We found this place for a nice dinner bite. We saw the prix fixe menu and thought this would be the best way to try many different dishes. I started with the escargots. They were fried so a different cook, but perfect flavor and the black garlic aioli was the perfect match. My fiancé ordered the tuna crust and I almost wish I would've ordered that as well. So fresh and flavorful. For my main I ordered the mussels and he ordered the gnocchi. You really can't go wrong with anything at this place. The food was absolutely phenomenal and the bartender was awesome. Great place for food, drinks and great company.

When they said "Olive Oil Cake", I was unsure. But when this arrived, it was as delicious as it looks!

Booked a reservation here for our 5th Anniversary. This was a great place for that special occasion, they really made us feel like guests and were very welcoming and accommodating from the time we walked in the door. I reserved a patio table, but when we arrived, the sun was beating down on that patio and it was fairly warm out there. The hostess offered and indoor table which we were happy to agree to. The menu is short, but offers a great variety of dishes to accommodate everyone. We chose the Prix Fixe menu just because we liked the options and the idea of a 3 course meal. The roasted chicken was amazing. I know, hard to imagine but it was literally exactly what I would imagine would be served in the French countryside. It was gloriously moist, and had a buttery, citrus-y flavor of classic French cooking. It was also served with the most delicious mushrooms I've ever had, and I'm generally not a huge fan of mushrooms. The dessert option was an Olive Oil Cake. I was unsure at first, but the description and the berries put me over. It was great! The portions were perfect, we left satisfied, but not uncomfortable and were able to enjoy a night of music after our dinner. Bonus. The bartender was fantastic and willing to discuss the cocktails and the ingredients at length. Which we took full advantage of. Will for sure keep this one on the short list for future special occasions.

Exquisite, elegant food in a quaint, French-inspired setting with genuinely friendly and knowledgeable service. I went with the prix fixe menu, which included a starter, entrée, and dessert. The first course was the Parmesan soup - a creamy soup with rich Parmesan flavor, topped with sugar snap peas, pancetta, and croutons. It was comforting, flavorful, and well-balanced. For the main course, I had the roasted chicken. It was simply delicious - a tender, perfectly cooked chicken quarter with au jus, mushrooms, a smooth purée, and asparagus. The flavors were clean and well-executed. Dessert was a pistachio financier that was light and not overly sweet. The raspberry sorbet on the side added a nice tart contrast and made for a refreshing end to the meal. My husband had the special -- a ribeye prepared in a prime rib style. It was very tender, with a great crust, and came with crispy pommes frites. He ordered the Pain Perdu - incredible. Salted caramel, gooey and just down right yummy. This was the kind of meal where you take your time, have a good conversation, and leave feeling happy and full.

We were able to be seated on the patio on a gorgeous Friday night at 7:30PM. We were worried about not having a reservation so we were clearly very pleased by this! We just had drinks & an app before our dinner reservation across the street, but we were honestly a tad disappointed that we weren't eating here after tasting how amazing the tuna crudo was! The martinis were very fairly priced and had blue cheese olives-- my favorite! We will most definitely be back for dinner and will be asking to sit in Dylan's section again.

You truly feel like you've stumbled into a quaint bistro in France here, the service was impeccable and we felt ever taken care of. You must start with the financiers and French onion soup - both incredible. My boyfriend got the scallops for his main, they had a beautiful sauce with them. And don't skip the dessert!

Charming French bistro. We came for dinner right after we had that crazy snowy, icy days. Of course, it took a while to get a parking spot and when I say this, I meant, to drive up an iceberg and hope your car can make it off of it without incident. My husband dropped me off by the door and I came in, was immediately seated (we had reservations), and the waiter came immediately but said he will be back when I told him my husband was still trying to park. He brought waters to the table but patiently waited. The tables were typical of French bistro I've been to in the area which were on the smaller, dainty end. Unless you're in a larger party then you get a normal sized table. I love the vibe of the place, the oversized glass windows, the fanciful curtains, and the overall brightness of the decor. Very refreshing. When my husband finally came, we ordered some cocktails. I tried their french 75 and he, the melon pisco sour. Both were good, solid cocktails. We opted for the prixe fixe and started with the French onion soup. Since this is a French bistro, is it appropriate to just say onion soup? I'm not sure but it was delicious, cheesey and full of flavors. A perfect start to our meal. Also doubled as a sure way to warm up. I then opted for the scallops for my entrée which was served with some roasted cauliflower. Very good. I really had no complaints. To finish off the meal, I had the chocolate tort. Again, chef's kiss. Needless to say, our service was wonderful. The staff were very patient, quick, and friendly. I could not ask for a better experience and I can't wait to return!

