Went there with my wife, for the first time, to the Overland location. First off, Haileigh A. was our server, and took care of us like we were her favorite, and only customers. Even IF the food had been terrible (it most certainly was not!), we'd still be gushing about how well Haileigh took care of us. Alas, the food was amazing, delicious, and served in gargantuan portions, each of which could have fed a small crew of lumberjacks. Came in on Saturday morning was told by the hostess it would be a 30 minute wait. After waiting 45 minutes I asked the hostess if we would be seated anytime soon just because we did have a toddler with us who was getting a little hangry. Hostess then proceeded to tell me it was actually an hour wait. This was a bit frustrating to hear I would've appreciated a little bit of honesty. This is our first brunch spot to try since moving to Meridian. And while it had quite the wait- totally worth it. It's in a strip mall full of some creative eatery concepts- but you can tell this is the standout. I got the ginormous chicken on a biscuit with Hog style fries, husband got "The Hog". I am now sufficiently stuffed like a hog and barely got through 1/3 of my plate. Husband did slightly more damage, but he has plenty of hog potatoes to take for lunch tomorrow. It's worth waiting in line for. We'd come back- they have plenty more to try. And who doesn't love a place with signs saying "Don't go Bacon My heart"... read more

We went to Biscuit & Hogs today because my wife wanted to go there for Valentine's. The first time we were in the food was pretty good, but today negated all of that. First off, our waitress Monica was very friendly and very attentive, but even her wonderful disposition and her attentiveness could not make up with the horrid food quality today. I ordered the Smokehouse, which sounded very good on the menu -- it was anything but... It was lukewarm went it showed up, the eggs were actually cold and the brisket and bacon were warmish but dry, tough and way over cooked -- kind of like meat that's been sitting under a heat lamp for untold hours. The brisket bites and the bacon didn't even vaguely taste like the deliciousness that was served to us on our first visit. There were some onion straws, and cheese that hadn't even attempted to melt as the eggs and meat were simply that cool, that looked to have been thrown on as an afterthought. The fried potatoes looked absolutely nothing like what is shown on the menu. They were cold, soggy, oily and completely brown; even ketchup and hot sauce could not make them edible. The biscuit and gravy were okay, but would have been better hot. My wife said her chicken fried steak was absolutely excellent. However, she got the same cold, brown, soggy, oily and inedible potatoes that I got. They seriously must have been sitting in a vat and ladled out as needed, that's about the only reason I could see us both getting the exact same terrible potatoes. One thing I am absolutely sure of, the potatoes were most certainly not cooked to order. I gave this review a Two Star instead of One Star, because there were two stars in this visit; the first, our waitress Monica, and the second, my wife's excellent chicken fried steak. We wanted to love this place but we just can't. The concept of Bloody Mary's in a bucket is awesome but we paid $30 for a bucket of tomato juice. We even at one point had to ask our server if there was alcohol in it! She said due to them not having a full liquor license (I get it, Idaho's liquor laws are just silly) they could only put a certain % of alcohol in any of their drinks. I feel like this disclaimer should be on their menu Bc we wouldn't have ordered or had we known! Our server was subpar at best & was very inattentive. Been meaning to go to this place since it first opened. Staff is very friendly and place is clean. Prices were a little high but once I got my food....I soon realized that I was getting my money's worth. The platter was huge! I got what was called the 'Idaho Scramble' and it was pretty good. The only downside was that it needed a little bit more seasoning. Their potatoes were delicious though! My husband got the 'Bacon Bacon Burger' and he said it was decent. I'll tell you what though... their Bacon was soooooooooo good. I also tried their Strawberry basil mimosa. Couldn't really taste the Strawberry or basil just mostly the prosecco. While in town for a wedding, we visited this place based on a recommendation from local friends. They were very busy on Saturday morning- I wished I would have known to join the waitlist before arriving since there is not much of a waiting area. However, our waitress was friendly and the food came out after a reasonable wait, despite being packed. There definitely weren't many veggie options, but the spinach scramble sounded delicious so I didn't mind. The scramble was tasty, although nothing too special. The amount of potatoes served with this dish was incredible, I ended up eating them as both a snack later that day and breakfast the following day! The biscuit and gravy side were my favorite part because the biscuit was so soft and the gravy very flavorful. My husband really enjoyed his smokehouse scramble and pancake side. He had a significant amount of leftovers as well. The atmosphere had a relaxed yet playful vibe- I would recommend to someone visiting the area. read more

