I would not order this dish expecting the creamy interior of typical burrata. However, if you like string cheese mixed with heavy cream- you may enjoy this dish. The tomatoes and basil were good. 3) chicken kefta- kefta was bland, rice even blander . 4) short rib with polenta- bland and the meat and polenta had the same texture, which seems impossible but somehow the plating was over complicated by the addition of mushy dates and grapes. 5) buttered noodles- my 8 year old ordered this. It was decent with a good amount of Parmesan and cooked perfectly al dente. By the end of the meal, I was so shocked by how terrible the food was I didn't even want to order the sticky date cake that was my main purpose for returning to this restaurant.