Went here to celebrate my husband's birthday and it was such a pleasant experience. Right off the bat, this place is fancy so be prepare for the fare. We did the special 3-course meal for $50 per person and it was a pretty good deal, cheaper than if you were to order from the menu. I love the setting and the vibe of the restaurant. It's classy but also cozy and romantic perfect for date nights. I think the food is good but I don't know if I'm fully convinced. The roast chicken was well seasoned but the texture was dry. I wouldn't recommend ordering that. The gnocci was really good! However, would it justify the price? I don't know.

Bistro La Floraison is a must try! It's delectable French food makes it worth making a reservation for. The place gets packed on the weekends so a reservation is highly recommended. We tried the French Onion Financiers - there were delicate and delicious! The duck liver mousse is my absolute favorite and a must try! It's so creamy and doesn't taste gamey at all. For the mains, we tried the Mussels, Parisian Gnocchi and the Monkfish Veronique. Our favorites were the Mussels and the Gnocchi. They were both flavorful and well made. For dessert, we had Pain Perdu which was a perfect end to the meal. In addition to the food, we tried a few cocktails - the Toronto was our favorite! Our server was very attentive and patient with us. She walked through the menu with us and gave us recommendations as well.

Delightful. Yummy. Great service with a sweet gal who was conscious of our conversation and tried her best not to interrupt while providing high quality service. The food was delicious - we did the fixed menu and I could not have locked my plates any cleaner. I'm not usually a fan of gnocchi but the dish came with so many yummy vegetables I decided to order it. I was so impressed. Their gnocchi was crispy on the outside almost like tater tots and boy was it good. I am still dreaming about the chocolate cake for dessert. I'll be back for another pleasant evening this home-like, welcoming bistro!

Lovely French restaurant on Wydown in Clayton. If you remember Bar La Frère, it's exactly the same as it was back then we had a reservation. It is a very small resto do you'll need one. I suppose because it was so frigid that night, people didn't want to leave so we got seated a half hour past our reservation. The manager was very nice, apologized and sent us complimentary Gougères. That was nice!! They were perfectly made and were délicieux! Our server was wonderful. Very attentive and asked if we had any food allergies. The menu of course is tres Français. We had a bistro burger, Parisian gnocchi and roasted chicken. All well made and came hot to the table. The French onion soup was so good. Rich broth and a crunchy cheesy toasty top. Perfect on a cold snowy night. Very good cocktail and wine list. French 75 was great. You can order from the regular menu or they have a prix fixe menu Tuesday-Saturday. Spritz hour is their happy hour and it's just that for one hour between 5-6. They have build your own spritz cocktails and served by the piece apps. Also a burger and Tour de France (a sampler of all their apps. Great place, fantastic service. Oh and get the chocolate torte! It is heaven on a plate. Not heavy or dense. Just perfect. Street parking with one really small public parking lot so be prepared to hoof it. Cheers!

Food: 5 Stars Service: 5 Stars If you're interested in a little bit of French magic in the kitchen, be sure to visit Bistro la Floraison for an evening to remember. Reservations book quick, so you'll want to plan well in advance to secure a spot. Street parking is usually available near the restaurant. I love that much of the decor was retained from the Bar les Frère days. The intimate and elegant dining space make for a great date night. We loved our server, who from the get go, was warm and welcoming. He had a great sense of humor and overall, we loved his presence and appreciated his suggestions for the evening. The restaurant boasts a short menu, but the dishes presented are anything but. You'll come across beautiful flavors and a variety of textures, creating a sort of magic in your mouth. Some our favorites include: - Devilled Eggs: Golden Kaluga caviar, smoked creme fraiche, chives - French Onion Financiers: Almond, thyme oil, comte cheese - Steak Tartare: Steamed egg yolk, crispy shallots, smoked bone marrow vinaigrette, salt and vinegar potato chips - Main Bouchot Mussels: Spanish chorizo, sofrito, white wine and saffron broth, toasted baguette - Chestnut Mont Blanc: Pedro Jimenez sherry, chocolate ice cream, mascarpone cremeaux Tips: Ask for any specials that evening and order it. You won't be disappointed. Cocktails are alluring and will have you lingering around for more.