Our kids know we take breakfast seriously. When visiting our grandson we will sneak out early and head down trying one of the many mom and pop places around us. This happens to be our son and his wife's favorite. So we gave it a try. I went with the CFS and I am just going to put it out there, my home state makes some of the best CFS around. This isn't your usual cube steak (I'm a pig in mud w cube steak) but a hanger steak.... And it's cooked perfectly. It's so tender and so flavorable I barely needed Tabasco. Just a tad! But that's where our love affair stopped. Neither one of us like candies bacon on everything. We just like bacon (I can't really eat it anymore honestly so I'll just stick to CFS) it was just a turn off for the hubby. read more

Insanely delicious. You can't go wrong with The Hog or Chicken Fried Steak. The portions are huge, so you definitely get what you pay for. I will say, I've had two DoorDash orders that were not good at all. I'm not sure if it was a fluke, or it just wasn't great reheated. But I have never been disappointed with when I've eaten at the restaurant. It's been busy every time I've went, so definitely get on the wait list. The tables are fairly close together since the bar is centrally located so it's not ideal, but it's certainly accessible even if it's not worthy of lingering (which is good for them LOL). The wait for food has been relatively short each visit, and the service has always been exceptional. To be fair, my reviews and experience has only been for breakfast. I have not eaten here for lunch or dinner. Whatever you eat, definitely get the potatoes - so freaking good! read more

A party of 7 was here on a Tuesday night. Everything we ate was good with the exception of the French toast which was greasy and over cooked. We had the brisket Benedict, fish tacos, bacon bacon, roadhouse burger and pork n' Mac grilled cheese. The portions are enormous. We also had fries and sweet potato tots (which were also too done). Everything was great! We want to come back for the drinks. I can't remember what everyone got exactly. Stupid comment but I kind of wish they put that the breakfast burrito is SPICY. It said chipotle sauce but that's usually not too bad. This was inedible (for me) but had great flavor. I literally was unable to eat it unfortunately. My step dad who likes spicy was even sweating, so it wasn't just me lol Also I have had the pancakes several times, two first times were great but the third time it tasted like cornmeal and onion. Not appealing for a pancake...not sure if this was a one off or if they changed the recipe. Overall it's a great place to eat and recommend it to everyone. Man is the food really good here and the portion size is out of control large. I had to take a significant amount of my food home and it fed me for the whole next day and then some. It's a really fun vibe inside. Items that we've had are the eggs Benedict, and the Idaho scramble. Overall really great food. Excellent service in a very cute location with a "divey" small business atmosphere. I have wanted to try this place for years. My mom and I ended up splitting the asada breakfast burrito. Personally, I wouldn't have ordered that and I didn't love it, but that's a personal preference and not the establishment's fault. The plating was done very well. The website made it sound like the place might have good stuff, but didn't indicate what... Ordered a burger, asked for medium rare, was informed "we don't do that, we cook all our burgers well done." I can go to (insert fast food chain) for that. Burger was indeed well done, as if all hope needed to be cooked out of it. The place wasn't super pricey, but enough that you should expect to get a burger done correctly. This "well done" business is amateur. Brisket "bites" on the burger tasted like nothing, just little cubes of blandness. Fries were pretty good, but weren't hot. The food quality has really gone downhill. My son and grandson ordered scrambled eggs and they looked powdered. My grandson said they tasted "sandy". The bacon was undercooked and nothing special. Neat place to eat out for dinner. The food was excellent. The only thing that would have been better was if the ass clowns that were drunk in the corner would have left. Take that crap elsewhere. This place is great, it's probably one of the only places you'll see people from Treasure Valley wait for brunch (because most people who live in the Treasure Valley would rather go someplace else than wait, this isn't Portland). The name of the place is the theme of the place, stick to your ribs biscuits and gravy, which seem freshly made, and of course bacon and all those other wonderful things that come from our favorite breakfast animal. The portions are extremely generous. Of course, they have your favorite breakfast cocktails, like Mimosas. The place is extremely crowded, and as I've mentioned, people from around here aren't quite used to this level of busyness in a restaurant. My advice if you are finding your waitress is inattentive and giving you an attitude is to try being nice to her; cordial, friendly, and appreciative and see if that doesn't change. Also, reflect that gratitude in your tip. You would be amazed what a positive attitude on the part of a patron can do to improve service almost instantly. Judging from the people around us, that lesson hasn't quite sunk in. It's a busy place people, but it's good, so be good back. read more

