Please help us buy from you by fixing your phone and wait situation. * Constant busy signal is causing you a lot of lost business * When I do get thru (15+ tries on busy), you aren't answering the phone. (10/10 frustrating, then I get to go back to the busy signal problem.) * This isn't just Fri/Sat. It's 4pm on a Sunday and this is the situation. You guys really, really, really, need to A) get an online order system, that will relieve your phone traffic and B) hire way, way more kitchen and phone staff to keep up. If you want to keep your profits and not do an online order, I get it. Invest in a phone system that can handle multiple simultaneous callers (VOIP), and have 2 people answering the phone. The busy signal issue is really the thing you need to fix. read more

I am kind of disappointed with my experience here. Not because of the food taste and quality though, it was actually quite delicious. I am not happy with the portions for the price. I got food for two and it ended up being $60, which I think is kind of crazy for a typical lunch at a Thai restaurant. I got two orders of pork collar, which came with an amazing dipping sauce. Unfortunately they put the two orders into one container and wrote a x2 on top of it. I was disappointed in this because of their chosen packing method.. it seems like a classic way to rip someone off of portions, and it wasn't really enough. I also got some house fried rice, which was good, especially after adding the extra pork sauce to it. Parking here is pretty limited. Food was good. My favorite restaurant in Encinitas (which is already a great place for food!) I've come here with family, and on dates, as well as ordered big to-go meals. Every time I'm just blown away by how very good the food is. For dine-in experiences, they have a huge selection of craft beers, including some local options. The servers are real pros here, excellent service from start to finish. I have to recommend you eat in the restaurant, but honestly, the food is so good that getting take out here is also amazing. I recommend the Pho, the spring rolls, and all the curries, especially Panang, and Massaman. read more

Thoroughly enjoyed dinner with friends at Birdseye Kitchen! You might have to hunt for a space to park but it's worth it! Loved that they have open air seating. Their Staff was nice, LOOKED HAPPY TO BE THERE and attentive. Their food and drinks were delicious! Shrimp Spring Rolls were yummy! If you like tamarind, try their Tamarind Rye Sour! I should've asked for a few more splashes of tamarind...next time! Had the Papaya Salad...can't go wrong with that. The Duck Three Flavors was ! The duck meat was tender, not dry and the fat was rendered making the skin oh-so-crispy!!! Of course we finished off our meal with Sticky Rice with Mango! Cute place within walking distance of the hotel we were at. The vibe was a little chaotic but our waiter ended up being friendly and attentive. Our table apparently was a bigger table split into two but no one told the food servers. Explosive peanuts, really good. Spring rolls also delicious albeit a bit small. Pad Thai and House Noodle Soup are both amazing and are drastically different in terms of flavor and spice. The Pad Thai has a rewarding amount of flavors and can be made on a spice scale of 1-10; 10 requires real OGs or people who have already burned off their tastebuds... 3 is a medium spice and 4 is spicy for most if that helps. The house noodle soup is pure comfort food and has zero spice or pop - every bite is warm and satisfying. Gluten free everything/options - staple of Encinitas. Order ahead, they get very busy around dinner time - can be 45 min wait since everything is prepared when ordered and they make food that is absolutely worth the wait. read more

I went there for my lunch break and ordered their Curry Noodles. The lady told me that it will be 15 minutes wait for my order. I hesitated but reluctantly agreed since that is a quarter of my lunch break. 15 minutes had passed so I took it to myself to wait a few more minutes and then approached the lady and I was told tht it would be another 10 minutes. With a total of over 30 minutes wait, my order finally ready. BUT... I initially ordered the Coca-Cola Litro( bottled imported soda) what I got was the small single(355ml.) After all of these, I did not even get an apology from them. I'm so disappointed and I will definitely put them on my least favored place to be. So delicious!! I just moved to the neighborhood and this was the highest rated closest Thai place for takeout. So glad we tried it! We had the Imperial rolls (vegetarian), Drunken noodles and Curry noodles with Tofu and veggies. Absolutely loved the curry noodles. Amazing flavor and great portion. Also a generous amount of veggies and you can tell they are fresh - not canned like some other places use. Really great vegan options. I can't wait to try the pho and soups! We have enjoyed Birdseye Kitchen as part of our regular restaurant "rota" here in Encinitas since opening in March of 2016. Tonight we took some good friends out (one is an exec chef) and unfortunately the food was off the mark that we have enjoyed historically. Not sure if there has been a change in the kitchen or if we should stick to lunch service where the kitchen is not so overwhelmed. Service was good given the number of tables our server was covering. For so many years Birdseye was my family's go to restaurant for Thai food in N. County. Unfortunately, since their expansion/remodel, the service and food has dramatically changed. On a recent visit we waited over 40 mins to get our food and it was very disappointing. Despite this mishap, we ordered dinner for pickup tonight (placed the order 1hr in advance) and upon arrival discovered that the order hadn't been filled. I ordered the beef pho as it was a little chilly during the evening. I'm not sure why but it took about 30 mins to get the pho. The soup was okay; something was a bit off. They also didn't strain the soup very well because there was a burnt piece of something (all black) and a burnt piece of ginger in the soup. The noodles were not cooked through so they were a bit hard. Also the price point was not well balanced. I understand that being on the 101, the rent has got to be high; which is also why the decor and atmosphere is very trendy compared to a typical southeast Asian restaurant. But 16 dollars for beef pho I get it would be a smaller portion; but I had to go to a taco shop afterwards to get some rolled tacos. Also for $16 for pho I would expect better service. It's not like it was a traditional small Asian restaurant; they made it trendy and they service was just not there. Maybe if I ordered the pad Thai or curry it would have been better. read more