This is a quaint little spot that packs an amazing punch on flavor and quality. I had the Dame de la Nuit to drink. I love that it came with a sidecar of sparkling wine to add at will. We started with the duck patte, steak tartar and fried oysters. The duck patte was the perfect consistency served on thick bread with an apricot dollop that really kicked off the flavor. The steak tartar was served with chips. It was a simple but delicious dish. The oysters were fried to perfection and melted in your mouth. They disappeared quickly! For dinner, we shared the gnocchi plate and the monkfish. The gnocchi was slightly pan fried on the outside and had a wonderful flavor. It was like tiny pillows in my mouth. The monkfish was really wonderful. This is a more dense fish, much like lobster and it was cooked to perfection. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend for a date night or special night out!

Clayton was busy, so street parking was hard to find. Once seated, we were greeted with friendly service and were brought water. I ordered a ginger beer with cranberry juice added to it for a refreshing mocktail. We ordered the Squeaky Cheese to start, the golden-brown cheese curds were gooey and had the perfect crunch. They were served with marinara and a serrano dill aioli. The aioli had just the right amount of spice, complementing the dill flavor. The marinara was saucy and also good. I ordered the Bacon Jam Burger with fries. The burger was juicy, sweet, and had a nice crunch. The bacon jam was subtle, but it enhanced the overall flavor. My only complaint was that the bottom bun came out a bit soggy causing the burger to lose structure as I ate it. The fries were thin and crunchy! It's a bit, and mostly the kitchen and bar back it up. Nevertheless, we arrived to a full room, hour wait for a table, but we fortunately arrived to snag the last first come patio table. The bar was also full, by the way, which felt neighborhood like, people clearly like this place during happy hour. The old fashioned makes the case: Old Grand-Dad Bonded, pickled rye, cognac, butterscotch bitters. Two whiskeys and a bitter you won't find at an actual dive. Rich, a little sweet. The harissa deviled eggs keep going -- fried shallots, roasted red peppers, cilantro, marinated tomato jam. You know, just like the old dive with the $1 PBR.Deviled eggs for people that don't like deviled eggs. However, we love deviled eggs...foreshadowing. The short ribs are the headline -- fall-apart tender over whipped potatoes substantial enough to stand up to the meat, gravy spot on. Eats like a perfectly executed roast dinner. The brie burger is the sneaky second hit, genuinely decadent, bacon with the cheese melting into the beef. The service was good and pleasant and that felt more like dive-friendly, where you might expect a wine "bar" to be snooty or full of themselves. 4.4 Stars Picking Nits: hip deviled eggs that reach past what they can hold. Tomato jelly on top is a lot going on, in the wrong way, and the egg disappears under it. These are trying to be hip deviled eggs more than they're trying to be good deviled eggs. Every ambitious kitchen has one plate that tries too hard; this appears to be one. A 5 needs those eggs landing, in the same way the entrees excelled. Regardless, we'll be back.

