The lunch deals here are crazy! We got 2 LARGE rolls + miso soup + salad for $19. I got the: - spider roll (6/10): we both got the spider roll but felt like there was very little soft shell crab and more batter - crunchy roll + fish on top (7/10): I tried the fish itself and it was decent nothing special I would come again for the value because you cannot find all of that food for less than $20 in this economy but if you're looking for amazing quality then this might not be the place. We were traveling to San Diego and stopped. The inside of the restaurant is very dark. The place smells stuffy. The staff was very nice and seated us in the back. The food came quickly. The sesame chicken was good, but kind of warm, not hot. The miso soup was very watery. The salad was simple. We ordered teriyaki chicken was room temperature. It was bland, and slightly tasteless. We ordered a fairly typical mix of standard stuff: hand and cut rolls, lunch combo. Food was all fairly good/standard for this price point. I went with the kids and happy they could each order the stuff they wanted without breaking the bank. Stumble upon this restaurant from a food delivery app. I was tired from playing pickle ball and I didn't want to be nice to anybody in public so I decided to order in. HAHA. I was craving sushi and didn't really know where to order from and the promotion from the app was compelling. I was starving so I ended up ordering the tempura appetizer some Nigiri and some specialty rolls and hand rolls. I didn't really have a high expectations because of it being delivered but holy moly did it impress me. The shrimp tempura was nicely battered. Not overly fried and the batter was nice and light. My hand rolls were nice and full. The seared albacore was actually my favorite one. All of the specialty roles that we had were pretty massive. We got El Fuego, the Homie and TNT. I probably ordered too much food, but it's OK because they were still good as leftovers the next day as well. Fish quality was good not like Omakase good but you know good good. I'm hoping to come back here in person when I'm feeling a little nicer and want to actually talk to people. All in all, the food was great and I'm looking forward to ordering this again or going into the restaurant. read more

I'm definitely hooked on sushi. Came in for lunch and we all ordered bento boxes. I was really surprised with how much food you get! These bento boxes are massive. Each one comes with your choice of protein, salad, miso soup, rice, half a Cali roll, mixed tempura, and pork gyoza. All for just $15.50 per person. Such a great lunch deal and I wish I could have finished mine. The quality of everything was really great and love that they know how to cook rice properly. Wife was cravin sushi and we were recommended by one of our co workers to try this place. Walked in and was very busy, so we're thinking it will be really good. We were met at the front by the hostess and sat right away. We were looking around the restaurant and noticed there were saki bottles as decor which was a interesting design on the wall. We were looking at the menu there were a lot of different rolls (like 7-8 pages worth), I went with the tuna hand roll and the dragon roll. The sushi came out fairly quick and the first thing I noticed there was more rice and fish, which is something I nitpick when It comes to sushi. Sushi should be more of the fish than rice, so this is probably the only reason I would give 4 stars. The overall rolls still tasted good and they looked really big as well. I think you get your moneys worth if you do come here but it's probably because of how much rice they put in vs the amount of fish. I think if they fix their portions when it comes to their rolls I think it would make the taste of their sushi that much better. This is probably my only visit to this chain. read more

Surprisingly decent sushi for the price. I've paid more for less quality and taste. It's no Nobu (I was served by him once many years ago), but it's easily edible and their pricing is pretty easy on the wallet as far as sushi goes. I always get hand rolls, and they are consistent with the size, which is a pet peeve of mine at many other places, when I get rolls that aren't filled nicely. Also, their miso and other soups are very hot, which is the way it should be. You'd be surprised how many places can't even get that right. read more

Went to get some sushi and ramen today for lunch. It was my first time here. My wife and I arrived as soon as the places opened at 1130am. The staff was very welcoming. The inside was very pleasant. We had ordered the lunch two roll combo which included a choosing of a house and specialty roll. Thinking it wasn't going to be enough food, we also ordered miso and tonkotsu ramen. We didn't realize how big the bowl was and was not able to finish the ramen. All the sushi rolls were fresh. The ramen was amazing. read more

As noted by its name, this place served a fusion of Chinese and Korean cuisines. Their Encinitas location took over what used to be a roadside diner along N Coast Hwy 101. The seating capacity was less than 40 people which included a few high-top counter spots. At my last visit, I came for a late dinner before their closing time. A large menu was posted on the wall behind the service counter that listed about two dozen food offerings. The items seemed to be comfort food like pot stickers, spring rolls, fried rice, and chicken wings but flavored with unique combinations of seasonings and spices. I started my meal with the Marinated Beef Tri-Tip Skewers which came as a set of three and a Chinese mustard for dipping. The meat was very tender and well-seasoned. I also ordered the Cumin Lamb Stir Fry which the cashier said was medium spicy. After tasting a couple of bites of the noodles from the serving bowl, I agreed that the heat level was moderate, even for my palate. I thought the portion size should have been more for the price. That was my main criticism for both items, otherwise the food was solid for an Asian fusion eatery.