Massive quantities. Interesting combinations. And some fun photo opportunities. This is a nice spot to go with a large crowd of people, if you are looking to dine in a hurry, or have kids. Think of it kind of like an elevated Denny's. I have eaten here twice now. I dined in once with my kiddos. I ordered some French toast and the whole meal was so obscenely huge, I didn't even eat half. That meant that I got to bring home a full meal for my old man. My little one ordered a kid pancake breakfast to split with her sister. But the pancake breakfast was just as big as an adult size! The pancake is literally the size of a pizza box. No doubt the sizes here are very generous. The second time my husband ordered takeout for Mother's Day and ordered my favorite breakfast meal, eggs Benedict. Unfortunately it was swimming in grease and the hollandaise was broken. The potatoes were super good! I can't decide if I like their bacon or not. It is candied, but also very thick and served a little floppy. In general... fluffy bacon is against my religion and this kind even tastes a bit burnt. Not horrible, not amazing. I think next time I'll try a different meat. With other breakfast spots around the valley to enjoy, I don't know that I will return for breakfast. I can only speak on behalf of their Happy Hour, which has some of the best prices I've seen! We decided to splurge on the Mingo Mango to see what all the rage is about. Normally $17.99 during happy hour only $9!!! It was tasty and fun. Not overpowering flavor and not so boozy that two of us could share and still feel fine. We both agreed the BBQ corn Ribs were amazing! I'm a girl that grew up in Iowa and lived for sweet corn. This was a delicious twist and if you go definitely try them. The BBQ nachos were delicious. I'm not normally a fan of nachos due to the toppings and how soggy the chips get. Not here. These topping hit all my tastebuds in a good way and the chips that accompanied them held in tact. So much flavor! I've heard great things of this place, I'm just not a fan of over the top portion sizes, so for happy hour this was perfect for two of us. Loved the atmosphere and our server was very attentive. Give them a try if your looking for a new happy hour spot. read more

Wow we're do I begin.. Hostess needing to get a personality and maybe trained better on her 1 job to greet, smile and get people seated.. We finally were taken to a table then the waits began. Took 10 to 15 minutes to order drinks then another 5 minutes to be delivered. Sat waiting to order but our waitress didn't come back to do that for another 20 minutes..of course she was busy kissing butt at bigger party of people that were drinking a lot. After ordering it took 30 minutes to be delivered to table and we were shorted part of one order..another 10 minutes to get that corrected. Finally finished meal..which was literally Luke warm at best and took another 20 minutes to get someone to take our payment for the meal and it wasn't even our waitress. Headed out approx 1-1/2 hours after we were seated and manager caught up with us to give us a gift card to come back because of the terrible service. They were pretty much blaming the waitress but it starts at the top (management). Step up and train your people and don't blame it on your employees..
