    Albacore hand roll

This place is nice for sushi and hand rolls. I came here with my bestie on a busy Sunday afternoon for a late lunch. It was pretty crowded, so we had to wait to be seated. We ordered edamame and miso soup as appetizers, but the edamame didn't arrive until after we finished our hand rolls, and the miso soup never came out. That said, the overall ambiance is upbeat and laid-back, making it a decent spot for a casual sushi outing.

I've always liked the hand roll style of sushi, regardless of whether I'm living in Japan or living in so cal! This place totally fits the bill. The service is super attentive and the menu is relatively simple. For me, it's always the 5 handrolls and either a Sapporo or some sake. Cool vibes and great food, can't ask for more...

One of my favorite food stops in Encinitas! I like sitting at the bar and getting the 4 hand rolls (Albacore, Yellowtail, Salmon, Shrimp). The Harland "Japanese style" beer is also really tasty. It can get pretty busy here so make sure to add your name to the wait list ahead of time if you're going at peak hours.

Such a great sushi/handroll place! Caitlian & Peter were great, amazing service all around! We ended up here on the off chance that we missed our original reservation & it ended up being even better. Some of our favs were the the three hand roll combo, the yellowtail sashimi special, & crispy rice tuna but everything was soooo good!

This place has been on my to visit list for a while and I was pleasantly surprised by the experience! Me and my two friends visited on a Saturday night and there was no wait to be seated. They do offer reservations online. The shop itself is super cute and clean, good ambiance. We got Brussel sprouts to share and they were good, nothing to rave about. I ordered three hand rolls, a scallop one, salmon one, and crab one. I looove scallops and theirs was so fresh! It was my favorite one. The salmon and crab were great too. They offer a bunch of sauces and I liked the yuzu one the best. Docking down a point because they forgot one of my friends handrolls and we had to remind the server twice. I'd visit again!

Been wanting to try this place for quite a while... $19 for three hand rolls (that comes to $6.33 each... )That was the lunch "special" on the sign out front but it's actually their regular menu offering. Pretty misleading if you ask me... You might as well post the entire menu on the sign. You can get 3-4-5 hand roll kits... Nothing comes with it. No miso or edamame or anything. I was expecting a nice setup of cone shaped hand rolls but instead I was served a cylindrical roll that I thought was pretty small in diameter and length (size matters LOL) Imagine a basic cut roll but uncut, narrower and shorter. It didn't seem like it had a lot of fish in it either... They bring them out one by one. I was still hungry after all three and $19 in... Pretty disappointed so far - ordered a rainbow roll for $16.. the roll was much better. Very fresh.. but still seemed lacking in the size and the amount of fish offered. The ambiance is great It's right on the 101 in the middle of downtown Encinitas... Considering I just dropped $40 on my lunch and left pretty disappointed, I can't recommend this place. There are much better options in North county..

The Moonlight room was so ono with Shishi (perilla leaves) to balance out the flavors, Biko state (crunchy rice crackers and spicy tuna). Had to have the Dragon Roll. Onolicious marinated grilled eel with gobo for some crunch. Finally, we ordered the Omega Red roll. Woo! This one is loaded with all the textures and flavorings you can imagine. Scallop and Yellowfin Tuna were smooth. Cucumber Kimchi added crunch and Tongarashi for a little kick. Washed it all down with a glass of Sapporo!

I was greeted quickly and sat at the bar. I ordered the restaurant week prefix menu. It all started with a small bottle of sake, which had a clean pleasant flavor. The Nigiri was especially tasty, each one seasoned perfectly. The 4 hand rolls were delicious and I was pleasantly surprised by the shrimp roll. It wasn't just pieces of shrimp with rice, they had seasoned it with some mayonnaise and other spices. Very good. I'm so happy that I decided to stop here for lunch.

I looove Temaki bar. I live in Escondido so it's not the closest option but well worth the drive for me (when there's no traffic lol). A friend and I stumbled upon it on a whim when we were doing a staycation at Alila Marea a few months ago. We had walked past it and it looked interesting so we stopped in despite having just had a light lunch, and I'm so glad we did! A couple of hand rolls to top off our lunch was perfect. The crisp on the nori is lovely and they're filled generously with delicious ingredients. I've since come back a few times alone, and also with my daughter and husband. Bringing my daughter is not as easy because she's 3.5 and they only have bar stool style seating, so I was a little anxious making sure she didn't fall off the bar stool. She enjoyed her miso soup and ebi nigiri. My husband likes coming here because it's more cost efficient than taking me to Azuki in bankers hill, while still satisfying my sushi fix lol. I usually order a la cart but recently got the set of 5 hand rolls and the shrimp hand roll that I don't usually order was so unexpectedly good! I also always add masago to the hamachi hand roll.

I really liked Temaki sushi bar! I think North County is lacking in cool/ good sushi restaurants and Temaki is both. The inside is one giant sushi bar that fills the majority of the restaurant so your servers are directly across the bar which is convenient, as well as the sushi chefs. Everything came out pretty quickly and our server was helpful and have some recommendations. There is also a large TV on one side that has sports for anyone looking for both. I had a house chilled Junmai Gingo sake which had a nice flavor. We shared the 4 hand rolls - my favorite was the Yellowtail but they were all good, the spicy tuna crispy rice which was delicious and probably my favorite, a tuna and salmon nigiri, miso soup and I had to try the Super Ninja Bunny. It had really good flavors with truffle and topped with caviar. I read other reviews complaining about cost but this was all $108 which doesn't seem that pricey to me? I would definitely come back now that I know of this nearby cool spot.