Missing that spicy, salty, sweet. I was asked if I wanted spice in the food. That should have been a red flag. I asked to clarify. Wasn't sure if she meant seasoning. Apparently, their way of saying heat. 1-10 scale waitress said. I'm thinking 7? Didn't want to go all crazy but what's Thai without the cry? Turns out, "spice" was what she meant. The amount of roasted chili powder they sprinkle on top. No Thai Bird chilis in the restaurant!!! Serrano chili? I asked for the usual Thai condiments : Serrano chilis in vinegar (0) Thai chilis in fish sauce (only on to go cups with for very small slices. Looked like it was sitting in the fish sauce for months. Ok. I ordered the crispy pork with Chinese broccoli. Smelled awesome: you can smell the wok hae. Garlic on point- no chili Yam Woon Sen: glass noodles under cooked, chewy and not that smooth slippery translucent noodles I was looking forward to slurping. They used a very dry chicken breast and two shrimps. Didn't have that typical Thai dressing of fish sauce, lime juice, sugar, tamarind, and food I mention there were NO CHILIS!!! Not even that ground chili spice powder. Green Curry with eggplant and pork. NO EGGPLANT!!! I guess they didn't think I'd notice. Umm, isn't green curry GREEN? I tasted the coconut milk. They used a very good one but not sure if there was any curry. Maybe they ran out of that as well with the missing what they forgot to inform us they ran it of. It tasted more like cream of chicken soup, but better than canned Campbell's cream of chicken version. I will say that everyone there seemed to really enjoy their food. I grew up eating Thai food from Thai communities. Good for these guys to be doing well. Give it a try, but if you're like me and want authentic Thai, this is not the place. So Disappointing. We ordered the Curry chicken noodles, Organic Chicken Pho and House Fried Rice w Pork. Firstly the pho was extremely diluted, no flavor, lukewarm and maybe 5 shreds of dark meat chicken in it. They tout this Mary's organic chicken. But too stingy to put any in the pho. The curry chicken noodles would have been ok, except the noodles even after incorporating w the curry sauce we so mushy, cakey and just overcooked. The house special rice is where I give it 2 stars. It was ok. Fair amount of pork and decent flavor and good consistency. I wanted to love this place as I'm a resident in area and am supporting small businesses during quarantine. But I feel like I won't be back. Pretty pricey for the quality and misleading advertising on the Mary's Organic Chicken Pho. read more

We are surprised that we have not yet reviewed this place. It has become a staple for us and definitely some of the best Thai we have found in the North County area. Now that we know what to order, oftentimes the meal is quite solid although we have a number of dishes we'll stay away from now. We love the crispy pork collar with savory (fish sauce based) bang bang sauce and have gotten it almost every time. The spring rolls are fairly average, yummy sauce but bland filling themselves. The crispy sesame wild shrimp is tasty albeit sweet. The papaya salad lao style is salty and spicy, definitely not the same as the traditional Thai version but a delight in itself. The larb salad was similarly delicious and something we've reordered. The green curry is another staple for us - creamy and hearty, it's fantastic. The ban xeo (crepes with ground pork and accompainments) and wild fish curry noodles were both surprisingly bland and lacking in flavor despite the many fresh herbs. The pad thai here is solid. So, obviously we've eaten here multiple times given the list of food above and we love it in general. The only hesitation to 5 stars is that the dishes are uneven, some are 5 stars, but some are frankly 3 stars at best. Hopefully they'll continue to improve the rest! read more

We had lunch here yesterday. The restaurant is nice with a large outdoor patio facing 101. While we didn't have any alcoholic beverages, there is what looked like a full service bar. Service was a bit slow and not very friendly - that's okay as they weren't rude or anything. We ordered a pad Thai and a chicken pho. However, what we got was an incorrect two orders of pho so we had to send one pho back for the pad Thai. My husband was more than half way done with his pho by the time I got my pad Thai. We got one " sorry about that" statement from the server who brought the correct dish. I probably should have just eaten the pho and not asked for the correct dish. It looks like the kitchen rushed the pad Thai order as the noodles were still very tough. I could barely chew it and took home more than 3/4 of the dish so that I can cook it a little longer. The pho had a good flavor but could have used a wee bit more pieces of chicken. I was disappointed that this place did not satisfy my craving for a good well prepared pad Thai. read more

