Get the Flambing Ahi - so Delicious & Spicy! We paired it with the Beacon's roll & it was the perfect Balance! Miche11e is a great server!

Exceptional service! Delicious rolls! Had the moonlight, swamis, and sunset. All were amazing but I especially loved the sunset. The rolls were huge and I was shocked I finished all three. The waitress was very attentive and really made an enjoyable experience. I highly recommend and will definitely return the next time I'm in the area. Parking is a little tricky. I parked across the street in the dirt by the railroad tracks and had no issues.

    Deliciousness on a plate!

This place NEVER disappoints. Every thing I have tried has been amazing. Always enjoy sitting at the sushi bar so can get a great view of the food and ask about the rolls that just look good!! Had their summer special tonight and it was so good. Can't wait to see what they put up for their Fall Special.... I've said it before and I will say it again. The BEST sushi in Encinitas!!

Kai-Ola was excellent. We reserved the 5 person table up front for dinner on New Years Eve at 5:30 p.m. and got some great sushi and excellent service. The theme at this restaurant is a relaxing surfer feel and very chill. Will be back again.

There was a long line - this place is so popular - but thankfully the line didn't take very long. The wait in the line was a good amount of time to give me the chance to take a look at the menu before ordering so I didn't mind it at all! It was easy to order at the restaurant. Grab our order number and find a seat and just wait for the food to come out. I was worried the food would take a while because so many people were there. The food came quickly, so there was no issue. I got a bivuoac berry cider which was delicious and very drinkable. I opted for some clam chowder, rocket salad, and the seafood curry as well. The clam chowder was delicious and creamy. Not TOO rich and not too salty. The rocket salad was pretty standard. I don't order any fish with it since I was ordering so many items already and I didn't want to be too full! Just wanted to add some veggies to my meal. The seafood curry had some great flavor. I was a bit surprised that the curry was more of a soup consistency. I was expecting a thicker and more saucy consistency but it was still good. I think it could've been a bit more flavorful. I liked the fish, shrimp, and veggies in the curry and I loved that they cooked the fish perfectly. It was nice and soft and had a delicious char on it. Overall, great meal and I thought the meal was decent value. Expected to come back and try more menu items.

It's light and perfectly cooked, and the fries were a really nice contrast without feeling too heavy. The IPA was also excellent and paired well with the food. My husband loved his poke, and the shrimp burrito bowl was another standout--ordering it bowl‑style with all the verde sauce was the right move. Fresh, flavorful, and satisfying without feeling overly indulgent. Casual, consistently good, and clearly a local favorite for a reason. We'll absolutely be back next time we're in the area.

My favorite stop on my recent trip to the San Diego area…read more Encinitas Fish Shop was recommended by one of my local SD work colleagues. I grabbed an Uber after work on a Thursday and headed north 11 miles. As I arrived at the Fish Shop, I could smell the goodness inside and saw the line waiting to order. The restaurant is on one side, with an open bar on the other. Ordering is as simple as 1, 2, 3. Pick your fish, pick how you want to consume it (plate, sandwich, salad), and pick your sides and drink. I went with my work colleagues recommendation of a blackened sea bass sandwich with onion rings and a Marg. That choice was FANTASTIC!!! You seat yourself once you order and place the buzzer given to you by the counter person on the unit on your table. Although busy, there were still tables available (bar and restaurant, plus out front). As the NBA playoffs were on, I sat inside. Everyone working here was friendly and as I already stated... my meal was the best I had on this San Diego visit. A bonus was a gorgeous sunset just 3 blocks down from the shop. I will be back to Encinitas Fish Shop when I next visit San Diego.

I moved to North County and a few years later they opened Encinitas fish shop. I have been for the oysters in the past but it had been a long time. I looked it up to make sure they still had oyster night and sure enough they do. The price is now $1.25 but that still feels like a good deal. They had 4 different types to choose from. There was only about 7 people in front of me when I got in line including a family. There was an older couple ordering and it took about 20 minutes for them to complete their transaction. The rest of the line moved ok after they were done, but I probably waited about 40 minutes just to order. I ordered 3 of each kind, a dozen. Then I went to get water. They were out of ice. I sat in the window seating and waited. It took a bit, but it was a nice day so I didn't mind too much. A girl came out calling names but it was very difficult to hear her. I finally heard my name and she dropped off my oysters. I asked for more cocktail sauce and she left to get it. She brought it back but immediately left and never told me which oysters were which. I had to flag down another employee and he told me which oysters were which. In the past, I haven't liked some of the choices, but this time they had a whole different selection and I liked all of them! They were so good and fresh. I don't know why I waited so long to return. I'll definitely be back for more soon!

Having set my Apple Maps before reading the description of the restaurant, my wife and I set our course on the way back from the San Diego Zoo. I didn't want to get home too late and the parking situation for the better restaurants near the zoo didn't look promising so we decided to go further away from San Diego to find a place on the way home near the 5 freeway. Cancun may not look like much but the food is pretty freaking amazing. My surf and turf burrito filled with generous amounts of shrimp and carne asada was incredible. Adding sour cream and guacamole just put it on another level. No burritos like this near my home. My wife's shrimp plate was also a winner. Lots of shrimp. My wife's only gripe was not enough rice and beans. Even the side of corn tortillas was moist and tasty. I'm not sure if they make their own tortillas but it seemed like it. Even the french fries are incredible. Nice and crispy but not dry. I thought I'd still be hungry after just the burrito but I had no idea what a monster it is. Even after eating 3/4 of it, the remainder was still heavy. The older lady working the register is so sweet. A little hard to understand since she has a thick accent but very nice and helpful. The cook was cool too. Very happy when I stopped before leaving to tell them the food was "delicioso". Don't let the gas station scare you away. The food is jammin'! They do have valet for $10 which was worth it to us to not have to look for parking. Our table wasn't quite ready so they told us we could sit at the bar, as they were waiting for people to leave. The bar was full so we had to wait for someone to leave, thankfully it wasn't long. Unfortunately there is no seating or anywhereto really go (except to stand outside) if your table isn't ready and the bar is full. I ordered an espresso martini, which i will say was one of the better ones I've had. It was so good i got 2. When our table was ready, we were seated outside facing the water, and it was beautiful, and so peaceful. This is what made the restaurant experience for me. I'd go back just for the view. We ordered the sushi to start, and since i love coconut shrimp, I went for the sunshine roll. It was very good and not too sweet, even though it had mango, macadamia and sweet chilli. This was my favorite part of the meal, although the price was steep at $27 for the one roll! We also ordered a half order of the sourdough bread, but the gave us a whole one since they were busy and we had to wait a bit. The bread was very good and chewy, but the outside edges were a bit tougher. I had leftovers and it toasted very well the next day. Fur my entree I decided on the plum ginger braised shortrib. It was very tender and had a nice mild flavor. Not the best I've had but still good. It came with shredded Brussels which were fine. The potatoes kind of the me for a loop and the were supposed to be augratin with jalapeno and cheddar, but i didn't taste any of that. I probably wouldn't order this again. I was pretty full from my other items, so ended up wrapping it up to go. I will definitely go back for the sushi and the view, and next time I'd probably try the lobster tacos or chowder.