We loved dining at the location in Vegas and loved that Encinitas does not come with the Vegas price tag and the space can fit so many people but the quality was lacking. We got the 5 set (salmon, shrimp, scallop, yellowtail, spicy tuna) and added three more (blue crab, toro, albacore). Spicy tuna is always good because of the crispies. Salmon is usually good but I find that the shrimp had the most flavor. The scallops were creamy and bland. The blue crab had no flavor. Basically most were lacking flavor. They say hand rolls are best to be consumed within the first 10 seconds to get the best crispy crunchiness of the nori. Well, it was a big disappointment because the nori was chewy and didn't break off easily at every bite. That's supposed to be the most satisfying. Good thing we always order a side of yuzukoshu. We also got the temaki spicy. 2 for 1 sauce deal. Everything taste better if dipped in this sauce. Now I need redemption at the Vegas location next month to complete my hand roll craving.

Maybe I've just been spoiled by Kazunori and Rol, but this place didn't hit the mark. The salmon and albacore tasted like they came straight out of the fridge--icy cold. The albacore even had a grayish tint that didn't exactly inspire confidence. I ordered the 4 roll set and ended up swapping the last 2 for shrimp since at least it's cooked. The shrimp roll was okay, kind of reminded me of eating a lobster roll. Overall, super mid experience.

The sushi chef was super nice. The decor was cute and i love how open the space felt. The handroll set and sushi roll were both so good. Will definitely come back again. The neighborhood was pretty busy even though it was still morning. Parking was filling up quickly.

I grabbed an Uber after work on a Thursday and headed north 11 miles. As I arrived at the Fish Shop, I could smell the goodness inside and saw the line waiting to order. The restaurant is on one side, with an open bar on the other. Ordering is as simple as 1, 2, 3. Pick your fish, pick how you want to consume it (plate, sandwich, salad), and pick your sides and drink. I went with my work colleagues recommendation of a blackened sea bass sandwich with onion rings and a Marg. That choice was FANTASTIC!!! Although busy, there were still tables available (bar and restaurant, plus out front). As the NBA playoffs were on, I sat inside. I moved to North County and a few years later they opened Encinitas fish shop. I have been for the oysters in the past but it had been a long time. I looked it up to make sure they still had oyster night and sure enough they do. The price is now $1.25 but that still feels like a good deal. They had 4 different types to choose from. There was only about 7 people in front of me when I got in line including a family. There was an older couple ordering and it took about 20 minutes for them to complete their transaction. The rest of the line moved ok after they were done, but I probably waited about 40 minutes just to order. I ordered 3 of each kind, a dozen. Then I went to get water. They were out of ice. I sat in the window seating and waited. It took a bit, but it was a nice day so I didn't mind too much. A girl came out calling names but it was very difficult to hear her. I finally heard my name and she dropped off my oysters. I asked for more cocktail sauce and she left to get it. She brought it back but immediately left and never told me which oysters were which. I had to flag down another employee and he told me which oysters were which. In the past, I haven't liked some of the choices, but this time they had a whole different selection and I liked all of them! They were so good and fresh. I don't know why I waited so long to return. I'll definitely be back for more soon!

There was a long line - this place is so popular - but thankfully the line didn't take very long. The wait in the line was a good amount of time to give me the chance to take a look at the menu before ordering so I didn't mind it at all! It was easy to order at the restaurant. Grab our order number and find a seat and just wait for the food to come out. I was worried the food would take a while because so many people were there. The food came quickly, so there was no issue. I got a bivuoac berry cider which was delicious and very drinkable. I opted for some clam chowder, rocket salad, and the seafood curry as well. The clam chowder was delicious and creamy. Not TOO rich and not too salty. The rocket salad was pretty standard. I don't order any fish with it since I was ordering so many items already and I didn't want to be too full! Just wanted to add some veggies to my meal. The seafood curry had some great flavor. I was a bit surprised that the curry was more of a soup consistency. I was expecting a thicker and more saucy consistency but it was still good. I think it could've been a bit more flavorful. I liked the fish, shrimp, and veggies in the curry and I loved that they cooked the fish perfectly. It was nice and soft and had a delicious char on it. When our table was ready, we were seated outside facing the water, and it was beautiful, and so peaceful. This is what made the restaurant experience for me. I'd go back just for the view. We ordered the sushi to start, and since i love coconut shrimp, I went for the sunshine roll. It was very good and not too sweet, even though it had mango, macadamia and sweet chilli. This was my favorite part of the meal, although the price was steep at $27 for the one roll! We also ordered a half order of the sourdough bread, but the gave us a whole one since they were busy and we had to wait a bit. The bread was very good and chewy, but the outside edges were a bit tougher. I had leftovers and it toasted very well the next day. Fur my entree I decided on the plum ginger braised shortrib. It was very tender and had a nice mild flavor. Not the best I've had but still good. It came with shredded Brussels which were fine. The potatoes kind of the me for a loop and the were supposed to be augratin with jalapeno and cheddar, but i didn't taste any of that. I probably wouldn't order this again. Highly recommend doing an appetizer dinner...really just so you can try them all. We did the oysters - best I've had in a long time - octopus and ceviche. Chef's kiss to those three. The entrees were good but I would say the apps were the shining moment. My wife also did a coconut margarita and it was pretty great. All in all, we will be back without a doubt.

The food came out quickly, the bar was efficient, and our waters were never empty. Our server was present but not overbearing, the manager/owner stopped by for a quick chat, and in the course of conversation it came up that we were celebrating a birthday that weekend. Even though we hadn't stopped at Mia's for that celebration, the staff brought out something special anyway, which was very much appreciated. As for the food, I can recommend the octopus, oysters, and scallop ceviche. Fresh seafood, fresh flavors, a nice balanced blend. The margaritas were delicious, closer to a craft tequila cocktail than a bar margarita.