I was introduced to this place last year when I lived in the area and have done takeouts as well, but I figured I'd write a review now that I've dined at this place a few times now. Let me just say that I love that there's a legit asian restaurant in North County/Encinitas area, I feel like while there's tons of sushi places in North County, the asian fusion restaurants are far and few in this area. I've ordered a few things from here but the dishes I seem to come back for are: -Chicken curry noodles - probably the best thing on their menu, it's delicious and the portions are good. -Organic pho - this was delicious and was the perfect bowl of pho on a cold, rainy day. -Pineapple fried rice - get it with pork and it's absolutely delicious, they wok fried the rice, so you can taste the smokiness in the rice and it's the perfect balance of sweet, savory, a little spice (if you ask for it), and very filling. -Glass noodles salad - the cucumbers and the red onions really balances out this dish and it tastes so fresh. The not so great: -Don't order the banh xeo if you're going to do take out, they'll skimp you on it and it's not that great when it's for takeout, it's a bit thicker, so order this only for dine in. -The portions for take out in general is much less and yet you're paying a bit more. read more

This place is a refreshing newer eatery located on the 101 in Encinitas. I stopped in for an early lunch and ordered the Drunken Noodles with chicken at a level 4 heat for $11. To start however, I order an order of the "Crispy Imperial Rolls" for $6. The Imperial Rolls were very good, but they need to offer a fish sauce with them, in addition to the sweet sauce. I asked for some of the fish sauce and the young lady serving me happily brought me over some. On a side note, the sauce was terrific. The rolls came filled with ground Mary's free range chicken, a bit a taro and mung bean, thin glass noodle, and carrots. They were quite good and I really enjoyed the crispiness of the outer skin and its good flavor. The ingredients inside all tasted great and were enjoyable to eat with the fish sauce. I would to see them serve these Imperial Rolls with butter lettuce leaves to wrap them in. I would certainly order these again. The drunken noodles were great, but when you order be careful with the heat levels. I usually order a lever 5 or medium, but not knowing this place, I went for a level 4 and even that was hotter than I expected or a level 5 I would ask for. It was a good heat though, that lingered on the palate quite a bit. Anyways, the flat noodles were very well prepared and tasted great. the free range chicken was tender and very well seasoned. The onions were crisp and the bean sprouts tender. I would of liked to have seen a little more egg in the dish though. Service was quite attentive and friendly. Located not too far from the 5 freeway, I detoured here in the midst of traffic on a Saturday early afternoon to have lunch. Open seating, but only 1 waitress working at the time so things were moving slower than I'd like, but I totally understand. I ordered the beef pho ($10) and it was very plain. The broth lacked flavor, the pieces of beef were large and in small chunks, which I wasn't use to since I prefer thinly sliced beef in my pho. Thank goodness for the super fresh bean sprouts. I had a few bites of the pad see ew ($11 or $12) and that was delicious! It wasn't oily and the flavor really soaked into the noodles. The broccoli was also soft in texture. Eggs lightly covered the entree. If I could re-order, I'd order a pad see ew all for myself! Restrooms were very clean, nice ambiance, service wasn't bad given the situation, and prices were higher than expected, but I'm guessing little competition in the area. Birdseye Kitchen is a not a bad little Vietnamese place located right in the heart of Leucadia. This place essentially has a fairly traditional menu complete with Pho, spring rolls and various noodle options. They also have a very extensive beer and wine selection which I don't often see paired with pho, but hey this is Leucadia. The food was actually pretty good, pho was a bit bland but the pad see ew is awesome. The beer is local and served ice cold. The overall ambiance is good and the decor is somewhat modern chic. Overall, a great addition to the neighborhood and to the overall foodie scene of Leucadia. This has always been one of our favorite Thai places and we live walking distance. However, today I called to place a to-go order and the woman on the phone was unbelievably rude, rushed me off the phone, gave no help when I asked questions and hung up without even acknowledging I was done with the call. There wasn't an ounce of kindness in her voice and I didn't call at a busy time. I was about to ask when it would be ready but before I could, she said "ok bye" and hung up without even waiting for me to respond. Awful service and far too rude to ever go again. Then, we get the food and the beef pho has one small piece of meat and has no flavor. Waste of money. We used to always recommend Birdseye to people but won't any longer if this is how they treat people and their quality has gone down. read more

Their wine choices are terrible.....They were conveniently out of their house red wine, the only relatively inexpensive choice. There was no other reasonably priced red. They said their best red was Il Frappato from southern Italy for whopping $72 a bottle.....This is a wine that you can buy for $24 in a store.....It was very light and little body.....I would suggest that someone else at Birdseye pick the wines, be cognizant of the pricing, and expand the selections..... read more

Maybe for dine in, but unfortunately over the past couple of years we have had issues with pick up. They consistently quote the wrong time and we're always left waiting an extra 45-60minutes. The food is good so we tend to forget and end up going again, however, tonight was exceptionally bad. People call in orders to go inside, pickup, and leave. Tonight we had to wait an extra hour, in-person, to get home and find that part of the order was missing. It's also frustrating that while they have a room full of people waiting and upset over delayed orders, they continue to accept take out orders quoting absurdly low times given their chaotic state. It's not worth the hangry headache and it seems to just to be how they do business since it has been like this for years. The food will be missed but we won't be back. read more