That's the vibe. We started on the front patio on a Friday night and quickly realized we'd made a mistake. The doors to the interior were open and the music -- a rock-forward playlist that night -- was loud enough that we considered bailing. Our server, was unbothered when we asked to move up to the rooftop. Where we met with a new bartender and server, London, who rolled with it, got us resettled, and from that point on the night was great. London was clearly handling the bar and most of the rooftop tables, but she was attentive throughout, and made eye contact, which seems a near miracle from many 20-something these days. Bumping the score up just for the flexibility on the table move alone. The food: crab cakes were genuinely good, not life-changing, but well above the weak-crab-cake bar that exists in most of the world, served simply with capers and a small salad. I went off-script and ordered the wagyu burger medium rare with fontina (London mentioned cheddar is the more common pick, but the Fontina offerd a great alternative). The burger was deeply flavorful and cooked exactly right, but here's my one real note for the kitchen: toast the brioche bun. Wagyu medium-rare puts out a lot of juice, and an untoasted bun loses its structural integrity about three bites in. A quick toast would let the bun keep some additional integrate and keep up with the perfectly cooked beef. The pom buff were great, the best elevated patato tots you may come by. Beyond what we ordered, the Greek salad is a longtime go-to -- chopped, with grape leaves and pita, available in a small or large, and easily dressed up into a light meal with or without adding some protein or can be share as a self-dress bruschetta appetizer for the group if you ask for extra bread. The cheese boards are also a reliable pick. The wine list is extensive (it's a wine bar, after all), but they don't sniff at cocktails -- I had a solid fine old fashioned, and my wife shared had a Malbec that paired well with everything. Lots of gluten-free options across the menu, too. What Sasha's gets right is that it has refused to become precious. "Wine bar" reads as pretentious to some people, but this place runs as a neighborhood spot. You'll see college kids dressed way down, couples on dates dressed way up, Hawaiian shirts, oversized sweaters, the full range. It's the kind of place where you can split a bottle with your girlfriends, meet a date for drinks and a quick bite without committing to a full dinner, or roll in for brunch on the weekend. Different times of day, different vibes -- always approachable. 4.7 stars. Loses a few tenths for the front-patio music situation and the weak burger bun, but more than makes up for it on flexibility, food, and overall hang factor.

After explaining we'd just be there briefly for a drink, we were allowed to sit there, but the interaction felt dismissive. From that point on, the experience felt rushed. We were pushed to order quickly, our menus were taken right away, and the check came almost immediately. It made what should have been a relaxed stop feel uncomfortable and transactional. I looked up and saw the sign.. "WINE"!! So, I walked in (but I didn't enter the front door). To enter you can open the large black door (no signs and no window), just a heavy looking bold, black door! I went through the side glass door (it made sense). The other door looked shut. But it isn't!! Parking Off street and on-street parking ***The YELP app is being finicky... my photos haven't been posted and I've already uploaded, commented and erased them from my phone. ( so you'll have to go visit)!! Ambiance Dine in or out. If you want a sip with a friend, this is a nice enough establishment to do so. If you want a small eventful place for celebrating, this is a nice touch. Upstairs with rows and rows of adult beverages (after all it is an adult beverage store) which also is an event space. There are 4 plexiglass squares cut into the floor for an opportunity to look into the event space downstairs. Food I tried the small charcuterie board ($25) which was enough for 2. I was able to make some substitutions. Bar I chose a couple beverage selections and was provided a wine glass and a cocktail (of sorts) glass. My guest purchased Bloody Mary fixings' (vodka and the Bloody Mary mixer). The manager poured the beverage for her (cup of ice, etc.). The bar has straight adult beverages you can order. No Cocktail mixing here, purchase what you like from the rows and rows of beverages. Store There are some rolls of meats and snacks to be purchased as well for you to take or go. Event space: Walking down the huge, wooden stairs and metal wire handrail, you are "entranced" into a quiet, sexy getaway basement, complete with large expansive bar which lights up (top and front) to showcase its amber and honey colors. Bring your guests to this lovely spot. No cigar smoking (although it seems like it's a cigar spot, the manager has made it clear...NO SMOKING of any kind)! This is not the place for that. You can order charcuterie trays from them and also bring in your own catered food. So, RENT this place out and please your guests without breaking the bank! Exterior It looks intimidating but in actuality it's a FUN place with.. a 3-hole green miniature golf pad with a space of turf! How fun. And 3-permanently placed, tall, round tables. There are colorful cushions inside (to bring outside and place on the concrete wall). The putters and flags are sat next to the door. Summary Visit! Say hi! Purchase something from $3.99 up to over $1,000. Relax and enjoy!

It was decorated beautifully and there was ample space for people to mingle and sit. While our event offered wine, they have a bar upstairs for other drinks/snacks. I got a class of champagne that was pretty good but nothing to write home about. The highlight of my night was playing on the putter they gave outside. Overall, it seems like a great place to pick up a bottle of wine or gather for happy hour.