It's been a while since I had ordered sushi from this place. I was impressed by the quality of the sushi rolls and the nigiri. Nothing has changed since the pandemic started. As a matter of fact, the food tasted even better. The Super Mario roll has just the right amount of spice to make my boyfriend uncomfortable a bit, hahah. The Yo-Yo roll has always been one of my favorites, and I was so happy to have it again. The tuna was amazing! Nice, deep pink color. You can tell quality when you see it. And of course, the service went above and beyond once more. Our amazing server, Alyssa, knows what she's doing when it comes to recommendations, even though we already knew what we wanted. Fun selection of rolls, even had no rice and other options (like gluten free) clearly marked. Food was ok, and I really hoped to like it more since the people and service were so nice. 3 of the rolls were slightly dry in texture, but kinda surface-wet at the same time... like how leftover sushi gets in the fridge. Their yogurt sake was amazing, which they unfortunately no longer carry :( However, over time I feel like Hooked on Sushi has slipped a bit. Service can be (seriously) lacking and the quality is not the same. However, we do understand when restaurants grow in popularity we tend to expect a slight dip in service and quality as they are trying to accommodate their higher client volume. We will still come here. My girlfriend loves their sashimi roll and we appreciate their variety in rolls. I ended up getting the mexican, honey, and yesterday roll. They were all completely different vibes, but individually so good. I especially loved the honey with its hint of sweetness. My order came out quick too, I'm pretty sure the person who packed it was named Gabi, she told me I just can't remember. I think whichever roll you order will be made with the same quality and expertise. When we get back this way, this is one of the places we'll return to.

Having had authentic Pad Thai in Thailand, I found this version noticeably different, as traditional Pad Thai is typically not that sticky. I was also surprised to see BBQ ribs on the menu at a Thai restaurant. They were decent, though--tender enough to fall off the bone and flavorful enough to enjoy. The highlight of the meal was definitely the stuffed angel wings. They tasted freshly made and were well-seasoned. We also ordered egg rolls, but for $10, I felt the portion size, quantity, and overall quality did not offer great value. Service was good, and our server was attentive throughout the meal. As for the ambiance, I'd suggest avoiding Friday nights if you're looking for a relaxed dining experience. There was a live band playing, and the music was so loud that we could barely hear each other talk. It's probably not the best setting for a date night or a dinner where conversation is part of the experience.

The sauce is so good that we actually dip our sushi rolls in the leftover edamame sauce, and it's honestly a game changer. (The pricing is also unbeatable for how good the food is). For drinks, the Cracked Summer is our go-to cocktail every single visit. It's refreshing, delicious, and pairs perfectly with the food. Boy does this place pack in a crowd! It was just two of us on Wednesday early evening, but we were…read moreseated immediately; no wait time at all. That was a big plus for us because we were hungry. We were seated at the main dining area but when we requested for a table so we could sit side by side versus across from each other (the room was sooo loud that we couldn't hear each other) the waiter (darned we didn't catch his name) acknowledged and rearranged a table nearby so that we could sit beside each other. Another plus! The place was busy busy and sooo noisy. We were fine with the wait to take our order (about 15 minutes), which gave us enough time to peruse the menu. We ordered the Omasake box with side of sushi rice, Salmon Teriyaki entree with xtra veggies and no rice, a side of Kale salad, and Passion Fruit Cheesecake for dessert. No menu drinks; just water, which came aplenty, as our glasses were never empty while we continually guzzled down our h20 (this summer has been such an excruciatingly hot one) - another plus for this continued h20 service! Now for our order: The Box came immediately, and without hesitation my companion dove in with chopsticks already waiting in hand. I picked on his meal, while waiting for mine. The Salmon entree came about ten minutes later, while I salivatingly and happily endulged myself with its delicious flavor. The Kale salad came quite late (almost like an after thought) as we were almost done with our main orders. The salad had an odor that wasn't quite pleasant - as probably most extremely green veggies do smell when grilled. I liked the taste; my companion did not, as he stated it tasted too bitter. I requested a side of ponzu sauce to tame down the bitterness, and I also ended up tossing some shredded white garnished radish noodles (left over from my companion's box meal) to mix in with the kale salad...hmmm, tasted better, but we eventually requested to have our salad to go. My companion was still hungry after his boxed meal; I was not, but we both agreed not to order anything more, a we awaited the dessert. The cheesecake dessert was the best part of our meal here, as the taste really pleased our still hungry palette. And yet another plus! All in all, the meal was pleasant. A little pricey (over $100) - thank goodness we skipped the drinks, less regular h20. Would we return? Sure. Service was great, and food was pretty good. Just a bit pricey... but then again, most sushi and seafood eateries are. There is plenty of parking and a plethora of other eateries nearby. If ones palette begs to differ from sushi or seafood.