To sum up our evening at Il Palato in one word I would have to to say "wow". From the moment we…read morewalked in, we were impressed by the warm and intimate atmosphere. I always feel frustrated in restaurants when I struggle to hear the people at my table talking. The noise level was well controlled, which is a rare treat. The service was top-notch. Our waiter was an absolute gentleman and was perfect in his timing and approach. There were separate servers for water and runners from the kitchen for the food. Nothing sitting under a warmer in this restaurant. Even the water tasted like it was perfectly filtered. (I'm a water snob and don't drink tap water) It was served chilled with no ice. Who knew you could take a glass of water up a notch! The restaurant manager made sure to say hi to every patron and paid meticulous attention to the flow of the evening. All this and I haven't even started on how amazing the food tasted. I got the halibut and I absolutely cannot recommend it highly enough. Extensive wine collection to indulge even the most refined palette. This restaurant fell in the category of fine dining, but I felt the prices were reasonable given the quality and atmosphere we enjoyed. I definitely have paid more at other restaurants and not had nearly as good of an experience. I'd give 10 stars if I could and I am definitely a picky foodie. Fabulous find and a memorable evening! Thank you Il Palato!! (I was so wrapped up in my elegant evening I neglected to take any pictures. Guess I'll have to go back I'll edit my review to add some impressive images)

The interior is elegant and upscale with ambient lighting as well. Service was impeccable, they paid very close attention to all of our needs. We got the crispy eggplant appetizer, which was delicious; it was very crispy and tomato sauce it came with tasted so fresh. For main entrees, I got their risotto special, which came with shrimp and scallops. I personally thought it was good, but not great. The risotto tasted a bit salty for my preference and scallops did not have much flavor. My fiancé got the ravioli, which we both liked- the pasta was perfect texture and the cream filling was delicious. They do give complimentary bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar to dip.

I have been here before, but I haven't reviewed it. This place is fantastic!! Its located in…read moredowntown Clayton and has valet parking right in front of the restaurant. Its relatively small inside, but cozy. A nice touch - is they offer a free coat check, so you don't have to carry your bulky coats to the table. The service here is really outstanding- but I think a huge benefit is they cook seed oil free- meaning everything is cooked either in butter or olive oil. They source local ingredients- rotate lots of different seasonal specials and also have a chefs tasting menu. You can really tell they care about food quality here. Many of us did go with the Chefs Tasting menu which they are also very flexible about- meaning if a special isn't on the menu you can subsitute it, etc. You truly could put together your own tasting menu. They start the table with crackers and a blue cheese souffle. Then they also offer a plain bread with butter which is amazing! Such a nice touch! Then we got stone crab as an appetizer - which was a special and came with a mustard dipping sauce!! It was great- I just wished they cracked the stone crab a bit more as it was hard to get into. We got a variety of menu and special dishes- Tuna Tartare, Soup of the day- Mushroom, Mixed Green Salad, Spanish Octopus, Pasta special, Sea Bass special, Missouri Trout, and Porkbelly Special. We also had a Chai Creme Brulee for dessert. Everything tasted fresh and high quality. This is one of my favorite spots! I also love how they will bag your leftovers and leave them up front by the coat check so you grab it on the way out. They think of all the little details here. Overall experience 5/5.

After a whole lot of research, knowing I wanted scallops for a main, I chose The Crossing. Our meal started with a complimentary offering of their bleu cheese soufflé with crisps and bread service--both delicious. I enjoyed a glass of their current "by the glass" Chardonnay, and my boyfriend got a Yeungling (poured table-side). I got my scallops, as planned, which certainly did not disappoint. Cooked perfectly, fresh and delicious. The wilted romaine seemed odd at first but totally rounded out the potato mash at the base, with the absolute flavor-bomb of the shiitakes. Highly recommend this dish any day! My boyfriend opted for the NY Strip; we both agreed it was one of the best steaks we'd ever had; seasoned perfectly and cooked masterfully. There was a slight mishap whereby a food runner gave him a tasting portion of the strip (likely meant for another table); we first didn't realize and were very disappointed with the size. However, without a word from us, the chef came out and personally explained, apologized, and corrected--I didn't snap a photo of the full portion when it came out, but it was perfect and much more what we expected. That brings me to the service, which was spectacular. Several staff members gave us a personal touch and they all seemed to be genuinely happy to be there. The space is beautiful and intimate. It was moderately busy and still quiet. The atmosphere feels upscale, but not pretentious or unapproachable. This place was on my radar for a long time, and I sure wish I'd gone long ago. If you're thinking about it, just go!! I can't wait to come back and try the chefs tasting menu--thank you for a wonderful dinner!
